Let's get this shit show started!
Seeing Bruce leaves me feeling bitter and angry after I remember how he practically abandoned us after the Battle of Sokovia. It had been several years since the two of us had seen each other, and I'm sure we had a lot to discuss about how he even crashed into the Sanctum to begin with or what he was doing prior to this meeting. Now wasn't the time though, and I don't think there would ever be a good time with Thanos on his way to Earth.
"Tyra! I don't know what you're doing here, but that doesn't matter right now! We can catch up later! Where's Tony?!" Bruce blurts out.
As soon as Bruce grabs me by the shoulders, the Cloak of Levitation sees him as a threat and wraps itself around Bruce's waist as it pulls my old friend away from me. Stephen and Wong turn to me in curiosity and confusion, clearly looking for answers.
"You know this man?" Stephen asks.
I try to move things along as quickly as I can, and introduce everyone.
"Stephen, this is Dr. Bruce Banner. I believe you know of him from his work. And also from his giant green counterpart." I glance over at Bruce. "Now, Bruce, this is my fine colleague Wong who is a Guardian of the Hong Kong Sanctum. We basically protect the Earth from mystical threats. And this is my...this is the Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Stephen Strange, who you might know from his work as a neurosurgeon." I explain fairly fast. "Now that we all know a little of each other, let's get this shit show on the road, huh?"
The Cloak of Levitation releases Bruce before moving back to rest on Stephen's shoulders. Without anything further to say or add, I pull a strand of my own hair and hand it over to Stephen, as I feel another wave of nausea hit me like a freight train. It takes everything within me to not throw up at everyone's feet.
"Tyra. You're shaking, and I can tell it's not from the coffee we had this morning, or from whatever is going on right now. What's wrong?" Stephen grows serious.
"I haven't been exactly feeling fantastic these past couple of days. But Stephen, you can't worry about me right now. We have to deal with Thanos. We can talk later, alright?" I give Stephen an urgent look.
Bruce interjects before anyone can say anything else, and I resist the urge to hit my old friend in the face as he continues to waste more of our time.
"How do you know about Thanos when this is the first time I've told you about him?" Bruce questions me.
You have got to be fucking kidding me...
"Well let's see, Banner...the last time we saw each other, I didn't have control over these fucking premonitions of mine. Now, if you'd please let me go, this is practically the worst time to be questioning me. Now do you want to locate my father or not?" I snap at everyone.
"Stark is right, we can't waste anymore time." Wong intervenes.
Stephen reluctantly releases me, allowing me to go to a nearby powder room as he uses my hair to locate my father as quickly as possible. In the distance, I can see my father walking with Pepper Potts in a park.
"Tyra, don't you think you should see your father?" Stephen calls out to me.
Wong rolls his eyes and shoves Stephen through the portal.
"She'll be fine, Strange. She just needs a minute to herself." Wong teases.
"Slow down, slow down. I'm totally not kidding." Tony blurts out.
"You're totally rambling." Pepper smiles fondly at him.
"No I'm not." He argues.
"Lost me." Pepper merely says.
Tony gets back to the topic he'd been discussing, ignoring the amused looks from his fiancee.
"Look, you know how you're having a dream, and in the dream you gotta pee?" He starts again.
"Yeah." Pepper nods.
"Okay, and then you're like, oh my god, there's no bathroom, what am I gonna do? Oh! Someone's watching."
"And then you wake up, and in real life you actually have to pee." Pepper follows.
"Yes." Tony sighs in relief.
"Yeah. Everybody has that." Pepper chuckles.
"Right! That's the point I'm trying to make. Last night, I dreamt, we had a kid. So real. We named him after your eccentric uncle. Uh, what was his name?"
"Right."
"Morgan! Morgan." Tony snaps his fingers.
"So you woke up, and thought that we were..."
"Expecting." Tony finishes.
"Yeah."
"Yes?" Tony smiles hopefully.
"No." She shakes her head with a smile.
"I had a dream about it. It was so real." Tony objects.
"If you wanted to have a kid, you wouldn't have done that." Pepper argues.
Pepper points to Tony's chest attachment, the arc reactor.
"I'm glad you brought this up, 'cause it's nothing. It's just a housing unit for nano particles." Tony assures Pepper.
"It's not helping your case, okay?" Pepper rolls her eyes.
"No, no, it's an attachment, it's not a- -"
"You don't need that." Pepper tells him.
