Chapter 21 - Past Life
The Doctor and Rose danced for several hours. Rose still couldn't believe he had been so bold. Granted, the more she thought of the events of the evening, she realized that he had planned the entire thing. When she asked him about it, he only told her that he knew her better than she knew herself.
They popped back into their sitting room at the flat. Rose took her shoes off immediately.
"Heals? How did I not notice that?" the Doctor complained.
Rose laughed at him. "Says the man that has drank an entire keg of beer by himself."
"But, I wasn't wearing heals!" he said as walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.
Rose couldn't help herself. "So, you are planning on wearing heals next time?"
He looked confused at her. "What?"
She sat down on the sofa, laughing at him. "Nevermind. Ugh. What are we going to do with all of those Roses?"
He walked over and handed Rose a bottle of water as he sat next to her on the sofa. "Oh, I have no idea. I didn't think about that. The cleaning service will be in tomorrow morning, we can just have them do something with them."
"Oh! I have a brilliant idea! Send them to Mum's! Tell her they are from Dad! Fill up her room like they did ours!"
He laughed under his breath. "That is brilliant! Yes! Let's do that. Pete needs all the help he can get."
"Is it really that bad?"
He ran his hand through his hair as he drank the bottle of water. "Well, I think they will be alright. He's getting some good advice from someone who has done the same, stupid thing. Many times."
"I think that's why you are so good at this now." Rose told him.
He turned to look in her eyes as he started to speak through their new connection. 'Do you really think so? I think I'm on the verge of a major screw up at any moment.'
'You worry too much.' Rose told him as she leaned in to kiss him.
He lay his arm on the back of the sofa as he looked at her. He tucked her hair behind her ear.
'What was that?' she asked him.
'I couldn't see you. Your hair was covering your face.' he told her.
'I love you in my head. It's like I'm being held by you, even if you aren't touching me. How far away can we be and still hear one another like this?'
'Anywhere in the universe. We are one. Two parts of a whole.' he told her as he smiled.
'I thought I would hear... like chatter in my head, like your thoughts.'
He shook his head and drank his water. 'Nah, I keep my wandering mind shielded. I don't want to make you suffer hearing that. It's always going. Even when I sleep.'
'Are you sleeping?'
'I have you know that I slept for over an hour last night. Or this morning. Whatever. That's a long time for me.'
'How much sleep are you really supposed to have?'
'I'm not telling you that. Then you will start making me do it. No.'
'Slippery old man.'
'Yeah, but you love this slippery old man.' he teased her.
'I do.'
'Rose, are you really going to marry me?'
'You know I will.'
'Are we really going to adopt Genie? Will I really be Daddy?'
'Yes!'
He shook his head. 'What a month it has been!'
'Do you think Genie will ever call me Mum?' Rose asked him seriously.
He looked at her. 'Honestly, no. I really doubt it. She remembers her Mum. She doesn't really remember her Dad. She says I look like he did. He even had a beard. He liked to dance as well. I think she's coping with this situation because she feels like she has that man back. I don't want to correct her because she is so fragile. What do you think I should do about this?'
'Let it go. One day she'll put together and by then you will really be her Daddy. I think it will work itself out.' Rose told him.
He nodded. 'Yeah, you are probably right. I just don't want her hurt her. Tomorrow is going to be so hard for her. She's never going to forget it. No matter how much she tries.'
'Did you go to any funerals or memorials or anything for your - '
He was already shaking his head. 'No. If there was one, I ran away from it. I have been to funerals of friends before, but family. No. By the time I had heard they had died, they had already been ... um... I don't know the word.'
'Buried?' Rose helped.
'No, Time Lords are never buried. Their body has to be burned. Completely destroyed.'
Rose looked surprised. 'Why?'
'A Time Lord's body is a miracle. I can't explain why. And, I'm not trying to pump my ego. Just trust me. There are people out there who would tear the universe apart to get a molecule of a Time Lord. When I thought I was dying, I made Howie, Pete and Jake promise me to destroy my body upon my death.'
'So, they knew?'
He shook his head. 'No. I didn't tell them. I made them promise me the night we brought Genie back. They assumed I was reeling from Melissa's death. They didn't question it.'
'Do you think this body will regenerate?' Rose asked him.
