There were many things the Courier didn't expect in life. He didn't expect to get caught in the middle of a power struggle between Benny and Mr. House (may they rest in pieces). He didn't expect to survive two gunshots to the head. He didn't expect so many cazadores just over that hill near Goodsprings. He didn't expect the Deathclaw nest in Quarry Junction. He didn't expect a group of old ladies to assault him with rolling pins. And he most certainly didn't expect to be thrown in a New World with beings he previously assumed to be nothing but fantasy. See, the point is, despite the things he's done and seen, life always had a surprise in store for him. Which brings him to right now.
Normally, only he and ED-E took residence in this spare room. That and his personal belongings. Most notably the equipment his eyebot companion had quite literally started crapping out. He still had no idea how ED-E stored all his lifelong stuff in that small body of his. But right now, he stood utterly still, his breathing coming to a complete halt. It was honestly a normal reaction for the situation. How else would a man react to a naked blonde woman laying on his bed. For 99% of men, this would be the fantasy they always wanted fulfilled. For Six, this is an utter nightmare.
Solution, a treasured creation from Ainz's friends, one of the Pleiades, looked at him with an expression no doubt intended to charm him. On the outside, his singular eye still exposed from the broken visor, the Courier looked completely calm. Inside? A completely different story. His mind raced at a speed only adapted during the most stressful times of combat. Getting chased by a squad of legionnaires didn't cause him this much panic. Why is she doing this? Does she not realize that Ainz would have his head on a platter if even tried touching her inappropriately?
Is that it?! Is she trying to kill me!? Is this some elaborate plan to get rid of me?
Six suddenly calmed down and felt his vision blur for a second. The rush from the drugs had suddenly and fully worn off. The built up exhaustion from these almost sleepless days were finally catching up to him. Still, he stayed mindful of the situation before him and tried focusing on sorting this out and not looking at… mammary glands.
"Welcome back, Six-san." Solution said as she stopped leaning on one arm and instead moved forward using both elbows to prop herself up.
Just be direct. Don't pussyfoot around.
"What are you doing, Solution?" He asked as he put his hands in his coat pockets and leaned back in a casual manner.
"Is it not obvious?" She shifted somewhat. "There is no need to pretend any longer. This sight pleases you does it not?" She asked with a rhetorical intent.
"What it does is make me uncomfortable and confused." Six took a few steps to his right where there was more space to put between themselves. Solution's expression soon shifted to something resembling discontent. "Why are you doing this again?" He gestured to himself.
[Speech 100/65]
"Solution, I know you don't have feelings for me - that there is an ulterior motive here. Whatever it is? Just spit it out. It'll make everything easier for both of us."
The blonde slime then frowned completely but it didn't diminish her beauty. She seemed hesitant for a second or two as her eyes roamed the ground near her before coming to a decision and locking eyes with Six.
"You are right. I… just wanted a sample. A small taste. You allowed Entoma-chan to savor some of your flesh so I thought..."
I completely forgot about that…
"That's it? You just wanted to absorb me then? Since you're a slime and all?"
A slow nod from the blonde beauty. Six stared at her for a short while before he suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. He honestly thought there was more to it than her simply wanting to "taste test" him. Solution herself stared at him strangely and somewhat embarrassed as she looked away from the reaction. A few seconds later this laughter diminished into giggles and then outright stopped.
"I'm sorry, I thought it was… ha, you know what? It doesn't matter." Six spread his arms and almost struck a t-pose. "If it'll satisfy you and get you to stop waiting at my room…" He gestured once more to himself. "Absorb me."
A look of surprise overcame the predatory slime. "Really? You'll allow me?"
Six nodded. "Yup. All you had to do was ask." Six failed to keep himself from glancing further below her face but it reminded him of something very important. "Can you put some clothes on? Still uncomfortable here."
Solution ignored his request and got up from the bed which resulted in exposing even more of her body. It was at this point that Six was forced to close his eyes. Sure, he wasn't a horndog, but he wasn't outright immune to forms of seduction just very resistant to attempts. He would rather not risk any lustful thoughts. And Ainz's wrath.
"It is much easier to absorb humans when not wearing any clothing." She said as she got closer. "I am about to begin." She bowed in front of Six in gratitude though he obviously didn't see. "Thank you for indulging my request."
"Mm-hm. Whenever you're ready, blondie."
Solution grinned and quickly made physical contact with Six. He almost jumped as he felt her bosom press against his chest. Any panic he might've felt soon dissipated when he felt himself sinking forwards. He opened his eyes and came face to face with Solution. Her face looked nothing short of somewhat disturbing. For most people anyway. Six couldn't help but smile underneath his helmet as well when he realized that as a slime her facial expressions were so intense simply because she imitated the form of a human. So when she smiled genuinely, it was when it stretched to such a degree. The last thing Six saw on the outside was his bed just beside her before he sunk deeply within.
The world soon went quiet and the mailman was alone inside of the slime chick. Six felt himself almost floating but felt some force holding him within Solution. He turned in place to try and get a better look within. It wouldn't be dishonest to say it was like being inside of jelly. Except the jelly was absurdly strong and it could kill you if it wanted. His vision wasn't obstructed and he could see other things within. Not too far from him, he could make out what looked like Solution's normal clothing. He stared at it for a few seconds and realized they were moving away from him before it disappeared altogether. The space within Solution was honestly impressive to him. He could imagine himself as a slime as well holding all kinds of weapons within himself and bringing them forth whenever the situation called for it. But how much space was inside Solution exactly?
Six went against the force holding him down and began exerting his strength to move. He didn't realize how easy it was to actually move about. It really felt like he was flying. He paused for a moment before deciding to lean forward and performing a flip within. Smiling to himself after doing so he began doing other things such as flapping his arms to endlessly flipping left and right. He wondered if this was how astronauts felt when it came to space. The freedom of movement was actually pretty fun. He kept doing some acrobatic movements for a few minutes before suddenly feeling something shoving him. It was as if the power of a tsunami came through and knocked him flat on his ass. It had happened so quick that the jelly world he left behind suddenly turned into the regal one he had come to familiarize himself with.
Landing or rather sliding face first, he felt the slime that once surrounded him leave his body and raise itself from off the floor. Afterwards, a terrible but stifled scream came from just behind him. Turning his head and body, he saw the teacher - Yuri Alpha - look absolutely mortified. Six didn't waste any time standing up and dusting himself off.
