Disclaimer- No I do not own Naruto or any of the other characters but, and I say this in all seriousness, they own meJ.

Summary- "You can't help who you love Hinata, that's why they call it falling. You fall into a dark abyss and you don't know where you'll land. But it is this unexpectedness, this excitement that keeps you going. It might hurt or it just might make you feel one of the best emotions ever. And it's never easy to make your way back but for that you have me. So don't worry, if things get hard, and you feel like your feet might never touch the ground; remember that I'll be there to grab your hand; or at least throw you a rope to hold on to."

A/N- Helooo my fellow fanfiction addicts. I have had the idea for this story for soooo long and I am so excited to finally release it.

Alsoo I feel like my summary doesn't actually summarise the story. So I will just quickly explain a few things:

· - The first chapter is KibaHina's backstory kinda thing cuz I felt like this needed a separate chapter for its own and I did NOT want to write their break up as a flashback or something. So KibaHina haters please don't hate this just yet. They WILL be separated by the end of this chapter. And this is kinda the root for the whole story :P

· - Hinata does have some ooc-ness, but I just can't help it alright! I cant make her cry or stutter all the time, especially when I need her emotions to be raw and angry. So there's that

· -And finally, what inspired this story? There's this indian Bollywood movie called 'Dear Zindagi' and it's about this girl who has post-traumatic stress disorder and her journey towards mental stability. So I wanted to write something similar but not exactly like that. Actually scratch that, this story is nothing like that. But whatever.

So now please read the 1 st chapter and thank god for putting an end to my rambling.

OoOoO

It was the best feeling she had ever felt.

The adrenaline that rushed through her veins, the laughter that she couldn't hold in, the mirth that danced behind her pale eyes, the persistent grin that refused to leave her face, yes, the heiress to the Hyuga enterprises, the calm and poised Hinata Hyuga, couldn't keep herself from grinning from ear to ear. If her father had been with her, she would have received quite an earful about correct posture.

But he wasn't there, so screw posture. She didn't care about who thought what, all she wanted was to freeze time and, as cliché as it sounded, live in that moment forever. The only witness to her goofy grins and chuckles was the person who was responsible for the sense of contentment and joy that ran through her.

His grip remained firm on the steering wheel and his eyes were strictly directed towards the road in front, but his mouth betrayed his otherwise serious composure as he let out a chuckle, "Why are you laughing so much?"

Her pale lavender eyes met his bright cerulean orbs, "I don't know. I just feel happy".

A tanned hand let go of the steering wheel and instead took Hinata's pale hand in his own, their fingers intertwined as he gave her a gentle squeeze.

Her laughter subsided but that twinkle of mirth still waltzed around in her eyes, she gazed into the deep azure eyes that had been directed back to the front. The scenery around them was beautiful, euphoric even, but it did nothing to stray her attention from him.

She didn't know how but this could never get boring. What even was this? In short, everything. Everything she felt when she was around him, when she touched him, the pure bliss that would vibrate through her entire body, The way the twinkle of the stars would get brighter, the whistling of the wind would grow sharper, Everything was better around him.

But this is sadly not where her story starts.

24th September, Monday, 7:15 a.m.

"Hinata...babe, please shut the alarm", a low mumble rose from somewhere underneath a pile of blankets that had been piled up on their bed.

Well, the word 'their' implied that it was being used and shared by the both of them, but 'shared' was a loose term. Currently for them, it meant Kiba sprawled across the mattress while Hinata ran around the room with less than a shirt to cover herself.

"Yeah, just switch it off yourself, please Kiba. I need to get to the office by 8 and I'm already sure I won't make it till then. Father will want my head served on a platter if I don't make it on time." She stood in front of the bathroom mirror as she tucked her shirt into her skirt and straightened out her clothes.

A low grunt was heard as a figure slowly emerged from underneath the mountain of blankets. The shrill ringing that had previously filled their ears was brought to a halt.

Two arms snaked themselves around hinata's waste as Kiba settled his chin on her shoulder, "Good morning, hina."

"Good morning, Kiba", a gentle smile tugged at her lips, erasing her previously frustrated expression. Her eyelids gently dropped over her pale irises, her body absorbing the warmth that Kiba radiated.

"Ok, now let go, I really need to leave….Kiba?"

Said man defiantly shook his head and nestled his face even deeper in the crook of her neck, his breath caressing her soft, pale skin. A shiver went through body at the tingling sensation and soon the sound of her own laughter filled the air.