'I imagine it will. And that will be a very hard thing to explain to Genie. So, I hope I can get several hundred more years out of it before I deal with that." he said as he drank more of his water.
'You have never told me how you regenerated before I met you. I know once was from old age. Once was because of me. How else?'
He looked at her with his face wrinkled up. 'What? Why would you want to know that?'
'Curious. Is it something you can tell me?'
'Well, yeah. But I just find it weird. Morbid. Like a scorecard of death.'
'But you didn't die. You regenerated.'
'Same thing, really. It feels like dying. I stop being me, and a new man walks away.'
'You don't have to tell me-'
'No. You will be my wife. That's something you can know. I mean if you want to. I still find it strange.'
'If I had died over and over. Wouldn't you want to know why?' Rose asked him.
'Well, that is a good point. Okay. First time was old age. Extreme old age. Hell, I ended up on the moon for 450 million years in that incarnation. Not to mention everything else! I had really worn thin.'
'And then the second time, well, there's a lot more to that story that I don't want to really tell you tonight. I'll tell you sometime. But, I'll just say that it was forced on me to regenerate by the Time Lords after I was found guilty ...with some...stuff. I was exiled, lost the TARDIS, it was involved.'
Rose looked surprised. 'Exiled where?'
'Here. Earth. With another face. I had to get a job and live among humans. Just like I'm doing now.'
Rose laughed. 'I had no idea. What did you do?'
'I worked for UNIT...similar to Torchwood. Met some of the best people I've ever known.'
'See, and I thought this was all new to you. No wonder you are coping alright.'
'Nah, you are here to help me or I would have completely lost my mind. Especially after losing my senses, being sick, losing my TARDIS. Ugh, just everything. This has really been very different.'
'You are alright though, right?' Rose asked him.
He picked her legs up and put them in his lap. He ran his hand up her skirt and rubbed her thigh. 'Yes. I'm Rose alright. It took a while to get here, but I'm okay. Pete asks me everyday how I am. I wonder if he still thinks I'm going to do a runner?'
Rose smiled, 'I love what you are doing with my leg. Okay, so what happened to the third you?'
'Radiation poisoning.'
'Fourth?'
'I fell off of a ...um... radio telescope. That was a hard one. I had to go recover for a while from that in Castrovalva. Which lead to another bit of trouble that we won't get into.'
'Fifth?'
'I was poisoned. Spectrox tozaemia. And that was terrifying.'
'Why?'
'Well, for the first time. I really didn't think I would regenerate. Maybe I had gotten older and realized I wasn't immortal. My companion, Peri, was poisoned as well. I only had one antidote, so I gave it to her. She ended up married to King Yrcanos of Thoros Alpha, a warrior king!'
'She was human?'
He nodded. 'An American! Howie would be proud!'
Rose laughed at him. 'You're an idiot. Okay, what number is that?'
'We are on the Sixth now.' he rubbed his chin and thought. 'I don't remember. Is that strange?'
'Who was with you?' Rose helped.
'Oh! That's right! I crashed the TARDIS. The Rani attacked me and I crash landed.'
'My god!' Rose exclaimed.
'Oh, it gets worse. You really want to know this?'
'We are nearly halfway there. I suppose if you are good, I'm alright.'
'I'm serious. Worse!'
'Just hold me tight and tell me. I do want to know.'
He sat back on the couch as Rose leaned her back into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. She leaned her forehead into his chin.
'Ugh... okay. I was shot and the idiot doctor's killed me. I told you about that.'
'Yes. I remember that.'
'Then I was in another crash. On a spaceship. I was trying to save this pilot, and as soon as she found out I was a Time Lord, she ran from me. I properly died in that crash. I had to drink a potion to come back to life then. That's when I stopped being the Doctor and was the Warrior for that time.' he gritted his teeth.
Rose could feel his extreme disappointment in himself. How much he hated himself.
'Sweetheart, it was war. People become different people during wars.' Rose told him.
'Yeah, I suppose you are right.'
'I thought you said you couldn't tell me if you had been brought back to life?'
'No, I said I couldn't tell you if the Time Lords brought me back to life. That was the Sisterhood of Karn. Completely different.'
'Wow. Then there's when you saved me which caused a regeneration.'
He shook his head. 'No, you are forgetting I am really the eleventh. I didn't use the title I use now then, so I don't count it. But it counted. I died of old age again after the war.'