He looked behind himself and ignored Solution who had previously been in front of him. He glanced at the other maids who had all apparently decided to travel together save for Narberal and Lupusregina who he believed to be out doing their own tasks at the moment. A cumbersome silence ruled the room but he decided to break it the only way he knew how, with a sentence only a being of max intelligence could craft.
"Hey." He waved at them.
The response to that one word was not what he expected. Yuri suddenly went on her knees and bowed her head a little too violently for his liking. She might as well have smashed her head on the ground. Though he wondered if that would even hurt at all.
"M-my sincerest apologies!" She sank even further to the ground. "Please forgive my foolish sister, Six-sama!"
"No, it's..." He tried to speak.
"Ainz-sama might find out." CZ added.
"Please don't tell on our sister, Six!" Entoma frantically moved in place while waving her arms.
The Courier's poker face broke and he raised his eyebrows in confusion, but he made to speak quickly before this went on any further.
"Teach, I let Solution absorb me. I wasn't soaked in against my will."
Yuri threw her head up in both surprise and relief. Six wondered why the battle maid had such an extreme reaction to something he considered not even worth mentioning. Especially since Solution couldn't hurt him if she tried her damndest. Okay, maybe she could but it would only be a minuscule amount of damage.
"So please stand up. You shouldn't be in a position like that, especially to someone like me."
Yuri accepted his words and slowly rose to her own two feet. However she still appeared to be at a loss as to why exactly he had allowed it as such…
"May I ask as to why you allowed her to assimilate with you?"
"Well…" Six glanced at Entoma for a moment. "I gave the ladybug," a gesture towards the bug girl. "A sample of me, right?"
Yuri nodded slowly as she remembered the act. At that time, she couldn't believe their newfound ally had actually maimed himself so that her sister could eat amongst them as well. As time went on, she had rationalized that such an action is what separated Six from other humans and why Ainz had assigned so many tasks to him.
"It wouldn't be fair for only her to try, so Solution came to me and asked. Very politely I will add." He kinda lied at that last sentence but it was only to make the undead woman feel better.
"I see…" She didn't know what else to say, her worry had clearly been misplaced. But even so…
"Six's muscle tastes really good, Yuri-nee." Entoma supplied. She then tilted her head and put extra oomph into her cutesy voice. "Can I have some more~?"
Six smiled nervously underneath his helmet. "Um, maybe later. It's been days since I've gotten any sleep. I'm a little tired."
I'm minutes from slipping into unconsciousness. Please just let me fall flat onto my bed.
"...Your eyes are all red." CZ said as her good single eye briefly flashed.
"Those are just the drugs actually." He couldn't hold a sigh back. "Now that this is all settled…" He turned around and got his first look at Solution after exiting her body. He was thankful she had her clothes back on… even if they didn't leave much to the imagination. He froze when he realized that she was trembling. Had he accidentally hurt her? Was there something painful about absorbing him?
"...Solution? Hey, uh, are you alright?" He turned around to glance at the Pleiades who soon noted her strange behavior. She stayed on her hands and knees, hiding her face away from everyone else. Six took a step forward, his intent being to circle around and get a better look. Any damage he might have done to her needed to be fixed as soon as possible. Not only because Ainz would torture him for all eternity but because he would feel awful. However, his guilty conscience soon turned to one of bewilderment. The moment he had placed his first foot closer to her, she had reacted in a way he never expected.
The predatory slime used her natural form to explode in place and lunge directly onto Six. Had it not been for {Stonewall} he would have surely been knocked down. Instead, he backpedaled viciously on the ground before being pinned against the wall by her. The only thing within his field of vision was Solution's tender and frightently eros smile. She cupped Six's head with her two hands and pressed her head against his.
"I've never felt such pleasure before…!" She breathed onto him. "I want you inside me again! I can make you feel good too. I know how the human body works..." She pressed her whole body against his, groping at him as she did so all while keeping eye contact with him. Her carnal eyes and stuck out tongue displayed her full intentions. As for how Six felt about this?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
In shocking terror, his throat refused to release the screams that would have no doubt escaped from him. Those aghast eyes of his snapped over to the other maids and locked onto Yuri. Any mask he assumed on his face had been discarded violently. His eyes began praying vehemently for her to save him. The elder sister did not miss his silent shrieks for help and quickly took action. She grabbed Solution by her shoulders and yanked her away from Six with all her might. The blonde slime girl looked almost dismayed after being pulled. Though Six had been given back his personal space, he had yet to move away at all.
"Solution Epsilon! What has gotten into you?!" The teacher shook her younger sister.
"Uwah~" The robot girl's face changed ever so slightly, but she didn't seem to like Solution's actions.
It was here that Six decided that he had enough. With what little reason and energy he had left, he quickly began excusing himself.
"I-I think I'm just gonna go." He scooted away and began making his way to his room. "It was, uh, it was nice talking with you all and…" He power walked it to safety. "Thank you, Yuri!" He opened the door and shut it behind himself as fast as he could.
There was a silence after he had left. Yuri let out a sigh, the youngest sisters looked at one another and Solution wore a curious expression on her face.
"Perhaps I came on too strongly?"
…
He didn't know what had happened beforehand, all he knew that whatever he needed done was already finished which is why he had decided to leave the building by turning the knob and exiting the door acting as the entrance as well. His first step outside reminded him that he was somewhere in freeside. Scrapped cars, fiery garbage barrels, cracked cobblestone, broken roads and rundown buildings full of squatters trying to fight the natural cold. Any light that would have come from the sun had instead been replaced by the full moon above him. The walls around New Vegas protected the lower class from most outside dangers but never from the predators that roamed the streets. Trust no one and always keep a weapon by your side, preferably a gun. That unspoken rule itself was one of the big reasons as to why the Van Graffs business was so good.
Six closed the door behind himself and walked on into the mostly silent night. With his Weathered 10mm pistol by his side, he strolled onwards admittedly free of any worry and caution. It was a mistake. Which is why he was so surprised when three women stepped out from behind a building all at once. He remembered this situation, but something was very very wrong with what his memory was relaying to him. Instead of the three old ladies with weaponized rolling pins, three figures identical to Solution had come out instead. The weapons they used were what the predatory slime had naturally within her body. That same tender but predacious eyes and smile made him freeze in place.
"Ara, look what we have here, ladies, another unsuspecting human."
With those words they all sprang into action and rushed towards Six without hesitation. Instincts would've had him draw his weapon. Instead, he froze up. He wanted to move. He wanted to fight back. He wanted to let loose a war cry that promised pain. But all he could do was watch helplessly as they came down upon him like wolves on a sheep.
...
