I was sitting on the couch, watching my TV in the living room. Randy had been in and out of the house all day, doing various things, so I was spending a lot of the day by myself, well…with only Spike technically.
I turn off the TV, deciding to go put something nice on to wear to go take Spike out on a walk. I head upstairs and change my clothes before looking for my phone, so I can text Randy that I'm leaving, just in case he gets home while I'm gone. I find my phone and see an insane amount of notifications. My phone had been in our bedroom and had been on silent, so I didn't know why so many people had tried to get a hold of me. The top notification had been a call from Chelle. I decide to call her back before worrying about anyone else.
Me: "Hey, what's up? Sorry, I missed your call."
Chelle: "It's alright. I just wanted to see what was going on because of Randy's whole situation."
Me: "Uh…what situation?"
Chelle: "You don't know?"
Me: "I haven't literally no clue what you're talking about."
Chelle: "Randy hasn't said anything to you?"
Me: "I don't know what you're talking about, so no."
Chelle: "It's on WWE's website."
Me: "What is?"
Chelle: "Maybe I shouldn't be the one to tell you. You're gonna be pissed."
Me: "Randy isn't here right now, and I have no idea when he'll be here. Tell me what's going on."
Chelle: "Randy got suspended for sixty days."
I can't bring myself to reply. I take in a deep breath.
Chelle: "Rissa, you alright?"
Me: "Uh…yeah, Randy got a phone call last night. He took it in the hallway and never told me what it was about. How'd he get suspended?"
Chelle: "I have no idea. John saw the article and told me about it. He also said he tried to call Randy, but it went to voicemail."
Me: "I guess I'll figure it out. Explains why I had so many notifications."
Chelle: "Are you mad?"
Me: "I'm well past mad. I'm livid."
Chelle: "Are you going to call Randy?"
Me: "No, I'll wait until he gets home. I was about to take Spike on a walk. I'll just go do that."
Chelle: "Okay. If you need anything after you talk to him, you can always call."
Me: "Thanks, I'll talk to you later. Bye."
Chelle: "Bye, good luck."
I grab my keys and the leash for Spike to head out on a walk. "Let's go have a nice walk before I have to have a serious talk with Randy, Spike."
I get back from my walk and enter the house. I let Spike off of the leash, so he can roam around on his own. I saw Randy's car in the driveway, so I knew I would have to talk to him. I start walking upstairs. I enter the bedroom, and Randy isn't even in there. I start organizing stuff around the bedroom. Randy comes in and wraps his arms around me before going to kiss me. However, I move away from him.
Randy gives me a confused look. "Did I do something?"
I give Randy a serious look. "I don't know. Did you?"
"Well, clearly you're mad about something."
I don't reply to Randy and just continue organizing things around the bedroom. I can sense that he's watching me, but I don't acknowledge it.
"Did you take Spike out on a walk?" Randy quietly asks.
"Yep." I reply without looking at him.
Silence falls over us. Randy crosses his arms and gives me an annoyed look.
"So were you just not going to tell me that you got suspended?" I ask with an irritated tone.
Randy sighs. "Is that what this is about? It's no big deal."
"No big deal? I think it's a huge deal."
"It's not like we don't have plenty of money. We'll be fine."
"That's two whole months where you won't be making any money. That's two whole months that you can't travel on the road with me. And you weren't even going to tell me."
"I was going to tell you."
"When?!"
"I was just trying to find a good time."
"Was that the call you got last night?"
"You were…"
"Was it?"
"You were already upset from the letter you read. I didn't want to throw that on you too."
"You could've told me when we woke up this morning."
"And be like what? Good morning, I won't be working for two months."
"Well, it's better than how I ended up finding out."
"You were gonna be pissed."
"I'm still pissed. How stupid were you to get suspended?"
"You're being ridiculous."
"I'm being ridiculous?! You're the one who's all about us having kids together! How are we supposed to do that when you're out here getting suspended and not even telling your wife about it?! I found out over the phone from Chelle when I should've heard about it from you! And I don't even know what you did to cause it!"
"I was going to tell you! Geez, Rissa! Why are you doubting us having kids together now?!"
"How are we supposed to have kids together when I can't trust you?!" I exit the bedroom harshly, leaving Randy in there alone.
Friday: June 1, 2012 3:45 P.M.
I enter Dr. Sullivan's office and sit down. I was a stressed out mess. I've spent the past two days essentially avoiding Randy while at home and trying my best to not be at home.
Dr. Sullivan sits across from me. "How has your week been?"
"Pretty good until Wednesday." I comment.
"How was work this week?"
"It was alright."
"Did work stress you out a lot this week?"
I shrug. "Not really. I've got other issues going on."
"What kind of issues?"
"Uh…my husband and I are having issues. I haven't talked to him since Wednesday. I've been avoiding him like the plague pretty much."
"Okay. I knew you were married, but we haven't talked about your marriage yet. How long have you been married to your husband?"
"Just over a year."
"Alright. How long have you been in a relationship with him?"
"We got together in May of 2009. We broke up in 2010 for a couple months, but we got back together and were engaged in November. We both just don't count those couple months we broke up and call it three years."
"I see, so tell me about your husband."
"What do you want to know?"
"Let's start with his name and how long you've known him."
"His name is Randy. I've known him for over seventeen years."
"Seventeen years? You met him when you were twelve?"
"Yeah, we both lived close enough that we went to the same schools. He's two years older than me, so he was a couple grades above me in school. He was friends with my older brother and my cousin, still is actually."
"Oh, I see. So you knew each other for quite some time before you ended up in a relationship."
"Yes, anything else?"
"What's his career?"
"Also a professional wrestler."
"So you two travel together?"
"Yeah, usually."
"Do you two still have alone time? You work together, travel together, and live together."
"Yeah, and I'll be getting a lot of that for a while."
"Because of your issues?"
"Because of the thing that caused our issues."
"How frequently have you two had issues since getting married?"
"Just a few times."
"So this isn't common for you two?"
"No, it's not."
"What have you had issues over in the past?"
"Well…when we got married, my brother was dating this woman who had been with Randy years before this. She came to the wedding and told Randy that he was the father of her son during the wedding reception. He was wanting to get close to the kid, who turned out not to be his. However, during all this, it made me feel a bit neglected. We got through it. We also had some stress and small issues when we tried to get pregnant. It wasn't happening, and I wanted to work again. We got through it. We've always been able to get through our issues."
"So you two seem really close. Are you close enough that you tell each other everything?"
I roll my eyes. "Usually."
"So one of you didn't tell the other one something, and now there's issues?"
I give Dr. Sullivan an impressed look. "You're good. He didn't tell me something that he didn't think was a big deal, but I thought it was a big deal. We argued about it. I said some things that I probably shouldn't have. We haven't talked since."
"What was this thing that was a big deal?"
"My husband got suspended from work for two months. I found out from a phone call from a friend. I still don't know why he's suspended."
"Ah, I see. We're out of time, so I'll leave you with this. When you're ready, talk to your husband about this and figure out his whole situation."
I nod. "Alright."
