Should I call this chapter onward a new part? Should this chapter be chapter 1 of the new part?
Scene 1 or Rehearsal 4: watch me do my shit.
Rin opened her eyes, blinking in disbelief over what she had just dreamed of.
"That was a hella weird...dream? Nightmare?" she mumbled, rubbing the back of her neck. She had dreamed about the whole dinner, except it wasn't really a dinner. It was more like some club but at the same time it wasn't.
She took out her earbuds and closed her laptop. "Am I really that nervous about the dinner?" Rin wondered out loud.
Suddenly, Miku barged into Rin's room.
"Whoa! What happened!? Why're you here!?" Rin cried, quickly standing up.
"What do you mean!? Oh, don't tell me you forgot!?" Miku asked.
"About what?" Rin asked.
Miku sighed. "About the dinner!"
"Trust me, I didn't forget about it," Rin said. I had a whole fucking nightmare about it...
"Then let's go! I'm getting my hair and makeup done! I'm on my way to becoming a pop diva!" Miku cried, spinning around.
Rin found herself smiling. Miku's happy. She should be too. She ended up forgetting about the dream.
"I wonder what song we're going to sing. There's been no word about it yet," Miku wondered out loud.
Rin froze. She still doesn't have a song ready. "Oh...well...you know how show business is..."
"True true. So, anyway..." Miku rambled on as she left Rin's room.
As son as she was gone, Rin quickly looked under her bed and found her notebook where her stories were safely hidden from the world. "Lovey dovey song...lovey dovey song..." she mumbled as she flipped through the pages.
She landed on a story called Magnet. "This'll work," she decided.
She dug into her pockets for her phone. As she did, she remembered the cruel fate her phone had met. "Len better gimme my fucking phone at the end of this dinner."
Originally, she was going to take pictures of Magnet. However, she can't. She couldn't ask for Miku's phone either. Miku would find out what's really going. So, she had no choice but to bring the whole book with her. She didn't feel comfortable taking it outside of the house but it was a necessity.
She grabbed her book bag and shoved the notebook inside. Then, she swung the straps over her shoulders and ran downstairs.
"You're still wearing you school uniform?" Miku asked.
"Should I change?" Rin asked.
"We don't have time! We have to go now!" Miku cried, running out of the house. Rin followed.
Waiting outside of Rin's house was a convertible sports car that was white with electric blue stripes. Kaito was sitting at the steering wheel, drinking a drink from Starbucks. He had sunglasses on and was vibing to the music playing to the car. He took his sunglasses off when Miku arrived at the car.
"You got her?" Kaito asked Miku.
"I thought you're Len's manager?" Rin asked.
"And Miku's. Both of them are an act. When Miku gets more famous, she'll have her own manager. Maybe. Or, I'll just continue to be her manager," Kaito answered.
Miku moved the passenger seat to the front and Rin crawled to the back. Once Rin was sitting, Miku moved the seat back and sat back down. She put on Kaito's sunglasses as Kaito drove away. "Fame! Here I come!"
The arrived at Vocaloid Entertainment, the record label Len's from. There were school girls camping out with WE LOVE YOU KAGAMINE LEN posters in their hands.
"This is sad that girls are literally that obsessed over some guy," Rin said as Kaito drove into the underground parking area.
"It's Len," Kaito replied with a shrug.
"Oooo, soon guys will be doing that for me!" Miku cried.
Rin blinked. "You want creeps to be stalking you?"
"Yeah," Miku answered without hesitation, turning so she was facing Rin.
"You're so weird," Rin said.
"In this business, you gotta expect there to be creeps," Miku said. Rin couldn't argue with that.
When they entered the lobby, they were introduced to the posters of the stars, nicknamed Vocaloids, that were part of the record label. Miku knew all of the Vocaloids. She kept on pointing them out to Rin.
Kaito went to the front desk. The receptionist blushed. "H-Hi...Mr. Shion..."
