TDNKCI: Episode 8: "I Don't Bluff"
"Last time on Total Drama Nui Kaua: The Cursed Island…
"Being stuck on Weliweli finally snapped the twins over the edge of physical violence towards each other, and as a result in the entirely eroded trust, Aubrey hid the episode's curse, that she and Molly were bound to the same fate should either of their teams head to elimination, from her spoiled sister! Meanwhile, Freya dealt with all the fallout coming from blowing her game up, while Kyle started to work on her rehabilitation, though he did neglect to share with her the fact that he held the Banshee Tiki. You know who didn't neglect to share it? Sherwood, who went straight to the men of the Vampires with the information as they all speculated about the whereabouts of the Demon Tiki, since the team no longer existed.
The challenge was an island-wide hunt for panthers in the height of a tropical storm, and in the end, a unified Vampires clenched the victory, saving all except a very dissatisfied Molly from elimination. Despite all the aid that she, Barnard, and Twilight gave the Banshees, they secured Kyle's might and Freya's order keeping skills too late and the Banshees, along with Molly, were sent to Po'ino.
Truly vulnerable for the first time, Freya attempted, to no effect, to bluff her way through the ceremony, even while wasting her vote on Sherwood to keep true to an earlier promise, but thanks to Molly's petty nature, despite her playing the Vampire Tiki, her vote for Aubrey, thanks to the episode's curse, also counted as a self-vote, effectively eliminating both twins from the competition and causing them to share a ride on the Horror Hearse off of the island, but not before Freya gave Aubrey her earrings as an acknowledgement of her defeat, even if the eliminations didn't reflect it. Now we're down to a nice 15 contestants left, but one is about to find that their hunt for victory has come to an end.
Find out who, right here! On Total Drama Nui Kaua!...The Cursed!...Island!"

Location: Visceral Vampires Cottage (Deck)
Contestant(s): Aleister, Antonio, Barnard, Samuel, Twilight
Every single one of the remaining Vampires relaxed in the rare and peaceful sunlight, reclining in porch chairs as they looked out towards the beaches.
"What a day…" Barnard stretched. "Really makes you appreciate opportunities like this, don't you think so?"
"It's bright out…" Antonio shielded his eyes from the sun. "Almost forgot that was possible."
"I bet you had nothing but sunshine all the time during Zero Sum, right Twilight?" Samuel turned, but Twilight was fast asleep in her chair.
"Oh, she's out like a light. What about you Aleister, hanging in there?"
"He's gone too…" Barnard waved his hand over Aleister's face to no reaction. "Can't say I blame either of them. Aleister's spent more time on Weliweli than anyone else and Twilight's roommates were Natalie and Molly, doubt she ever got much sleep to begin with. Still, this presents a good opportunity. I think the three of us ought to stick together as an alliance from here on out."
"Hm…" Samuel rocked his head back and forth in contemplation.
"I'm listening. Reason?" Antonio yawned.
"Molly being gone is great and all, but the fact is, both of the returning players on our team are still here. Now, I might not have seen any previous seasons, but I'm familiar enough with these kinds of shows that if a returning player made it nice and far to the end, oh boy would that look impressive considering the target simply being a returning player paints on your back."
"Fair." Antonio yawned again.
"I'd feel a little bad voting for Aleister though considering he hasn't had much time to actively play the game." Samuel voiced some concern. "Whenever he was around he mainly functioned as a Molly wall for the rest of us."
"Well, ideally we don't lose." Barnard laughed. "But if we do...we've already gone through 10 players. A merge can't be terribly far, maybe we consider voting Twilight?"
"The biggest problem I have with that one is the message that might be sent if we send her home."
"To the other returns?" Antonio asked. "I don't know about Sherwood, but if that whole outburst back at beach bowling was anything to go by, Freya's got no venom left in those fangs."
"I meant the other girls." Samuel corrected. "Out of 15 players, only 6 are women."
"And the last thing we need are the five other women banding together in solidarity considering they still make up a third of the remaining cast."
"Well, we can't keep either of them around forever, it'll only hurt all our games in the long-run." Barnard debated. "We can't just follow in their shadows or we'll never get anywhere."
As the three continued their debate back indoors, both Twilight and Aleister stretched and looked at each other.
"Sounds bad." He chuckled nervously.
"Sounds typical." Twilight sighed. "Molly's gone, so our team has no big baddie to unite against."
"If Molly hadn't wasted that Vampire Tiki we could easily get rid of Barnard but as it stands now, we'd need a third vote."
"Personally…" Twilight stood up to continue stretching. "I agree with what he said."
"Getting rid of the returns?" Aleister's eyes widened. "Isn't that-"
"No, dipshit." Twilight rolled her eyes. "Ideally, we don't lose. So that's just what we'll do. We'll avoid that bonfire until the merge forces us to go there."
"Hey, all that talk of a girl alliance…"
"Relax. No way am I teaming up with any of the other women left." She turned towards the door.
"One last thing to pester you with before I go out for a walk, I swear…" Aleister pleaded with an increasingly impatient Twilight to not go back indoors on him.
She folded her arms and waited for him to continue.
"What do you think about seducing Samuel to our side? He seemed hesitant about that whole plan, he clearly likes you, and I'm pretty sure you like him too."
"I do."
"Oh I…" Aleister blinked. "I didn't think you'd readily admit it like that…"
"Because I had to spend two months with four of the most inane grade-school crushes going around while no one acted on them at all." Twilight growled. "I'm not about to repeat that fiasco."
"Then why not let him know you like him?"
"Because he's playing a better game when he thinks he still needs to impress me. Trust me Aleister, we're better off not trying to influence Samuel right now. He'll come over on his own if we let him. Let's not risk pushing him away."
Location: Macabre Mummies Campsite
Contestant(s): Azami, Daniel, Lena, Lucien, Tori
"Even when she's asleep, she's loud…" Daniel complained as Azami snored away in the shelter while he, Tori, and Lucien sat around their fire pit, and Lena repaired any damage the heavy storm had done to the structure.
"Why did you even choose her, dude?" Lucien groaned as he ran hands down his face. "She hasn't really helped us at all since we got her."
"You three really want to know the reason I chose her?" Daniel looked at Lucien, Tori, and even Lena, who crossed her arms.