The Courier awoke with a heavy twitch. His eyes had snapped open and his heartbeat had increased considerably as it beat rapidly underneath the adrenaline and speed he had somehow accumulated. Still laying down but fear still in his system, he stared at the wall for a few seconds before letting out a shaky breath and getting himself up from his prone position. He looked around his room and realized he was still alone which he found strange. Everytime ED-E had come to know of his arrival he would always come by himself to greet Six. He didn't mind, it was good that his boy was enjoying himself here in this great tomb. Better his buddy than him. He deserved the rest. Six owed that scrapbot that much at least.
He moved his left hand to the shattered part of his visor and remembered that it and his whole set of armor needed repairs. Before even coming to Nazarick, he had neglected them even before his surprise appearance in Nazarick. That beat down he had received from that Enclave leader was a reminder to get it done before it all completely failed him. His eyes stayed glued to the floor for a few more seconds before he decided to fully get up. He moved his arms behind himself and both heard and felt his bones crack as he stretched.
In hindsight, Six should have requested some materials for repairing his armor. He regretted letting the Plasma Caster wail at him long enough to get a closer look at some Martial Arts. He hadn't learned anything significant save for the fact that only a few individuals could actually use multiple at once. He hadn't tried to mimic any of their moves but felt that he didn't have enough information to get any abilities like that. Instincts told him that he was missing something he just didn't know what. Regardless, he couldn't go around wearing this anymore, his elite riot gear pressed uncomfortably against his body. The only reason he hadn't felt it earlier was due to the fact that the chems had yet to completely leave his system. At least he hadn't gotten addicted.
He grabbed his helmet and removed it. He placed it on a nearby cabinet whose drawers had yet to see any use. Well, almost any use anyway. He then began undoing the belts and straps on his body and felt everything previously wound now come loose. He let it all fall on the ground with a thump and then began removing the rest of the elite gear. At some point, the only thing on his person was his underwear. Not liking the sense of feeling utterly naked without any protection, he opened the very top drawer and began to pull out his backup armor. The Reinforced Sierra Madre Armor. Not only was it light so it was much easier to carry around, the helmet also came with the big plus of hiding his face. The amount of protection it gave was honestly impressive for its weight. It outdid other medium classed clothing in the survival department but looked a little silly with the orange. Not that he really cared, but maybe he should recolor the orange to a darker color. His mind immediately decided that maybe grey would be the best option. It was too bad it didn't come with night vision and an air filtration system though he supposed it didn't matter here in Nazarick. That's what he assumed anyway.
This wasn't the only thing ED-E had been producing for him. In the bottom drawer lay the Stealth Suit MK 2 he had the unfortunate pleasure of finding. That displeasure stemmed from the automated personality within. He didn't hate it, but the female oriented A.I. has some sort of strange attachment to him. The amount of times it brought up being loved made him want to take it off. Not that it was an option during his "visit" to the Big MT. He almost felt bad for having it turned off for so long. Almost.
Oh, is that what Ainz feels like?
He was getting oddly upset about this. Anyway, he donned the body part first and made sure it stayed on tightly. Though he found it annoying, he knew that he had to put the belts, buckles, and holsters back on his person with great care. After making sure he was equipped again. He then placed the security helm on his head. He finished the outfit by putting on his knee pads and gauntlets. Turning to look at the only mirror in the room he took a good look at himself. The Courier nodded to himself and then began deciding on what weapons to bring.
walked to the door leading to the Pleiades' quarters and hoped he wouldn't encounter a particular blonde. He relaxed when he found the room completely empty.
What did he need to go do again? Ah, right, the repairs. But he needed to contact somebody…
Surely Albedo wouldn't mind if I asked, right?
Six heard something click and instantly whipped his head to look at the source of the noise. It had come from the entrance to the battle maids' room. He watched it give away to whoever had forced it to open and soon saw the individual behind it.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Or succubus in this case.
"An intruder? No, you must be..." Albedo initially narrowed her eyes and furrowed her brows but soon relaxed her face when she came to a conclusion.
"Yeah, it's me." Six pointed to himself with a thumb.
"I was not aware you had more clothing available. Someone in Nazarick might mistake you for an enemy."
"Yeah, probably." He shrugged noncommittally and looked around the room as if searching for something before turning back to look at her. "So what's up? Got a task for me?"
"That is correct. I'm sure you recall those humans we captured-"
"Humans that I captured." He rectified.
Albedo gave him a harsh glare but Six only responded with: "It's true." in a higher pitched tone.
"Regardless, you are meant to be present during the interrogations in order to verify the information. Ainz-sama has made this a top priority but allowed for you to rest though I believe you have had enough."
"Hm… How long was I knocked out?"
"After your return? I would say around eight hours."
"Good to know." A lightbulb went off in his head. "Hey, is there somewhere in Nazarick I can repair my armor? It's not in good condition to say the least."
"I see. Well, I can make a request to the Chief Blacksmith to have it looked at."
"There's a blacksmith… huh." He thought for a moment. "I guess that saves me some time then."
"Indeed." Albedo began walking forward. "Let us make the trip short. Place your hand on my shoulder."
Six did as he was asked but made sure not to get too close to Albedo as he did so. The She-Devil raised her left arm lightly and then…
…
In an instant, they had left the room. He noted that the temperature had dropped significantly though it wasn't at an uncomfortable amount. At least for him anyway. Everytime he breathed out through his nose, he could see his own personal white cloud taking form. A quick look around let him see the dark blue coloring and iced up walls. Some of the windows in the halls didn't have glass but rather transparent ice that almost made it seem as if it were that. The layout reminded him of a mansion, random paintings decor and other such things that he personally found to be unnecessary.
"Follow me." He heard Albedo say next to him and did as he was told without saying a word.
"Is this somewhere on the Fifth Floor?" He asked in an attempt to make small talk. Deafening silence while roaming through the unknown ice blue halls would likely drive him crazy.
"Yes. Opposite of Cocytus' residence."
"Oh. So that's why I haven't seen it."
Albedo said nothing more and continued her stroll. Six however wanted to keep talking.
"So how's that whole thing with Ainz going? Made any progress?"
Though her back was turned, Six could tell that the smiling poker face of hers had turned into something more genuine.
"Yes, actually. I was informed that Ainz-sama trusts no one but me to oversee Nazarick while he is away." A strange but jubilant noise came from her.
"So Narberal told you this?"
Albedo furrowed her brows. "How did you know?"
"Because she's the only one chilling with him." He stated the obvious. But then, dangerous words crept into Six's mind. "What if she and Ainz-"
"Do not dare to finish that sentence." Albedo turned to look back at him with a mad look about her.