"Stop…Kiba..that ti-ti-tickles", she gasped for breath, trying to make a full sentence without passing out. Sucking one final deep breath in, she turned around, her eyes narrowing on a Kiba who was grinning from ear to ear.

"I'm serious now, okay? I'll meet you for lunch at 'Mama Lulu's' for lunch. Don't forget".

Hinata gave Kiba a quick peck on the check and with that she left, leaving Kiba standing all alone in their room; staring longingly at the door.

24th September, Friday, 8:30 a.m

"Is he here yet? Please don't tell me he's here already."

Hinata was tired. Her breath coming in small pants (1) as she hurriedly made it to her office. Her assistant and dear friend merely smiled at her dishevelled state before comforting the pale eyed girl. Her emerald eyes kind as she spoke.

"He's not here yet, don't worry. Neji said he would be waiting for you at his office though; to revise the proposal one last time before you both need to present it to Mr Hyuuga."

Hinata let out a sigh of relief as she dusted and straightened out her attire, "Thank you Sakura, I'll go see Neji then."

Sakura simply smiled at hinata's retreating back, "no problem, hina."

Hinata walked hastily out of her office. Thank freaking god that her father had been late today; she would have been dead by now if he had seen the slip in her punctuality. Although possibility of her death had not been confirmed negative just yet; a meeting with all the board members, including her father, was enough to give the poor Hyuuga a heart attck.

Hinata's footsteps echoed off the walls as she walked through the hallways of Hyuga Enterprises. They led her through a maze of clean, marble corridors till she found herself facing a large wooden door.

"Come in Hinata." a deep voice called out from the other side of the door before Hinata could knock on it.

She gently pushed open the door, "Neji-nee, good morning. I heard father hasn't arrived yet so the meeting has been delayed. Are you aware of the revised timings?"

The brown haired Hyuga cleared his throat as he massaged his temple," Good morning, Hinata. Yes, I was informed about the setback in the meeting. And I think; I'm not sure, but I think it has been rescheduled to be conducted around noon."

"Oh, oh ok, thank you. Please excuse me; I need to make a call."

She let the words escape her mouth while her mind wandered over to Mama Lulu's café, right where she was supposed to meet Kiba for lunch, 'supposed to', huh, well that won't be happening today anymore.

A sigh was let out from her parted lips as her pale eyes stared at the bright screen of her phone. Kiba's name could be read on device as it sat on her palm.

"Why isn't he picking up?" she clicked her tongue in annoyance as she went through her list of contacts again. Her fingers tapped on another name that flashed brightly.

Ringing….

Ringing….

Ringing….

"Oh god, please pick up", Hinata cried mentally. Her prayers were answered as she heard a voice on the other end.

"Hey, um, sakura. The meeting with the shareholders got delayed and now it will be held at some time around noon. Could you please give Kiba a call and inform him that I won't be able to see him for lunch? I tried calling him myself but he's not picking up and I don't know when I'll be able to try again. Please, sakura."

The lavender eyed girl heard a light laugh from sakura, "Hinata, breathe. You said all that so fast. I'll inform him, don't worry. I can even just go and tell him in person if you'd like."

"Thank you sakura, it means a lot."

"Hinata, I'm your assistant, helping you is literally my job. You don't need to fret so much about stuff like this. And if you feel that grateful then just buy me a drink when we get off work."

"I'll treat you, I promise."

"I'll hold you to that."

A short chuckle left her plump lips, "In fact, I might just buy you more than one drink. God knows I'll need them too after today."

"That's a plan", the pink haired girl said with a wide smile, "Alright, go now or Neji will lecture the both of us. Again."

"Bye, sakura."

"Good luck for the meeting, Hinata."

24th September, Friday, 1:30 p.m

Today was beautiful. From the pleasant weather to the way the sunlight filtered through the thick canopy of the trees. The wind gently whizzed past her, making the pink strands of her hair dance about.

She walked down the street to a small, homely looking café. The bell softly rang as she pulled open the door and entered, her eyes scanning over the entire place. The walls were of made of red-clay brick, with framed posters of motivational quotes that hung on them. Chatter of the people in the café filled the air. There was a barista standing in her workspace as she noted down customer's order.

She walked slowly towards the counter. The customer who was collecting his food thanked the barista as he swiftly turned around. His eyes met hers, as she observed surprise flit across them but it was soon replaced with relief. And then he did something which was quite simple, but enough to make her stop on her tracks.

He smiled.

