Chapter 5. Sleepless Nights.
As even fell on Squirrel vile on 2727 Rock Road six siblings come home and ordered out Pizza for dinner as was their routine. As the six sat around the table and began to eat Lori decided to talk about her day.
"Well I literally had the worst day ever. All my friends at Fairway now know of the divorce our parents are going through. Bobby told them about it after I've told him about it last night. The only good thing about today was that there was a counselor on campus whom I've talked to about the whole situation. Turns out all my friends were only worried about me. So I can't blame Bobby for wanting to help out." Lori explained
"Well I've had a rather interesting talk with Carlota today. She told me that be Ronnie Anne became a Tom Boy when her parents did not divorce. Wait or was it the other way around." Leni said. Even though Leni got her words mixed up everyone knew what she meant.
After hearing this Lincoln thought about all the times Ronnie Anne would bully him for attention. From when the two first met, from the double date Lori and Bobby forced them on, from the class project they were assigned to take care of an egg together. After moving to Great Lakes City Lincoln had just as many memorable moments with Ronnie Anne there as well. Like the time she lied to her new city friends about coming from Royal Woods. So many memories good and bad Lincoln had with Ronnie Anne. However if Ronnie Anne was a different person before the divorce. Lincoln wondered what she would have been like if the two met before her parents divorced. Would she still be interested in him? Would the two still be friends?
After Leni shared her day with the family she then Looked to Lynn and asked. "So Lynn how did the basketball try outs go?"
"I made the team." Lynn said in an unenthusiastic tone. Whenever Lynn won a game or made the team she would boast about it like she was the life of the party. However after hearing her tone she sounded like it was nothing important.
"You don't sound excited, Are you alright?" Lori asked
"Lori, I've been doing it for over ten years now. Give me a break. I'm not a machine." Lynn stated in a still quiet but agitated tone.
"So how was your day Lincoln?" Lori asked
"Well, Do you remember Chandler McCann the boy who wanted all those free stuff from Gus's Game and Grub?" Lincoln asked as the memory of that ordeal came back to Lori's mind. She did remember all the free stuff he wanted and how it almost cost her a date with Bobby, and how Lincoln stepped in and took over her shift.
"Yah I remember!" Lori said in a dead pan tone.
"Well it turned out that his parents are just as divorced as ours. In fact he lives with his father in an apartment just across from were Dad, Lisa, and Lucy live." Lincoln explained.
Even though all of his sisters knew how badly Chandler treated Lincoln back in his first days of Middle School, How he ended up spending a duration at a School in Canada. To hear that the Bully to tormented Lincoln so much was now literally next door neighbors with their father and two of their sisters was something completely unexpected.
"So um how did things go between you two?" Luna asked
"We'll we're friends now. Turns out the only reason he bulled me was because he was jealous because of the life I had. Now he actually feels sorry for how he treated me." Lincoln explained.
"So you guys are friends now?" Lori asked
"Yep, we're actually getting along great. Clyde, Zach, Liam, Rusty, and Stella all seemed to be getting along with Chandler." Lincoln said
After Lincoln told his day to his five sisters he then asked. "So how was your day Luna?"
"Turns out Mazy's parents also went through what our parents are going through as well. Her mother was a real nasty about it too." Luna explained, After saying this she then turned to Luan and asked. "So how was your day Luan?"
Luan looked up with a very agitated glare and said. "Everyone is still bugging me because of the divorce so just like Lori's day."
After dinner when everyone ate, they went to their rooms. Lori, Luna, Luan, Lynn and Lincoln all caught up on homework. There were little ells that happened the rest of the evening. Later that night when all six siblings were in bed. Two of them will be haunted by Nightmares that will keep the rest of them up for the night.
….
As the six were fast asleep between ten and midnight. Lynn was dreaming. In her dream she finds herself back in her old home at 1216 Franklyn Ave. she was upstairs in her old bedroom. When she came down stairs she saw someone standing in the T.V. room. Someone who looked just like her. As she came close she saw that it was her but she looked evil. Her eyes were glowing red and her teeth looked jagged.
"Hey, Lynn!" she said in a demonic voice.
"Who…who are you?" Lynn asked in a nerves worried tone.
"Don't you know? I AM YOU!" her evil self said.
Lynn looked at her with disbelief. She can't be serious she thought to herself. At that moment the living room they were standing in faded to black and before long the two were standing in the middle of a soccer field.
"Look! See yourself as you play with your brother." Evil Lynn said
They saw Lincoln trying to kick a soccer ball but he was fumbling and stumbling.
"Common Stinkcoln! KICK THE BALL ALREADY!" Lynn shouted out with rage.
Lincoln trips over his feet and falls to the ground.
"YOU'RE USELESS!" Lynn screams at Lincoln in an agree tone. At that moment Lynn sees herself grab her baseball bat and walks up to Lincoln.
In her nightmare Lynn see's this happen right in front of her. "What! What is going to happen?" Lynn asked. Her evil doppelganger looked back at her and she said. "Stand back and watch."
At that moment with one swing of her bat.
BAM!