He wasn't affected. Much. "Hey, it's a possibility. Consider everything. Don't get angry at me if it turns out to be true." He shrugged.
The demoness cooled down somewhat. "I will not lie, the same thought crossed my mind. But I considered it an impossibility after I questioned Narberal myself."
"Ah. So what'd she say?"
"She denied it vehemently. The only feelings she felt were that of absolute loyalty to the Supreme One."
"One less competitor then. Good for you. Hey, Speaking of Ainz…"
"What about Ainz-sama?"
"You want to have children with him right?"
Her face blossomed. "Nothing would bring me more joy than to sire an heir with him. I have already made proper clothing in preparation. Be it boy or girl, it won't be a problem."
"Yeah, but, uh, isn't there a slight problem with that?"
"I see no issue with what I've said."
"You want kids with Ainz but he's a skeleton."
"What does him being undead have to do with anything?" She replied a little hotly.
"Nothing's wrong with being undead. It's just that he's missing… an essential part. For baby making?"
Albedo remained silent for a few moments before realizing his meaning. Once she did, she smiled like she knew something he didn't. "Ainz-sama is a supreme being. It won't be an issue."
Six raised his brows in concern and confusion underneath the helm but decided not to push the question any further. For his own sake. And maybe even Ainz's.
"And what about you?"
The sudden question had caught him off-guard. "Huh?"
"Your relationship with the Pleiades."
"Oh. I get along fine with them. To be honest, I thought it wouldn't work out but that was just some pessimism on my end."
"Only fine? Is that right? I heard something different in regards to Solution Epsilon."
Six failed to hold in a grunt of surprise upon hearing this. He questioned how she knew about that event so quickly but once again realized that as the Overseer she was bound to find out at some point. Still this had been too fast. He couldn't help but frown.
"It's astonishing that a man-eater like her would find you appealing. And not just as food either."
Silence from the Mojave's best. Though he hid behind his helmet, Albedo could sense his negative attitude. A mocking smile slowly began constructing on her face.
"There is no need to be ashamed. As a man, It must be difficult to try and suppress your true feelings. Especially when surrounded by so many beautiful women."
His frown turned into a scowl. "I don't think of her, or anyone else, like that."
"But you did not refuse her advances."
"Because it was jarring. I froze up, okay? Believe me, the feeling is not mutual."
Albedo suddenly stopped walking and turned her body to look down another icey blue hallway. At the end of this one lay a set of stairs just behind frozen black bars preventing passage. There was no door that would allow someone to enter and no guards to speak of. Despite this, since the moment he arrived, Six felt many eyes on him and that feeling had gotten stronger here. The succubus next to him walked on confidently anyway. Once she made it to the halfway point, the jail-like bars suddenly all slid downwards at once, the metal grinding against the icey brick. He broke off into a jog in order to quickly catch up or else he would be left behind. They both passed the metal rods without issue. In his curiosity, Six turned around and watched the metal go back up and embed themselves into the ceiling once more.
He heard Albedo's footsteps begin to echo as she descended further below. His vision warned him of the deep pit of black awaiting him below. Though he began taking his first steps, he could tell he would be utterly blind further in. He brought up his Pip-Boy and activated the built in light. The sudden noise and bright green light caused Albedo to turn and look at him with an expression he couldn't quite place.
"What? I can't see jack in the dark. Why do you think I wear my other helmet all the time?"
She said nothing more in response and turned her head back around. They continued on in silence for about ten seconds before they finally made it below. His Pip-Boy light only allowed him to see about seven feet around himself. So he was definitely surprised when suddenly came upon two triangular shaped double doors. Instead of opening the door herself, Albedo knocked three times in quick succession. In almost an instant, the steel objects slowly and opened and revealed the two beings who had allowed entry.
Skinny and tall, these beings wore leather aprons strapped tightly to their figures. They were about as pale as Shalltear but had very visible purple veins. Their faces remained hidden thanks to the black leather masks, the only exposed portion were their mouths though they could hide that too with the zipper dangling on the side.
"Welcome back, Albedo-sama." They bowed, their voices blending with one another.
"Is Neuronist ready?" She asked, her tone becoming more about business.
"Yes, she has been patiently awaiting your return." One of them said.
"Good. Escort Courier Six to the torture room. I must take my leave."
"As you wish." The other answered.
Without wasting a moment, Albedo raised her arm once again and used the ring on her finger to suddenly teleport elsewhere. He stared at the spot she had disappeared from.
"Please follow us." He heard someone say.
He turned to look at the beings who gestured for him to follow. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and passed the threshold. Those two behind him struck him as assistants to whoever this Neuronist person was. He heard the gate shut behind him, followed by the two leather enthusiasts walking past him.
"It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Courier Six-sama." The one to his right said. He'd call him Righty.
"Just call me Six or Courier. I don't like the honorifics."
"...Would that not be disrespectful?" The other on the opposite, Lefty, seemed hesitant.
"Not at all. I don't like being treated like I'm something important. I'm just like everyone else." He answered.
The two assistants looked at one another though the Courier couldn't tell what silent answers and questions they gave to each other. He didn't know why the other residents of Nazarick did this too. Was there something crucial when it came to how he was addressed?
"May I ask a question?" Lefty spoke.
"You just did." He answered back jokingly.
"...So it seems. I apologize." He bowed somewhat.
"I'm just messing with you, guy. Yeah, ask away." He gestured for him to go on.
"...What separates you from other humans? From what we have heard and seen, they are very fragile creatures."
Six hummed in thought. That thought hadn't entered his mind. He had heard from others in Nazarick that the human race in this New World held the title of weakest race. Why this was he didn't know, but it didn't really concern him. As for his strength…
"I don't know to be honest. All I know is that I accumulated it in a short time frame after I nearly died once."
"We heard of this. You were shot twice in the head and buried correct?" Righty spoke.
"That's right."
There was a brief silence before Lefty talked again. "Thank you for answering. We will apply this to our methods."
"Leaving humans at death's door for far too long could produce disastrous results." Righty concluded.
Six said nothing as they began musing to each other different ideas on how best to keep their playthings alive for longer. It should have unnerved him, but he ignored it. Their conversation was cut short when they finally reached their destination. Unlike some of the other areas that he had passed earlier, this room presented to him had no door but appeared to be more homely than the others. A singular couch, strange artwork and a plain wooden table containing tools he quickly recognized as ones used for torture. A thumbscrew, mouth opener, tongue tearer, choke pear and some others he didn't recognize. But what really caught his attention was the man restrained against the wall and the… thing looking up at the prisoner he recognized as the Plasma Caster. Despite separating the leader's armor hours ago, this was the first time he had gotten a good look at the man's face. The prisoner seemed to be somewhere in his late 30's. Dirty blonde is the coloring of his hair, his eyes colored like pavement. It seemed he had been born with some freckles as well. The Plasma Caster seemed oddly calm for someone utterly naked, gagged, and spitting distance from various torture devices.