"I know. I had the surgery. I'm just trying to protect us. The future, as is, and that's it. Just in case there's a monster in the closet. Just letting you know." Tony concludes.
"Shirts?" Pepper smiles.
"You know me so well. You finish all my sentences." Tony grins back at her.
"You should have shirts in your closet." Pepper reminds him.
"Yeah. You know what there should be? No more surprises. We're gonna have a nice dinner tonight. Show off this Harry Winston. Right? And we should have no more surprises. Ever. I should promise you." Tony replies.
"Yes."
"I will."
Tony and Pepper are interrupted when a magical portal opens up right in front of them, and the two tense up when a mysterious man comes out from the other side. Tony swears that he almost recognizes the man, and shakes his head as he can already feel a migraine coming on.
"Tony Stark, I'm Doctor Stephen Strange. I need you to come with me. Oh, uh, congratulations on the wedding, by the way." The stranger introduces.
"I'm sorry, you giving out tickets or something?" Tony sarcastically replies.
"We need your help. Look, it's not overselling to say that the fate of the universe is at stake."
"And who's we?" Tony questions him.
Bruce Banner comes out of the portal to Tony and Pepper's surprise, looking the most frightened that the two have ever seen from their missing friend.
"Hey, Tony." Bruce mutters.
"Bruce!" Tony shouts in surprise.
"Pepper." Bruce nods at her.
"Hi."
"You okay?" Tony asked worriedly.
Bruce surprises the couple even more when he gives Tony a hug.
I can hear Wong give my dad the explanation on the Infinity Stones, about Thanos' origins as I tidy myself up in the bathroom. I ignore the queasiness in my stomach and chalk it up to being nerves as I step out to get things rolling. My dad is seated as he focuses deeply on Wong's words, and looks at the projected illusions that Wong and Stephen present to him.
"From the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then, boom! The Big Bang sends six elemental crystals, hurdling across the virgin Universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of existence."
"Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind. And Time." Stephen lists.
Strange opens the Eye of Agamotto, revealing the Time Stone to Tony and Bruce.
"Tell me his name again." Tony glances at his friend.
"Thanos. He's a plague, Tony. He invades planets. He takes what he wants. He wipes out half the population. He sent Loki. The attack on New York. That's him." Bruce frantically rambles.
Stephen spots me and gives me a look of concern before making his illusion vanish as he walks over to me.
"You doing alright?" Stephen lowered his voice.
"I'm feeling better. I think it must have been something I ate. Or the nerves...or both..." I mumble softly.
Stephen gives me a small nod as he gives my hand a small gentle squeeze, and I give him a small smile of appreciation in return. Nothing could have prepared me for the moment my dad turned to face me. My father, Tony Stark, looks fantastic despite everything that's happened from the last two years. I knew it couldn't have been easy with the departure from the Avengers, which was a big part of his life.
It was also probably heart breaking for him to part ways with Steve Rogers, who, although he'd never admit it, had grown quite a bit on him as a friend. I also knew that from me going missing unexpectedly, and from having to take care of his best friend who was recently paralyzed from the waist down, it was purely amazing that my dad was still remembering to take care of himself and moving forward with his life. Although, I suppose I had Pepper to thank for continuing to take everything in stride with my father and for supporting him.
Stephen's hand slips from mine as I walk forward slowly and then take off running across the room. My dad perks up at the sight of me, and the look of shock on his face is almost enough to make me cry. He reacts in time as I crash right into him and embrace him as if it's the last time I'll ever see him, and being that Thanos was coming, it very well could be. I laugh as he twirls me around in his arms like when I was a child, and I can't stop him as he pulls back slightly to plant kisses all over my face.
"Jesus Christ. I think I'm just gonna implant that tracking device in you. We've gotta stop meeting each other like this, sweetums." Tony breathes out.
I wipe tears from the corner of my fathers eyes before planting a kiss on his cheek.
"You need to relax, old man. You'll live longer." I joke.
"I'm in my early fifties, do not pull this shit on me right now." Tony smirks.
Tony turns back to Bruce and wraps an arm around my shoulder for another one-armed hug before reluctantly pulling away.
"This is it. What's our timeline?" Tony asks Bruce.
"No telling. He has the Power and Space Stones, that already makes him the strongest creature in the whole Universe. If he gets his hands, on all six Stones, Tony..."
"He can destroy life on a scale hither to undreamt of." Stephen finishes.
My dad goes over to the Cauldron of the Cosmos and leans against it as he stretches his legs.
