Annie and Josh had been home for a week and were starting to get bored.
Annie, who had more energy asked, "do we want to start looking at wedding ideas?"
"How you're still not up to going out," Josh asked.
"iPad and Pinterest," Annie laughed.
"Haven't you been laying around with the cat tea and your iPad all week," Josh teased.
"I started saving things I like but I want to know what you like," Annie said, "it's our day. I already made one decision without you."
"Which decision was that," Josh asked.
"Having uncle Owen walk me down the aisle," Annie replied.
"That was always your choice and only your choice. I knew you would ask him and if not Owen, Teddy would walk you," Josh smiled.
Annie begged, "come look with me please."
Josh nodded, " on the couch get you out of our room."
"I'm hiding from Duncan," Annie replied.
"Hiding from Duncan why," Josh asked.
"He lays on the couch and moans playing video games," Annie explained, "we're all sick we all feel like crap but taking up the living room pouting isn't helping anyone. And it means I can't lay on the couch in pajamas."
"You mean pajama pants and my T-shirt's," Josh teased.
"Their comfy," Annie said, "and smell like you."
"I steal your pillow when you're not home," Josh admitted, "it smells like your hair."
"Apple shampoo," Annie teased.
"Your perfume," Josh said.
"Orange body spray. Perfume is for special occasions," Annie said, "the orange body spray is what I use every day."
"But that's you, apple shampoo, orange body spray and the candles in our room," Josh smiled.
"Vanilla candles," Annie said, "your body wash, a little bit of coffee and whatever your deodorant is."
"Laundry soap," they both said at the same time.
Annie giggled, "it's the same laundry soap. I need to shower and deal with my hair."
"Go shower and I'll take over the couch for us while Duncan sleeps," Josh said.
"Take my pillow," Annie said.
"Pillow, blanket, ipad," Josh listed.
"You," Annie smiled.
"Go and leave your curls. I like the curls," Josh reminded her.
"Curls are staying today," Annie said, "letting it air dry"
Annie and Josh were curled up together on the couch looking at wedding ideas when Teddy knocked on the door.
Annie opened the door, "mama I didn't know you were coming."
"I was going to take Allison for a walk on the beach and wanted to see how you're doing," Teddy explained.
"Can I hold Allison," Annie asked.
"You can but she just wants to run today," Teddy replied.
"I'll try," Annie said. She took her little sister from Teddy.
"Nee," squealed Allison.
"Hi baby bean," Annie smiled, "are you coming in?"
"We can," Teddy smiled.
"It's a bit of a mess," Annie admitted.
Josh joined them, "sorry about the mess Teddy."
"It's okay," Teddy replied, "you've been sick."
Annie replied, "I'm starting to get bored laying around all day."
"Another week and you can do a second spot test," Teddy said, "if it looks good and your energy is up you can come back to work. Bailey wants everyone involved tested before they see patients."
"It's not like we kiss our patients " Annie said rolling her eyes.
"Enlarged spleen," Teddy said, "yours has already had major repairs once you were lucky to keep it. When you have enough energy you can come back to work."
"Surgeries and hours I'll fall behind," Annie worried.
"You're so over time that even if you took a month it would average out," Teddy reassured.
"We figured out how it spread," Josh added.
"How," Teddy asked.
"Jenna had symptoms first and she just found out her boyfriend was cheating on her because she never has free time. But three or four nights after we got engaged Jenna, Julia, Cassidy and I all sat in a supply closet with a tub of ice cream and plastic spoons. Obviously I gave it to Josh," Annie explained.
"That explains the four women and Josh," Teddy said, "but what about Duncan and Jeremy?"
Annie said, "Cassidy and Duncan have a friends with benefits thing and so do Julia and Jeremy."
"Can I tell Bailey how you think it spread," Teddy replied, "because it's restricted to your group."
"At least it's a contained outbreak," Annie said.
"It's being investigated," Teddy explained, "the board and the residency commission both want to know. Bailey had to report it because 4 of the 7 collapsed at the hospital."
"Tell Bailey," Josh said.
"What are you doing today other than sleeping," Teddy asked.
"We were wedding planning," Annie smiled.
"How," Teddy asked.
"Ipad, couch and pinterest," Annie explained.
"Just getting ideas," Josh added.
