Teddy was standing in her kitchen talking to Meghan when she noticed her back and stomach feeling tight then letting go. She tried to brush it off. She wasn't due for another week. She leaned against the counter and continued her conversation with Meghan. They chatted for over an hour with Teddy pacing the kitchen.

"Teddy you're leaking," Meghan said.

"I know my water just broke," Teddy admitted.

Meghan asked, "how long have you been having contractions?"

Teddy said, "just after you got here. It's a week early I thought it was cramping or Braxton Hicks."

"What do you need," Meghan asked, going to hug her friend.

Teddy whimpers, "Owen. I need Owen. And I want my mom."

"I'll call Owen," Meghan said.

"He's I'm the OR," Teddy said.

"Do you want me to drive you," Meghan asked.

Teddy cried, "call him. I can't do this alone. I want my mom."

"If she was here what would your mom do," Meghan asked.

Teddy said, "she would rub my back and tell me it was all going to be okay. That my baby girl was coming and she was going to be happy and healthy. That's what she did when Annie was born ."

Meghan stood beside Teddy and put one hand on her back, "where does it hurt?"

Teddy said, "lower back by my hips."

Meghan used one hand to massage where Teddy said it hurt while she called Owen.

"You need to get out of the OR and meet Teddy and I in the ambulance bay," Meghan said.

"What happened," Owen panicked, he heard Teddy moan in the background.

"I was at your house having tea with Teddy and Teddy's water broke," Meghan said, "she's had a few strong contractions, it's time to come in."

"I'll come get her," Owen said, "can you stay with her."

"It'll be faster if I bring her to you," Meghan said, "she wants you and needs you."

"I'll be waiting," Owen said.

Meghan hung up the phone, "he'll meet us. Where's your bag?"

Teddy replied, "at the top of the stairs."

Meghan went to go get it. She heard Teddy moan a couple times. She paused and grabbed a couple towels just in case. she thought that sounded too close together.

Teddy was leaning on the counter panting when Meghan came back.

"I forgot how much this really really hurts," Teddy said.

"Breath," Meghan said, "Teddy you need to breathe. After this one we're going to go to the car. "

Teddy nodded. Meghan helped her to the car pausing a couple of times to let teddy catch her breath.

When they reached the hospital Owen was waiting with Bailey.

"It's okay Teddy I've got you," Owen said as he helped her into a wheelchair.

Teddy wrapped her arms around his neck and held tight. She just needed him to hold her and make her feel safe.

Bailey asked, "Meghan I know you're not starting until next week but I'm down a trauma surgeon can you scrub in now?"

Meghan replied, "I can. Who are my residents?"

Bailey replied, "mini Altman and Jones. You can grab Riggs jr as well."

Meghan replied, "I'm teaching Annie."

"Yes," Teddy moaned, "she needs to go with an attending and work. This needs to be just me and Owen. She can come see her sister when she's here."

Owen added, "has anyone told Annie?"

Bailed replied, "she's in trauma one preping a patient."

Teddy cried, "this baby is coming soon, this really hurts. I need to lie down."

"Stay away from the trauma rooms," Bailey called.

"We're going," Owen said.

He pushed Teddy inside and through the pit. Annie ran out of trauma one.

"Mama are you okay," Annie asked.

Teddy nodded, "we'll call you when your sisters here. Go work."

Annie asked, "what can I do?"

Owen said, "work and give your mama some space. Well let you know when you can come see your sister."

"Meghan needs your help," Teddy said.

Annie asked, "why?"

Owen replied, "she's taking over my service."

Annie gave Teddy a quick hug, "I'll see you soon. Love you."

Teddy nodded fighting not to cry in the middle of the pit.

Bailey called, "mini Altman. Get that patient to CT now."

Annie sprinted off to get her patient and move them to CT. Her patient was an 18 year old girl who had been badly beaten by her boyfriend. The injuries around her abdomen looked severe based on the bruising. Annie suspected damage to the spleen or kidneys or a possible pregnancy.

"We need her pregnancy test results," Annie said.

Bailey asked, "did you order one?"

Annie replied, "waiting for the results from the lab. I want to wait to get them before we do the ct."

When the test results came back negative Annie took the patient to CT and waited for the scans to load. Meghan met them in CT.

"It feels good to be back in scrubs," Meghan said.

"Lt Hunt," Duncan greeted.