Lynn watched in horror as she hits Lincoln in the head with her bat. Then another swing.
BAM!
Lincoln let out a cry of pain. Lynn's red eyed evil self-laughed as she watch Lynn beat Lincoln with the baseball bat.
Lynn tried to run over to help her brother but she couldn't move.
"NO!" Lynn screamed
At that moment she through the bat to the side and tackled her brother to the ground. She grabbed his arm twisted it and loud snapping sound can be heard.
"STOP IT!" Lynn screamed
"What's Wrong Lynn? Isn't this what You've always wanted?" Evil Lynn asked
She watch her as she continued beating and kicking a seemingly lifeless Lincoln. At that moment everything went black.
The next thing Lynn saw herself in the standing in the hallway of a hospital.
"Were Am I?" Lynn asked
Her red eyed evil self was standing right in front of her.
"You remember that beating you've gave your brother a while ago. Why don't you check out how he is doing?" Her evil self said.
At that moment right in front of Lynn was a room that had Lincoln Loud's name on it. She walked in and saw that her brother was bandaged up with his arm in a cast. Lynn rushed over to her brother's bedside and pleaded with him. "Lincoln, I'm Sorry! Please Forgive Me?" at that moment Lincoln reached down with his good arm and grabbed a baseball bat that was next to his bed. He swung it in Lynn's face knocking her to the ground. Lynn ran out of the hospital room crying. At that moment her evil self grabbed her by the neck. She stared into her eyes of glowing red and began to strangle her.
"YOUR BROTHER HATES YOU LYNN! HE FUCKING HATES YOU!" She screamed as she strangled Lynn
All Lynn could do was look on in sheer horror as her evil self strangles her.
….
This was not the only nightmare going on in the house at the time, For at the same time Lynn was having this nightmare, Luan was in her room fast asleep and she too was having a very similar nightmare.
She was back at the old house on 1216 Franklyn Ave. It was April Fool's Day, and Luan was just as excited as ever as she went about setting up prank traps through the house. In the kitchen she hoisted the refrigerator in midair with rope and rigged a trap so that whoever walks into the kitchen the refrigerator would fall on them. Luan then went out of sight and hid behind the door way out of sigh and stood there waiting for her victim.
Just at that moment from an opposite doorway Lincoln walks into the kitchen. He steps onto the line that triggers the rigging causing the rope to brake and the fridge to fall on him.
After a blood curding scream followed by a loud crunching sound, Luan looked on in sheer horror.
The next scene Luan was with the entire Loud family in the hospital standing next to Lincoln's bed. Lincoln had his body bandaged up and was hooked up to a heart monitor. The room was in dead silence except for the heart monitor
BEEP
BEEP
BEEP
As Luan stood watching her little brother cling to life her heart was filled with grief and sadness. At that moment his heart monitor flat line and he was dead.
The entire family looked back at Luan with angry stern faces.
"You Heartless Monster! Look What You've Done To Him!" Luna shouted with tears streaming down her face.
"Now You Gone Too Far!" Lori Screamed also with tears streaming down her face.
At that moment her father walked up to her with a very angry enraged look. Luan felt helpless like a small lamp being cornered by a hungry pack of wolves.
"Every April Fool's Day You cause nothing but destruction and chaos. Now your actions have costed the life of your only brother." Lynn Sr. her father said.
At that moment she was pushed to the ground and someone began kicking her. She looked up and saw that it was Lynn Her sister.
"Lynn?" Luan asked
"It Should Have Been You Who Died!" Lynn shouted at her with tears.
Her father Lynn Sr. walked up to Luan and began shouting at her. "Your Not Funny, You Never Were Funny! You Were Just A Stuck Up Psychopath That No One Loves. YOUR DEAD TO US!" Lynn Sr. shouted to the top of his lungs. All Luan can do was watch in fear and horror as her family circles around her.
Everything blacked out and then she finds herself in a cemetery standing in front of a tombstone. The tomb stone read. (LINCOLN LOUD. Beloved Son, Loving Brother.)
Luan fell to her knees and began crying. "I'm Sorry Lincoln! I'm Sorry Lincoln!" she said sobbing over and over again.
When she opened her eyes she found herself in a court house. She was sitting in the defense seat as the prosecution was providing testimony against her.
"Luan Loud purposely dropped a refrigerator on her brother's head killing him." The prosecution said as they shown pictures of Lincoln's bloody mangled body. It was both hear wrenching and soul crushing for Luan to watch.
After the prosecution presented their evidence before the jury the Judge then asked for the verdict.
"We The Jury Find Luan Loud Guilty Of Manslaughter."
After saying this the Judge than states. "Luan Loud I sentence you to Life in Prison with No Possibility of Parole." Then he bangs his gavel.
….
At that moment the two sisters on the second floor spring up from bed and they both scream to the tops of their lungs. It was a scream that could be heard from miles away. Lincoln and Luna quickly ran out there rooms to see were the screams came from. At the same time Lori and Leni ran upstairs to see likewise.
Lincoln, Luna, Lori, and Leni were standing in the second floor hall together. Then Lori looked around with a worried look and asked. "Where's Luan and Lynn?" at that moment Luan's door opened. She was crying and tears were pouring down her face. Lori ran over to Luan and asked. "Luan are you alright?"