"I don't fucking give a shit about your reasons for anything. Unless I see you pulling your weight like when we all had to carry that panther, I'm going to keep voting for you until you're finally gone."
"Whatever." Daniel rolled his eyes. "I assume the rest of you want to know?"
Tori and Lucien both nodded eagerly.
Daniel pointed to Azami's bag.
"Oho…" Lucien smirked as Tori pulled out a tiki.
"The Demon Tiki...she has it?" She crossed her arms. "Didn't seem like the type to look…"
"That's probably why she has it." Daniel half-lied. "No one ever thought she would look for one, so naturally it just sort of fell into her lap."
Confessional: Daniel: The Macabre Mummies
"Now...I decided who to give which tiki to based on one thing alone, who would I most want on this team if theirs was to lose that mud-sledding challenge. I figured Kyle from the Banshees, because despite his...disposition, he'd be a powerhouse that we're sorely lacking. Aleister from the Vampires, because he, of the remaining returns, seems to have the least strategic mind, and we all know how our team feels about returns. Finally Azami, because not only should she help athletically, but as I thought, she and Lena hate each other, and Azami would likely never even think to use her tiki, that or she'd waste it. That's another common thing. I gave the tikis to the people I thought would be most likely to mis-play or ignore them. Aleister leaving his on Weliweli is proof enough of that I think."
End Confessional
When Azami did finally wake up, the rest of her team had all left to go about their day of island exploring and she was alone at the campsite.
"OH OKAY!" She shouted out at the island. "FINE THEN, I GUESS I'LL BE THE ONLY PERSON TO TEND TO THE FIRE BECAUSE I'M NOT A LOSER!"
Confessional: Azami: The Macabre Mummies
"I mean REALLY! What in the actual HECK? They didn't even WAKE me or ANYTHING!"
End Confessional
Azami prodded the fire with a stick, and declared victory whenever she got it to flare up with life. This continued for some time until Lena returned with berries for herself and no one else.
"So…" She grunted. "You've got the Demon Tiki huh?"
"The WHAT?!" Azami looked over her person, and in her bag before finally noticing the Demon Tiki.
"OH!"
Lena plugged her ears. "I just wanted to ask if you got it before or after the Demons dissolved, but fuck, your voice is too goddamn loud and annoying, nevermind."
"I don't need a TIKI!" Azami very clearly had no idea that she had even been handed one and tossed it into the campfire.
"What the actual fuck?!" Lena quickly reached a hand in and pulled it back out. "Look, I might only have one target right now, but you can bet both Tori and Lucien are going to vote your annoying ass out the second we lose a challenge, are you really going to throw this thing away?"
"Uh, YEAH? Because we're not GOING to lose, as long as you LOSERS listen to what I say!" Azami stood defiantly.
"Whatever…" Lena wrapped the bottom of her shirt around her hands and walked off along with the tiki.
Confessional: Lena: The Macabre Mummies
"If Miss Yells-a-lot thinks she's above this tiki, I might as well use it to score some points with a Demon who doesn't think that way. I get they're on a different team entirely, but from how Tweedle Tori and Tweedle Idiot have been lately, they might still be more effective as an ally than the ones I have now."
End Confessional
Location: Bloody Banshees Cabin
Contestant(s): Freya, Jaime, Kaden, Kyle, Sherwood
"And you're sure this will work?" Kyle asked as Kaden took some extra fishing rope and set up the contraption on the boys' side of the cabin.
"Pick up that end, and I'll show you." Kaden nodded as Kyle picked up one emptied paint can.
Kaden picked up the other and spoke into it.
"Ancient telephone."
"HO-" Kyle stopped himself from getting too loud. "I can't believe it actually works!"
Sherwood picked up and listened in as well, nodding with amusement as Kaden repeated the trick.
"You gotta know the right way to set it up, but thankfully, I know that way. Family secret."
Confessional: Sherwood: The Bloody Banshees
"I'm in...a peculiar position right now on this team. Because boy, do we have a divide. First, the obvious one of Freya and Kyle and Kaden and Jaime, but there's also myself and Freya as returns to consider, or that Freya and Jaime are two females in a team with three males. On paper, it looks like Freya has control of the team again but...I suppose if there was a time to make my move and distance myself from them entirely, it would be now, while I have what appears to be the teacup vote. I say teacup because it could go in all sorts of directions depending on what happens rather than just a swing, going one of two ways."
End Confessional
Confessional: Kaden: The Bloody Banshees
"Things are...looking pretty up actually! Sure, losing Aubrey was pretty tragic, but whatever happened to Freya on Weliweli seems to be for the better since she really hasn't caused any sort of stir since beach bowling's big one. Now, do I trust her? Hellll no. Her ass is gone as soon as I can help it, but like I said back at Po'ino, I'll give credit where it's due. I don't know why I specifically feel safe right now, I am a Demon on this Banshee team after all, but Kyle seems to have my back at least and that's more than I can say for Jaime. Her personality doesn't exactly lend her to making friends very well. I guess it sucks, but hey, she and Kaleaf spearheaded the whole anti-Azami movement while doing nothing around camp so I'm not about to feel that bad if she leaves before me. Even if she is doing a little more work now."
End Confessional
Confessional: Kyle: The Bloody Banshees
"It's been quiet around here for the first time since the game began basically. Part of me thinks something is up, but the rest of me who's been here for the past few weeks, knows that, actually, despite not being entirely unified, our team isn't at war with itself anymore. Hopefully this next challenge will give us a chance to give our lovely friends on the Mummies some much needed payback for that dart gun trick Daniel pulled! After we win, I'll play everyone a celebratory song, since I ought to get some practice in while it's not pouring up a storm."
End Confessional
Meanwhile, in the girls' side of the cabin, Freya and Jaime were hard at work following a pilates book.
"This is...so painful…" Jaime huffed.
"It's to help us stay fit." Freya responded. "You don't get a figure like mine, let alone keep it, without exercise."
"And healthy eating habits too I'd assume. Is that why you've stopped pigging out on guys?"
"I was never pigging out to begin with." Freya responded through her stretches. "You don't have to do this with me either."
"Well...I figured I might as well keep an eye on you since you've been unnaturally idle lately."