"Neuronist-sama. Courier Six is here."
The grey and bloated tentacle being in front of him stopped whatever she had been doing and turned around. Six raised his brow underneath his helmet as he got to see Neuronist in person. Two bulging eyes with tiny blue pupils, fake eyelashes, and a good amount of makeup made up her face. Or his? He didn't know. The dominatrix outfit reminded of a certain ghoulish gal back in Freeside.
"Ah, you're finally here Courier Six-sama." She spoke aloud, her voice deeper than he had imagined. "I'm Neuronist Painkill, welcome to my Room Of Truth."
"Just Six or Courier please." He stuck his hand out. "It's nice to meet you."
The bloated corpse in front of him extended her arm and met his own hands. They shook once before Six let go. Her grip had felt… rubbery?
"You've got some interesting tools there." He pointed to the table.
"You like them?" She walked over to the wooden object. "Every single one of them has a lovely use." She grabbed a tool he was unfamiliar with. "But this one is my favorite."
Six leaned forwards somewhat to try and get a better look at it. It reminded him of a Q-tip but if it was made out of metal and had tiny spikes at the end. Naturally, he was curious as to what exactly it was for.
"That one is new to me. What's it used for?"
"Ah, you see, my creator once suffered from something called 'kidney stones'. To honor them, I use this."
"Huh. What kind of kidney stones did he have?"
"Hmm… I'm not sure, the knowledge I was infused with only mentioned it like that."
"Well, there's four types of 'em. Uric acid, struvite, cystine and calcium oxalate. That last one is the most common."
"I did not know that." She paused for a moment. "Do you know how to treat such a problem?"
[Medicine 100/35]
"Yup, I have extensive medical knowledge. Kidney stones, though painful, are simple enough to treat and fix. If it was up to me, I would use shockwave lithotripsy since it's not invasive and uncomfortable. It's only when the stones become too big that surgery might be required."
"...I'm not sure what that means, but I'm grateful that people like you helped my creator." She bowed to him in thanks.
"There's no need for that, I didn't do anything." He tried waving it off. Neuronist, however, elected to ignore his denial of any goodwill.
"Neuronist-sama." Righty spoke. "Should we not begin the interrogation?"
"Ah, that's right, thank you for reminding me." She focused on the Courier. "Let's get started, then. What sorts of questions did you have in mind?"
Six hummed. "I don't mean to offend you, Neuronist, but would you mind letting me have a go at this? I want to try talking before going in on torture."
The brain eater thought about it for a moment. "Hearing them sing would be preferable, but you were brought here for a reason." She then decided to add more. "Would you mind if I watched?"
Six shook his head. "Of course not."
He walked past Neuronist and approached the Plasma Caster. He looked up at the man imprisoned against the wall and tried to ignore the fact that he was naked. Why hadn't he noticed that earlier? Anyway, he decided to grab at his helmet and take it off at his leisure. The moment he revealed his face, the leader let out a roar underneath the gag and tired lunging forward. Six knew that the only reason this enclave soldier had recognized him was due to the fact that he had seen a portion of his face when his visor had cracked.
"Yeah, it's me. My voice sounds different without the filter huh?"
He only received a death stare from the man.
"I'm going to take that gag off. I would really appreciate it if you answer my questions honestly."
Six raised his left arm and took hold of the gag preventing the man from fully speaking. He pulled it out no problem. It was after this that he felt something wet suddenly strike his face.
"You dare?!" Neuronist began approaching, her voice promising endless agony.
Six turned to look at her, his face naturally at ease. "It's cool. I got it." He placated with a gesture. Turning back to face the prisoner, he wiped away at his face.
"So, what's the Enclave doing all the way out here?
Besides losing fights so horribly?"
"Go to hell, mutie. We'll wipe you and your disgusting freakish friends off the face of the earth."
"Hm." Six raised his brows. "Like you did on that mountain?"
Silence from the prisoner.
"Yeah, that's right. I know where your buddies live."
The Plasma Caster scowled even more. "So what? It doesn't matter. When they find out we've gone M.I.A, they'll come looking for us. And once they find this infested tomb of abominations, they'll nuke it straight to hell."
"Maybe, maybe. Of course, that's assuming I didn't remove those tracking chips of yours."
"You…!?"
"That's right. They think you're somewhere else right now." Six scratched his head. "And I may have made it look like a Deathclaw wiped your squad."
The Plasma Caster scoffed. "Four powered armor men losing to one abomination? Only an idiot would believe that."
"When it comes to a normal Deathclaw? Yeah. But how about a Mother Deathclaw protecting her children?"
"You? Kill a Mother? You're bluffing. There's only one person on this planet that can take one on by himself. Bare-handed."
Now it was Six's turn to scoff but with a few fake laughs thrown in. "Sure, buddy. I believe you."
"Keep laughing, freak. Horrigan will come here and cleanse this place, just like he's always done."
"Sure, sure." He waved at him dismissively.
Hate and anger rose up from the prisoner's mouth. "The last thing you'll see will be his two metal hands ripping you apart like you were made out of paper. He dwarfs normal Deathclaws, so he can surely pound you into a fresh pulp." He paused. "My only regret is not being able to see it happen."
Six stayed quiet for a moment. "Who said you were going to die?"
"Do you really think I'm that dumb? You'll squeeze every bit of information out of me before you decide to kill me."
The Courier shook his head. "You're not going to die." And then turned to look at Neuronist.
"Isn't that right, Ms. Painkill?"
The Brain Eater nodded once. "That's right, we won't kill you. We'll make sure you'll all stay alive."
Six smiled a little. "See? I'm not lying and neither is she."
Nothing but distrust stayed on the prisoner's face.
"Say, before I go, what kind of model is that power armor? I know one that looks similar to it but not as advanced looking."
"...It's the kind of model we use to kill mutie freaks." He spat.
Six shook his head. "Lower ranking soldiers like yourself aren't told much anyway." He turned to look at Neuronist. "He's all yours." And began walking away from him. "Have fun. I'm going back to the Ninth Floor - got some stuff I gotta take care of. It was nice meeting you."
