March 31 - Fourteen Days Later
Well, it's me again. Just two weeks later, and it's the eve of dear ol' revamped Spring-Trash—Sorry, Spring-Trap's— maiden voyage. This time, it won't be a get-the-funky-goo-and-run-home deal. No, no, no. It's time for the little robot bunny to leave his burrow and get "adopted" by his new owner. Just thinking about it makes me choked up, y'know? I've had this guy for over a few months and this March makes me emotionally attached to him. Yes, I've had him for a few months already. I thought that was clear in the beginning, but I guess I'll clarify now.
So, before my rundown of what happened with H-B over two weeks, here's an update about that VR game I mentioned last time. I wasn't able to get it after all... and I'm kinda glad I didn't. Turns out pre-orders got pulled because of some glitch messing with the code. Worse yet, the development history is so muddled with rumors about testers acting weird after beating all the levels or the whole game itself being some "cover-up" for some attempt to make light of the incidents I've been recording.
Oh, and remember the emails? Yeah, turns out one of the employees is going all Jekyll-and-Hyde at the company. Not the book version, but all the shows you'd see featuring the idea. Girl named "Ness" plays the conflicted worker by day, but probably switches into that mall-spying bunny-suit weirdo at night. Or not. Look, I'm going by what I see and what I see isn't good. I'm just happy I'm nowhere near the mega-mall or the company's main headquarters. That limits the risk on the neighborhood, H-B, and me.
Sorry to bring the drama and "bad news" before the great stuff, but I had to update for those more interested in those developments. Hey, one more thing about that mall, though: I hear that it's opening in a month or two, since there's been teasers posted and sound files for the animatronics leaked from the corporation themselves. Let's just hope this "pizza-plex" doesn't have any issues that could spread like wildfire...
Anyway, on to the actually important stuff for this journal: how H-B is performing both as a "scary" animatronic and as a heavily-confused robot that happens to act more human. Let me start off by saying that the "battle" mode has been successfully reinstated. That is to say, H-B can show Shadow Punk who's boss or defend himself more easily. The only hurdle was that I had to also teach him how to properly "threaten" someone with the new lines I installed. Kinda like training a shy teen how to be a scare actor for a haunted house. Thankfully, he took it rather well. I bet it's because I didn't mess with the code for that as much.
Yes, careful readers, I sent him out for things other than remnant searching afterwards. I had to, since he had to get a good feel for the basic route to his new owner's house. He went to a bunch of places, which I know thanks to all the pics he sent me. Grocery store, that huge local park we have here, an actual pizza parlor... He even stopped by the theatre and said hello to a few of my other friends. Augusta even called me up afterwards and told me to expect him with a souvenir from his visit. Little did I know that his "gift" was a spare cape one of the boys managed to tear up. At least he was happy with it, since he managed to actually spook me a few times. I wonder if he got a few extra lessons from the cast.
As for his journaling, he's been giving me updates on it from time to time. He's been using the book as a "dream recorder" of sorts. That is, he writes down anything of interest about his latest 'dream' session and tries to make theories of his own. His are more simple than mine, with a gridded checklist to indicate any recurring patterns or themes. So far, he's had at least five with William and/or something referring to him. Two of the others included Shadow Punk and the mysterious bear figure, though I bet it's a result of his system processing and storing old data and not a nightmare. Interesting that his patterns contain Will without setting off the diagnostics. Maybe he's digging deeper into this mystery than I am? Makes sense, due to Will being the guy H-B's model is based on. I may need to check my Internet history, since he might be using my computer while I'm gone...
Aside from the lack of our unknown rabbit thing Shadow Punk attacking H-B again and H-B still not having a proper name, I think that's all I need to cover. Here's hoping that tomorrow will be a great day to remember, huh? I sure am going to miss you guys and gals already, but who knows? Maybe I'll update you again in the near future.
In the meantime, this is Octavia out. Check you guys on the flip side... Whatever that means.
Oh, good. You're still here.
Don't be afraid, readers. It's just me ("H-B") again.I wanted to thank you for reading my Octavia's research all the way through. The lore has been tedious and questions remain unsolved, but at least this month-long journey is finally at its end. I know I'm supposed to be shut down for the night, but I wanted to show my appreciation before the start of a new life. One that, hopefully, will be less stress-inducing on my circuits. That cooling fan has been spinning at top speed so many times, I've had to keep a separate graph in my journal. It's been getting more annoying than relieving, but I understand its purpose. Don't want my wires to melt, after all.
For those sad about my departure: don't worry. I've had an email session with Octavia's employer via text message. After some clarifying that I wasn't a spammer and that I was myself, I told her that I wanted to either post my own research or send Octavia and her basic information about my day and let them publish in third-person. The employer has agreed as well as Octavia, who forgot to mention this because she typed the above portion right before bed. I wouldn't be surprised if it slipped through her memory banks.
Back to the topic at hand, it's been arranged that I arrive at Penny's house, as that is the customer. If all goes well, then I should be able to live out my new "life" and post updates. I hope Penny is looking forward to my arrival as Octavia is. I'm feeling the remnant swirl around in my chest wires, which is making my balance sensors act up. Is this what butterflies flittering around in your stomach feels like to you humans?
To make re-center my calibration, then, I suppose I'll say a few parting words. Rest well and assured of my safety, if you're reading this at night and have grown attached to me. Please get up and make breakfast, if you're viewing this in the morning and are using this as an excuse to not get up. For those in less general time zones and walks of life, I hope you have a wonderful (or much improved) day no matter what. And, for those of you who have been waiting for me to say it...
"I always come back."
Now, enjoy whatever other things you planned on doing. I'm going to charge for my trip tomorrow morning. Farewell... for now.
