Disclaimer: I do not own Ducktales.

"All right." Fenton said to himself, looking at himself in the mirror. He had gotten home safely after the incident with Manny (the poor guy had somehow caught on fire while testing Gyro's brush). Well, minus a small burn on his cheek, and a slightly bruised beak from being tossed against the wall by the Gizmoduck armor. "It's just a semi-formal coffee date…with Della Duck - my bosses niece…"

"Me hijo?" M'Ma said from outside the bathroom. She gently knocked on the door, making Fenton jump. "Are you all right? You've been in there for hours…"

"I-I'm fine!" Fenton said, brushing back his hair and looking back into the mirror. Did his hair look okay? Well, maybe it could use a little combing… "I'm just - freshening up!"

"For what?" M'Ma asked. Fenton stared at the door in the mirror's reflection. The last time he told her he was going on a date, she'd given him a very formal outfit for a very informal date…Then again, she'd also been there for him when he'd come back from being, more or less, dumped by Gandra Dee...so maybe telling her about his maybe-a-date with Della wouldn't be so bad.

"For a...for coffee with a friend." Fenton said.

"A girl friend or a guy friend?" M'Ma asked. Fenton combed back his hair one last time, and then came out of the bathroom, coming face to face with his M'Ma. She squinted at him, taking in his meticulously combed back hair, the slight smell of a cologne. "Fenton - are you going on another date?"

"Well I wouldn't call it a date, exactly," Fenton said, fiddling with his hands. He was fighting urge to rub the back of his head or run his hand through his hair. "It's just coffee with a friend."

"Mm-hmm," M'Ma said, putting a hand on her hip and leaned to the side. "And I suppose you put on cologne for all your friends…?"

"Er, no," Fenton said, blushing a little. "B-but today's different. There was an accident in the lab - don't worry, I'm fine - and I couldn't scrub the smell of smoke off of me so...I thought some cologne would go well to hide the smell."

"There was an accident?" M'Ma asked, taking Fenton's head in her hands and looking over his face. She found the burn mark almost instantly and let out a gasp. "What happened?! Was there a fire?"

"Sort of," Fenton said, gently taking his mother's hands off his face. "But I took care of it. And everyone's okay."

"If working situations are unsafe at McDuck Enterprises -"

"No, M'Ma - they're perfectly safe," Fenton said, glancing at the clock over on the wall. It was 4:40. "There was just an accident with one of the inventions and - Oh no! I'm going to be late!"

Giving himself a quick once over, he thought his outfit looked pretty semi-formal - just a collared white shirt and brown slacks. Giving his mother a quick hug goodbye, he grabbed the keys to his car, and his bag with the Gizmoduck suit, and dashed out the door.

He was not going to be late for this date.

"Where is he?" Della muttered to herself, pacing back and forth at the front gate to McDuck Manor. It was already 4:51 and she wanted to get out of here before her boys - or anyone else for that matter - saw her. It wasn't like she dressed semi-formally everyday or anything...and it was even rarer when she wore a dress.

Turning to pace in the other direction, she wondered if she was being stood up. She knew this wasn't technically a date, just a coffee thing...but it sure felt like a date.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea," Della said to herself, glancing around. If she hurried, she could still sneak back into the manor and change before anyone was the wiser...but then what if Fenton showed up? "Ugh - why did I even agree to this?"

"Mom?" Dewey's voice interrupted her thoughts. With a gasp, she turned around to see Huey, Louie, Dewey, and Webby heading for the gate. "Are you...wearing a dress?"

"Uuuuuh - no," Della said, running a hand through her hair. She didn't know how she wanted to do her hair up - so she decided to just leave it as it was.

"It sure looks like a dress," Louie said, folding his arms and raising his eyebrows. Della put on what she hoped was a reassuring smile. From the squinting her sons were doing, she suspected that her smile wasn't working… "Are you hiding something from us?"

"You're not going to the moon again, are you?" Dewey gasped out, running up and wrapping his arms around Della. She quickly bent down and gave him a hug.

"No - of course I'm not going back to the moon," Della said.

"Then where are you going?" Louie asked, stepping forward. He gestured at her dress. "I mean - you look like you're going somewhere."

"Not far..." Della said evasively, rubbing the back of her head. She glanced at her watch again - and saw that it was now 4:53. "Where are you all going?"

"We're headed into town," Huey said, nodding towards the gate. "Webby has some library books to return, Louie's getting a newspaper to check the stock market, Dewey needs a new charging cord for his phone - and I need to get some more supplies for the next Woodchuck camp out."

"Really?" Della asked, glancing around. "Are you guys just going to...walk?"

"Well, we would have asked Launch Pad," Webby said, adjusting her backpack. "But today's his day off and we didn't want to wake him up."

"Launch Pad can drive?" Della asked, her eyes widening. She shook her head as her mind wrapped around the concept. "The guy can barely fly a plane without crashing…"

"He's not so bad at driving," Dewey said, going back to his group. "He doesn't crash nearly as much as he does with the Sunchaser."

"Cloudslayer," Della corrected him, leaning against the gate post. "I named it the Cloudslayer - why he named it the Sunchaser - I'll never know."