"Likewise, Courier Six." She said in return.
Helmet still in hand, he put it back on his head and placed himself back into the halls.
Man, I'm hungry.
…
She never thought she would be allowed to come into this room. Being approached by any of the Pleiades was amazing in itself, but walking within their own personal quarters? It was absolutely nerve-wracking but in the best way possible. She might have completely lost it if all the maids had been present, however this room held no one at the moment. As she walked, the thought of looking around some more to get a better understanding of their idols seemed like a good idea in her head. But the slightest amount of fanaticism would surely have others look down on her. She didn't know why Albedo-sama had chosen her for this but she imagined it might have been simply at random. Though that itself didn't bother her. After making it to the end of the room, she stopped in front of a plain but still elegant door. With one hand, she knocked three times before stopping.
"Courier Six-sama?" Her voice sounded much louder in the silent area.
A few seconds later, the door on the other side suddenly opened and revealed Nazarick's first ally. This was the first time she had actually been this close to the Player who had earned Ainz-sama's favor.
From the door, a faceless helmet stared back at her in its reinforced orange and black armor. The helmet leaned forwards and focused on what lay on the maid's arms. The Player spotted something very familiar to him. His second skin - his go to clothing.
"Well, damn. The blacksmith works quickly." He quickly but smoothly accepted the items before tossing them on his bed. He spun back around, focusing on the maid once more.
"Your name is… Cixous, right?"
"Yes." She nodded.
"Hm. Did Albedo send you?"
Another nod. "Yes, she said to deliver your armor to you as soon as possible."
A noise not unlike a grumble came from the overqualified mailman. "Sorry for wasting your time then. I should have gone and got it myself."
"That is…"
Six didn't let her speak. "So! Is that all? Anything else you might need from me?"
"I-"
"Oh! You know what I just realized? Our names are pretty similar. Cixous sounds like Six but with an 'us' at the end."
"...It's an interesting coincidence."
Holy shit I suck at making conversation.
"Yeah… How's ED-E by the way? I know he hangs out with your group most of the time. Is he enjoying himself?"
She nodded. "Most certainly. He definitely makes our work a little more fun."
"And because you know CZ looks for him too."
A surprised look quickly overcame her face.
"I know you guys like her the most. If ED-E's around then so will she. It's a nice method."
A fearful and apologetic look overcame her features immediately. She hadn't realized that it looked like she was exploiting ED-E for selfish purposes. She tried to bow.
"I'm very…!"
Six stuck out his arm and placed his palm just below her neck.
"I don't know why you're trying to apologize but please stop." He removed his hand. "You haven't offended me and you never will."
Cixous said nothing, an awkward silence almost taking hold of them. Six pretended to cough. "So… you're going back, right? To your friends?"
Cixous nodded again. He noted she liked to do that.
"ED-E will be there then. Mind if I join you?"
"Of course not." She replied quickly.
"Cool. Uh, give me a sec." He shut the door fast but not in a rude manner.
Cixous stood there absentmindedly and patiently for the Courier to come back out. About ten seconds passed before the door opened again. Six stepped out in his Elite Riot Gear.
"Whatever the blacksmith did, I like it." He patted himself. "Feels lighter. Less tight." He checked himself and the weapons he wore.
The armored man came out with distinct weapons. She could only make wild guesses at what they could possibly be named. Of course, Six himself knew. In all honesty however, he was only bringing along guns he knew CZ would like. Showing them off to her and seeing her genuine, but admittedly mild, reactions satisfied him. It was nice knowing someone in Nazarick who could appreciate guns like her. Speaking of guns…
He had decided to bring Maria, Big Boomer, Mysterious Magnum, A Light Shining In Darkness, and the Survivalist's Rifle which stayed strapped on his back. Cixous couldn't help but lean to her left and get a better look at his room. She became flabbergasted upon the mess he had left behind. Guns, ammo, junk, a disheveled bed and oily stains on random parts of the wall. Six followed her line of sight and glanced back at his room.
"Yeah, it's a mess. I'll clean it up when I get the chance - Promise. Pretend you didn't see it." He closed the door quickly.
"Forgive me Six-sama, but-"
"Just Six. And… I know it's your duty to clean, but it's better off if…" He trailed off. "Look, a lot of my crap can accidentally kill someone who doesn't know how to handle it. It's dangerous and I really don't want to see you turn into a fine red mist. Or green goo. Or reddish ash."
She frowned and puffed her cheeks somewhat.
"Come on…" He pleaded.
"...Very well then." Her brows furrowed. "But I'll hold you to that promise!" She wagged her finger. "I don't want to see a speck of dust. I'll come back to check."
Six smirked heartily. "Don't worry. I won't disappoint."
"Good. Shall we?" Her smile didn't seem forced anymore.
"Right behind you." He motioned in front of himself before following her as she made to exit the room.
…
ED-E beeped happily as he spun midair and away from a certain peach-haired bot. While he initially enjoyed the attention Delta had given him, it became bothersome that she did it every time she saw him. Though he couldn't voice it to anyone but his best friend, he didn't like the sticker she had put on him. It made it feel like she had just labeled him as his property. Of course, that had happened long ago so he was accustomed to it. Maybe he could convince Six to take it off? Regardless, he practically zoomed out of there before CZ decided that more hugs were mandatory for his own well-being.
"...He got away." She frowned. As much as she could anyway.
At the table sat a group of maids, those who had been lucky enough to be graced by CZ's presence. Ever since Nazarick's situation in this New World, morning meals had become mandatory for the homunculus maids. When your race penalty forces you to eat more meals than one normally should, a heaping meal of all sorts of foods was normal. What would normally stuff one person would only be half for a homunculi. To say the kitchen was busy in the morning for the Head Chef would be an understatement.
"You're not going to get that no good bird are you?"
"Ugh. I can't stand that butler."
"Please just stay here Shizu-chan!"
"ED-E will come back, I'm sure. Maybe he went to find Six?"
The robo girl thought about it for a second before deciding not to pursue the bot. He would just slip away again easily since he wasn't as weak as Eclair.
"Wait, Isn't that him?"
All the maids currently sitting at the table turned their heads to where one of their own currently looked at. Sure enough, Six and and a Homunculus Maid they knew as Cixous appeared behind the entrance. Smiling, she and Six seemed to be having a conversation they couldn't quite overhear due to the noise around them and the distance they sat at. Of course, the eyebot who did in fact go to find Six was right beside him.
"Could it be…?!"
The maids focused on the one who appeared shocked before they all leaped to a great conclusion. Multiple gasps escaped from them all almost at once.