"How old is Kaito? He's a teacher, but he looks like he's our age. And that lady just called him Mr. Shion," Rin asked Miku as Kaito flirted with the receptionist. When she got no answer, she looked next to her to see what Miku was doing.
Miku was staring at a large poster of one of the Vocaloids. This Vocaloid in particular stood out. Her frame, for one, was gold. Nobody else's frames were gold. She has a king's crown and a ball gown on. She held a microphone and its stand like a scepter and was sitting on a throne. Rin looked at the name at the bottom of the picture.
Sweet Ann.
"I know Sweet Ann. My mom doesn't like her though," Rin said, feeling a little bit intimidated.
"Yeah. She's the Queen of the Vocaloids..." Miku answered, refusing to look away from the picture.
"She looks a little like Len," Rin said.
"Yeah. She's Len's mom so of course she looks a little bit like Len," Miku answered.
Rin blinked. "Fureal?"
"Yeah. Everyone knows that. Duh," Miku said as if it were the most obvious thing. Then she glanced at an empty spot on the wall. "One day, my picture will be hung up there."
They then heard the loud clomp of high heals. "Yes. Yes. No. That was from Paris Fashion Week last year. Nobody's going to wear that again. No. Do you not understand no!?" The owner of the high heals shrieked.
"Ladies, introducing Akita Neru. The youngest top fashion designer at just 22. Didn't have to go to no design school. Been doing this for 5 years. Now she's one of the top designers. She's sorta our pride and joy," Kaito explained, popping out of nowhere.
Miku squealed. "OMG! I'm talking to Akita Neru!"
"Hold on, I have to deal with something," Neru said before putting her phone down. "Who are you?"
"I'm doing the duet with Len!" Miku cried.
"I see," Neru said. Then she saw Rin. "You look similar to Len."
"That's because they're twins!" Miku cried.
Rin resisted the urge to face palm. This girl gotta shut up!
Neru, however, didn't look impressed. "They're...twins?"
"Yeah, but it's a secret!" Miku cried.
Neru looked Rin up and down. "I'm close to Len. He would have told me by now if he had a twin sister or not."
"Anyway, Neru will help you get ready for the dinner party," Kaito said.
Miku lit up. "Really!? Will I be wearing your latest designs!?"
"I was told all this last minute so don't expect anything nice," Neru said.
"I'm spending time with Akita Neru and I'm wearing one of her designs! This is a dream come true! Yay!" Miku cried.
"We should hurry up," Neru said before talking to the person she left on hold and walking away. Miku eagerly followed.
"We have work to do too," Kaito said, dragging Rin to the elevator.
When they stopped at a floor, Rin followed Kaito out of the elevator and down the hall. "Okay, so you might have to be quiet entering this place," Kaito said when they arrived at a room.
He opened the door, revealing the room to be a recording studio. Len was in the booth, singing the first things that came to his mind as a producer and a group of guys messed around with the melody being played..
"He's good, right?" Kaito asked.
"Even his freestyles are pervy," Rin answered, cringing.
"You and Len be nice to each other. I came to Japan not for Len, but for other things. Ima busy man!" Kaito cried before running off.
When Len saw Rin standing there, he signaled for the producer to stop and he took off his headphones.
"I'll catch y'all later!" Len told the other guys as they left. He sat down when it was just him and Rin.
"First thing's first. I want my new phone now," Rin said.
"You'll get it if this dinner party is good or not," Len answered.
"Bruh! Just gimme my phone!" Rin cried.
"So? You write a song yet?" Len asked, ignoring what Rin had just said.
"You're lucky I have this book," Rin mumbled.
"What book?" Len asked.
Rin sat down, brought her book bag to her lap, and opened it. She pulled out the notebook and flipped to the Magnet page. "We can use the melody you were just freestyling over."
Len glanced over the words. "Bro. You expect me to sing all that?"
