CHAPTER 3: CHECKING UP ON SNOOPY

While Charlie Brown and Sally were navigating their day though their new school, Snoopy was settling into his new house. He was laying on top napping as he usually did when he heard a giggling sound. He sat up and looked around. He didn't see anyone. He laid back down to continue his nap when he heard the giggling again. He rose up faster and went in the direction of the laughter. He wondered if the new neighbors had a cat like back in Sparkyville. He didn't want any trouble from another cat. He cautiously peaked into the next yard behind his. He saw a nose and he yelp and hid. But what came out was another beagle, a female beagle who looked cute. She was walking with purpose over toward where Snoopy was hiding.

"It's okay, I won't bite," cooed the new dog through her thoughts. Snoopy looked out to see the beautiful female beagle standing before him.

"You're not a cat next door!" Snoopy finally said.

"I should hope not," said the girl beagle. "Just wanted to meet the cute new beagle who moved in next to us."

"My name is Snoopy."

"Mine is Claudette."

"Nice to meet you, Claudette. So, what's Kansas City like around here?"

"Pretty much like any other town. Tell me, what was your old town like?"

"It was fine. Some of the kids were nice, and some not-so-nice. One kid used to hold a blanket all the time and I grab it dragging him behind me. His sister was cute but angry all the time."

"Who's the family that you live with?"

"I think their names are the Browns or something like that. I can never remember their names, especially the round-headed kid who feeds me. He's a good guy; a little clumsy and absent-minded at times, but he's always good to me."

"My owner is this girl who has blonde hair and used to live somewhere far north of here. She's at school right now, probably with your owner."

"Maybe. Anyway I need to get my place ready for my little friend Woodstock. I will be sending for him soon."

"Who's Woodstock?"

"A little bird that's my best buddy. I promised him that I would send for him as soon as we got settled here."

"I can't wait to meet the little guy. Any way, it's nice to meet you, Snoopy. Hopefully we can do something together soon.

"We will, Claudette. Talk to you later."