"Damned if I do, damned if I don't with you people. Starting to regret ever even accepting you Demons into this cabin. I might as well have tried to get Chris to eliminate the lot of you if I knew you'd act like this."
"Come on, you know you deserve it."
"Sure, totally, but I think you know you have no right to be the one serving me my just desserts. You think fish is going to be enough to stop the rest of us from voting you off? I want to see matching performance."
"I had a great plan last time!" Jaime defended.
"Up until you willingly put Kyle in the cabin to keep an eye on me. I know it sounds stupid coming from me Jaime, but you really need to be more trusting that I'll help you out in challenges. Otherwise well…"
Freya hummed as she shifted her stance. "That paranoia will do far more to convince the others to vote for you than I ever could."
Confessional: Freya: The Bloody Banshees
"Oh, for the first time I feel calm here. I've got Kyle and Sherwood, Kyle's got Kaden, no way are Kaden and Jaime about to team up with each other unless it's a vote for me, but I still have three out of five votes. To be perfectly honest, I don't think anyone on this team takes Jaime seriously, and I'd much rather ditch Kaden if I could, but that's not going to happen anytime soon as long as he and Kyle get along."
End Confessional
Confessional: Jaime: The Bloody Banshees
"She's darn right I don't trust her, and I definitely don't trust my fellow Demon whose every other word is 'Azami.' I don't trust her stolen boyfriend or the other return on this team either! Why would I? But she's right...She hasn't been doing anything. Still a bitch, but not actively out to get me...yet, at least. I still don't buy this 'new leaf' thing she's trying to sell."
End Confessional
*BEEEEEP*
"Attention campers!" Chris announced over the loudspeakers as the two girls looked up at the ceiling. "Everyone should report to the summit of Mt. Immolate on the double! Iiiit's Curse Time!"
"Curse Time…" Jaime's eyes narrowed.
"Not Challenge Time…" Freya shared a suspicious exchange of glances as they walked out of the cabin and reunited with the boys.
"I don't like the sound of that announcement one bit." Kaden shook his head as Sherwood looked out to the mountain in contemplation and Kyle took Freya's hand.
"Whatever it is, waiting down here won't do us any good."
Location: Mt. Immolate Summit
Contestant(s): All Remaining
"Welcome, all 15 of you!" Chris smiled. "I hope you're all enjoying the nice weather, because it's not going to last very long, last Chef heard, we're going to get a big one in a few days!"
"Ugh, I just finished repairing that fucking shelter too." Lena groaned. "Dammit, McClean why are you even hosting a show during the rainy season?"
"Because look at how dramatic this is!" Chris took out his phone and showed them a clip of Isaac's elimination speech during the thunderstorm. "Can the dry season do that? No! Besides, if I were you Lena, I wouldn't get too attached to that shelter…"
"It's not that bad, you asshat! It's nice and sturdy enough to weather multiple of the storms we've already fucking dealt with!"
"Oh, I'm not talking about the quality, I'm talking about the Curse!" Chris held out a bag.
"In here are color coded bandanas, blue, red, yellow, green, and white. For this one week only...There will be FIVE teams of three competing in the challenge! And, once you get into them, you'll be heading to designated neutral campsites around the island!"
"Just for this week, huh?" Tori rocked her head. "Alright!" She smiled. "Hit me with my two new best friends, Chris!"
She reached into the bag and the other contestants followed suit, some more willingly than others.
"Alright!" Chris announced. "We have our groups!
"Wearing Blue we have…Azami, Sherwood, and Tori! For this week only, you...are the Killer Waves!"
"Wearing Red we have...Aleister, Barnard, and Jaime! For this week only, you...are the Raging Flames!"
"Wearing Yellow we have...Antonio, Lena, and Twilight! For this week only, you...are Team Ka Lani!"
"Wearing Green we have...Freya, Lucien, and Samuel! For this week only, you...are Team Honua!"
"Finally, wearing White we have...Daniel, Kaden, and Kyle! For this week only, you...are The Screaming Winds!"
Chris looked over the new groups of three with pride. "Seeing a lot of mix-up amongst you, good, good! That'll make the challenge more fun when it comes, but for now...Azami, Aleister, Antonio, Freya, Daniel, the five of you have maps to your teams' new campsites, go ahead and lead them there so you can get settled! The challenge is tomorrow!"
Confessional: Sherwood: The Killer Waves
"Normally, I wouldn't mind being with the two I've been partnered with...but the name of our team is quite discouraging given its track record."
End Confessional
Confessional: Twilight: Ka Lani
"Well, I gotta say...I like my setup here! Splotch and I have Lena on our side so one of the biggest challenge threats is taken out of the picture, and if we do lose, we're two Vampires who can vote her off. Ka Lani's looking pretty neat right about now!"
End Confessional
Confessional: Freya: Honua
"I like to think I'd have been put on Honua if I was a Nui Kaua contestant, but I'm not too keen on my partners right now. Samuel's one of the few non-Banshee's I've made an enemy of, and Lucien is well...Lucien…Not the most reliable screws in his head if you get my drift"
End Confessional
Confessional: Kyle: The Screaming Winds
"No way Chris chose these names on a lark. I bet they have something to do with the challenge later, so I'm going to make it a point to bring Daniel and Kaden as up to speed on The Screaming Winds team as I possibly can.
End Confessional
Confessional: Aleister: The Raging Flames
"Very amusing Chris, naming these temporary teams of three after Zero Sum and Nui Kaua. Of course, you've named us after the best performing one, so naturally, immunity will follow. These two demons have nothing to worry about."
End Confessional
Location: Killer Waves Campsite
Contestant(s): Azami, Sherwood, Tori
"So Mr. Banshee…" Tori smiled as she started the fire while Azami and Sherwood set to work on their shelter. "You have any fun stories to share with us about what's been going on with you guys since the twins left? I know they say no news is good news but…"
"No clue." Sherwood spoke firmly, carefully only using words with single syllables.
"Ah, you haven't made a single friend since the last time we talked?"
"No."
Location: Raging Flames Campsite
Contestant(s): Aleister, Barnard, Jaime
"Okay, we might have hit the jackpot here…" Barnard whispered to Jaime as they worked on the shelter while Aleister tended the fire. "I mean, hopefully we win, but even if we lose...the non-Demon return, that's an easy out for us right there."