"I'm obviously gonna convert it into song version. Duh," Rin said. Then a thought crossed her mind. "You were freestyling and making up your own lyrics as you went. Why can't you do that instead of getting a songwriter to write you shit?"
"Okay...so I guess Miku won't be a popstar..." Len said, scooting away from Rin.
"Wait! Never mind! Damn, you're so annoying," Rin cried before digging inside her book bag for notebook paper.
Len stood up. "Okay. You have fun. I gotta run!"
"Where?" Rin asked.
"So you can work on my song and so I can have fun before the dinner party," Len answered.
"You're staying. I need to know if some parts will fit you, dumbass," Rin said.
Len was about to protest but Rin narrowed her eyes at him.
"You listened to my songs though, right?" Len asked, lying down on the couch.
"Lovey dovey and pervy," Rin answered.
"Exactly! So put that in the song you're writing!" Len cried.
Rin rolled her eyes and got to work. A few minutes later, the song was finished.
"Whoa! That fast!?" Len cried, sitting up.
"Like I told you. I had to convert it from story to song. This is the one and only draft of this song. I put little signs that tells which parts are your parts and which parts are Miku's. Your welcome. Record your parts," Rin answered, handing Len the song she just wrote.
"Don't this sound innocent but not?" Len asked.
"Duh. Miku's singing with you. She's the most innocent girl I know," Rin answered.
"But at least add some words like-" "Shut up. I'm not listening. You wanted me to be your songwriter, right? So get in the booth so I can record your parts. We can worry about Miku's later," Rin said, cutting Len off.
"At least sing Miku's parts so I can have an idea of how the song's supposed to go," Len said.
"Nope," Rin said.
"Why? Too shy?" Len taunted.
"I can't sing," Rin answered.
"At least try. It's only me listening to you," Len said.
"No. I'm good," Rin said.
"Oh...so I guess you're not getting your phone..." Len said.
Rin blinked. "Bruh! You said I'll get it if the dinner party's good!"
"Yeah, but it won't be good if I fuck up the song. So sing Miku's parts so I can know how it's supposed to go," Len answered.
Rin sighed and took the song from Len's hands. "You sly fox..."
She cleared her throat and sang Miku's parts. As she sang, Len crossed his arms and wore a serious look on his face.
"Um? Hello?" Rin asked when she was done.
"You can sing. Liar," Len said.
"Why you look so serious?" Rin asked, ignoring what Len just said.
"Miku can lip sing, right? Cuz I don't think we got enough time to record her parts," Len asked.
"No. I'm not singing her parts," Rin said.
"But think about it. It makes sense, right?" Len asked.
"We can just call Miku right now and get her to record her parts. Stupid," Rin said, rolling her eyes.
Len studied Rin. "What?" Rin asked.
"Do you...like Miku?" Len asked.
"Duh. She's my best friend," Rin answered.
"No, as in like like! Romantically!" Len cried.
"What!? No!" Rin cried.
"Cuz you're willing to do anything for her to become a popstar," Len said.
"Obviously. I'm her best friend. It's sorta my job to support her in any way I can," Rin said.
"Is this Magnet song about Miku?" Len asked.
"You know what? No more song for you," Rin said, preparing to rip the song in half.
"Damn! Fine! I'll shut up!" Len cried.
Rin handed Len the song and got up. "Okay, so how do these buttons work?"
Len showed her everything soon, Rin was producing the song as Len recorded his part. Throughout the recording process, they argued a few time about the sound. Later on, they played it back so they could listen to the song.
"Okay. All we need are Miku's parts," Rin said.
"We make a good team, right?" Len asked, holding his fist so they could fist bump.
"Give my my new phone and I'll get back to you on that," Rin answered.
"Lemme call Kaito to get Miku down here," Len said, searching for his phone.
Rin started packing up her stuff as Len FaceTimed Kaito. When Len ended the call, he faced Rin. "She's coming. Your welcome. She was in the middle of hair and makeup I think."