"They're in a relationship?" A harsh whisper came from one.
"That can't be. Perhaps we're jumping to conclusions?" A voice of reason came through.
"Look!" One of them pointed back at the two.
The maids turned heads once again and watched as Cixous laughed merrily directly at the mailman who didn't seem to acknowledge save for a gesture of his head for them to continue. CZ, in her indifference, obviously could not care about whatever gossip they were currently brewing. If asked, she might agree it was strange to see them together. Regardless, ED-E had come back and that's all she cared about.
"Ah, I didn't think I would find you here, Six."
A voice from behind caused him to turn his head around before doing so with body soon afterwards. In her usual outfit, the Battle Maid known as Yuri Alpha stood before him. Next to her, the little sister he knew as Ladybug accompanied her.
"Hi, Six!" Entoma greeted him with mirth. "Can I eat a piece of you?" She got straight to the point.
The Courier could only smile nervously under his helmet while Yuri gave her sister a stern glare at her lack of manners and blatant disregard for the pain it caused their ally. That harsh look vanished the moment she looked back at Six.
"You do not have to accept that request Six. I know it requires much effort on your part to do so."
"No, no it's fine." He looked down at the bug girl. "But you do know I brought some humans over, right? They're being interrogated right now. You could ask Neuronist for some of theirs instead."
"Hmm…"
"How about this? You give it a try and if you don't like it, I'll give you double my flesh as compensation."
Entoma pretended to think about it for a moment. "Ok~ I accept~!"
"Deal then." Six stuck his arm out and opened his hand. Entoma looked at it sideways for a moment before meeting his hand and clutching it with her own. They shook on it and, for the first time, Six felt Entoma's own hands. This exchange confirmed for him that she did in fact NOT have human shaped hands. And this fact alone interested him. How could it not? He was no entomologist, but he certainly had curiosity.
"By the way," He looked at Yuri. "What about you? You're undead, so why are you in the mess hall?"
"My status as undead - a dullahan in this case - does not prevent me from eating. It just has no benefits for me. Though I still am allowed to taste it." She had taken a lecturing tone to him. "Not to mention that only half of us are in Nazarick right now. Some company might do us good."
"It's a little lonely~" Entoma supplied to which Yuri nodded in agreement.
He hummed in acknowledgement. "Then? What are you waiting for?" He pointed to the cafeteria. "Gun girl over there is waiting for you both. So go on."
"Will you not join us?"
"No." He shook his head and raised his hand halfway. "I don't belong here. This is for maids. I hadn't realized what this place meant for you all. Don't worry, I won't be a bother anymore. I'll grab my grub and leave."
Yuri couldn't help but frown. Six was most certainly not a bother. He was anything but that from what she had seen and heard thus far.
"That is simply not true. You-"
He cut her off. "You don't have to lie. It's fine. Really." His tone didn't imply any sort of negativity. He truly believed what he said. "I know my situation. I'm just glad you're all able to tolerate me. So I'm thankful for that."
He began walking away backwards and gave her a casual salute. "I'll be going now." He turned to ED-E. "Coming?"
The eyebot beeped in the affirmative as he bobbed left and right in the air. When Six turned around and strolled along normally, he left the two maids near with an excusatory hoop before following his human friend. The undead woman waved goodbye with a forced smile before returning to a frown of concern.
"What's wrong, Yuri-nee-sama~?"
"That's what I'm trying to understand. Could it be Six is unhappy?"
"Unhappy~?" She parroted.
A nod. "Ainz-sama ordered us to keep a watchful eye on Six but to also make sure that, as a guest, he is kept content. And if he is not, then we are failing those orders."
Entoma's calm demeanor soon switched to one of worry. Had they been failing Ainz-sama this whole time? The fear of being scolded by their master for not meeting his expectations began whirling throughout her mind. She looked up at her big sister to see if her face revealed any kind of answer for this new problem but found only apprehension.
…
Six tilted his head backwards as a greeting to the Head-Chef. He had been here plenty of times before with the heteromorph going about as their day that the cook either didn't care or had accepted it at this point. Knowing he was intruding, he didn't waste any time looking for specific ingredients and tools needed to make food.
He looked down at his Pip-Boy, scrolled through his inventory, summoned a piece of Brahmin meat, two ant eggs, and BlamCo Mac & Cheese.
The Courier didn't know how or why it worked, but after messing around with his Pip-Boy, he had realized that he could magically store items within it. The strangest part was that he could actually feel the weight of the object as if he were to carry it. The only problem with this was the fact that when the item itself was summoned, it would sometimes fall in front of him instead of in his hands. It usually only happened with smaller objects. Right now, he carried a huge arsenal within but still had a good amount of items strapped to his person for even quicker access.
After crafting his meal, he grabbed the bread shaped piece of meat with a singular hand and took a bite out of it.
Them's good eatin'.
Though he enjoyed his food, he stopped chewing when he heard… a rumbling? Or was it a tremor? He swallowed his food and went completely silent.
ED-E, who had been watching, let out questioning beeps before Six hushed him by placing a finger to where his lips would've been. The eyebot lowered himself to the ground to reduce the amount of noise his keys produced. They both stood stock still as they watched the Head-Chef do their work.
The cook, just now realizing he was being stared at, turned to look at the two. They looked like they were about to say something before multiple shrieks came from the cafeteria. Six snapped his body back the way he had come before breaking off into a sprint with ED-E hurriedly following right behind him. He stopped dead in his tracks when he bore witness to the scene before him.
Multiple man-sized holes had appeared from the floor, ceiling, and the floor. From it emerged the scaly dark bodies of the reptilian-humanoids he immediately identified as Tunnelers. Though their bodies were only halfway through their floors, they were still close enough to come into physical contact with the maids who had been caught completely off-guard. Though mere seconds had passed before he arrived, some of the homunculi had already been attacked. The unluckiest of them already had a Tunneler biting down on her neck, the force alone being enough to fatally wound them.
ED-E released his battle music, the marching drums beating as he began launching his blue bolts of energy. Six wasted no time in drawing his guns. The Mysterious Magnum and Big Boomer came out first. He aimed both of them in completely different directions and at two Tunnelers in particular but fired both at the same time. What sounded like an explosion going off, the hollow point round from the revolver cut through the air before landing on the bioluminescent eye of the creature. The creature couldn't even let off a scream before it's head suddenly exploded into fractions in every direction. Naturally, the maid he had been biting into was soon released from its predatory jaws.