"We don't even have to worry about a Vampire Tiki since Molly already wasted it." Jaime nodded back to him in agreement of the plan.
"Let's see…" Aleister tested his historical knowledge. "There was Kaede obviously, and Helen...and Peter...and who were the other three? I think...Conlan? Yeah he was one, but those last two…"
Location: Ka Lani Campsite
Contestant(s): Antonio, Lena, Twilight
Antonio tended the fire and watched in awe as Lena and Twilight effortlessly constructed a shelter as though the both were part of a single entity.
"You guys been practicing in secret or something?" He asked with a laugh.
"I'm the only Mummy that even really knows how to make one." Lena responded. "Nice to have someone who knows what they're doing helping out though."
"Right back at you." Twilight smirked as neither even paused their task for conversation.
Location: Honua Campsite
Contestant(s): Freya, Lucien, Samuel
"Looking good boys!" Freya called out from the fire she was tending to encourage the pair. "Take a break and conserve your energy, we'll probably need it!"
"Gotta say, I thought having you as a teammate would be a death sentence." Samuel shrugged as he sat by the fire and took one of the seared fish on skewers. "But whatever's gotten into you, I like it."
"Well, normally I wouldn't be quite so accommodating, but seeing as how we're a team of two."
"Hey, come on." Lucien frowned.
"Two and a half." Freya corrected.
"Thank you." Lucien beamed, content.
"Seeing as how we're a team of two and a half, I'll put up with the rough life...It's only a week before I can go back to that nice cabin anyways."
Location: The Screaming Winds Campsite
Contestant(s): Daniel, Kaden, Kyle
Kaden listened on intently while Daniel begrudgingly gave his attention to Kyle explaining everything he knew off-hand of the original Screaming Winds team.
"And you really think the names have something to do with the challenge?" Kaden pondered.
"I say it's equally possible Chris is just being lazy." Daniel shrugged.
"Well, the only way to find our for sure would be to learn what the challenge is." Kyle replied. "And we probably won't have that answer until the time of the actual challenge. Until then, the best we can do is try and be as prepared as possible."
Time: The Next Morning
Locations: All Team Campsites
Contestants: All Remaining
"Up and attem!" Chris's voice blared over the loudspeakers, rousing all the remaining players from their slumber. "Your challenge starts NOW! Each member of your team has a slip of paper with an item written on it, and there is exactly *one* of that item that we've hidden somewhere on this island, Kokoke, or even Weliweli! It's your job to find all three of your team's items and bring them back to me atop Mt. Immolate! The last trio to complete the task joins me at Po'ino for elimination!
Challenge: Specific Scavengers
The Five Teams must find the items written on each of their members' pieces of paper and bring them back to Chris atop Mt. Immolate. Other than the name of the item and a rough sketch of the area it can be located, the contestants have no hints. The items can be grabbed in any order and returned to Chris as they are found or all at once. As long as the player returning the item also holds the note to signify they needed to find it, it doesn't matter who hands the item to Chris. The final trio to complete the challenge joins Chris at the Po'ino Bonfire Elimination Ceremony.

Location: Nui Kaua Bridge
Contestant(s): Aleister, Antonio, Barnard, Freya, Lucien
"Go, go go!" Barnard quickly sent Aleister further head towards the canoe moored beneath one of the arches as the two reached the base of the Nui Kaua Bridge.
"I know, I know!" Aleister replied as he zoomed ahead to see Freya and Lucien both coming from the opposite direction.
"There!" Freya pointed to the canoe. "Come on, we've got to get in that canoe before he takes off!"
"Always down for a pleasant...boat ride…" Lucien panted. "But can...we...slow down a bit…?"
"Barnard." Antonio noticed Barnard searching throughout the bridge. "Do you want….assistance?"
"Shouldn't you be worried about finding whatever it is that you're supposed to be finding?" Barnard asked.
Antonio pointed towards the nearby bonfire pit. "It's there...I have time...you aren't...scared are you?"
His lips cracked into a smile.
"I'd rather not risk someone from another team taking what I'm looking for before I can find it…" Barnard responded without looking back at Antonio.
"I see…" Antonio sighed. "But we are both Vampires….aren't we, Barnard? We're lucky too, we each were put in teams with a fellow Vampire. That way even if either one of us should lose, our team will stay five strong going forward."
"Y-yeah…" Barnard bit his lip as he realized for the first time exactly how much voting power he really had on this team of three he'd been placed on. Surely Aleister and Jaime would vote for each other, and that made him…
Confessional: Barnard: The Raging Flames
"It appears...I've been granted a swing vote on this team if we lose. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather avoid elimination altogether, but for all my talk about returns, Aleister is still part of the Vampires, and if I can keep the whole team afloat, well...that'd look really good going into a merge, which has to be coming up soon considering how close we are to half-cast, and most merges come a little before then. Hmmm…"
End Confessional.
"Of course, but let's avoid any Vampires losing by first securing our victories, and then helping Samuel's team with theirs." Barnard finally responded as he caught sight of a single wooden sandal wedged in between two stone bricks.
Meanwhile, Freya and Lucien had managed to catch up to Aleister's canoe before he could properly paddle off and now the three of them all sat awkwardly as their boat shifted between aiming towards the Kokoke and Weliweli islands.
"Lucien, come on!" Freya snapped. "A little help moving it towards Kokoke!"
"N-no!" Aleister grunted as he fought for steering control with the other oar. "Weliweli first! You two can head to Kokoke later!"
"Kokoke is closer!"
"If you don't let me go to Weliweli, Barnard and I will vote Jaime off and you Banshees will only have four left!"
"Go ahead, like I care about either of the Demons!"
"Well…" Lucien sighed. "I did pick the most physically or strategically competent players for the Demons, so it would make sense to get rid of them now before they can be a threat in the merge...But well…I guess it would make sense to get rid of the returns at this point too. No offense to you guys of course."
Freya and Aleister both gave Lucien curious glares.
Confessional: Aleister: The Raging Flames
"My season had both Briand and Maddie in it, so I'm fairly sure I know what pure idiocy looks like. That wasn't it."
