Teddy was having a hard time focusing on her paperwork. She had been banned from the gallery while Annie was doing her first solo surgery. Annie had asked that Teddy and Owen not watch her first solo surgery and let her be a normal resident and come tell them after.

Owen appeared at Teddy's door, "is it taking everything you have to stay away from Annie's gallery?"

Teddy groaned, "it's her first solo and she banned us."

"We agreed to let her be a normal resident," Owen said, "I didn't think she'd go that far."

"Webber wants her standing up to us," Teddy said, "she did. It's not easy for Annie to say no to me. I'm proud of her."

"She'll come bouncing in here after," Owen said, "it's Annie she won't wait to tell you."

Teddy groaned, "she said me being in her gallery stresses her out. And she won't talk about considering a speciality yet."

"She has to do that without you," Owen said, "I know you'd love to see her do cardio but she's really good in peds. Her work last week on a peds trauma patient was amazing. She was calm and she kept the girl calm. She made the little girl feel safe."

"She's mentioned peds before," Teddy said, "but I don't know if it will be fulfilling long term."

"She can always add a subspecialty like Arizona did," Owen suggested.

"She tells me she wants to do cardio," Teddy said, "but is that just appeasing me? She's good at telling people what they want or doing what others want instead of her own choices."

"She's enjoying trying different things," Owen said.

"I don't like not watching," Teddy complained.

"No other parents watch the first solo surgery," Owen said, "they didn't let Nathan and Meghan watch Josh's."

"But Meghan gets to watch Annie's," Teddy said.

"No family means no family," Owen said, "she asked Meghan and Nathan not to be there. Only Josh."

"I don't even know if Josh is there. He's on Karev's service right now," Teddy said, "Alex has two surgeries today."

Annie was scrubbing in with Richard for her first solo surgery. She was doing a hernia repair with Webber. Annie was nervous but Teddy had tried to reassure her that Webber wouldn't let her fail.

"Ready when you are dr Altman," Richard said.

Annie nodded, "10 blade please."

She sliced into her patient and began the surgery.

"Dr Webber," Annie said, "this doesn't look right. His bowels are black. I think they're necrotic."

Richard looked, "they are. Good catch Grace. What do you need to do?"

"Rescet them and remove the dead portion," Annie said, "hopefully there's enough viable tissue."

"Run the bowel and see," Richard said.

Annie ran the bowel and found that she only needed to remove a few inches of the bowel. She removed the tissue and completed her repair.

"I'll get him up to post op," Annie said.

"You did well with that complication," Richard said.

"As long as he stays stable," Annie said, "both were routine procedures but I didn't expect to do the bowel resection."

"It was good work," Richard said.

"Thank you sir," Annie replied.

Annie followed her patient to post op and gave the orders for pain management and antibiotics. She wanted to follow up in a few hours to make sure his bowels were functioning.

Annie left her patient and talked to the family, she explained the complication and what was done to treat it. They were pleased that he would make a full recovery.

Leaving the OR floor Annie headed up to the cardio wing and knocked on Teddy's office door.

"How did it go," Teddy asked.

"A couple complications but I did it," Annie said.

"What happened," Teddy asked.

"We opened him up and the bowel that was near the hernia was necrotic so I had to run the bowel and resect it," Annie said.

"Did you do it," Teddy asked.

"I did it all," Annie replied, "Webber gave me a few hints but I did it. The bowel was in bad shape. I hope we got enough of it."

"Webber checked," Teddy said, "your patient will be fine."

"He's in post op they're going to page me when he's alert," Annie said.

"Good," Teddy said, "how do you feel about it?"

"I think it went well," Annie said, "we'll see how the patient does."

Annie's pager went off and she ran to check her patient. He was alert and talking. Annie explained the surgery to him then gave the orders for him to be moved back to his room.

Annie found Josh in the lounge.

"How's your patient," Josh asked.

"Alert and stable," Annie said.

"Good," Josh said, "what else do you have today?"

"I'm on general so whatever comes up," Annie said, "what do you have?"

"Trauma this week," Josh said, "seeing what comes up."

"Which attending," Annie asked.

"Kepner," Josh replied.

Annie's pager went off for the pit and she ran downstairs.

She was sent to prepare a young boy for the

Annie had just scrubbed out of an emergency appendectomy with Bailey. She texted Josh to see where he was.

Annie, "where are you?"

Josh, "Joe's with Duncan, Max, Jeremy, Cassidy, Julia and Jenna."

Annie, "how much longer?"

Josh, "we just got here. Come when you're done?"

