YUGI'S POV
~ONE HOUR BEFORE YAMI BAKURA'S ARRIVAL~
Yugi sighed as Heba dragged him around, Yorokobi yipping and jumping around them. Kudon followed behind, glancing every once and a while at Yugi, then smiling. Yugi noticed this and smiled back at her. Kudon blushed and looked away.
As they passed some of the shops scattered about, one merchant motioned to Yugi. "Hey kid, over here. I got something for ya." Yugi glanced at Heba, suspicion on his face. Heba nodded encouragingly. "Go ahead! He's not going to hurt you."
Yugi walked up to the man, noticing plenty of dry dusty fabrics placed in piles on a blanket. He sat down, across from the merchant. Yorokobi barked and ran after a cat. Kudon laughed and followed him, but thankfully Heba stayed behind, keeping an eye on Yugi.
The merchant quickly looked left and right, before leaning closer to Yugi. "Y'know, I can tell you're not from around here. If you go around looking like that, you'll definitely wind up in prison. Here, I'll give you some of my merchandise."
Yugi raised his hands in defence, surprised. "Im sorry I can't accept it. I have no money." The merchant winked. "Don't worry, it's free. This time only." He brought out a linen white dress and shoved it in Yugi's hands. (I know its not a dress but I literally don't know the name of what they wore in the day.)
Yugi blanked at the clothing, then composed himself. "Oh no sir, I couldn't possibly..." The merchant shook his head and shushed him.
"Look kid, I'm just looking out for you. But don't make such a fuss, it's bad for business if customers see me giving you free stuff."
Yugi bowed his head. "Thank you." He mumbled. He stood up and walked off, Heba trailing behind.
"Hey Yugi, follow me." Yugi turned and followed Heba behind a building. Heba covered his eyes. "Quick, go ahead and change." Embarrassed, Yugi did as he was asked, sneezing as sand wafted up his nose.
He folded up the hospital gown, and tapped Heba. "Alright I'm done." Heba uncovered his eyes, and nodded approvingly. "Great! Now you look like you belong!" Yugi shrugged. "Thanks I guess."
Heba frowned, and stared at Yugi, studying him. Yugi blinked. Heba crossed his arms. "You're upset about something." Yugi flinched, suddenly finding the ground very interesting. Heba poked him. "I was right! What's bothering you?"
Yugi sighed through his nose. "Remeber that guy I was looking for? I really miss him. I need to find him." Heba was silent for a bit, then patted Yugi's arm. "Let's go find him then."
Yugi shook his head. "You don't understand, he could be anywhere."
He stiffened as a chill ran down his back. A dry wind blew, stinging the two boy's eyes. Yugi knew what this ment. "You have to run Heba! He's here!" He whispered franticly. Heba took a step back, startled by Yugi's sudden change in demeanour.
"What are you saying? Who's here?"
Yugi grabbed Heba's shoulders, his eyes wide. "Quick!" He hissed. "What's the fastest way out of this village?"
Heba jumped a little and grabbed Yugi's hand, leading the way out of town. "I still don't know what's going on.."
Yugi squeezed Heba's hand. "You don't want to know." Heba glanced back at Yugi, and saw he was genuinely scared. Getting scared himself, Heba started running, pulling the taller boy behind him as best he could.
~BACK TO THE PRESENT~
Suddenly a gust of wind blasted up in between Yugi and Heba, then coiled around Yugi and flew off. Yugi reached out, trying to grab Heba's hand. Heba leaped foward but just missed Yugi's fingers. "No! Come back! Give my friend back!" Heba cried.
The gust of wind ignored him, carrying off Yugi.
Yugi tried to struggle, but how can you find against air? Something that can't be grabbed, or held?
He only had one last option. /Help!/ He cried in his mind, using as much mental energy as he could, knowing that long distance mental communication was very hard to do. He closed his eyes waiting. A familiar worried presence faintly brushed his mind, before cutting off.
Yugi opened his eyes and smiled, despite the situation he was in. 'It's all up to him now. Please hurry.'