End Confessional
Confessional: Freya: Honua
"I hold a special hatred in my heart for hot blonde boys using facades to mask their hidden agendas. I don't care what he has planned, Luci's moving over from my list of idiots that I should ignore to my list of dangerous players that I should avoid unless I know I can beat them."
End Confessional
Confessional: Lucien: Honua
"I might've been a little too obvious there...but it's fine. Aleister isn't known for strategic thinking so no one will really take him seriously, and Freya seems to have been placed under some kind of theatrics embargo. What really matters…" Lucien stops and looks over his hands.
"Wooow….have you guys ever just, like...thought about how creepy fingers can be sometimes? Like a whole bunch of little legs…"
End Confessional
Location: Bloody Banshees Cabin
Contestant(s): Daniel, Kaden, Kyle, Lena
"What the fuck?" Lena mumbled to herself as she saw Daniel, Kaden, and Kyle all pile into the Banshees Cabin. "What the fuck ever, if those two want to invite that whiny bastard over for some sausage fest, far be it from me to deal with that shit. Now...I think that clearing is to the north of here somewhere…"
Confessional: Lena: Ka Lani
"I have to find a guitar pick. A fucking tiny-ass guitar pick in a goddamn forest clearing! Oh, yeah, great search radius, McClean, you fucking psychopath! Meanwhile Antonio gets to just sit at a bonfire pit for a few minutes, this is fucking ridiculous."
End Confessional
Inside the cabin, Daniel waited apathetically as Kaden and Kyle looked around the boys' side of the cabin to no success.
"Looks like it's not here." Kaden shrugged as he clutched his already found makeshift fishing spear.
"Then check the girls' side and if it's not there we'll move on." Daniel yawned.
"W-well…" Kaden went red. "I don't think I'd feel right just, um, invading their privacy like that…"
"Figures." Daniel rolled his eyes as he walked across the cabin porch to the girls' end and strode through the door.
"H-hey, wait a minute!" Kyle and Kaden ran after him.
"It's bad form to just barge into some…huh…"
Confessional: Kyle: The Screaming Winds
"It wasn't that we saw anything disillusioning or private or anything like that, it was the fact that the entire place was freshly cleaned, like, someone had just been there sweeping and mopping and dusting and everything, every single one of the beds had been made too. Considering neither Freya nor Jaime could have done this since every player was in a neutral campsite last night...I can only reach one conclusion."
End Confessional
"This might be the last challenge before the merge." Kaden pondered the thought that had popped into both Daniel's and Kyle's heads as well.
"Merging at 14? Seems a little..large...but I guess it's not unheard of on these kinds of shows. Survivor does it fairly often. Total Dama though…"
"I'm sure there's a significant reason behind this." Daniel sighed. "Anyways, don't you have a coat to go find in the Vampire Cottage since it's clearly not here?"
"R-right, completing the challenge comes first, yes."
Confessional: Daniel: The Screaming Winds
"I don't say this often, but I like my chances on this team. I can decide whether we win or lose, and I can be sure I won't go home, while also getting rid of one of two athletic threats. And considering their buddy comedy routine is making me sick to my stomach, that plan is looking more and more like an option to consider. Shame neither one is a Vampire, because that team's unity bothers me too."

Location: Weliweli Island
Contestant(s): Aleister, Freya, Lucien, Samuel
"Oh…." Freya bit her lip as the canoe arrived on the Weliweli shore where an anchor lay out in the open sand. "I was sure it would've been on Kokoke…"
"Wait..that?" Aleister's eyes widened as he strolled over to where a trilby hat was propped up among some dead trees and grabbed the headwear. "How does anyone expect you to haul an anchor in a canoe?"
As if by providence, Samuel quickly arrived at Weliweli in what appeared to be a paddleboat, though he'd somehow set up a motor powered by a car battery as the octopus-shaped toy boat beached itself on the island.
"Oh good, okay, I got here in time!" He grinned as he held up a copy of the necronomicon.
"Freya, Lucien, put the anchor in here! It's probably a lighter one, like, 70ish pounds or so."
"That's still pretty heavy…" Lucien whistled.
"It's fine." Freya spoke bluntly. "I'll take Samuel's death trap back to the main island, Samuel, you and Lucien take the canoe to Kokoke, he still needs his thing."
"W-wait, what about me?" Aleister asked as the three Honua members got in their boats.
"Like I said last time we were here…" Freya shrugged after getting the motored boat back into the water. "I don't need you…"
She turned to get into the motor boat as Lucien and Samuel paddled off in the canoe, but stopped before she got on.
She stomped her heel in the sand and turned back around to face Aleister.
"But my teammate Jaime does, and the only one allowed to vote any Banshees off is me. So if you promise to not try your piss poor attempts at flirting, you can come with me."
Aleister's eyes lit up with an excited nod as he hopped into the boat.
"Ah, you're the best, thanks for helping a fellow return out!"
"I just said I wasn't doing it for you! I'm thinking about the Banshees here!"
Location: Kahakai Beach
Contestant(s): Aleister, Azami, Freya, Sherwood, Tori
"Thanks again for the ride!" Aleister beamed at Freya who audibly groaned in irritation as he ran up towards Mt. Immolate.
"HEY!" Azami shouted to Freya. "As long as your helping other LOSER returns, mind helping your TEAMMATE, find his THING!"
Freya turned to see Sherwood and Tori combing a large bed of coals.
"Ugh.." Freya rolled her eyes as she pulled her anchor out of the makeshift motor boat. "What are we looking for?"
"Hair gel bottle." Sherwood replied.
"It's the last item we need too." Tori sighed. "And after we found the others and returned them so quickly.."
"Argh…" Freya groaned as she dragged the anchor along the sand towards the coal bed.
"I can't believe you guys, it's literally right here." She pointed to a horribly singed and entirely empty hair gel bottle. "What were you looking for, a clean full bottle or something?"
"Eheh…" Tori laughed nervously at the correct guess.
"Alright, now COME ON!" Azami started shoving Sherwood towards the mountain. "GO! GET US IMMUNITY and be GOOD for ONCE!"
"S-sorry about her…" Tori apologized. "Want any help with that anchor?"
"What?" Freya blinked. "But...we aren't even on the same team normally."