Annie, "I'm with Bailey. We'll see what she says. I'll let you know."

Josh, "talk to you later."

Annie, "see you in a bit."

Annie checked her patients again before heading out for the night. She walked across the street to see her friends. Walking into the bar she spotted her group in the far corner and made her way over.

As she approached she saw something that made her turn the opposite way and run out of the bar.

Annie ran through the hospital parking lot and drove to Teddy's. She knew it was late and she hadn't called but she pounded on the door anyway.

Owen opened the door, "Annie what's wrong?"

Annie began to sob, "I went to joes and there was some sub I all over Josh. She looked like she was kissing him."

"Come have a seat," Owen said.

Annie nodded and dropped her coat on the floor.

"Teddy we have a big problem," Owen bellowed.

"You're going to wake Allison," Teddy called.

"You need to get down here," Owen called, "Annie's here."

Teddy ran down the stairs and saw Annie sobbing on the couch.

"Sweetheart what happened," Teddy asked.

"I went to joes after work and there was a sub I all over Josh," Annie said.

"What do you mean," Teddy asked.

"I was the last off tonight and walked over to meet everyone at Joes before going home," Annie said, "when I got there there was this sub I whoes name I don't know all over Josh. It looked like they were kissing."

"I'm going to kill him," Owen growled.

Teddy asked, "what do you want to do?"

Annie cried, "I can't go home. I need him out of the house. If he's kissing other girls, it's over."

Teddy asked, "have you talked to him?"

Annie shook her head, "I just left. I couldn't even look at him and all my friends were standing there."

Owen asked, "do you want to stay here tonight it's late. Then we can figure it out in the morning."

Annie nodded, "can I?"

Teddy replied, "you can stay as long as you need."

Annie asked, "how do I face people at work on Sunday?"

"You go in and do your job the best you can," Teddy said.

"You keep your chin up and work," Owen said, "he's the one in the wrong here. I'm going to kill that boy."

"Owen," Teddy said, "we don't need to murder anyone. We need to get him out of my house so Annie can feel safe at home."

Back at Joes a fight had broken out.

"He has a girlfriend," Julia yelled at the girl.

"Where is she," the girl asked, "who is she? I don't see her."

"Grace Altman she's a surgical resident," Jenna said, "she was in surgery then coming over."

The girls eyes went wide, "Altman like the cardio goddess?"

"Her daughter," Julia yelled, "cardio Altman is Graces mother. And their close"

"Grace saw," Cassidy said, "and walked out."

"Fuck," Josh yelled, "she'll never talk to me again. 5 years you've just destroyed. I've loved Grace for 5 years and you ruined it."

"You have to find her," Duncan said, "she can't have gone far."

Josh ran out of the bar towards the hospital he saw that Annie's car was already gone from the parking lot.

He called her but Annie wasn't answering he thought she must be driving home. He found his Jeep and drove to the house but her car wasn't there and all the lights were off. Josh called Annie again, it rang until it went to voice mail.

Josh called Duncan, "she's not home and not answering."

"Where would she go," Duncan asked.

"It's late but most likely Teddy and Owens," Josh said.

"Call her or call mama Altman," Duncan said, "you have to talk to her."

Inside the bar Cassidy continued to yell at the girl, "who do you think you are trying to kiss random residents in a bar? You know nothing about him."

"He's hot. He smiles at me at the hospital," the girl said, "and you never see him with a girl."

Julia yelled, "you know that's Josh Riggs his uncle is another cardio attending. So when this comes out you'll have pissed off two of the three cardio attendings and two of the three trauma attendings and ruined their family. You have no clue how related cardio and trauma are."

"What do you mean," asked the girl, "I tried to kiss a hot guy and he pushed me off him. Totally rude if you ask me."

"Cardio Altman is married to Owen Hunt the chief of trauma, Meghan Hunt is Owens sister and engaged to Nathan Riggs. You just got in between Grace Altman and Josh Riggs," Julia explodes, "they've been together since medical school. Total power couple and you ruined that."

"Nothing happened," the girl protested.

"That's not what Grace saw," Julia shouted.

"He pushed me away," the girl said.

"But that's not what his girlfriend saw," Jenna said, "they've been together for years. Your careless actions destroyed one of the best healthiest relationships I've ever seen."

"I didn't mean it," the girl said, "he was just a hot guy in a bar."

"Next time don't try to kiss someone you don't know," Julia yelled, "what even made you think he was into you?"

"He smiled and said hello," the girl said, "he answered my questions about the resident program."

"He does that to everyone he's polite," Julia shouted, "that's not flirting."