"Did you seriously just say hither to undreamt of?" Tony mocks Stephen.
"Are you seriously leaning on the Cauldron of the Cosmos?" Stephen raises an eyebrow.
The Cloak of Levitation smacks Tony's arm, and I find myself resisting the urge to laugh at the interaction.
"I'm going to allow that." Tony gives Stephen a small glare. "If Thanos needs all six, why don't we just stick this one down the garbage disposal?"
"No can do." Stephen argues.
"We swore an oath to protect the Time Stone with our lives." Wong snaps.
"And I swore off dairy, but then, Ben & Jerry's named a flavor after me, so..." Tony sarcastically replies.
"Stark Raving Hazelnuts." Stephen gives my father a tense smile.
"It's not bad." My dad shrugs nonchalantly.
"A bit chalky." Stephen mutters bitterly.
"A Hunka-Hulka Burning Fudge is our favorite." Wong notes.
"That's a thing?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Whatever. Point is, things change." Tony gets back to the matter at hand.
"Our oath to protect the Time Stone cannot change. This Stone may be the best chance we have against Thanos." Stephen warns my father.
"And still conversely, it may also be his best chance against us!" He quips back.
As my father and Stephen continue to argue back and forth, I glance down at the Eye of Agamotto hanging around Stephen's neck. I can see both sides to the argument, but then recall my previous vision about Stephen giving me the Time Stone.
Perhaps that was a sign that I should take it and run...
"Well, if we don't do our jobs."
"What is your job exactly, besides making balloon animals?" My dad folds his arms.
Low blow dad...
"Protecting your reality, douchebag." Stephen retorts with a thin smile.
"Okay, that's quite enough from you two." I finally speak up.
Immediately I'm in between the two of them, and give both of the men a stern look as my hands are planted on their chests to push them apart if need be.
"Dad, this is Stephen Strange, he saved my life from Zemo. So cut him some damn slack, huh? And play nice. We don't have time for this shit."
My father barely contains his surprise, but manages to keep a cool and collected expression on his face as if he's unphased.
"And Stephen, this is my father Tony Stark. He's far worse than I am in regards to snarky attitude and sarcastic quips. Just thought I'd throw that in there so you don't lose your shit." I informed him.
Stephen merely raised an eyebrow, and his lips quirk up just barely, but I'm able to spot it.
"So, if you both would stop having a pissing contest over here, we can get to the point of this meeting."
I gently push them away from each other and stand in the middle of the Sanctum as I gather everyone's attention.
"The fact of the matter is, is that we currently have the Time Stone and Thanos doesn't. Let's use that to our damn advantage."
"How do you know about Thanos?" Bruce interjects. "You barely looked phased when I crash landed in here."
I roll my eyes at Bruce and let out an annoyed sigh.
"As I've probably said already, a lot of shit has changed since you were here, ol' buddy of mine."
"You act like you don't even care." Bruce looks at me in disbelief.
As everyone glances back at me, I can see the look of concern on Stephen and my father's faces. I give Bruce a heated glare, and I can tell my Extremis is showing itself as my skin glows a bright red briefly but I will myself to calm down.
"I really would like nothing more than to punch you in the face for saying that just now. But you know what? Thanos is coming, and beforehand, I didn't have control over my stupid visions. But now I do since my time being here at the Sanctum with Strange and Wong's guidance. So can we move on to the more important shit here, Banner?" I snapped.
Bruce nervously fidgets in his spot and averts his gaze from mine.
"We currently have one infinity stone in our possession, and Vision is out somewhere on this planet with the Mind Stone. So we have to find him now so we can get a handle on this situation to get the upper hand on Thanos." I concluded.
"Yeah, that's the thing." Dad spoke up.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Two weeks ago, Vision turned off his transponder. He's offline." Dad responds with.
"What? Tony, you lost another super bot?" Bruce stares at his friend in disbelief.
"I didn't lose him. He's more than that. He's evolving." My dad argues.
I mean, it's not like the fucking Mind Stone has anything to do with that.
"Who could find Vision, then?" Stephen intervenes.
"Probably Steve Rogers." Dad mutters lowly.
"Oh, great." Stephen sighs.
My father procures a cell phone from his pocket, and I don't recognize it as being his at all. Then I realize that perhaps Steve might have sent this to my father for an emergency.
"Maybe. But..." Dad starts.
"Call him." Bruce orders.
"It's not that easy. God, we haven't caught up in a spell, have we?" Tony gives Bruce an annoyed glare.