"No, but...well I suppose one good turn deserves another don't you?"
Confessional: Tori: The Killer Waves
"And, sincere as that was, I also have too much time invested in watching Luci's game to let him be on the chopping block just yet."

"And with that both Team Ka Lani and The Killer Waves are safe!" Chris announced as Sherwood handed the hair gel bottle off to the host and he and Azami joined Twilight, Lena, and Antonio in the winners' celebration.
"Come on, Daniel, they've got to be around there somewhere!" Kyle called to where Daniel was pretending to search for glasses on the soot-covered trail to the summit, while hiding the item he'd already found in his pocket.
"Are you sure you don't want our help?" Kaden asked, concerned.
"Look, help if you guys want, but know that I never asked for it." Daniel responded as apathetically as he could.
Confessional: Daniel: The Screaming Winds
"I need to know which team is going to the elimination ceremony if it's not mine before I make any final decision."
End Confessional
"Remember…" Chris announced as the remaining teams and players began to walk and jog up the volcano. "It doesn't matter who hands the item off as long as they also have the slip of paper to prove it's their item!"
"Dude, this is, bad...and I mean really bad…" Kaden shared his worry with Kyle as they both began to join Daniel in looking for the glasses they were doomed to never find. "Banshees on all three vulnerable teams right now…"
"Yeah, I don't suppose Jaime has a tiki to keep her safe?" Kyle asked hopefully.
"Zilch as far as I know." Kaden replied. "And come on, no way Freya hasn't gotten her hands on one somehow after that scare for her last elimination."
"Yeah I have a feeling if she loses, she'll still be fine. She has that kind of luck." Kyle faux agreed, though not without getting Daniel's attention.
Confessional: Daniel: The Screaming Winds
"I know Kyle has that Banshee tiki. If he'll give it to Freya if Honua loses, then I'd rather Honua not lose. She's the one I'd like gone the most on that team, and there's no point in risking a Mummy's safety if her departure is an impossibility. That leaves me with the Flames...or the Winds...hmmm…"
End Confessional
"Go help your girlfriend, Kyle, I know you want to." Daniel droned out in monotone. "That anchor looks heavy even for both of them."
"But-" Kyle wanted to keep looking for the glasses.
Confessional: Kyle: The Screaming Winds
"I don't know why this is so hard! These are clearly the same kind of glasses Hubert from Zero Sum wore, and considering how much that season showed him on camera, I'm pretty confident in what they look like! Kaden on the other hand...he's less confident and stronger than me physically."
End Confessional
"Kaden!" Kyle pleaded.
"Do I have to help-"
"There!" Lucien and Samuel reached Chris and handed over their items.
"It looks like Honua only needs their anchor left!" Chris smiled as he called down the trail.
"But it looks like the final Raging Flames member is making her way up the mountain too!"
"Come on." Sherwood pat Kaden's shoulder as he strolled down the mountain. "My team might still have been vulnerable if it weren't for her help, and she seemed to have actively helped The Flames too."
"I can't believe my ears." Kaden sighed even as he followed suit, leaving a now proudly smiling Kyle to search for the hidden glasses with Daniel.
"Don't look happy, we're losing." Daniel's eyes narrowed at Kyle.
"Can't help it, sorry. Just happy she's pushing herself."
"Disgusting." Daniel rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh.
Just enough of a sigh for glare to catch in his pocket, and Kyle noticed it.
"Daniel.."
He stood up and walked over to his temporary teammate.
"What's in your pocket?"
Daniel clicked his tongue and ran through possible scenarios in his mind before deciding on a play and making his move.
He stood up, and revealed the glasses. "You caught me." He sighed.
"I'm wasting time. I want to see which of those two teams will lose if we win. At first I thought it was looking like Honua but now that Freya has a small army helping her carry that anchor, it could go either way."
"And if it's the Flames that lose you'll, what, let us win?"
"Maybe." Daniel sighed. "But.." He held up the slip of paper that was required to complete the challenge. "You've been getting on my nerves lately. This rehabilitation you're putting your girlfriend through, ugh it's so sappy it makes me sick. I'm starting to regret giving you your tiki. So I'll tell you what...you throw that tiki down into the lava, and I won't rip this piece of paper to shreds."
"You're bluffing." Kyle stepped forward.
"I don't bluff." Daniel began to tear the paper, causing Kyle to stop.
"Kaden and I can just vote you out."
"I. Don't. Bluff." Daniel repeated himself.
"You have the Mummy Tiki."
"Go on Kyle, make your choice. Toss the tiki in the volcano, or subject yourself to an even more torturous decision at elimination. It doesn't look like you have much time though, because the very second that anchor reaches Chris, it'll be just us and the Flames left, and Jaime is only seconds behind Honua."
Kyle took out his tiki, earning the stares of the other contestants, who were close enough to see, but not to hear the conversation going on.
He turned towards the chasm behind him and looked down at the bubbling magma far below.
He looked at the tiki, and at Daniel, who was slowly making his way over to Chris and giving Kyle nods.
"Crap…" He held back stressful tears. "Is there really no other way out of this one?"
Confessional: Kyle: The Screaming Winds
"Please understand, this isn't about some greedy thing like wanting a free immunity in my pocket. I have way more to consider. There's the example I'd be setting for Freya if I go through with this when every fiber in my being is telling me not to let this little chump have his way. I'm not sure how I'd sleep at night if that happened. But it's not just her to consider...if I throw the tiki away, am I not condemning Jaime by securing our victory? No way are she and Barnard close enough to ally against Aleister if they lose, no those Vampires are going to vote her off easy. But if I keep the tiki, what will happen to Kaden? Gahhh…I can't believe I thought these sunny days would be better than the stormy ones, this is killing me!"
End Confessional
Freya and her helpers, along with Jaime, arrived just in time to see Kyle slump to the ground, fighting back tears to little success, followed by Daniel nonchalantly shredding his paper in two.
"Like I said…" He sighed. "I don't bluff."
"And with that…" Chris announced as Freya and Jaime handed off their items. "We have our losers! The Screaming Winds! Daniel, Kaden, Kyle, you three will be joining me at Po'ino Bonfire later tonight!"
