Chapter 1 The Meeting
Castiel was wandering. Just… wandering. He wasn't sure where he was going. Whenever he wasn't with Sam and Dean he went on little adventures himself. He could go anywhere, of course, he was an Angel of the Lord. Castiel glanced around, there were beige and brown houses surrounding him as he paced down the stone sidewalk, small plants making their way through its cracks. He paused in front of a two story house, green grass sweeping it's overgrown lawn. He looked around as he heard a small group of people approaching at an alarmingly fast rate.
"Don't worry, he loves Crocs," he heard someone say, amusement dripping from their voice.
"Yeah, I always see him eyeing Kiri's red ones." Another energetic voice said, pausing to laugh after his statement.
"Eh, he's probably just looking at 'dem toes." A female tone piped.
"Okay, that's really creepy, you know these toes are mine and mine only."
Castiel cocked his head in confusion. What are these humans talking about?
"Oooh, Sero, you should use your quirk to tape everything to the walls! We can celebrate his party upside down!" One of them suggested, energy brimming from it's tone.
Castiel was intrigued by the way these humans were speaking. They seem… happy. They have no idea what evil is in the world. He saw as the group got closer to him, finally entering his field of vision. There were four of them in total, one of them skipping ahead of the rest with her arms outstretched as she spoke loudly to the other three boys, none of them paying any attention to their surroundings.
"I can be our getaway driver, he's probably gonna kill us when he finds our lovely little gift!" The pink- haired girl exclaimed gleefully, now skipping backwards so she could better face the others.
Castiel stared at the group of peculiar children. He approached them slowly.
A boy with flat black hair and abnormally shaped elbows stopped, the other boys stopping with him, confused. The boy with raven hair warily raised a finger, pointing behind the girl with bubblegum pink hair, at Castiel.
"Oh-er- Mina look out behind you, shady stalker-dude warning." He tried to whisper quietly, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.
Castiel narrowed his eyes. "I am not a… 'shady stalker-dude'," he said in a monotone voice. "Whatever that means. I am an Angel of the Lord."
The girl turned around and jumped.
"Ah, sorry strange man!" she said, Castiel noticed that she strangely had pink skin and two small yellow horns peeking out of her lump of cotton candy-like hair.
"Did he say he is an angel…?" another one with bright yellow hair and a black stripe running through it asked. "Is this guy for real?"
Castiel was befuddled. "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can't you tell I am real?"
"Well, yes but- wait, what?" The blonde boy said, confused as to why he didn't understand his simple English. The rest of the group broke out into muffled laughter, trying not to be rude but finding this situation quite entertaining. The yellow-haired boy stood stiff with a dumbfounded expression on his face that could be read as Am I really so dumb that even a strange old man can't understand me?
"I don't understand why you are laughing. What is funny?" Castiel was becoming more and more interested in the children. Why do they have odd skin and horns? Are they something Sam and Dean would hunt? Or are they another kind of human? Castiel was sure he had seen every kind of species on the planet. Who were these people? Maybe he should call Dean. He might know.
"Excuse me for a moment," Castiel said, pulling out his phone. He walked away from the group of friends and called Dean.
Just like always, Dean picks up the phone immediately. "Cas? Where have you been?"
"I've been wandering. Have you ever seen a creature with pink skin and hair with golden horns?"
"What the hell are you talking about? Where are you?"
"I have no idea. She also had black instead of white around her eyes. Her eyes are golden."
"Cas are you drunk?"
"What? Of course not! What made you think that?"
"Because you sound delusional. Uh… could you describe where you are? Like what state?"
"I'm in some kind of neighborhood."
"Wow thanks Cas, that really narrows it down."
The girl stamped towards Castiel with a slight aggression.
"Hey!" she called, pulling the phone away from his ear. "I am not a creature! I am a human being with a name. You can call me Mina, and that's Sero," she pointed to the black haired boy, "Kaminari," she signaled to the yellow-haired boy, "and Kirishima." she finished, pointing her thumb over her shoulder at a boy with red spiky hair and a bandana. "Don't you know it's rude to walk away from conversations like that?"
"Mina, calm down, it's not that big of a deal." the red haired boy- Kirishima- said, flashing a comforting smile with his alarmingly sharp teeth.
"Yeah, I'm sure the mental hospital will pick him up sooner or later!" Kaminari added with a chuckle.
Dean's voice was muffled, but Cas could hear him yelling. "It's nice to meet you all, but I have never seen anything like you… Mima. Now can I have my phone back?"
"Mina," she corrected him, passing him his phone back.
"Thank you Mina."
"-CAS? CAS WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?"
"Dean, they seem like normal children."
"Okay? But who the hell are they?"
"Humans I think."
"Well ouch," Kaminari said with fake hurt in his voice. "Not human enough for you?"
"You say that as if you're not human…" Sero added, bringing his hand up to cup his chin.
Cas stared at them, not sure what to think anymore. "Ok now I'm not so sure."
"Well, they don't call me the alien queen for nothin'!" Mina piped, only to receive humored looks from her peers.
"Alien?" Cas asked.
"ALIENS AREN'T REAL CAS WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?"
"The pink haired girl said she was the alien queen."
"Cas, seriously now, where are you?"
Castiel looked at the group and asked, "Where are we?"
"Well…" Kaminari began, looking around. "I'd say, we are on the street!"
"Seriously Denki? This is obviously a sidewalk." Kirishima said, rolling his eyes in false annoyance.
Cas furrowed his brows in confusion. "Um, Dean. They aren't being very specific."
"Are you anywhere in America? Are you on another frickin' planet?"
"I don't think so."
"We are on the run! Be careful who you trust, as the cops are coming, since we are transporting an illegal alien, a.k.a, moi!" Mina said, bringing her shoulders up in pride, her hand settling over her heart.