So I'm not the only mad at Bruce here? Good.
"No."
"The Avengers broke up. We're toast." My dad informs him.
"Broke up? Like a band? Like The Beatles?" Bruce whines.
"Cap and I fell out hard. We're not on speaking terms." Tony replies. "After Tyra went missing, things were more than unsalvageable."
"Tony, listen to me. Thor's gone. Thanos is coming. It doesn't matter who you're talking to or not." Bruce speaks grimly.
At this tidbit of information, I'm shocked to the core. I can immediately picture the last interaction I'd had with Thor in my mind very vividly. Immediately, tears well in my eyes and I can feel myself shaking with absolute anger over the fact that Thanos had killed Thor. It didn't explain how Bruce survived over Thor, a fucking demigod. Someone had to have sent Bruce here as the messenger.
Perhaps Heimdall sent Bruce here.
However, I cannot get over the fact that Bruce was with Thor and I truly begin to wonder what happened with Thor before his untimely demise. I'm brought out of my thoughts when Stephen's hand falls to my shoulder in comfort. My father opens the cellular phone Steve mailed him, but stops before clicking the call button. He pauses as he looks around the Sanctum, hearing a strange noise in the distance. I look around as well, and with my enhanced senses from Extremis, am able to hear screaming coming from the outside.
"Say, Doc, you wouldn't happen to be moving your hair, would you?"
"Not at the moment, no."
I cast an illusion around the area and sneak over to Stephen while no one is paying attention, and make a physical copy of the Eye of Agamotto before managing to snatch the real one from Stephen. I turn around and tuck it under my shirt after performing an incantation that I'd learned from one of the books of the Kamar Taj, making sure that no one aside from myself could touch the Eye of Agamotto. I then go back to exactly where I was standing previously, and the illusion wears off. I can see my dad looking at the opening on the ceiling where Bruce crash lands in and sees metal scraps flying by outside. We all follow him as he abruptly runs outside of the Sanctum.
Shit.
It's absolute chaos in New York, people running and screaming in fear, cars crashing unexpectedly. I see my father help up a woman that fell in the street.
"You okay?" He asks in concern.
A car crashes in on a pole right behind my father, and the woman doesn't even give him a response as she takes off running again.
"Help him! Wong, Doc." My dad orders.
"Go! Got it!" Bruce shouts from behind us.
We keep jogging into the dangers ahead, seeing a bunch of abandoned cars scattered about, and a bunch of dust gathering up which make it hard to see around us.
"FRIDAY, what am I looking at?"
"Not sure, I'm working on it."
"Hey! You might wanna put that Time Stone in your back pocket, doc!" My dad tells me.
"Might wanna use it." Stephen interjects.
"FRIDAY, evac anyone south of 43rd Street, notify first responders."
"Will do." The AI replies.
Strange stops the ship's engine after managing to make the dust clouds around us disappear with a wave of his hands. It's then that two creatures step out of the ship that I'm immediately reminded of my previous vision regarding their arrival.
They were here for the Time Stone.
"Hear me, and rejoice. You are about to die at the hands of the Children of Thanos. Be thankful, that your meaningless lives are now contributing to- -"
"I'm sorry, Earth is closed today. You better pack it up and get outta here." My dad interrupts him.
"Stone keeper... Does this chattering animal speak for you?" Ebony Maw glares over at Stephen.
"Certainly not. I speak for myself. There's no trespassing in this city and on this planet." Stephen summons his mandalas.
"It means get lost, Squidward!" Dad shouts.
"He exhausts me. Bring me the Stone." Ebony orders his comrade.
"Hey, do you want a piece?" Dad turns to Bruce.
"No, not really, but when do I ever get what I want?" Bruce grumbles.
"That's right." Dad smirks.
I can see from the corner of my eye, that Bruce attempts to release the Hulk and is having trouble doing so.
"Been a while. Good to have you, buddy."
"I just... I need to concentrate here for one second. Come on, come on, man." Bruce groans softly.
My dad glances over at Bruce in concern as well as pure confusion while trying to figure out what the hell was going on with his friend.
"Where's your guy?" Tony asks.
"I don't know. We're certainly having a thing." Bruce grumbles.
"There's no time for a thing. That's the thing right there. Let's go." My dad looks at him desperately.
Bruce gives out a loud grunt, but continues to fail to release the Hulk.
"Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards." My dad whispers to him.
Oh my fucking god, Dad...
"I can't... He won't..." Bruce struggles.