Luan looked up at her four siblings with a very sad teary expression. Then she looked at Lincoln. As soon as she saw Lincoln more tears streamed down her face and she began to sob one again.
At that moment Lynn came out of her room. She looked around at her five siblings, She saw Luan crying and with a sad expression Lynn walked over to Luan and asked. "Did you have a nightmare?"
Luan nodded her head up and down signifying yes. What Lynn said next took the five by surprise. Especially Lincoln. "Did it involve Lincoln?" Lynn asked
Luan stopped crying. She looked up at Lynn with a very surprised expression and said. "Yes! How did you know?"
"You could say the same thing happened to me." Lynn explained.
Lincoln stood dumfounded. Already by this time it was obvious to the four that Luan had a nightmare that was so scary that it caused her to scream loud enough to wake the whole house up. And maybe even alert some passing motorist if they herd them. But for Lynn to guess what that dream was about was beyond anyone's guess.
"How did you guess?" Luan asked
"Because I've had one to." Lynn said.
Lincoln was a little shaken because of this. For two of his sisters to have nightmares involving him. Nightmares that were so bad it caused them to wake up screaming was enough to send chills down his spine. A little nervous and apprehensive Lincoln walked up to the two and asked. "What um….What were the nightmares about?"
It was three in the morning. The six Loud siblings were all sitting downstairs in the T.V. room as Luan and Lynn explained their nightmares involving Lincoln. Lincoln was a little frightened by the detail Luan and Lynn put into their dreams. Lincoln walked over to the two. Even though he did not know what to say he wanted to know that it was only a dream and nothing more.
"Look Guys…I know that some dreams can be terrifying…And I had a number of nightmares myself were I woke up screaming and you girls came running into my room and…" before Lincoln could finish Luan grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a hug. Lincoln didn't resist as he hugged her back. Soon after Lynn to hugged Lincoln from behind. The two girls began to tear up as they embraced their brother.
At that moment Lynn began to speak. "You've suffered so much from that "Bad Luck" ordeal. You've lost your room… You were forced to sleep Outside…" Lynn said as she wept in Lincoln's arms. Lincoln managed to wrap an arm around her and said. "Lynn, the whole 'Bad Luck' incident happened years ago. I've already forgave you for it. You shouldn't go on blaming yourself for that."
"NO! I was such a horrible sister for forcing you to go to that game you didn't even want to go to. And when I lost I blamed you, and convinced the family…" Lynn said breaking down in tears as she tightened her hug on Lincoln as she buried her face in his shoulder.
"Look Lynn, I know you did a lot of bad thing to me. But you did a lot of good things to me as well. I mean remember when mom signed me up for football and I didn't want to play, and how you've played in my place. Or what about the time me and Clyde were going for middle school orientation and how you were our orientation guide." Lincoln explained.
Bringing up these memories did bring a smile to Lynn's face. True her relationship with her brother was difficult at times but she still loved him just as much as she loved her other siblings. And Lincoln cared for her just like he did for any other sister.
After Lynn had her word Luan felt that she needed to express her concerns. "Link I know there were times were I went over the edge with my pranks. Some of them could have landed you or any of our other sisters in the hospital or worst. I want you to know that I never meant to hurt you nor anyone for that matter." Luan explained
Lincoln could tell by Luan's apology that she was being honest and sincere. Lincoln also began to wonder if maybe it was the reason she gave up comedy. Either way Lincoln still felt just as sorry or Luan as he did for Lynn.
"Look Luan, I know you've may have gone overboard every April Fools Days, But your still my sister and I still love you." Lincoln said
"Am I a bad sister?" Luan asked
Even Luna seemed concerned for her former roommate. "Far from it. I mean yes there were times when we really got on each other's nerves back when we did share a room, but nothing extreme or over the edge." Luna explained
As they were talking Lori said. "Well it's literally three o'clock in the morning and a school night. In less than three hours we have to get ready for school."
With that she, Leni and Luna were about to head to bed when suddenly the light in the T.V. room when out. Luan simply flipped the switch. On the sofa of the T.V. room Luan, Lynn, and Lincoln fell asleep in each other's arms. Lincoln was in the center of the group hug as Luan slept on her back and Lynn slept on top. Lori, Leni, and Luna looked at them with aw. The three looked so peaceful, so calm sleeping in each other's arms. After a full three to five minutes the three eldest sisters went back up to their rooms.
After a nightmare that awoke the entire house. Nightmares that involved their only brother. Both Luan and Lynn took comfort knowing that their soul brother was safe and sound. The memories of this night would be one of many engraved in the minds of the six Loud siblings. With their parents going through a divorce and other events going on in their lives. The six who now live on 2727 Rock Road had a whole year of trials ahead of them. A year were one will be graduating from high school and another would be graduation form middle school. Everything that was going on in the Loud family was changing fast. One thing was for certain for all eleven siblings, the six living in the house, the two living with their father, and the three living with their mother. Nothing will ever be the same again.