'How long after the war ended did you regenerate?'
'I don't know, minutes afterwards.'
'So, you fought in that entire Time War and died of old age? Probably brought back to life several times?'
'I didn't say that, but yes.'
'Damn, that had to have been a long war.'
'With a TARDIS Time Traveling in it, too. It made it even longer.'
'No wonder you would want to forget that old title. After all of those years, in a war with it?'
'See! You get it! Exactly!' he agreed.
'That explains so much about you. And then you were the man in leather.'
He smiled at her, 'And I met you.'
She turned around and faced him. He leaned in and kissed her. He ran his hand up her skirt and rubbed her bum. She ran her fingers through his hair.
He started to sing again in her head. 'Those fingers through my hair!'
She laughed under his kiss. "You are an idiot."
He leaned back and looked at her. "You know, I'm glad I told you about all of that. I don't want to talk about it, but it makes me feel better to know you know that about me now. Is that weird?"
"I don't see you any differently. I only love you more."
"This is the best therapy." he laughed at her.
"How many beers did you have tonight, old man?"
"Old man had... ugh...I have no idea. I lost count."
"Fourteen!" Rose told him.
"Nah, you are mistaken. No way."
"Hell, you had eight before you got up to sing!"
"How do you think I was able to do that?" he reasoned.
"Then six more?"
"Well, you had me dancing. I got thirsty!"
"We should have said you were from Ireland the way you drink."
"Or Scotland! Then I could complain about things!" he laughed.
She leaned in and kissed him again.
'Are you drunk old man?' Rose asked him.
'Proper drunk my lady!'
Rose laughed.
'Let me take you to bed then, my gentle sir!'
"Oh! Quoting Shakespeare!?" he got excited. He ran his hand through his hair confused. "I think that's Shakespeare."
She stood up, took his hand and lead him into the bedroom.
Once he got here, he sat down on the side of the bed and took off his trainers. He took off his jacket and shirt and tossed them on the floor.
Rose walked into the bathroom.
"The cleaning service is going to be hate me with this mess." he told Rose.
Rose walked back out of the bathroom. "See, you never told me about a cleaning service. What is that about?"
He threw his hands up. "Hell, I'm not going to clean up this place! I don't have time for that! I don't expect you to either! The TARDIS always cleaned itself! This is the next, best thing!"
Rose looked at him seriously. "Really? That's what you are going to say?"
He hung his head. "Okay, it was included in the flat's price. I didn't fight it."
Rose laughed at him and walked into the bathroom. 'You are so funny. I just love you.'
He took off his jeans and dropped them on the floor. He climbed into the bed and lay back on the stack of pillows. He took off his socks and threw them at the Zeppelin floating past the window. "Damn Zeppelin! Take that! HA!"
Then he had a brilliant idea. He clapped and his football flew to him. He took aim at the Zeppelin just as Rose was walking out of the bathroom wearing her robe.
"Stop! What the hell are you doing? You will break that window! Idiot!"
She walked over and took the football from him.
"Crazy old man!" she fussed at him.
He laughed at her and rubbed his face. "Oh hell, relax. I couldn't have thrown it that far anyway. That Zeppelin was moving. Well, for a Zeppelin."
Rose stood and looked at him. "Oh my. You are trashed!"
"I am not!" he told her.
"Fourteen beers and damn whiskey? You are positivity trashed."
He rubbed his face. "Maybe you are right."
"Will you even remember our chat in the morning?"
"About what?"
Rose tossed up her hands. "I'm going to say probably not."
"What did we talk about?"
Rose put her hands on her hips and looked at him.
"You look so beautiful standing there in the middle of all of those Roses. I'm giving that Michelle a raise. She did a hell of a job tonight!"
Rose continued to stare at him.
"What?" he asked her.
She smiled. "Close your eyes."
He looked at her questionability. "Why?"
"Do you trust me?" Rose asked him.
"Most of the time. Why?" he laughed.
She laughed at him. "Close your eyes, old man. Trust me. And no peeking."
He giggled and closed his eyes. "Peeking, China! I need to take you there for some noodles, Rose."
Rose laughed at him. She took off her robe and climbed on top of him.
"No peeking." she whispered to him.
"Okay." he whispered back and laughed.
She smiled at his silly look on his face as she sat on his waist.