"Alright then." I roll my eyes. "Let's just step back for a minute okay? Take care of him for me, Wong."
I crack my neck loudly and stretch as Black Dwarf approaches us, before moving to take him on myself. I can hear the shouts of worry behind me as I start running at the large creature. Using my telekinesis, I push him away as hard as I can. Maw doesn't even attempt to dodge, and even uses his own telekinesis to shove his comrade to the side before he can touch him. Maw looks at me with intrigue, and seems to recognize me as an eerie smile creeps up on his face.
"I recognize you. You are quite well known for your associations with the two Odinson's." Maw speaks up. "As well as for your contact with several of the infinity stones. You are Tyra Elizabeth Stark, correct? The Vanir, the daughter of Freyja?"
"If you want an autograph, I'm afraid you'll have to get in line." I smirk. "However, you know about me and what I'm capable of, so you should take that as a sign to run the other direction."
"But why would I do that? You have everything that Thanos wants. You have knowledge of the future." Ebony clasps his hands behind his back. "I think with you and the Time Stone delivered to him, you'll be able to serve my master well. Perhaps you can even become another daughter of Thanos. This is something of the highest honor, child. You should be grateful I'm not trying to kill you on the spot." He smirks.
I glance down at my wrist at my imaginary watch as I taunt the man before me.
"You see, I'm not sure I can fit that into my schedule right now." I hummed thoughtfully. "I've got somewhere to be and they don't involve being with you or with Thanos. I'm sorry sweetheart, but I'll have to decline." I feign innocence.
"I never said it was a suggestion, Tyra Stark. As soon as I retrieve the stone from your friend over there, I will be bringing you with us." Maw assures me.
The dumb fucker doesn't even realize that I actually have it. Oh Stephen's going to be so mad at me.
"Keep dreaming, Davy Jones." I scoffed.
As soon as he makes a move, I try my absolute hardest to keep him away from Stephen. Before I know it, I'm being flung back until Stephen flies up and catches me in his arms.
"Hey." I smile at him.
Stephen returns the smile before he releases me. My father looks concerned until he realizes I'm not looking at him.
"Dad! Behind you!" I shout worriedly.
He looks at me with confusion until he sees that I'm pointing at the Black Dwarf running full speed at us. My dad springs into action, donning his new Iron Man armor and is able to hit the Black Dwarf and stop him.
"Where'd that come from?" Bruce nearly shouts.
"It's nano-tech. You like it? A little..."
Ebony Maw hurls Stark up and attacks the rest of the team with his abilities as Wong summons a shield.
"Dr. Banner, if the rest of your green friend won't be joining us..." Strange mutters apologetically.
Strange conjures up a portal and teleports Banner to the park that's nearby just as my dad joins us again.
"You gotta get that stone outta here, now." Dad orders Stephen.
"It stays with me." Stephen glares at Tony.
"Exactly. Bye!"
Tony flies away but is cut off by Black Dwarf as he attacks him, sending him all the way to the park from his attack. Strange gives me a look and I shrug.
"What?" I raise an eyebrow.
"How did you ever deal with that man growing up?" Strange scoffs.
"Hey, watch it." I give him a small glare. "He can be an ass, but I'm his only daughter. He's just a little...protective." I blush.
"A little?" Wong smirks.
"Oh shut up." I roll my eyes.
Ebony Maw is a formidable opponent, but with Stephen, Wong, and I fighting together, maybe our chances of winning were greater. In the middle of the fight however, the Black Dwarf becomes more of an issue than we anticipated, and we tell Wong to go help my father deal with the creature. Maw looks smug as he uses his telekinesis effortlessly against the both of us.
It's when I see Stephen, attempt to 'use the stone' that I panic and truly intervene so that Maw remains clueless. Maw has metal wiring wrapped around Stephen, and effectively traps him. I cast an illusion on a whim, and flank Maw as he focuses on attacking the fake version of myself. Finally, I reappear before Maw and hit him with a blast of fire, sending him several feet away from us. Stephen is unconscious as I melt the wiring carefully enough that I can rip it off of him with my strength.
"Shit. Shit. Shit." I pat his cheek lightly. "Wake up, Stephen. Come on."
Maw returns before I know it, but doesn't move to attack just yet.
"Oh you clever girl." Maw smirks.
My eyes widened when I realize what he's referring to. I glance down and see the real Eye of Agamotto peeking out of my shirt. I fix my top and give Ebony a look of disgust. The Cloak of Levitation surprisingly leaves Stephen to wrap itself around my shoulders.