"Kyle!" Freya and Kaden both rushed up to Kyle as they saw the state he was in, followed by a somewhat concerned Sherwood at a distance.
"I'm sorry Kaden…" He wheezed out. "I tried, I did...I'm sorry…I'm sorry"
"Hey, hey…" Kaden tried his best to calm Kyle down, unaware of what was going on. "You tried your best yeah, gave it your all?"
"I'm so sorry…" He kept repeating.
Lena, seeing the scene created, glared daggers at Daniel, who looked back at her unflinchingly, before he turned to head down the mountain.
Confessional: Lena: Ka Lani
"I have no idea what that little shit said, but I do know that Kyle's got the Banshee Tiki, so I think I found the perfect candidate for the Demon Tiki that Azami refused. Time to flush that fucking shitstain off this island for good!"

"And...what exactly are the rest of us doing here?" Twilight crossed her arms as she looked around at the entire competition Chris had assembled.
"Oh, tonight's elimination is very important." Chris nodded with a wry smile. "So I thought it was only fair that everyone got a chance to see it play out!"
"Like it'll be that big a deal." Freya rolled her eyes. "Two Banshees after all."
"I wouldn't be so sure there, that little shit is sneaky." Lena did not let her glare move from Daniel, who in turn did not shy away from her stare.

"OH MY GOSH, GET ON WITH THE ELIMINATION ALREADY SO ONE OF THOSE LOSERS CAN BE SENT HOME…"

"Let's avoid the cloaks and daggers tonight, shall we?" Daniel finally sighed as he took out the Mummy Tiki.
"Chris, there's no rule against playing this right now is there? Or do I actually have to wait for people to waste their votes?"
"Hmm…" Chris thought to himself. "Not sure why you'd give up that advantage but sure, feel free to play a tiki before the vote if you think it's better that way."
"Nah, I'll wait. Just wanted to confirm it was possible. In any case, I'll play it at the normal time.
Oh, and by the way, my vote is for Kyle. And since Kaden has to vote for Kyle too if he doesn't want his vote wasted...well, there's really only one thing Kyle can do isn't there?"
"Play this tiki and condemn Kaden to stay in the game, yes, I know." Kyle sighed dejected as he pulled out the Banshee Tiki.
"And I guess that would mean I'm out then, huh?" Kaden asked.
"WHAT?!" Azami looked around nervously at the other contestants.
"WELL? ONE OF YOU DO SOMETHING!"
"Calm down, beautiful" Kaden smirked. "Someone did do something."
He brought out the Demon Tiki.
Daniel's eyes widened, but quickly regained their apathetic gaze.
"W-well...uh…" Chris looked at the rest of the campers nervously.
"T-this wasn't what I meant when I wanted you to see the elimination but...ta-daaah...all three tikis still in play!"
"Wait, what happens now?" Tori pondered aloud. "If all three of them play their tikis, no one is even eligible to be eliminated…"
"If all three of them play their tikis, then would the second last team take their spots?" Barnard asked.
"Let's see how it all plays out first…" Chris chuckled nervously. "Daniel, Kaden, Kyle, go ahead and cast your votes in that order while I make a teeeeeeeeny call to corporate, hehehehhh…"
Daniel sighed as he walked up to the voting podium, and wrote down Kyle's name just as he said he would, then came back.
Kaden stood up and patted Kyle on the shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll find a way out of this...somehow…"
"It's not looking as bad as it was this afternoon at least…" Kyle sighed as some life began to return to his eyes with the knowledge that Kaden had a tiki of his own.
After Kaden came back from voting, Kyle went up and cast his own ballot.
"Kyle…" Freya gave a worried frown. "You're going to be alright right? You're going to be safe, right?"
"Everything will be fine." Kyle smiled back. "I'm sure Chris is going to come back with good news any minute."
A few minutes passed.
"Wow, it's been a while. Is he still on that phone call?" Samuel asked.
"I guess he must be." Jaime scratched her head.
A few more minutes passed, and the Horror Hearse drove up to the pit.
"What's taking so long?!" Chef growled from the driver's seat. "This hunk o' junk reeks!"
"Chris is on the phone with corporate, probably because of all three vulnerable players holding tikis." Tori responded.
"Or maybe they're talking about how kickass the constellations are when you can see them." Lucien looked up at the sky.
"Sorry, sorry about that!" Chris returned. "Anyways, I'll go tally the votes!"
"He seems to be in a good enough mood." Aleister shrugged.
Sherwood nodded in agreement.
"Come on, man!" Chef complained to Chris. "Ya' can't leave me in this rustbucket for this long, it's startin' to smell!"
"Didn't we get more freshener, like yesterday?" Chris asked, prompting a small bickering session while the cast all stood or sat around awkwardly until Chris finally returned with a plate of two crystal balls.
"Alright, I've tallied the votes. The camper with the most votes has to leave, you should all know this by now, right? Right? Okay, good! Now then, if you have an immunity tiki, and would like to play it, now would be the time to do so. However…"
Chris paused. "If all three of you play your tikis, while you will all be safe, the rest of the cast will have to draw rocks from this bag!" He held up a small burlap sack. "There is only one painted rock in this bag, and whoever draws it will be eliminated in place of the lot of you."
Kaden and Kyle looked at each other nervously as Daniel without any hesitation, stood to play his tiki.
"Looks like Daniel doesn't seem to mind."
"I fucking mind!" Lena shouted. "I don't want to be randomly eliminated after winning a challenge!"
"Yes, feel that hate flow through you!" Chris laughed as the majority of the contestants began making a fuss over the decision while he turned back to Kaden and Kyle.
"Either of you guys feel like playing your tikis?"
"Kyle, play it!" Freya called. "Random draw is awful, but it might be a Vampire!"
"It might be you, Sherwood, or Jaime!" Kyle called back.
"KADEN!" Azami shouted. "If you LOSE on me, I swear I'll never forgive you! PLAY IT!"
"But...If we go random...you might-"
"Five…." Chris began.
"Four…."
"Kyle you don't need to prove yourself to any of us, just play the damn tiki!" Freya snapped.
"Three…"
"Kaden…." Azami went quiet as her eyes began to water. She looked back up at him. "Please...don't leave me all alone here…"
"Two…"
Kaden stood up and handed Chris his tiki before Azami rushed him in a hug.