"Okay. I'm leaving now," Rin said.
"Why? Don't you wanna go to the dinner?" Len asked.
"I have work," Rin answered, sliding her book bag onto her back.
"So skip it," Len answered.
"You're funny," Rin said as she walked out of the room.
As she walked down the hallway, she debated changing her mind and going to the dinner. But she still had work and what would she do there anyway?
Into the evening, Rin was stuck at work at 24 hour corner store. Nobody was in the store so Rin had taken the time to turn all of her stories into songs just in case Len needs a song and she doesn't have the time to write one. The TV that was hanging on the wall was broadcasting the dinner where Len and Miku were to perform. Currently, it was broadcasting the celebrities who have arrived.
"And look at Meiko's dress! Wow! Did Akita Neru design that for you?" A reporter asked.
Meiko, a top actress, laughed as she posed in the long and tight red dress that outlined her curves. "Me? Wearing one of Akita Neru's designs!? Hell no! This was designed by Yuezheng Longya! He's a great designer!"
"Wow! It looks so beautiful! Maybe I'll add some of his designs to my closet!" The reporter cried.
Meiko winked before entering the hall.
Rin stopped paying attention and went back to work. She heard a group of girls enter the store so she closed her notebook and pushed it to the side. "Welcome."
"I'm so jealous! I heard Len chose a girl already to do his duet!" One of the girls said as they stocked up on snacks.
"It's just been one day! How can it be that fast!?" Another girl cried.
"I bet she ain't even that good or pretty!" A third girl cried.
Rin resisted the urge to fight them. She's fought a group of girls before in this very shop. One more fight and she's fired. She can't afford to get fired.
"OMG! Look! It's Kagamine Len!" The first girl cried, pointing to the TV on the wall. Rin faced the TV to see what they meant.
Len was getting out of the limo with Miku. They both had outfits that were matching. Len looked like a modern day prince while Miku had a long blue dress that reached the floor and high heels that looked like glass slippers. They must be going for a Cinderella look. Miku looked so excited to be there while Len, who was obviously used to all this, looked laid back.
"Are you the girl who Len has chosen for the duet?" A reporter asked.
"Yeah! I'm Hatsune Miku! I'm so excited to be given this opportunity! This is a dream come true!" Miku cried.
Len put his arm around Miku and smiled. "We have a treat for you guys later!"
"I wish I was next to him! He's so dreamy!" The girls cried.
A few hours later, Rin was done with her shift when Len and Miku's performance came on. Miku looked a little shy while on stage but Len managed to get her to loosen up as they sang. It was hard for Rin to believe that was her song they were singing. I'm glad things went well. Now I can finally have a phone again.
it was 12:56am when Len arrived at Club Fire.
"I don't get why we can't hire a bodyguard or something," Kaito said as Len put on his disguise so he could enter the club without anyone figuring out who he was. They were both in a black van parked in front of the club.
"That'll draw too much attention and I don't trust nobody. I don't want anybody else knowing that I gotta deal with this shit," Len answered, adjusting his fake glasses. He was going for the hipster nerd look. He had a gray beanie on, a white buttoned down shirt under a gray Harvard hoodie, black Adidas sweatpants, and black and white checkerboard slip on Vans.
"Okay. So what's the plan? Why does this Vipperloid guy wanna see you?" Kaito asked.
"Hush money, like last time. You know, gimme all this money or ima leak all this dirt about you?" Len answered as he took a drag of his weed.
Kaito sighed. "Don't you wanna find out who this guy is?"
"Nope. Not really. It's been going on for a year, right? I'm fine," Len answered.
"But this guy don't like you. He wants to end you," Kaito said as Len passed him the weed.
"Chillax. As long as I keep on paying him hush money, he'll stay hush," Len said, grabbing a large black duffel bag off the floor and putting it on his lap. He opened the bag and checked to see if there was money still in it.