Fucking damn it. I was so close.
"So you were using your lover as a decoy?" Ebony questions me.
"Well when you say it like that, it makes me sound like a real bitch." I roll my eyes. "But it sure fooled you, didn't it?"
"That it did. But now that I know where the real Time Stone is...I'll be taking it."
"Like hell you will." I glare at him.
I feel myself flying under the Cloak's ability and fire off as many attacks and spells as I can against Maw. He's barely able to keep up with me, but I'm trying to use my Vanir powers on the fly so that I'm able to keep up with Ebony's attacks and predict them ahead of time.
"Got you!" He snarls.
I'm wrapped around metal wiring, struggling for air as it coils around my neck like a snake. Ebony has me up in the air, reaching down to snatch the Eye from me, but he hisses as it burns him, and realizes that I've cast a spell on it.
"You wench! Undo this spell, or I'll be bringing your corpse to Thanos instead."
"I'm sure you'll find it difficult to undo a dead wizards spell." I smirked at him.
"I'm sure you'll find that I am quite persuasive in getting what I want." Ebony grins evilly.
"I've been tortured before, bitch. Bring it." I spit at him.
"Well, let's test that shall we?" He raises an eyebrow.
I groan softly after the metal wiring around my neck squeezes more tightly, and my eyes roll to the back of my head as I lose consciousness.
"TYRA!" Stephen calls out to me.
"Kid, that's the wizard! Get on it!" Tony yells at Peter.
Spiderman nods and chases after Ebony Maw, and unknowingly, Tyra Stark. The Cloak of Levitation dodges all obstacles that Maw sends its way, the relic doing everything in its power to evade Maw and protect Tyra Stark.
"Wait a minute." Peter pants behind his mask. "That's no wizard! It's Ms. Stark! Aw, crap!"
Maw hits the Cloak of Levitation, and it unravels around Tyra's unconscious body.
"Tyra!" Peter shouts worriedly.
Peter moves faster to catch up, and finally manages to get her with his web. It catches onto her leg just before she hits the ground. Using his strength, he flings her entire body up and moves to grab her arm, until her body is suddenly suspended into the air. Before Peter realizes what's happening, the beam of light encasing her is carrying her up to Maw's ship.
"Uh, Mr. Stark! I'm getting beamed up!"
"Hang on, kid!" Tony replies. "Wong...you're invited to my wedding. Dr. Douche can kiss the palest part of my ass. FRIDAY, give me a little juice. And unlock 17-A."
"On it, boss." The AI replies.
"Kid, you gotta let go. I'm gonna catch you." Tony orders Peter.
"But you said save the wizard! Only, it's not the wizard you were talking about, they have Tyra!" Peter panics. "I can't breathe."
Peter glances down after ripping off his mask, and regrets doing so when he realizes that he's so high up.
"You're too high up, you're running out of air." Tony informs him.
"Oh, that makes sense." Peter dazedly replies.
Peter feels his eyes shutting, his grip slipping on the ship as he begins to lose consciousness. In the nick of time, just before his body impacts the thrusters of the the ship, the 17-A pod breaks open, and Peter is inside a newly designed Spiderman armored suit. Peter feels invigorated while regaining oxygen, and is easily holding onto the ship again.
"Mr. Stark, it smells like a new car in here!" Peter shouts excitedly.
"It sure does. Happy trails, kid. FRIDAY, send him home."
"OH COME ON!"
Parachutes deploy from the back of the new Spiderman armor, and the force of the wind on the parachutes, force Peter off of the ship. Meanwhile, Dr. Stephen Strange is able to find safe passage aboard Ebony Maw's spaceship using his sling-ring. He's desperate to find Tyra, as well as eager to yell at her for pulling a stunt like this with the Infinity Stone.
I feel as though I am in a daze by the time I wake up, and I find myself suspended in the air. There are hundreds of spikes that are almost glowing and transparent aimed at every direction of my body. I can't find it within me to move an inch, and groan softly when one of the spikes grazes against my cheek lightly.
"In all the time I have served Thanos, I have never once failed him." Ebony shares with me. "If I were to reach our rendezvous on Titan with the Time Stone still attached to your vaguely irritating person, there would be judgement."
He glares at me, the little tendrils of light phasing into my temples. My eyes widen at the overwhelming pain and I can feel my eyes water before I realize it. I try not to panic, and am able to tell that Extremis is working to heal my wounds.