"One…"
Kyle stood up.
He placed the tiki in Freya's hands.
"Zero!" Chris announced.
"W-why…" Tears began to run down Freya's face.
"You made me proud this week…" Kyle laughed somewhat to himself. "And just like you...I want my fellow Banshees to be safe. Take it…" He kissed her on the forehead. "And be good."
All she could do was stand there, dumbfounded, mouth agape, as her tears continued to fall.
"Because Kyle is the only one eligible to be eliminated…" Chris announced. "He is eliminated. But this is not the last any of you will see of him."
Chris snickered.
"Because Kyle...is the very first member of the Total Drama Jury. He will be present at every elimination ceremony from here on out, learning what's been going on in his absence, and it will all come to a head when he will get to cast his own vote for the ultimate winner of the season!"
"Jury?"
"A Jury?"
"JURY?!"
"A fucking Jury?"
"Well now…" Kyle managed a smile. "Looks like I've got some power left in me after all!"
"As for the rest of you…" Chris turned to the fourteen remaining campers.
"Congratulations...you're all safe...For now. Go back to your temporary campsites, and be prepared for next week's curse to turn the game on its head."
"It really is stuffy in here…" Kyle noted as he lay down in the Coffin of Shame, before being carted off under the starry night sky.
"And with that, Kyle becomes the very first member of our grand jury!" Chris turned the camera. "What awaits our remaining players as the merge approaches? Find out next time!
On Total Drama Nui Kaua!
The Cursed!
Island!"
*Kyle's Final Confessional:
"So, I knew the second Kaden took out that tiki that there was only one way it was going to end for me, but I've learned a lot in my time on this show, and on the Banshees in particular, and they might be returns, but I know first hand how hard both Freya and Sherwood are working, so out of bias for the team I was placed on, their my new favors to win. Kaden is following close behind of course. Now, then...I've been practicing a song recently that I'd kind of like to play as a sort of one last goodbye so *ahem*, without further ado…"
Kyle begins to strum on his guitar.
"If a melody is like a memory
You're a long hot summer night symphony
Blaring on the speakers of my Monte Carlo
Down FM 109 on my FM Radio
We could take it slow
Put it on cruise control
You know it's been a while
We're never going outta style
I was thinking, while the sun is sinking, low we could go all night
Never going outta style in my Chevy, parking at the levy
Getting hot and heavy after all this time
The trends will come and go
The winds of change will blow
The way we love is never going outta style singing
Rebel rebel at the top of our lungs
Out of town windows down playing those dashboard drums
Everybody said you'd never make it too far
With some poor boy playing on some pawn shop guitar
You know my crazy dreams
Were busting at the seams
Just like these old boots and jeans
We're never going outta style
I was thinking, while the sun is sinking, low we could go all night
Never going outta style in my Chevy, parking at the levy
Getting hot and heavy after all this time
The trends will come and go
The winds of change will blow
The way we love is never going, never going outta style
We're never going outta style!"
Kyle breaks the lyrics for a short guitar solo before eventually returning to singing after the bridge.
"I'll pop my collar do my best James Dean
We'll hit the road like a Steve McQueen movie scene
Show me your million dollar Marilyn smile
And I'll show you a love love love
That's never going outta style
I was thinking, while the sun is sinking, low we could go all night
Never going outta style in my Chevy, parking at the levy
Getting hot and heavy after all this time
The trends will come and go
The winds of change will blow
The way we love is never going outta style
We could take it slow
Put it on cruise control
The way we love is never going outta style
Never going outta style
(I was thinking, while the sun is sinking, low we could go all night)
We're never going outta style
(In my Chevy, parking at the levy
Getting hot and heavy after all this time)
Never going outta style
We're never going outta style
Yeah, we're never going outta style..."
He sighs as he completes his performance, and looks back into the confessional camera. "And remember, don't let anyone destroy your sense of self! Be good!" And with a wink, the camera fuzzes out.

The Votes for those who are curious
Daniel voted for...Kyle
Kaden voted for...Daniel (Doesn't count)
Kyle voted for...Daniel (Doesn't count)
AN:
Okay.
So.
Holy shit right?
Yeah I thought he was making it farther too, I was banking on like, final 6-4 range if he didn't make it into the final 3, but nope. That's not to say that there was much more to do with him though, as opposed to the other two possible eliminations, but that's not to say that he wasn't a great character. In fact, I'll go on record and say Kyle's probably my favorite male submission to The Cursed Island, maybe even my favorite cast member of the season, based almost entirely on how unflinchingly loyal to his sense of identity he is. He is very much the hero of this story in my book, but, as episode 1 clearly states, heroism is dead here, and the second Kyle was placed on the same team as Daniel, his fate was pretty much sealed.
Having studied his actions throughout the season, Kyle receives the status of: Hero
Now, Kyle played perhaps the most honest game I've ever seen a character play in any Total Drama season, counting not only actual Total Drama and my fics, but also other fics I've read on the site, so that goes a long way. Then there's the fact that he always thought of his team first, before even his own wellbeing, and last but not least, he was pretty heroic throughout this entire episode. I do have more I could talk about with Kyle and heroism, but I would honestly be here all day so I'll leave that to the rest of you.
Kyle's best moment is a little harder to pinpoint I'd say. He had a few nice ones, but the two moments I think will be most memorable of his both involve him being a victim to Freya and Daniel respectively. Still, thanks to 'best' being such a subjective term, I'd say his best moment would be how he reacted to Freya opening up in the previous episode. It really helps drive the point home about his strong sense of identity and as the rest of you can now see, laid the foundation for the conflict between that identity and his safety in the game, and his ultimate forsaking of the latter to keep true to the former.
But that's all just my own opinion. What do you guys think?
Finally, Kyle is now the very first member of the Total Drama Jury. He's made it far enough in the game to be present at every elimination ceremony from here on out. Even if he's not allowed to speak until the very end of the game, he'll still be there reacting to everything that goes on.
Now then, the merge is next! Any guesses for what it's introductory curse will be?
Any thoughts on how the game might change for individual players (I sincerely doubt the Mummies will stick together as an example, and I bet the Vampires aren't truly that united either).
As always, thank you for reading!
