SmackDown Filming: June 5, 2012
I continue to beat on the punching bag that was in my locker-room. I once again had nothing to do tonight, and I was getting sick of it. I'm the Divas Champion. I should be wrestling matches, but I'm not. I'm going to have to do something about it.
Ryse walks in. "You look like you're in a bad mood."
I stop beating on the punching bag. "I'm a bit mad, so yeah."
"Because of everything going on with Randy?"
"Well, there's that. I don't have a match yet again. What am I even doing here if I'm not wrestling?"
"That's a reasonable complaint, but you have to get through to Laurinaitis. He's not even here tonight."
"Who's doing his job tonight? Eve?"
"No, from what I heard, it's Teddy Long."
"That's fantastic news. I know what I'm doing."
"You do."
"Yeah, if Teddy can't approve a match himself, I'll at least be able to convince him to get me in touch with John Laurinaitis."
"How do you get John Laurinaitis to approve it though?"
"I'll find a way to make it work. I always do."
"I hope you do."
"I will. Plus, I'm pushing for promo time tonight."
"That's a good step."
"I know it is. I'll make it work in my favor."
I know I want that girl so bad
I lie awake at night
And think of all the things that I would do
With a girl like that…
I enter the ring and grab a microphone. "I'm the Divas Champion. I have been Divas Champion for over a month now. I've been busting my ass and doing my favorite thing in the world, which is to wrestle. Beth Phoenix keeps criticizing what I do in this ring, but that isn't going to stop me. Everyone needs to understand that I won't back down. Beth is dominant, and she's probably one of the best women to ever lace up a pair of boots. I'll admit that, but if that's what she is, what am I? I've been here a bit longer than her. I believe I've been a champion more times than her. However, everyone seems to think Beth is gonna beat me. Yes, she's beaten me in the past, but I've been here about eight years. I'm still continuing to get better. She's gotten comfortable. I'm never comfortable because I keep busting my ass to be the best. I am the best, and let it be known that at No Way Out, I'm taking Beth down for good."
("Glamazon" plays)
Beth enters the ring with a microphone. "Marissa, you won't be taking me down. I'm a professional wrestler, and you're just a Barbie doll. Actually, you are the epitome of what is wrong with our Divas division in the first place. You came into WWE with no experience. You came in with a bunch of models. You got thrown in with the wrestlers immediately without being taught anything."
"Wait a second, Beth. Don't act like you know what I was doing. I was around well before you were. You don't have a damn clue what I was doing. Yes, I never went to developmental, but I was here every day we had a show as early as possible and busting my ass to get better in this ring. The list of people who I kept going to for advice reads like a list of the WWE legends. I took my time working with the best, so I could be at my best in this ring. This was long before you got here, so there's a history lesson for ya. I'm not anything less than you in the ring, so keep underestimating me, Beth. That's gonna be your downfall."
Beth Clotheslines me down in the ring. I get up and head after her, but she escapes to the backstage area. I raise my Divas Championship in the air.
I could not wait to face Beth at No Way Out and finish this for good.
I immediately go from walking backstage to looking for Teddy Long's office. I find the office and walk straight in, without even knocking. When I walk in, Teddy is in the middle of a phone call.
"Is that John Laurinaitis?" I ask.
Teddy looks at me and nods.
"Tell him I have something to say to him."
Teddy gives me a thumbs up. "Uh…Mr. Laurinaitis, someone is here in my office and wants to speak to you…well, it's Marissa Orton."
Teddy looks at me and rolls his eyes as he listens to Laurinaitis. "I don't know what about. She just came in here and said that she had something to say to you."
I cross my arms as I wait to see if I can talk to Laurinaitis.
"He'll talk. Here." Teddy hands me his cell phone.
I take the phone from Teddy Long.
Me: "Hello?"
Laurinaitis: "What do you want, Marissa?"
Me: "I want to wrestle."
Laurinaitis: "Look, I'm not scheduling any more matches for the SmackDown Filming tonight."
Me: "I never said tonight. I'm just telling you that I want to wrestle. I'm sure you don't have all of Raw next week planned out. Give me a match. I haven't wrestled since Over the Limit. I don't even care what the match is. Just let me wrestle."
Laurinaitis: "You don't care what the match is?"
Me: "Just give me something, Laurinaitis."
Laurinaitis: "Fine. You can have a Mixed Tag Team match on Monday. You'll face Beth. You can both pick your partners. Good luck with that since your husband can't be around. If you don't find a partner and she does, you'll be in a Handicap match. Now, give the phone back to Teddy."
I hand the phone to Teddy. "Thanks, Teddy. I'm gonna head out."
I exit the office, and Ryse gives me a serious look. I sigh.
"So…?" Ryse asks.
"I have a Mixed Tag Team match on Monday. Beth and I are both supposed to find a partner. If I can't and she does, I'm stuck in a Handicap match." I explain.
"What are you going to do?"
"I'll think it over for a few days before calling and asking someone to be my partner. He thinks I'll be out of luck since Randy isn't around. He's wrong."
