It had been two days since Steven Westbrooke had arrived at the SGC, and he had been whisked floor to floor, person to person. He wasn't given a lot of intel before arriving, and he understood why. He still hadn't seen the gate in action. He wasn't really sure he believed everything he has been reading. Sometimes he half expected Sam to come and start laughing, saying it was a cruel joke. Then, it happened.

"Unscheduled off-world activation." came over the intercom with sirens blaring.

A large number of people ran to the gateroom. Sam had seen him and grabbed him and pulled him with her.

"It's the Tokra's IDC," Walter claimed.

"Well, open the Iris." General Hammond asked.

The Iris was open, and the bright blue wall was mesmerizing. Sam looked at her friend's jaw dropped, and he stared at its beauty.

"Yeah, it gets everyone the first time," Daniel claimed, smiling at the man.

"Well, we're the welcome wagon; come on," Daniel said, patting Steven's shoulder.

He walked down the flight of steps but missed who came through the gate.

"DAD!" Sam screamed

which threw Steven for a loop.

He looked at the man in an odd robe. He remembered Sam had said her father was in the military. Apparently, he was in the Stargate program too.

"Jacob, welcome home, I am glad you're here, but we have no business with the Tokra right now."

"No business, just pleasure apparently, right now I am a bigger hindrance than a help. Selmack had a few words, and everyone thought we all needed some space." Jacob said.

"I see." General Hammond claimed.

"How long do you have a dad?" Sam asks.

"I think a few weeks should do it," Jacob smirked.

Sam smiled, and Jacob looked around. Daniel embraces him, and Jack gave a firm handshake Teal'c stood stoically, and then a man Jacob didn't recognize.

"And you are?" Jacob asks suspiciously.

"Lt. Col. Westbrooke, Sir."

"Westbrooke… sounds familiar."

Jack looked over.

"Dad, remember Steven Westbrooke?" Sam asked.

Jacob searched his thoughts.

"Steven Westbrooke, so I finally meet the only man who had my daughter tripping over her own words. Nice to finally meet you, son," Jacob claimed.

Sam blushed, and Jack clenched his teeth.

"We're a bit busy right now, Jacob, excuse us," Jack claimed.

Jacob looked at General Hammond, who had no idea what Jack was talking about. But SG-1 and Steven were out of the Gateroom before the General had Jacob come to his office.

"Sorry about that, Jacob, you see, Colonel O'Neill. He's just a little…" General Hammond started.

"George, the word you're looking for is jealous?" Jacob stated.

Both men smiled and laughed for a second.

"It would be funnier if it weren't because of my daughter," Jacob claimed.

"You know, I don't believe for a second Jack or Sam have done ANYTHING that would put their jobs on the line." General Hammond claimed.

"Hell, I know that, George, but I'm not blind. Every time I'm here, Jack and Sam are like glue one way or another. I've only been here once since finding out about Robert, and I see the way Jack looks at her. He's looking at Steven the same way he looked at Robert." Jacob said.

"I assure you that when Steven walked through that door, Sam was the happiest I think I've ever seen her, Jacob. They're close." General Hammond claimed.

"I know, I knew it when she would write to me, call me. If things had gone differently, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you didn't have a Major Westbrooke instead of Carter." Jacob claimed

"They're that close?" Hammond asks.

"Mmm, of course, Sammie never admitted it to me. I think they both got scared. Hell, they were so young back then. Instead of attempting to stay together once their units separated, Sam and Steven did as well. She never talked about him much after that, but in her letters to me and the occasional calls, it was always about him. Until it wasn't then, it was how she was counting down the days to a new assignment which was Washington, of course." Jacob explained.

"Jacob, I'm going to be honest with you if Steven and Sam rekindle that. I don't know how anyone is going to put up with Colonel O'Neill." General Hammond explained.

Jacob smiled once again and shook his head, unsure if he walked into the SGC or a high school.

In her lab, Jacob had found his daughter with Jack, who seemed overly interested in a crystal that Sam and Jacob both knew was used for life support on a mother ship.

"Hey, kiddo!" Jacob claimed.

"Dad!" both Sam and Jack said at the same time.

Jacob once again smiled.

"So, Sammie, what are you working on now?" Jacob asked.

"Despite the Colonel insisting I tell him all about that Crystal over there, I am working on a personal shield found by SG-6 on PX-7814. It's similar to what we've seen in the past, but it is not naqudah based," Sam explained.

Sam showed the object to her dad.

Jack stayed quiet for a long time before he became restless and started twirling the crystal.

"Colonel!" Sam said without even turning around to look at him.

"Dad, can you please explain how dangerous that is to Colonel O'Neill since clearly, I can't get it through to him!" Sam claimed.

"Now, Sam, I am sure Jack is well aware of what could happen if he drops it," Jacob said, looking at Jack, who gingerly set it down and backed away as suddenly it was an unexploded bomb.

"Well, I guess I'll be seeing myself out," Jack claimed.

Sam just looked at him.

"He's acting stranger than normal," Sam explained.

Jacob smiled again but didn't say a word.

Jacob had made his rounds finding Steven with Daniel. The two got along extraordinarily well. Although they weren't in the same field, both were eager to learn from one another, and the three men had a productive conversation, helping Daniel with some translation and discussion of aviation. It was reaching late afternoon before Jacob said his goodbyes and made his way to Jack's office.

Jack O'Neill was reading over paperwork, and Jacob smiled.

"When is the next mission?" Jacob asks.

"Not soon enough, we're going to a frufru planted to get Westbrooke acquainted with the gate tomorrow just a few hours," Jack explains.

"Sounds exciting," Jacob stated.

Jack just looks at him.

"So what really brings you by Jacob?" Jack asks.

"Can't a friend just come to say hi?" Jacob asks.

"Of course, anytime, but you have that gleam in your eye." Jack pointed out.

Jacob just looked at the man.

"No gleam Jack, I think you're seeing a lot of what isn't there," Jacob stated.

Jack scoffed.

"So, Carter tell on me?" Jack asks.

"No telling needed, Jack," Jacob said.

"What if…" Jack cut off, realizing he was talking to Sam's dad and just not just one of the guys.

"Jack… I can't speak on my daughter's behalf, but what I do know is sometimes people need to find out for themselves what they want and what they need. I'm not saying this is gonna go in your favor, but you're not helping matters right now." Jacob stated.

Jack nodded, and Jacob stood up and walked out of Jack's office and back to Sam's lab.

I know this a little on the short side, but there are still 6 more chapters to go, not really long. Anyone who has been following me, I am still working on my Group Outings story and haven't put it up yet. It will be way A/U but hopefully a good laugh. Thanks for all the reviews and follows of this story.