"What if he gets tired of money? What if he gets mad that it's not enough? He's been raising his price lately. One day, he's gonna leak everything anyway," Kaito said.
Len laughed as he zipped the duffel bag closed. "He has all this dirt on me. He should know more than anyone that turning his back on me is a bad idea. Everything's fine."
"Psychopath," Kaito mumbled as Len got out of the van.
All Len had to do to skip the long line and enter the club was to show his ID. When the bodyguard saw, Len put a finger to his lips, letting the bodyguard know that he doesn't want his identity to be exposed. The bodyguard let him enter the club.
As soon as he was in, he entered one of the private areas and sat down at a table. A few seconds later, a figure dressed in all black and his mouth covered with a black face mask sat down in front of him.
"Wassup, bro?" Len asked.
The figure didn't say anything.
Len put the duffel bag on the table. "This good enough for you? Don't go shooting at me like last time if it's not."
The figure unzipped the bag and looked through the money. Len studied the figure. "I know you don't talk much but I gotta question. How much dirt exactly do you have on me? Like, you always send me a little bit randomly but I wanna know how much you know."
The figure narrowed his eyes at Len.
"There some things that I don't want anyone to know, not even you. Sorry, but I plan to take some stuff to the grave with me," Len answered, calmly tapping his finger on the table.
The figure went back to checking the money.
"I been nice to you, bro. You know I coulda been working to blow your identity but I choose not to. I feel like we have a spiritual connection, you know? You're definitely my type," Len said with a smirk.
The figure didn't say anything.
Len sighed. "Playing hard to get. I see. Let me know when you want your next payday to be. Later."
The figure slid a note across the table to Len. Len grabbed it and read it.
Who is Hiyama Kiyoteru?
*Casually playing WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion on repeat as I type up this whole chapter*
Wassup! It's ya gurl, sugarsugarrush! I'm back to updating! Yay!
Songs introduced so far:
Magnet by Ryuusei-P (original singers: Miku and Luka)
So, originally, I was gonna put Romeo and Cinderella because it was one of the first Vocaloid songs I've ever hear when I was a kid so I thought it would be cute (I first heard Levan Polka on my DSi, then World's End on my DSi, then Meltdown on YouTube, then World's Mine on YouTube, then Romeo and Cinderella on YouTube). And, Len is like Romeo while Miku is like Cinderella. But I changed it to Magnet last minute cuz it was actually a duet and cuz it just sounds nice. I know it was originally Luka and Miku who sang it but to fit this story, ima have to change some of the original singers of the songs like I did with Magnet. I was gonna type up a whole scene where Len and Miku perform the song and also have the lyrics typed up but I decided not to. Years ago when I was younger, I had another Vocaloid story and I had typed up the lyrics to the songs Tokyo Teddy Bear and Party Junkie. I sorta got yelled at by this one person over how lyrics aren't allowed and the fact that Rin is older than Len. I don't really feel like getting in trouble again so I changed my mind and made the chapter the chapter y'all are seeing right now.
Random thing of the day: Bruh. I learned something new. I was typing the first few sentences of this chapter and the word "dreamt" kept on getting a red squiggle. I was confused so I googled and shit. Turns out in America, it's "dreamed" instead of "dreamt." American English is so weird. How would you even say that in a sentence anyway? And then "grey" is in British English while "gray" is in other English. Why can't the spellings and the way you say things be the same? I'm so confused!
It's 2 in the morning and I got school on Zoom at 7:20 in the morning. So, what should I be doing? Y'all funny if y'all think ima go to sleep! Let's see if I can type up another chapter and update it sometime tonight! Or should I say morning? I'on know.
Y'all see that review thingy over there? Yeah. Leave me some reviews! Put your thoughts! Put your predictions! Put your suggestions! Put anything! I'll answer them! Or PM me if your shy! Later, yo!