"Dr Hunt here," Meghan said, "Annie you okay?"

Annie nodded, "this is going to be a long one. This is the same injury I had at 19."

Duncan asked, "what happened?"

"My adopted sister beat me with a pool cue because she lost playing apples to apples," Annie said.

Meghan asked, "can you do this surgery. Are you going to be focused enough?"

Annie said, "I can do it."

"Jones prep the patient, Annie come scrub with me," Meghan directed.

Annie walked out of CT and towards the elevator. When the doors closed she asked, "was anyone going to tell me about mama being in labour?"

Meghan replied, "she only wanted Owen. She's scared. The last time she did this she had to say goodbye to you. I was going to find and tell you once she was with Owen. Right now you need to work and help me save this patient. You'll see your sister as soon as Teddy and Owen are ready to see people. She asked me to tell you that you would be the first person who got to meet the baby. Before me or my mom. She said she wants her girls together. Right now you're not going to worry about Teddy. She's with Owen and Carina is one of the best they'll look after her. You're with me. My first intern as an attending. I asked for you and Josh for my first set of interns."

Annie gave Meghan a quick hug, "thank you."

Meghan smiled, "back in the OR, a new niece and and my first Annie hug it is a good day."

Annie laughed, "hugs are only for people I trust."

"You trust me now that's good," Meghan said, "you have to trust your attending and your auntie Meghan."

"I do," Annie said, "auntie maybe pushing it at the moment."

Meghan asked, "your surgery at 19 what happened?"

Annie said matter of factly, "Jessica has both borderline personality disorder and bipolar. She's never accepted treatment. She's 21 now so our parents can't force it. When she was out of control she frequently became violent towards me. We were having cousin night which we did every couple weeks. They were fun, we played games, those of us that were legal had a couple drinks. I was 19 which is legal in BC so I had one cider. We ate way too much junk food and hung out. Jessica didn't like that she lost apples to apples to Shannon. It was down to one card and I was judging. I thought Shannon's card was funnier so I gave her the point. Jessie lost it and beat me. It was a miracle the surgeon saved my spleen and both kidneys. I lost half my liver and was given 10 units of blood, three of packed cells and at mama's insistence several iron infusions. I spent 6 hours on the table, 10 days in hospital and a whole summer recovering at mamas."

Meghan asked, "why were you with Teddy at that point?"

Annie said, "I was terrified and the only person I could think of who I felt safe with was her. The only thing I could do was ask the ER staff to call her. And she came with Uncle Owen. They came and they took care of me and sat with me. They weren't even together; he was married to Christina and they still both came. "

"No one has told me much about Christina," Meghan said, "what was she like?"

"Have you googled Christina Yang at all," Annie asked.

"I haven't. No one told me her last name," Meghan said, "I've heard of her. Heard Teddy trained her and she's a groundbreaking surgeon but nothing personal."

Annie replied, "she was interesting. Intense and driven. She could only really talk about medicine, drinking or boys unless you're dr Grey.. She called me thing one and my brother thing two. Interns were dwarves, literally the 7 dwarves. Some days she liked you and was warmer and would teach other days she left her mentor's 19 year old daughter to do her scut."

"She had you do scut at 19," Meghan asked.

"Yes," Annie said, "after abandoning me in the locker room to gossip with her best friends Meredith Grey and Alex Karev about me and mama . Thank god for April Kepner, I had no clue what I was doing or where I was supposed to go. It was my very first visit to the hospital and the first time I scrubbed in. Teddy did a valve replacement then that same trip Uncle Owen had me hold a retractor while he pulled magnetic marbles out of a kid. Him and Kepner needed a couple more hands and there were no other residents or interns. It was so cool!"

They finished scrubbing and walked into the OR.

Meghan commanded, "Altman will open and Jones will close. The rest you do as I say."

Annie turned to the scrub nurse, "10 blade please."

Annie opened trying to keep the incision as small as possible, "Let's try to minimize her scar."

Meghan said, "don't worry about that now get us access."

Annie did as she was told.

Once they were in and Meghan had dealt with the worst of the injuries she asked the interns to help her to sew all the bleeders.

Annie's phone buzzed.

"It's dr Altman's," said the nurse.

"Who is it," Annie asked.

"Chris McKellar," the nurse called, "do you want me to answer it?"