"Where would she go," Cassidy asked.

"Home," Jenna guesses, "or to mama Altman."

"Josh texted she's not home," Duncan said.

"Mama Altman," Jenna said, "when you go through a breakup you want your mom. Grace is really close to her mama."

"This won't break them up will it," Julia asked.

"Would you be okay with seeing another girl kiss your boyfriend," Cassidy asked.

"No," Jenna said, "I wouldn't. I'd kick her ass and dump his."

"Someone should make sure she's okay," Julia said.

"She talks to Jenna most," Cassidy said.

"I'll try to call her," Jenna said, "she should know and talk to him."

Jenna stepped outside and tried to call Annie there was no response. Her phone went straight to voicemail. Jenna tried Teddy.

"Dr Silverstone is there a problem," Teddy said, "dr Pierce is the cardio attending on call tonight."

"We're looking for Grace," Jenna said, "something happened at Joes and she ran off."

"She's here," Teddy said.

"Is she okay," asked Jenna.

"She'll talk to you when she's ready," Teddy said, "she's here and she's safe. Good night dr Silverstone."

Jenna walked back inside, "she's with her mama. Mama Altman won't talk to me, she sounds really pissed."

Cassidy replied, "should we go over there."

"Face mama Altman and bossy Hunt now no way," Julia said, "grace went to her parents house she'll be fine tonight. Try her in the morning."

The friends all went their separate ways.

At home Josh sat on the couch and waited Annie wasn't answering no matter how many times he called. He needed to talk to her to apologize and tell her what had happened. Annie was the other half of his heart; he couldn't breathe without her and he would do anything to fix this and make her trust him again.

Finally Josh called Teddy, "Teddy it's Josh do you know where Annie is?"

"She's here," Teddy said, "I don't know what happened tonight but she's devastated. I want your stuff and Duncan's out of my house by the end of the week."

"Teddy you don't understand," Josh said, "that sub I attacked me. I told her I wasn't interested and she tried to kiss me. I pushed her off. I love Annie. I've only ever loved Annie. Can I talk to her?"

"Right now I don't care," Teddy said, "I'm not the one who needs to believe you. Annie is here and she's physically safe. Stop calling her. She will speak to you if and when she wants to. For now start packing."

"Where will I go," Josh asked.

"Not my problem," Teddy hissed, "stop calling. Good night."

Teddy hung up her phone.

"Mama who was that," Annie asked.

Teddy shook her head, "Josh looking for you."

"I can't talk to him," Annie cried, "I can't talk to anyone. Why would he do that? What's wrong with me that he would kiss someone else?"

Teddy pulled Annie into her arms, "it's not you sweetheart. He made a really stupid decision. There's nothing you did wrong."

Annie sobbed, "am I not pretty enough? Am I too fat?"

"You are beautiful," Teddy said, "he is an absolute idiot."

"Why wasn't I good enough," Annie asked.

"You are sweetheart," Teddy said.

Owen sat on the couch beside them, "when your ready I think you should talk to Josh. Find out what happened."

"I know what happened," Annie said, "he kissed another girl a sub I at joes."

"The sub Is have only been here a week," Teddy said, "it's Josh he wouldn't throw what you two have away for a girl he met this week."

"When she's tall, and actually has more than a B cup," Annie said, "definitely hotter. I don't stand a chance. I have no curves."

"Has that ever mattered to Josh before," Teddy asked.

"Not that he's ever said," Annie replied.

"When your at home how are things between the two of you," Teddy asked.

"He was normal Josh this morning," Annie said, "he was really sweet last night. Was that a trick?"

"I don't think so," Owen said, "Jones texted me. He said Josh is in a panic looking for you. I told Duncan you're here and to leave it for the night."

"I don't want to talk to anyone," Annie said, "I just want to curl up and cry. Five years of my life wasted on him for nothing."

Teddy said, "why don't you go shower and take your contacts out and go to bed."

Annie nodded and stood up.

Owen hugged Annie, "it'll be okay. We'll be right with you."

"Thanks uncle Owen," Annie replied, "good night."

"Good night little bear," Owen said.

Teddy sat on the couch hiding her face in her hands.

"Teddy it'll be fine," Owen said, "we've been through breakups and cheating. She's going to hurt for a while but she's okay."

"I told her to stay away from him that after what Riggs did to Meghan I didn't trust Josh that Annie should stay away from him," Teddy groaned, "but I got no mama he's not like that just meet him and get to know him you'll like him. Annie was right, I liked him. He earned my trust now he goes and cheats on her."