"Mina, shut up, this dude can't take sarcasm." Sero turned to Castiel. "We're in Japan."
"I'm in Japan."
"Japan? Cas, why the hell are you in friggin Japan?"
"I told you. I was wandering."
"How do you just wander into Japan?"
"I don't know."
"Well I can't come. I- uh… I have a case that I'm working on with Sam. We're… uh.. Hunting demons."
"You could go on a plane."
"Sorry no time. Oh! Aha would'ja look at the time! Gotta go Cas."
Dean hung up. Castiel was wondering what Dean's peculiar behavior was all about, but it didn't really bother him.
"Oop-" Kaminari whispered to Kirishima, who were all listening into their conversation and could sense that Dean wasn't telling the full truth. "He just been stood up."
"Oooh, that's gotta hurt!" Kirishima sighed quietly.
"Uh," Cas started, not entirely sure what to say. He cleared his throat, "I should be going now, I need to continue my wander."
"I don't know if that's a good idea man, you'll probably get lost and won't be so lucky as to find another group of the best, totally not confusing at all, people to point you in the right direction.." Sero murmured thoughtfully.
"He'll probably be fiiinnneee, plus, we still have to fill Blasty's place with those wretched Crocs!" Kaminari stated, the excitement already leaking back into his voice.
"Hey, don't say that about my bootiful shoes!" Kirishima cried, offended.
Castiel's eyes were brimming with curiosity. These humans are one of a kind, he thought. It's kind of nice to have a break from hunting. "What are Crocs? And who is this… Blasty?"
All four kids froze and fell into a shocked silence. Kirishima slowly turned his head to face the taller man.
"You. Don't. Know. What. Crocs. Are?" He spluttered in horror, pausing in between each word for added effect, his eyes as wide as saucers.
Cas shook his head slightly.
There were a few more moments of tense silence before all the kids began to argue all at once.
"Good! Spare him, he doesn't need to know of the terrible, terrible horrors which share this world with us!" Kaminari announced, a glint of determination in his eye.
"No, Crocs are the most wonderful thing from here to all of the 11 planets!" Kirishima cried in indignance. Sero looked at him.
"Nine. There's only nine planets, stupid."
"Hey, well you're not all that intelligent either!"
"You are literally the only person here who wears Crocs, and your calling me stupid?"
"Oh, woe is me, our poor baby shark has taken a turn towards villainy! Wearing those awful shoes of his." Mina said dramatically, putting the back of her hand to her forehead.
"Mama Mina, no!" Kirishima turned to her, betrayal shining in his eyes. As they continued to argue, Kirishima smirked and slipped away from them, towards Castiel.
"This is a Croc." He said quietly, slipping his hand into a bag that Castiel had not originally noticed. He pulled out a rubbery yellow shoe, with small decorations poking out of various holes that coated the outside.
"It's… a shoe?" Cas said putting his face close to the Croc to examine it.
"Oh, it's not a shoe, it's the shoe. " Kirishima said proudly, as if the yellow thing was his own child.
"So every shoe here looks like this?" Castiel asked, shifting closer to the shoe.
Kirishima's smile faltered. "Eh, well- no, not really…though they should…" He muttered, saying the last one mostly to himself. By now, the rest of his friends had noticed his disappearance, and looked around to find him, only to discover that he was standing with what looked like a strangely shaped block of swiss cheese in his hand.
"Kirishima!" Mina cried in over dramatic shock. "How dare you show this innocent bean your demonic creatures!" The pink-haired girl scolded, now realizing just how clueless this random man is and therefore dubbing him an 'innocent bean.'
"Well at least I don't wear those fluffy slipper things out in public!" He said, referring to the fuzzy lumps that were wrapped around her pink feet. She gasped.
Are they friends or enemies? And why would they call me an innocent bean? I look nothing like a bean, Cas thought.
"Both of you need to get your last brain cells replaced, flippity flops are where it's at." Kaminari said, leaning down and removing his Pikachu flip flops, only to wave them around in his friends' faces.
"Why are you fighting? Aren't you friends? I've seen Sam and Dean fight, but they don't have any friends. Is this what friends do?"
They all paused mid quarrel, which was probably for the best as Sero was just about to get his slides in on the action.
"Oh, well uuh…" Mina trailed off. "This is a friendly argument! Since we are all friends…" She smiled. She turned only to find the rest of her buddies straining to contain their laughter.
"Uhm...what's so funny?" She asked.
"The dude just up and exposed that guy he was talking to earlier!" Sero said in between snorts. "Didn't you hear him? They have no friends!" Mina was going to join them when Kirishima noticed something.
"Guys!" He said hurriedly. "It's 5:01, Angry Boom Boom Boy will be here any second!" He explained, a slight panic in his voice. Their faces morphed into a sort of panicked amusement.
"Uh oh, that can't be good!" Kaminari laughed.
"Who is Angry Boom Boom Boy?" Cas asked.
"Well, he is another friend of mine…" Kirishima started. Mina fake coughed, "Boyfriend," The only response she got to that was a smack on the head.
"Well anyways," Kirishima continued. "He is more the angry type, so if you thought we were enemies…. Then he would probably be like our murderer or something." He said with a wave of his hand.
Cas nodded slowly, taking in everything they were saying. Humans can be in a relationship with the same gender? Maybe I feel this for Dean… Cas thought, then shook his head. No. I am an angel. I can't be in a relationship with a human. But he is the most complex human I have ever known… His green eyes are so deep and beautiful… And his hair… He sighed, knowing Dean only had eyes for women. His dreams could never turn to reality.
"Well anyways, he should've been here around 5, sooo…." Sero uttered. And as if right on cue, a loud explosion could be heard nearby.
Cas jumped. "What was that?"