Annie looked to Meghan who nodded.

"Put him on speaker," Annie said.

"Ann," Chris said, "why is a nurse answering your phone?"

"In surgery," Annie replied, "C can I call you later?"

Chris said, "how long?"

"A few hours it depends on how this goes. It's a major trauma," Annie said, "then I have a few people to check on when I'm done."

"I need two minutes," Chris said.

Meghan nodded.

"What," Annie asked, "are mom and dad alright? Jessica isn't in prison is she?"

"Nothing like that," Chris said, "I have two weeks leave I didn't expect before I go overseas. Can I come spend a week with you?"

"When," Annie asked.

"Today," Chris replied, "I'll leave now. I just need your address."

"I'm at the same place I lived with mama," Annie said, "come now. I'll see you when you get here. Don't know when I'm off though. Josh is off today and tomorrow."

"How do you not know when you're off," Chris asked.

"I got paired with a new attending half way through today's shift," Annie explained, "I'll check the schedule with her after. How long are you away for this time?"

"10 months I should be back for Christmas," Chris said, "I need to see you, mom and dad and the grandparents before I go. Do you have a couple days to come up to cloverdale?"

Annie replied, " you know my stance on cloverdale. Are you driving or flying?"

"Driving," Chris said, "leaving in about an hour."

"I'll text you the address and Josh's number when I'm done," Annie said, "see you soon."

"See you," Chris said.

Duncan asked, "where is he being deployed?"

Annie shrugged, "never tells me until he gets there. I don't think he always knows or is allowed to tell me. This is a long one for him though."

"That's short," Meghan said, "it was the Canadians that seemed to be there less time."

"Chris is Canadian he's with the Air Force he's a helicopter pilot," Annie said, "remember I have dual citizenship. I grew up in Canada. I didn't live in the states until I was 21."

Duncan asked, "how do you have dual?"

Annie replied, "the family that adopted me is Canadian. But they were able to use my birth certificate from Texas to keep my American as well."

In the delivery room Teddy was exhausted. Owen was doing everything he could to encourage her.

"We're ready to push," Carina said.

"Now," Teddy asked, "I thought I'd have more time."

"Sometimes at your age and with a second baby things move a lot faster," Carina said.

"It hurts," Teddy screamed, "I can't do this."

Owen brushed her hair back from her face, "you've got this Teddy. Our daughter will be here soon."

"Give it one push Teddy," Carina said.

Teddy pushed, making a sound that tore at Owens heart, he hated seeing her in this much pain and wished he could make it stop.

"I can see the head," Carina said.

Owen went to look.

Teddy clutched his arm, "you do not get to see the battlefield between my legs. You stay right here with me."

"I'm right here," Owen said, kissing her forehead.

"I have to push," Teddy moaned.

"Give it one then rest," Carina said.

"She's coming now I have to keep pushing," Teddy moaned.

"Hold on Teddy," Carina said, "give it 30 seconds."

"I can't," Teddy said, "I have to push."

"Wait," Carina said, " you push and you tear."

"Tell me something to distract me," Teddy said.

Owen smiled at her, " Teddy you are the love of my life. I didn't know that or trust that before this year. But now I know that you are the other half of me. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. You make me happy. The happiest I've ever been. I love how strong you are and how you fight for the people you love. Teddy I can't wait to marry you and spend our lives together."

"Okay one big push," Carina said.

Teddy gave it everything she had and they heard a soft cry fill the room.

Teddy flopped back against the pillows as Carina handed their daughter to Owen.

He cut the cord then laid their baby in her arms.

"Hi there," Teddy said, "hi pretty girl."

"Does she have a name," Carina asked.

"Allison" Teddy and Owen said together.

A nurse came in and helped Teddy to clean up a bit and to feed the baby for the first time.

Owen took a seat beside Teddy in the bed. He had one arm around her and the other hand holding Allison's hand. Owen kissed the top of Teddy's head.

"I love you," Owen whispered.

"I love you," Teddy replied. She let herself lean on him.

"Thank you Teddy," Owen said.

"For what," Teddy asked.

"For this. For our baby and our family," Owen said.

Teddy whispered, "thank you for showing up at my apartment that night and for giving me a second chance. I can't wait to marry you. "

"She's perfect," Owen said. He brushed his finger across the baby's cheek.

"You haven't held her yet," Teddy said.