"Jones' text had more information," Owen said, "the sub I came on to Josh. Josh told her he had a girlfriend."

"Someone needs to tell Annie," Teddy said, "she's devastated

."

"I know she is," Owen said, "I haven't seen her like this in years."

"The stabbing," Teddy said, "it's going to be a long night."

"You stay with Annie," Owen said, "she only really wants her mama. I can handle 80% of Allison."

"Annie will not talk if Allison is in the room," Teddy said.

"She's only going to talk to you,"Owen said.

"She will," Teddy nodded, "I'm going to go take her some pajamas. I doubt she has any in her bag."

Teddy went up stairs and took a pair of pajamas out of her dresser. She knocked on the bathroom door and let Annie know they were outside the door.

A few minutes later Annie appeared in Teddy's bedroom door, "mama can you come sit with me ? I don't want to be alone. "

Teddy replied, "I can."

Annie sat on the edge of the guest room bed and asked, "why would he do that? If he wasn't happy why wouldn't he tell me?"

Teddy nodded, "Duncan Jones texted Owen when he got home and no one couldn't find you. Josh is in a panic. I think you need to talk to josh in the morning."

"I don't want to," Annie cried, "he cheated or was going to. And my friends stood by."

"Jenna called and Cassidy has texted me," Teddy said, "I think you need to listen in the morning."

"But my friends stood by and let him do that," Annie cried.

"I think you need to talk with Josh and hear him out," Teddy said.

"I don't want to," Annie said.

"This will be hard and it will hurt but you have to talk to him," Teddy said, "at least get the closure."

"I love him," Annie said, "I have since I met him. I don't know what to do without him."

Teddy nodded, "you have to decide if you're going to stand up and fight for your relationship or if you're going to be happy if you walk away."

"I want to fight," Annie said, "but I don't know how. No one ever taught me how."

"Be honest with him," Teddy said, "face to face tell him how you feel about him and how what you saw made you feel."

"I'm scared," Annie said, "it's another person who doesn't want me."

"Annie breath," Teddy said, "you're panicking and scared. Do you have all the facts? Have you talked to him?"

"I don't want to," Annie said, "I can't trust him."

Teddy said, "you need to. At least find out what happened. You can decide if you believe him or not but you need to talk to him and know what happened."

"I'm scared," Annie said, "what if he doesn't love me anymore?"

"Talk to him," Teddy said, "you need to tell him not me. I know it's hard and it's going to take everything you have to talk to him but you can do it. No matter what happens I'm on your side I'll always be right here. I promise."

"I love him so much this hurts," Annie cried.

"I know,"Teddy soothed, "but we're not going to solve anything tonight. Do you want me to stay until you fall asleep?"

Annie shook her head, "I need to sit here and think."

"If you need me I'm just down the hall," Teddy said.

"Good night mama," Annie said.

"Good night sweetheart try to get some sleep " Teddy said giving Annie a hug before leaving and closing the door behind her.

Teddy slipped into her bedroom and got into bed beside Owen.

"How's she doing," Owen asked.

"She's a mess," Teddy said, "the last time I saw her like this she was 21 and had just been stabbed."

Owen nodded, "she'll get through this. Meg texted me. Josh called Nathan having a panic attack. I told Meghan that Annie is here and physically safe."

"They have a mess to deal with," Teddy said, "it'll take a lot for her to trust him again."

"She doesn't trust people," Owen said, "who is she fully open with other than you?"

"You and Josh," Teddy said, "Jenna and Cassidy sometimes. We're working on it."

"What can we do," Owen asked.

"Listen to her," Teddy said, "and let her cry."

Allison began to cry in the nursery.

Teddy groaned, "that's a hungry cry. She's growing again. I'll go."

Teddy brought Allison into their bedroom, "I'll feed her then you put her back to bed. I'm tired."

"This was so much easier when she slept in here," Owen said.

Teddy shook her head, "she's ten months its time she's in her room. Most nights I like having our room to ourselves. We need to start thinking about her birthday."

"She won't remember this one," Owen said.

"I missed the milestone ones with Annie, I got 21 and 25," Teddy said, "I want this one to be perfect for Allison."

Owen shook his head, "we can worry about it later. We should try to sleep."

"When Allison is done," Teddy said, "she's hungry today. She hasn't done this in a while."

A while later Owen carried Allison back to her room and tucked her in. When he returned to bed Teddy was almost asleep. He wrapped one arm around her waist and held her close.

"I love you," Owen whispered into Teddy's hair.

"Love you more," she mumbled before falling asleep.