The corners of his mouth turned slightly upwards but, oh god, it made him even more attractive if that was even possible, his dark hair that swayed ever so slightly when the wind blew, the red marks on his cheeks stretching ever so lightly, his caramel like skin glowed as the afternoon sun struck it and his eyes, oh his eyes, where could she even begin to describe what she saw in them. Their hues changed as emotions flew across them-

"Sakura! Hey sakura. Are you okay? "

A voice broke her train of thoughts. It was cheerful but the worry in it could be clearly heard. Wait...she recognised this voice , she blinked…once…twice…and then she realised the man she was thinking about, the one who was standing a few feet away from her, was now waving a tan hand in front of her face.

"aah!", she jumped backwards, heat rising up to her cheeks due to the embarrassment she had just caused for herself.

He let out a chuckle as he guided her towards a table near a large window of the café. Setting his food down on the table, he pulled out a chair for her to sit.

"Ever the gentleman, I see."

Another nervous chuckle escaped him as he sat down on the seat across from her, "I try…so tell me…did she buy it?"

"Yeah, I don't think she suspects anything. Everybody is doing a good job at hiding it. I have got to say I am surprised but even Hiashi kept up his end of the deal."

"Aah, I always knew that old man cared a lot more than he let on. If he and Neji are following the plan then she wouldn't reach home till at least 7 p.m."

"Yeah that seems about right. I'll be there with her anyway, to distract her if she starts to catch on or something else goes wrong. Thank you so much for helping me with this sakura. I couldn't have done this without you."

"Idiot, I think you're forgetting that she's my friend too."

"I'm still thankful though. She's lucky to have a friend like you."

Sakura stared at Kiba as the words escaped his mouth.

She's not.

She's not lucky to have me as a friend, Kiba.

Friends don't fall for their friends' boyfriends.

24th September, Friday, 6:30 p.m

Her brain wasn't working.

It just wasn't.

She didn't think her other senses were working either.

Well, she wasn't sure about all her other senses but she was definitely going deaf.

Why she thought this you ask? Because her father just sputtered some utter non sense and Hiashi Hyuga does not speak anything non sensible nor does he lie. So the only other explanation for the next words slipping out of his mouth was the deafness of her own ears.

"You are getting promoted."

That's what he had said, but she didn't believe him.

It wasn't that she was incompetent or bad at what she did; she was amazing at it in fact. Yet the idea of her working directly under her father seemed so….unreal.

She might be the heir of the Hyuga Enterprises but her father had always expected Hinata and her siblings to start from the bottom, making their way up on their own.

Working directly under her father was something she had strived for since the day she had started working for the company but now that she had actually achieved it, why couldn't she believe it?

"How long are you going to stare at the desk, Hinata? Or is there something important written there that only you can see?"

Hinata's pale eyes looked up to see her cousin taking the seat across from her. "Sorry, neji-nee. I'm kind of still processing the fact that I'm getting promoted. It just got me by surprise is all."

Neji's eyes became softer as he gazed at his cousin, "Hey, look at me, you deserve this. You work so hard for this company; there is no one better to take that position than you. Even uncle knows this, and I know he might not show it but he's very proud of you."

"Thank you, nee-san, your words mean a lot." Hinata replied truthfully, as unbelievable as all of this was, it was nice to know that her family had her back. Now, there was just one more person she needed to inform to bask in al of this glory and, excuse her informal words, get drunk.

"I think I'll head home now, it has been a long day. Please inform sakura the same if she inquires. And if she says anything about a treat, inform her I am not well."

A brown eyebrow shot up as he peered at his cousin curiously.

"No problem, Hinata. I'll, er, inform sakura of your sudden illness if she asks for a treat."

24th September, Friday, 8:30 p.m

Oh boy, had the traffic been bad today. A normally short drive back home had gotten elongated to a point where Hinata wanted to start screaming out of frustration.

Her feet dragged her up the stairs to her and Kiba's apartment. She was so tired, and all she wanted was to go take a shower, but a small part of her wanted to dance with excitement at the reaction she would receive from Kiba when she told him about the promotion.

She reached the door to her apartment and inserted the key in the little hole.

The door gave a silent 'click' but the sound was completely trampled upon by the sudden outburst of music that hit her.

"SURPRISE!" They all yelled over the loud music. Who were they? The 50 people that had just shouted, people that were in her house, all looking ecstatic, most of whom she failed to recognise.

A large banner hung across her living room that had "Congratulations" sprawled across it in bold, colourful letters, under the banner stood Kiba with a bouquet of roses.

She just stood there with a pale hand clamped across her mouth, her eyes wide, staring at the scene in front of her. 50 pairs of eyes stared at her expectantly but the only ones she looked into were a warm, dark shade which looked straight at her, filled with love.