"What are we thinking," Teddy asked.
"Outdoors," Annie smiled, "possibly waterfront."
"Not ocean," Teddy said, "your hair would be blown everywhere and the wind is unpredictable."
"What about the meadow at Evelyn's cabin," Josh suggested.
"It's pretty but there's no kitchen for the caterer and no washrooms," Annie pointed out.
"The community center backs onto the meadow," Teddy said, "it's part of the complex the cabin is in. Ask Evelyn if it's even possible. You could use the community center for the kitchen and washrooms."
"The meadow overlooking the river is pretty," Annie smiled, "maybe August when all the wild flowers are in bloom?"
"Call Evelyn and ask if it can even be done," Teddy said.
"We need to figure out our budget," Annie said.
"Owen and I have talked," Teddy said, "we will do the venue, catering and Annie's dress. Let us know what you want us to help with."
"Mama those are big expensive things," Annie said, "we can't ask you to do that. It's too much."
"We want to help sweetheart," Teddy smiled, "our gift to both of you."
"It's too much," Annie said, "we're just doing something small and simple."
"Do it how you want," Teddy said, "you'll only do this once, make sure it's the day you've always dreamed of."
"Thank you Teddy," Josh smiled, "but it's too much."
"We want to," Teddy insisted, "do I ever make offers I don't mean?"
"No," Annie said, "but uncle Owen."
"Feels the same way," Teddy said, "it's from both of us. We want to do this. I'm just the messenger. Why don't you get a price on a couple venus you like."
"We'll call Evelyn," Annie said, "the meadow seems perfect."
"Look online for some others as well," Teddy said, "make appointments to see them."
"I like the meadow in August, I want hydrangea and gerber daisies," Annie said.
"What colours," Teddy asked.
"We just started looking at that," Annie replied, "blues or purples."
"Bridesmaids," Teddy asked.
"Steph for my maid of honour, then Jenna, Julia and Cassidy," Annie replied.
"Jeremy is the best man, Duncan, Max and Ricky," Josh said.
"You have some decisions made," Teddy smiled.
"This morning," Annie laughed, "I need to ask the other girls still. I want to make it fun and special."
"I just asked you," Teddy said, "we were having tea and playing with Allison."
"We want to make this special," Annie said, "have fun with it. Maybe have a girls night and ask them."
"Girls night," Teddy asked.
"Friends, wine, food," Annie said, "not sharing the same dishes."
"You learned your lesson about that," Teddy laughed.
"I did," Annie agreed.
"That means you're getting rid of me for a night," Josh said.
"Go to Nathan's," Annie replied, "overnight. Duncan can figure himself out."
"I'll go hang out and come home," Josh said, "so you actually sleep."
"I sleep," Annie said, "just better when you're here."
"You sleep on me," Josh said.
"Warmer," Annie laughed.
"I don't need to know this," Teddy laughed, "show me what you're looking at for the wedding."
"I'll make coffee," Josh said.
Annie sat on the couch and pulled little Allison onto her lap.
"Ali bean do you want to be the flower girl in my wedding," Annie asked.
"Ya," Allison answered.
"She will be," Teddy replied.
"We have to find you a princess dress," Annie said.
"Princess," Allison echoed.
"What do you think," Teddy asked.
"White and frilly," Annie said, "she has to wear shoes this time."
"She was 7 months at mine and not walking. She hates shoes," Teddy said.
"She's wearing shoes," Annie said, " I don't like them either."
"You have great shoes," Teddy pointed out.
"And love the fact that I wear runners every day at work," Annie laughed.
"When you spend more time meeting with patients you'll wear real shoes," Teddy said.
"Heels," Annie asked.
"Usually," Teddy replied.
Annie said, " you live in your scrubs."
"More comfortable," Teddy laughed, "but you only see me on the Floor, you seldom are in my office with me."
"I'd like to be," Annie said, "you need a new resident."
"So does Nathan," Teddy said.
"I want to combine cardio with either peds or trauma," Annie said.
"We'll talk about it another day," Teddy said, "that's still a year off."
"Osh up," Allison yelled.
Josh picked up the little girl, "you're getting big little bean."
"Don't talk about my girls growing up," Teddy laughed, "one is planning her wedding the other is walking and talking. They're both leaving me behind."