"Give me...the stone." Ebony growls.
"F...fuck...off..." I breathe out.
The translucent spikes go deeper into my temples and other areas of my skull. My eyes water as I hold back a shrill scream of absolute agony, and refuse to give Maw the satisfaction of hearing my cries. I'm panting from exhaustion, trying to keep myself from passing out from the pain, and glare up at Maw.
"Painful, aren't they? They were originally designed for microsurgery. And any one of them..."
Maw pauses as he turns around to see Spiderman and Iron Man together.
"I could end your friend's life in an instant." Maw finishes.
"I gotta tell you, she's more like my daughter than a friend. Saving her is more of a fatherly courtesy." My dad jokes.
I love you dad. Always with the jokes and keeping everything light.
"You've saved nothing. Your powers are inconsequential compared to mine." Ebony smirks.
"Yeah, but the kid's seen more movies." Iron Man gestures to Spiderman.
"Yes! Wait, what are those?"
In mere seconds, everyone is practically flying as Iron Man blasts open part of the ship, I see a tendril of light attach to my ankle, and smile wickedly when Maw is shot out into space while I'm being pulled back inside the ship by both Stephen and Peter. My father makes quick work to reseal the hole, and the ship seems to re-stabilize shortly after.
"Stephen, I know how this looks, but I can explain- -" I mutter.
Stephen glares at me, but doesn't say anything as he plants his hand to the back of my head and smashes our lips together. I whine against his mouth and grab at his belts, pulling him closer to me as our tongues quickly dance along each other. As quickly as the passionate kiss happens, it's over just as quickly. Stephen licks his lips and gives me the angriest stare he can muster.
"Before I start yelling at you, what the actual fuck were you thinking when you decided to swap the Eye of Agamotto and give me a fake one?" Stephen spoke up.
I smile sheepishly at Stephen and twiddle with my fingers nervously.
"I had a vision that I was supposed to take it from you, and...yeah..." I explained terribly.
"Tyra Elizabeth Stark! What the actual fuck were you thinking?!" Stephen shouted.
"I'm sorry!" I blurted out. "I thought it was better to take the damn thing and run since you clearly weren't going to! I was gonna leave you a note and take off, but then that squid-faced dipshit figured out that I had the real Time Stone!"
"You were just gonna take off and leave? And then what? Essentially become a fugitive to Thanos and run around the entire galaxy for the rest of your life?" Stephen looked at me in disbelief.
"Well, yeah!" I stammered. "I kinda had it all figured out. Just go planet hopping and use my visions to figure out how much time on each planet I'd have before Thanos would come for me. Plus I have the Time Stone by my side..."
We pause and turn to see Peter Parker with his helmet peeled back, looking at Stephen with the most innocent look of curiosity on his face.
"We gotta turn this ship around." Stephen tells my father.
"Yeah. Now he wants to run. Great, I want to protect the stone. And I want you to thank me now. Go ahead, I'm listening." My dad sasses Stephen.
"For what? Nearly blasting me and everyone else into space?" Stephen scoffs.
"Who just saved your magical ass? Me." My dad glares at Stephen.
Huh?
"I seriously don't know how you fit your head into that helmet." Stephen smiles thinly.
"Admit it. You should've ducked out when I told you to. I tried to bench you, you refused."
I try to avoid eye contact as I slowly sneak away, but then my dad catches me, and points right at me.
"And you! Tye, that was a risky fucking thing you just did! You had me terrified!" Dad yells angrily at me.
"Unlike everyone else in your life, I don't work for you. Neither does she." Stephen refers to me.
"And due to that fact, we're now in a flying doughnut, billions of miles from Earth, with no back up." Dad retorts.
"I'm back-up!" Peter objects.
"No. You're a stowaway. The adults are talking." Dad gives Peter a harsh look.
"I'm confused as to the relationship here, I mean, what is he? Your ward?" Stephen questions the two.
Stephen glances between Peter and my father in confusion.
"No. I'm Peter, by the way." Peter holds out his hand.
"Doctor Strange." Stephen stares at him.
"Oh, we're using our made-up names. I'm Spider-Man, then." Peter smiles awkwardly.
I walk over to the steering controls of the ship, looking down at the monitor.
"Well I could ask what kind of fucking relationship you have with my daughter but I think that's pretty obvious from the way you just lip-locked." Dad retorts angrily.
Stephen looks dare I say, embarrassed and abashed and fails to come up with a response. I try focusing on the task at hand and examine the steering controls with my father. I feel slightly dazed and lightheaded, but try to power through.