She walked into her home, her eyes still expressing the surprise that she so clearly felt.

Kiba slowly made his way to Hinata and handed her the bouquet of the sweet smelling roses. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her into a hug as his warmth spread through her body.

Her mouth melted into a smile as she felt a warm tear roll down her cheek. "I-I had no idea. Did you plan this w-whole thing?"

His breath was warm when she felt him whisper into her ear," Sakura and shino helped out a ton too. "

Hinata pulled away from the hug as she looked over at her pink haired friend to see a wide smile on her face. A hand was placed on her shoulder, as shino smiled warmly before grabbing Hinata, kiba and sakura into a group hug.

Hinata's voice was barely over a whisper but the other three heard her loud and clear,"I love you guys, you have no idea how much I appreciate this."

"Well, I hope this makes you realise how much we appreciate you; which is a lot by the way if you're still confused."

"yeah hina, sakura is not lying, we all love you too."

Sakura's voice chirped in once again as her mouth broke into a grin," Ok, This is getting a little too cheesy for my taste."

Kiba barked out a laugh as Hinata sniffed and gave a watery smile while shino remained as impassive and quiet as ever. Her pale eyes looked over all three of her friends before setting them on the "party" that they had thrown.

The couch that once sat in the room was nowhere to be found just like multiple other pieces of furniture that she and kiba had decorated the house with. In place of all that furniture, there were people dancing to music that boomed out of the loud speakers, serving themselves to pizza and beer that flowed freely. The whole celebration seemed lively and enjoyable, however Hinata just had one question…

"Who are all these people? I mean some of them I recognise like Tenten and Neji-nee, of course, but the others…"

Kiba, sakura and shino gave each other nervous glances before kiba decided to answer the question that had escaped hinata's mouth," Do you not know them?"

A sigh escaped hinata's lips as she shook her head.

"Well you see, we've seen you only ever hang out with us and nobody else and we couldn't really ask you to fill the guest list. So we invited some of sakura and my friends, most of whom work for Hyuga enterprises. So we thought you might be familiar with them."

"Oh", was all that came out of hinata's mouth before she slowly shook her head and a gentle smile lit up her face," It doesn't matter who else is here. Let's just go dance or something, or better yet, I could really use a drink."

24th September, Saturday, 12:30 a.m

Her feet hurt. Her arms hurt, her head hurt.

But did she care? Well, no. She didn't know if it was the booze flowing in her system answering or rationale thought but the answer still remained a big fat 'no'.

They had been dancing and drinking for more than three hours and at this point in the night her body was screaming in protest. With a particularly high leap, she threw her arms in the air as the song came to an end, her feet almost giving away as they hit the floor.

Ok maybe she did care.

Just a little.

She limped out of the dance floor, previously her sitting room, and made her way to her own bedroom.

Her body relaxed itself on her bed as she gently rubbed her own heels. She almost jumped when Kiba popped his head inside the room with a wide grin on his face, "Everything okay?"

Hinata slowly nodded her head before a thought struck her mind.

She gasped and shuffled towards Kiba. Her small hands wrapped around his and she pushed him into their bed. "Wait right here. I got you something. Do not open your eyes no matter what! It's a surprise."

"Your wish is my command, Hinata-sama." His grin persistent on his face as his palm sat on top of his eyes.

Hinata let out a giggle as she quickly shuffled over to the guest room.

After leaving the office, she had stopped by the liquor store and bought her and kiba's favourite bottle of wine to celebrate the news of her promotion. The particular wine was quite expensive for them to be able to enjoy frequently, and was bought only on special occasions. And a she got a raise! What might be a better excuse to buy it?

This was, of course, before she found out that neji had already told everyone and they had surprised her before she could tell them.

However, she smiled at the feeling of the cool smooth glass in her own hands, imagining his reaction. She would finally be the one to surprise instead of being the one getting surprised again.

She made her way back to the bedroom, excitement eminent in her eyes. Two wine glasses and a bottle in her grip. If she wasn't careful she would drop the flutes and that would a pain to clean –

Too late.

It was too late as they came crashing down on the hard floor.

But that information wasn't even getting registered by her brain as she stared at the scene before her. A scream had formed and gotten stuck in the back of her throat forming a lump too hard for her to swallow.

Kiba was lying half-naked on the bed with an extremely dishevelled sakura lying on top of him.

No.

Just no.

This wasn't possible. It just wasn't.

Sakura is one of her best friends and kiba loves her.