"I'm going to take your hands and rub them on my body. I have total control of you. Okay? No peeking."
"Ugh! Rose wishes I become blind!" he complained.
She took his hands and put them on her body. He ran his hands down her sides and then back up to her shoulders. Then down her chest, down the sides of her breasts. He stopped and cupped both of her breasts gently.
Rose could feel his excitement growing.
Rose ask, "Do you like this?"
"Oh, yes I do! It feels like you are wearing more lingerie. Is this some I've seen before?"
"No. Something new."
She moved his hands down to her waist. She leaned back, away from him. "Stiffen your fingers."
"How many?"
"Two. Two together."
He did as he asked and gave her two of his fingers. She pushed them together and he felt the unmistakable feeling that she had put his fingers on her clit and was rubbing it. She started to moan.
"Oh, please tell me I can open my eyes! This is so erotic! I can't see you, but I can feel my favorite parts."
"No. Keep your eyes closed." she whispered to him. "Give me your other hand and two more fingers."
He did as he was asked. He felt as she slid his other fingers into her wet slit. She used his other fingers to rub her clit. She began to moan loudly.
"Oh my god, woman! Let me take this over! This is killing me!"
She panted, "No peeking, yet."
"Woman, are you going to make me beg!?"
She rubbed her sensitive areas in all the ways he normally did, with very little differences. She moaned loudly.
"You are so wet." He gritted his teeth. "Please let me have you now."
She pulled down his pants and put him inside of her. She moved up and down giving them both the friction they needed.
'Okay, I'm taking over now. I can't take this anymore.' he told her as he opened his eyes and sat up to hold her. He crashed his lips into hers. She was lost in her pleasure. He slipped out of her and grabbed two pillows. He stacked them up and encouraged her lay her stomach across them.
He raised up behind her and slipped back in her and thrust as he kissed her back. Both of them moaned.
'That angle. It's great!' Rose told him.
"Yeah." he breathed.
He was thrusting faster than he normally did inside of her.
'Please. Kiss me.' Rose begged him.
He slipped out of her and threw the pillows on the floor. She rolled over as he climbed back on top of her. She put him back inside of her as he met her lips. He raised his hands to the sides of her face. He kissed her gently.
'You don't kiss like you are drunk at all. You kiss by the book!'
He snapped back and looked at her again. "That's Shakespeare! Why are you quoting Shakespeare?"
"Listen mate. If I'm quoting that, it is an accident. I don't read that stuff!"
He looked questionability at her. "I'll worry about it in two minutes."
Rose laughed at him. "Two minutes. Okay."
He was finished two minutes and fifty-six minutes later. Both of them were covered in sweat. He lay down next to her panting. "Okay, nearly three. But, who's counting?"
"You apparently!" Rose teased him.
She lay on his chest. He held her and kissed the top of her head.
"We need to get you a treadmill. I just realized you don't have one. Get one tomorrow. Also, have you seen a dining room in here?"
"You've lost a dining room?" she laughed at him.
He smiled and rubbed his face, "Yeah."
"It's behind the kitchen. It's pretty big. I know why you haven't seen it though. It's sortof hidden away."
"Really? Hmm... Is there a place for some bookshelves? We can start a small library there."
"Sure!"
"Okay, buy some shelves, too. Just whatever you want. I'll put them up. Also, get us something to play music on in here and in the sitting room. Anything is better than my phone."
Rose laughed. "I should be writing this down. You are giving me quite a list."
"Yeah, sorry about that. What am I saying? I'll can do it. Just let me do it."
"No, I'll do it. Don't worry about it."
"Oh! Another thing -"
She raised up and laughed at him. "You are crazy! What has got you so wound up?"
He smiled. "I'm not! Just thinking about stuff."
She snuggled up into his shoulder.
"Nevermind. I'll do it." he told her.
"No, what's the other thing?"
"Well, now there is three other things."
"You aren't kidding that Time Lord brain going all the time! Are you still drunk?"
"No, not so much." he sighed. "We didn't call to check on Genie before she went to sleep."
"Don't worry about it. She's alright. She's with mum. I had fun tonight. Thank you for everything."
"Even the fourteen beers?" he smiled.
"Especially the fourteen beers! I wish Jake and the guys could have seen you sing. They would have never believed that."
He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Oh, if you only knew."