"I did," Owen said, "just for a moment so I could give her to you."

"Once she's finished you can dress her," Teddy said, "I don't know how to tell if she's full."

"Do you want me to ask a nurse to come back," Owen asked.

"No we can figure it out," Teddy said, "she should just stop eating. She's so tiny she shouldn't need much."

"How are you feeling," Owen asked.

"Tired, like I just ran a marathon," Teddy said, "I can't believe she's here and we get to keep her."

"She's staying with us," Owen assured Teddy.

"I can't believe how beautiful she is," Teddy said, "I've only seen one other baby this beautiful."

"Her big sister," Owen asked.

"My girls," Teddy said.

Arizona knocked, "Teddy. Owen can I come do her check up?"

"Of course," Teddy said, "I think she's just about full."

"She's hungry already," Arizona asked.

"She seems to be," Teddy said, "I've never done this before."

"You're doing fine," Arizona assured.

"She let go," Teddy said.

"Can I check her over," asked Arizona.

"Please," Owen said, "can she stay with us?"

"I'll do it right here," Arizona said, "I need to get a scale brought in."

"She's bigger than Annie was," Teddy said.

"I'm just going to get a scale and I'll be right back," Arizona said.

Arizona went and got the scale.

"Teddy can I hold her," Arizona asked.

Teddy reluctantly said, "yes."

Owen knew why she was hesitant to let anyone touch Allison . She was afraid that someone would take her baby and she wouldn't see her for years. Teddy had been worried about that her whole pregnancy but she would only tell Owen about her fear that someone would take Allison from her, that she would have to say goodbye then spend nearly 20 years praying for her daughter never knowing if she was truly okay hoping for the day a letter would come not knowing if she would ever hear from her baby. It was only in the last few weeks that Owen had realized how much giving up Annie had cost Teddy emotionally.

"Teddy," Owen whispered, "no one will take Allison out of your sight. She's not going anywhere."

"Stay right beside her," Teddy said, "don't let anyone take her out of the room."

"I will," Owen said, "she won't go anywhere without one of us."

Teddy commanded , "stay with her."

"Teddy she's right here," Arizona said, "I won't take her out of this room. She's a beautiful healthy baby. 7 pounds 8 ounces. "

"I knew she felt bigger. I thought that was time," Teddy said, "she's a pound and 7 ounces bigger than her sister was."

"She's beautiful," Arizona said, "perfectly healthy. 7 pounds 8 ounces, 51 cm long. Do you want me to give her a bath?"

"I will," Owen said, "can they bring the stuff in?"

"I'll call for it and help you," Arizona said.

Teddy asked, "can I have her back?"

"She's right here Teds you can have her when she's clean and dressed," Owen said, he could hear the panic in Teddy's voice. He wasn't quite sure how to reassure Teddy that no one would take the baby. He hadn't expected her to have this strong of a reaction. He helped position the bassinet and the stand for the bath supplies where Teddy could easily see it making sure not to block her view.

Arizona stood beside Owen and continued to tell Teddy what she was doing as she gave Allison her first bath and dressed her in pink footed pajamas covered with white hearts before wrapping her up in a blanket and putting a little pink hat on her head.

Owen picked Allison up, "I've got her Teds. She's with me."

Teddy asked, "can you bring her here?"

Owen sat on the edge of the bed. Immediately Teddy relaxed as she reached out her hand to touch Allison. Teddy sat up and Owen put his arm around her.

"Hey," Owen whispered, "we're not going anywhere. She's staying right here with us. Teddy it's okay no one will take her. They have to go through me first."

Teddy curled into Owens' side and he held her tightly. Teddy began to cry.

Owen whispered, "no tears. We're okay, we're all safe. Allison is here and she's healthy. Look at her, she's right here in my arms. No one is going to take her anywhere without one of us."

"We have to protect her. We have to keep her safe," Teddy said.

"We will," Owen said, "look she's safe and happy with me. Do you want to hold her?"

Teddy nodded and held out her arms.

"Here she is," Owen said.

Teddy relaxed as Owen put Allison back in her arms. He wrapped his arms around Teddy and held her tightly, "your okay, Allison is okay, Annie is in OR5 working with Meghan. Our girls are both safe. I'm not going anywhere. I love you Teddy, you're the love of my life. We're going to have an amazing life with our family. You and me that's all I've ever wanted. I had no idea I could be this happy. Thank you for our family. I love you so much."