He does. She knew he does. Why would he go through the trouble of arranging a celebration for her if he didn't even care?

But if he loved her he wouldn't just dumbly stare at her as she felt her heart break into a million tiny pieces. He would do something about it right? She knew the answer already. He would. But did she want him to come after her when he was the reason she was in this state in the first place?

Yes she did, and this answer made something in her gut wrench painfully.

She wanted him to come and tell her that this was all a nightmare that would be over in a few short minutes. She wanted him to tell her that what she was doing, and how she could regain her consciousness.

But her own hand aggressively pinching her own skin told her otherwise. It told her the painful truth. Truth that could make her hurl on the spot as well stab somebody with the broken shards of glass that lay on the ground.

She felt anger, hurt, guilt, all overwhelm her train of thought, not allowing her to do anything but stand still.

"Leave", a tiny voice in the back of her head screamed at her.

It took all the energy she had to obey the command.

She turned away from the scene, slamming the door shut behind her. Now, tears flowed down her cheeks like water from a dam.

Her arm in front of her eyes, her hair flowing as the cold wind of the night hit her, she ran out the front door of their-

No.

His house.

26th September, Monday, 12:00 p.m

Sunlight filtered through the teal and mustard curtains of the room, making the brightly coloured couches and floral cushions of the room seem more vibrant that they were.

Hinata fiddled with a small mechanical, wooden bird placed on the window sill; her eyes a dim shade of violet, the bags under her eyes appeared more pronounced as the days passed.

"It hurts. It hurts a lot."

"Can you tell me what it is that hurts?"

"My head. I had the worst hangover yesterday, couldn't go outside the whole day without wanting to split my head into two."

The therapist let out a sigh and looked at Hinata with worry in her eyes, "You know that's not what I meant."

Hinata looked at the ground before answering, "I don't know. It just hurts, not in a specific spot, more like everywhere."

"Do you know why it hurts?"

"What sort of a question is that? I just walked in on my boyfriend and my b-best friend…"

"How do you feel about that?"

Her pale eyes looked up at the doctor with disbelief in her eyes, she silently shook her head. She wouldn't cry, or scream. She can't lose her control and let her anger get the best of her. But then again she wanted to let it all out-

"How the fuck do you think?! Can I leave? Can I please just leave? Your questions seriously sound so stupid. I don't have time for this bullshit that you are asking, and they are not helping me. At all."

'That could have gone better', she internally groaned. But she couldn't help it.

There was just so much. So much that she wanted to let out.

But who would she even let it out to?

The therapist? Yeah right.

Her friends? She actually coul- Oh wait she just lost all of them.

Neji or her father? She loved them, but just…no.

The doctor's expression did not waver by Hinata's outburst as she looked at Hinata with the same expression, "Please just try answering the question maybe you would feel better if you do."

Maybe.

Maybe she would.

Maybe if she kept shouting, she might feel better. She knew how stupid that logic sounded, but it did nothing to stop the next words from coming out of her mouth.

"You want to know how I feel. Like Shit, absolute fucking shit. I want to scream till my lungs rip apart, I want to tear out my own hair a-and I want to hit something. Anything. My legs feel like rubber, like I can collapse any second but almost every cell in my body is telling me to fucking ignore all these instincts and just run.

Run as far as I can. Away from anybody and everybody.

Call me overdramatic if you want to but I gave that relationship 5 fucking years of my life. 5 y-years I remained committed to that cheating s-s-son of a bitch. So excuse me for not w-walking away from this entire scenario with only but a few tears streaking across my face."

The therapist's expression remained apathetic," Do you feel any better?"

Hinata barked out a laugh but the lack of humour in it was imminent. She slowly stood up, her head shaking.

"No. B-but did you seriously think that shouting a few words at you would make me feel better? You are not even the person who is supposed to be listening to this. He is supposed to listen. And I will make him."

(1)- I argued with myself for the longest time if I should change this or not because it sounds as if her breath was wearing pants; but no what I mean is the tired breathing thing; panting. *screams to self: SHUT UP, YOU DUMBASS*

Ohk that was chapter 1. Phew done and done. I know that we got no NaruHina moments in this entire chapter (Except for the first few paras but they don't really count so eh) BUT promise you Naruto will show up in the next chapter in all his tan and blonde glory.

Also can we talk about how corny this chap got at certain parts :P

So please review to make me a lil more encouraged to release faster updates [heh :') ] And also check out "What's your Name?" a naruhina oneshot written by yours truly. (please excuse my lame attempts at self promotion)