Webby opened her beak to say something, but before she could a gray car drove up to the driveway, and Fenton stepped out. Della cursed under breathe at Fenton's timing...her sons were just getting used to having her back on Earth - the last thing they needed to know was that she was dating on top of everything else.

"Sorry I'm late," Fenton said, freezing when he saw the Della, Webby, and the triplets. "Oh - am I interrupting something?"

"Ooooh," Webby said, looking between Fenton and Della, her eyes going wide. "No - we were just leaving. Come on guys - we'll miss the bus if we don't hurry."

"I thought we were walking," Huey said, and Dewey nodded.

"The bus is quicker," Webby said, pulling them down the hill at a run. Louie struggled to keep up, throwing one last glance back at his mom and Fenton.

"Um...hi." Della said, forcing herself to look away from the kids and at Fenton. She took in his outfit, and wondered if she'd overdressed. His outfit was casual, yet classy - and here she was dressed in a light green, spaghetti strap dress…

"Hi," Fenton said, smiling at Della. He came towards the gate and opened it a smidge. "Ready to go?"

"Oh - yeah," Della said, letting out a nervous laugh and stepping out of the gate. She was quite nervous right now...it was her first date - or not-date - in a long time...and she'd over dressed...great. "So - where did you want to get coffee?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing," Fenton said, closing the gate behind Della before he rushed to the car and opened the passenger door for her. She blushed as she got in, not used to being treated like a girl. Growing up with Donald, her cousins and Uncle Scrooge - she was often treated like one of the guys.

"I...haven't been back on Earth for all that long," Della admitted. Fenton nodded, looking lost in thought as he closed her door and went around to his side of the car.

"Is Starducks okay?" Fenton asked, starting the car. Della nodded, deciding not to say she'd never been to a Starducks before. Scrooge had always said the place was much too expensive.

"I mean, if the coffee there isn't too pricey…" Della said, brushing back her hair.

"Don't worry about it," Fenton said with a smile. "I won a gift card in a lottery. It's been sitting in my wallet forever - and I figured, why not use it now?"

"Cool," Della said, smiling. Fenton nodded and began the drive back down to Duckburg. The couple lapsed into silence on the way to Starducks…Della, unsure of where to look, turned to the window. She watched as the grass turned into sidewalk, and the trees into buildings. So many things have changed since she was gone…

"Do you want to listen to the radio?" Fenton asked, brining Della out of her musings. She glanced back at him. He nodded down at the radio between their seats, and she glanced at it. It looked a lot like the car radios around when she was still on Earth, thankfully. (She was still learning how to use new technology).

"Sure," Della said, pressing the on button and wincing as volume boomed to life. The music was literally shaking the car it was so loud - or wait, maybe that was Fenton trying not to crash into a tree…

"Could you turn it down?" Fenton asked, trying not to swerve too much. It seems someone had pushed up the dial either accidentally when the car was off.

"What?" Della asked, her eyes frantically searching for the volume control. She found it just as Fenton said, in an extra loud voice -

"I SAID COULD YOU TURN IT -" Once Fenton realized the music was turned down, he let his voice go back to normal. Although not without a blush. "Down...um, thanks."

"No problem," Della said, sitting back in her seat. Now that the music was turned down just right - she could start surfing channels. "So...what music station do you like?"

"I don't really know," Fenton said with a shrug. "I just sort of...surf the channels till I find something that I like. And of course with the multiple stations around Duckburg there are a lot of stations to surf."

"So - musical surprise it is," Della said, turning the radio until she came upon the song "Rose-Colored Boy" by the band Paramore. "This okay?"

"Sure," Fenton said, as they entered a semi-busy cross road. "Do you like Paramore?"

"Para-who?" Della asked.

"Paramore - it's the name of the band," Fenton said, nodding at the radio. Della blushed and shook her head.

"When did they first go public?" Della asked.

"2013," Fenton said. It took a moment of awkward silence for Fenton to realize his mistake - he'd forgotten that Della had been on the moon for 10 years - she'd missed everything since 2010…

"Yeah...I was on the moon then," Della said, brushing a strand of hair nervously back. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea - she didn't know a lot about Duckburg or Earth or even modern music -

"You know what?" Fenton said, pulling into a parking spot at Starducks. "Forget I said anything."

"Okay then," Della said, looking over at him. "Forget I asked when they went public."

"Wiped from my memory," Fenton said, waving a hand. Della let out a laugh despite herself, and smiled. Maybe this date was a good idea after all...

"Well, if we didn't have that past conversation," Della said, unbuckling. "What was it we did talk about?"

"No idea," Fenton said with a shrug. He unbuckled and opened his door a crack. "Maybe we should talk about it over coffee."

"Definitely." Della said, opening up her door and getting out.

Hi! I hope this chapter didn't disappoint. I loved writing this chapter, although it was kind of hard to write cause I had to really stop and think about what clothing styles would work best for this "not-a-date" coffee outing. Speaking of coffee - next chapter I will actually get to Della and Fenton drinking coffee.