Teddy's eyes filled with tears again, "I love you and I love our family. I don't know what happened as soon as Arizona took her I panicked."

"I know," Owen said, "and I think I know why. It's okay. Both girls are in this hospital safe and healthy. Do you want me to have Annie come up?"

"I want a little more time just the three of us," Teddy said.

"I can do that my love," Owen said, kissing Teddy on the check. She turned her head to return the kiss. Owen gave her a gentle kiss on the lips.

After a couple hours of being just the three of them Teddy asked, "can you text Annie. Allison needs to meet her sister."

Annie was scrubbing out when her phone buzzed. Her face lit up.

"Dr Hunt do you need me in post op," Annie asked.

"Is the baby here," Meghan asked.

"She is," Annie replied. She showed Meghan the picture Owen had sent.

"Go meet your sister," Meghan said, "this is the one time you can abandon me in post op."

Annie ran from the scrub room, "thank you Meghan."

Annie dashed into the locker room where she knew josh had dropped off the birthday present for her little sister. Grabbing the gift bag from her locker Annie ran upstairs.

The door was open but Annie knocked softly not wanting to disturb them.

Teddy beamed at the door, "come meet your sister sweetheart."

Annie walked over to the bed where Teddy was cuddling Allison , "mama she's gorgeous. What's her name?"

"Allison Eloise Altman-Hunt," Teddy said.

"Why Allison ," Annie asked, "I know where her middle name comes from."

"I've told you about my friend Allison ," Teddy said.

"You have a few times," Annie said.

Teddy offered, "do you want to hold her?"

"Can I," Annie asked, "she's so tiny."

"Pound and a 7 ounces bigger than you were," Teddy said.

"I have a birthday gift for her," Annie said.

"Annie," Teddy said, "what did you do?"

"Open it mama," Annie said, taking a seat on the edge of the bed beside Teddy.

"Do you want to hold your sister," Teddy offered again.

"I do," Annie said. Annie gently lifted Allison from

Teddy's arms.

"Hi little bean I'm your big sister. My name is Annie," Annie said, "you're the most perfect baby I've ever seen."

Teddy opened the birthday gift Annie had brought. She smiled at the tiny stuffed bear and the "I'm new here onesie" and started to flip though the pages of the alphabet book Annie had made for their family. It included pictures of all the important people , places and objects and Annie had written a couple lines about each.

"Annie when did you have time to do this," Teddy asked.

"I started working on it as soon as you told me about the baby," Annie said, "I wanted it ready for your shower but it wasn't back from the printer in time."

"Sweetheart it's perfect," Teddy said.

"I still need to glue in one picture," Annie said, "I needed her here to finish the F for family."

"We'll take a picture soon," Teddy said, "the four of us."

"I meant the three of you," Annie said.

"This is our family," Owen said, "all four of us. Teddy , me, and both of our girls. "

"Owen can you take a picture of our girls," Teddy asked.

"I'm still in scrubs," Annie said.

"So am I," Owen replied.

"Better then my hospital gown," Teddy said, "I need a shower."

"You need to rest," Owen said.

"Get a picture of the girls," Teddy said.

Owen took a picture of Annie and Allison .

"Uncle Owen can you send that to me," Annie asked.

"Of course," Owen replied.

"Is Meghan still here," Teddy asked.

"I think so," Annie said, "we had just scrubbed out when Owen texted."

"Long surgery," Teddy said.

"Massive Trauma. Same injuries I had at 19," Annie said, "she's a good teacher I got to open and helped with the spleen repair and fixing bleeders. I got the text and ditched Meghan and Duncan in the scrub room."

"You left your patient," Owen asked.

"My attending said I could come meet my baby sister," Annie said, "and to send her pictures."

Alison started to cry.

"I'm sorry to scare you Ali bean," Annie said.

"I think she might be hungry," Teddy said.

"Go back to mama Ali bean," Annie said, "I'll come back for more cuddles later."

Annie kissed the baby's cheek and gave her back to Teddy.

"Bye mama", Annie said, "I'll come back when I'm off."

Teddy said, "give me a hug and go back to work."

"Congratulations," Annie said, giving Teddy a hug.

"See you in a bit Annie," Owen said.

"Later uncle Owen," Annie said, giving him a quick hug.