"The ship is self-correcting its course. Thing's on autopilot." I noticed.
Surprisingly, my father seems to be very calm and collected when he talks to me this time.
"Can we control it? Fly us home?" My dad asked me.
"Stark."
"Yeah?" My father and I say in unison.
"Can either of you get us home?" Stephen looks between the two of us.
"Yeah. Heard you. I'm not so sure we should." My dad mutters.
I stare at my father in surprise, but then find that with this new look of determination on his face to stop Thanos, that it was useless now to convince him otherwise.
"Under no circumstances can we bring the Time Stone to Thanos. I don't think you quite understand what's at stake here." Stephen nearly growls.
"No. It's you who doesn't understand that Thanos has been inside my head for six years since he sent an army to New York, and now he's back! And I don't know what to do. So I'm not so sure if it's a better plan to fight him on our turf or his. But you saw. What they did, what they can do. At least, let's hope he's not expecting it. So I say we take the fight to him, Doctor. Do you concur?" My dad glares at him.
Stephen and my father are chest to chest, looking ready to punch each other's lights out, until they see the frightened look on my face.
"All right, Stark. We go to him. But you have to understand... If it comes to saving you, the kid, or the Time Stone... I will not hesitate to let either of you die. I can't. Because the universe depends on it." Stephen threatens him.
He didn't even mention me...if it came to saving the universe or myself, what would he choose then?
"Nice. Good. Moral compass."
My dad moves down the stairs away from the flight deck over to Peter, and pats him on both his shoulders.
"All right, kid... You're an Avenger now."
I'm hiding in another area of the ship right outside the control deck, wiping at my eyes and mouth with my sleeve as I try to rid the evidence of my most recent illness. Ever since Extremis, I rarely got sick anymore because my body was always fighting off infections or viruses, but recently, I was overwhelmed with nausea.
"Mis- -Tyra. Are you...are you alright?"
I straightened myself and wipe at my eyes again as I turn over to Peter.
"Yeah, I'm f...fiiin." I pause and my eyes widen.
I turn around and run over to an empty canister of some kind, throwing up my lunch from earlier. I wipe my mouth as I slowly walk back over to Peter.
"I'm fine. Why do you ask?" I compose myself.
"Well...for one thing, that. You throwing up the contents of your stomach. You're probably...I don't know...in shock or something?" Peter looks unsure. "Do you want to sit down? I can go get that Strange guy? He's an actual doctor right?"
"No." I blurt out. "Please...he's already pissed off at me enough as it is. Also, I'm pretty sure if my father sees him walk in my direction, he'll cut his dick off or something."
Peter's eyes widen at my bluntness, and he swallows before giving me a small nod of understanding.
"Yeah...they do not like each other...at all." He mutters awkwardly.
I let out a laugh and wipe tears from the corner of my eyes that are threatening to spill out.
"Yeah, what did I expect? The one guy I've ever pursued a relationship with, and my dad hates his fucking guts. How ironic." I chuckled dryly.
"I'm sure if the circumstances were different, maybe they'd get to know each other better. It's just really stressful with the threat of the end of the entire universe and everything, you know?" Peter smiled nervously.
"I know, you're right." I mumbled softly. "I'm just...all sorts of emotional lately. I've been having trouble keeping everything together. I've literally found love at the worst fucking time. Not that I'm saying I regret it all, because I don't. It's just...it's so..."
"It's okay." Peter places his hand on top of mine.
I blink away more tears and fight back the urge to vomit everywhere. I pull Peter in for a hug and throw him by surprise as I bury my face in his neck.
"I'm sorry. I just don't feel great. Is this okay?" I mutter.
I find myself falling asleep from pure exhaustion, ignoring the hushed worries of Peter's voice.
Hey guys! Let me know what you think! I'll probably re-write this chapter when I actually have the proper script for Infinity War, speaking of which...if anyone can find me a transcript or screenplay of the movie, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been seriously going off of my memory, and I only saw the movie twice in theaters. So any help is truly appreciated! I had a love/hate type of thing for the ending of this chapter, because I didn't want to get rid of any of the ironstrange interaction, but I wasn't quite sure how to rewrite it? Anyway, let me know what you guys thought of it. I'll re-write this chapter soon. But I just wanted to get this out here today. Without screenplay, or a leak of the movie, I don't know how I'll figure out the next chapter. I can try to improvise? EEEEEH?