On the other side, the magnum buckshot, though spread out, all came painfully landing on the back of a tunneler almost completely out of its hole. It let out a cry of pain as it's flesh became severed and the pellets expanded into his body. Any strength it had been using to try and pull the maid in had been completely drained as it's life force began to wither away from the wounds. It's smooth palms released the maid who quickly backed away from it and began to seek safety elsewhere.
In front of him the three battle maids had already engaged the enemy. CZ stood atop of a table at the very back with Yuri at the front and Entoma next to her. Being the lowest leveled and with the lowest physical defense, their formation made sense. Even so, her quiet but devastating shots were effective against the oncoming horde. A bulletstorm of lead prevented those at the back from advancing properly. Though Entoma herself was meant to act as support, that still didn't mean she couldn't be the aggressor. With {Blade Bug} and {Hard Armor Bug}, she cut and bashed away easily thanks to self strengthening talisman. She also had the foresight to use her {Spider Talisman} to summon said creatures as a distraction to buy the maids some time. Yuri, as a close combat specialist, held her own the best out of the two. Buffed with {Iron Skin} and {Armament Enhancement}, she dealt the most damage. Shockwaves of pure physical force sent Tunnelers back with serious bruises and shattered bones. At the moment, she had two of them laying dead near her.
Deciding to forego Big Boomer for another weapon (since switching to a pistol is faster than reloading), he pulled out A Light Shining in Darkness and began firing it alongside the Mysterious Magnum as he moved forwards, slowly clearing a path to the maid who had been unfortunate enough to get completely grabbed. With ED-E covering his back and {Rapid Reload} aiding his agility, he either turned them into bloody swiss cheese or made them erupt into a shower of blood, organs, and limbs. It didn't take him long to reach the homunculi laying on the floor, her neck gushing out dangerous amounts of liquids.
Now that he was closer, he noticed this maid in particular had dark blonde hair and pigtails as a hairstyle. He didn't miss the beads of tears on the verge of spilling out from her sky blue eyes. The Courier tucked his guns and shuffled through his many pockets before pulling out a Super Stimpak and jabbing it into the side of her neck. The effects were immediate, the fatal wound beginning to reverse all damage and blood lost. In response, the unnamed maid blinked rapidly in both confusion and relief.
"Dr. Six says: You're healed. Get up." With a little more force than was necessary, he yanked her from off the ground and began pushing her towards the exit where the homunculi maids fled to whilst drawing the Survivalist Rifle from his back. He began going backwards, pulling the trigger rapidly on distant Tunnelers. With the first ten rounds, he managed to score three kills before needing to reload his 10 round mag. He had forgotten how nimble these little bastards were.
"Is that everyone?!" Yuri shouted as she made a quick headcount and looked around the cafeteria. Even the Head-Chef was present. Six had and the three Pleiades had cleared a path for them.
"It is now." Six approached quickly, urging the maid to gather with her other workers before producing two objects from his person he forced into CZ's hands. "Flashbangs. Pull the pin, throw it at 'em and they scatter." He uttered rapidly before turning to ED-E. "Provide covering fire and make sure they make it to the Panic Room. I'll clean up here."
The eyebot beeped seriously in confirmation.
Yuri decided to follow Six's instructions and grabbed both Flashbangs. "Do not fall behind!" She shouted before beginning to lead them away with her youngest sisters following closely. Yuri glanced behind herself at the mailman before disappearing down the hall with the homunculus maids.
Six holstered his rifle onto his back and drew the unloaded sawed off shotgun before reloading it with two Dragon's Breath rounds. He wouldn't have to worry about friendly fire anymore. The Tunnelers screeched behind him before they all began rushing him. He aimed the shotgun in their directions with one hand before pulling the trigger.
Were he a fire maniac, the sight of pyrotechnics would have made him grin happily. Instead, all he could do was adopt a stony-face as they became engulfed in fire. The inferno caused the majority of them to begin flailing wildly. Some were smart enough to roll on the ground while others blindly began digging holes back underground to safety. Those that did get by unscathed, leapt at Six as he moved backwards. The furthest ahead leapt into the air in an attempt to knock him on the ground. The Courier raised his arms and let the creature land on his head. That moment lasted for only a second before a point blank shot from standard buckshot created a giant hole into its torso.
It's life ended in an instant, the creature fell backwards onto the floor, causing more red stains on the floor. Unfortunately for him, that sight block from the first Tunneler was enough for the others to pounce on him. The vision he gained earlier soon disappeared when he felt two of them jump on him with them beginning to claw and punch away at him. Though somewhat blinded he still found himself able to reload his shotgun. But they were smart. Smarter than he gave them credit for. He couldn't see it, but he felt one of them grab his left hand in an attempt to yank down on the floor. Of course, whomever it was, made sure to bring down its sharp teeth down on him. To make matters worse, he felt their hands begin removing any or all items they could see on his person. Though it was only seconds, they had efficiently disarmed him off all weapons, even Big Boomer was yanked from his hands. It was at this point that he decided that guns were no longer an option against them.
With all the power he could muster he charged forward blindly while the Tunnelers chipped away at his health. He ran headfirst into the walls and absolutely demolished it by making a man sized hole. The destruction of Nazarick's walls had not been in vain. All of the underground dwellers had been completely knocked off of him. Laying face first, he reached into his duster and pulled the pin of a Flashbang before turning around and throwing it towards the halls. Though he wore a helmet, he covered his eyes just before the device went off in case it affected him too. He heard the Tunnelers shriek in confusion and panic after it had gone off. He used this as a chance to get up from off the ground and emerge from his hidey-hole. When coming out, he quickly counted eight Tunnelers blindly swiping or running into each other. Had he been watching this from a distance, he might have laughed out loud. But right now...
He brought his Pip-Boy up and began using what made fights go by quick. Implant GRX, Slasher, Med-X, Rushing Water, Weapon Binding Ritual, Buffout, Ant Nectar, and Yao Guai Meat were all consumed in an instant. His vision blurred red and a rush of adrenaline flooded his system.
Breaking into a sprint, he rushed the closest Tunneler just before reeling his leg back and delivering a mighty kick to its head. The force from that alone was enough to send its skull soaring across the halls before rolling along the floor with a trail of blood. He charged another and embedded both of his hands into the top of his skull before pulling it apart sideways, the blood spraying like a fountain. He rushed through them all in his own creative way. One Tunneler experienced what it felt like to get its jaw removed and get its head bashed in with it. It's ally was forced onto the ground before getting its leg removed. Six used that limb to drive it into another's chest. He grabbed both arms of an extra creature, placed his foot on its chest and tore them off. Turning around, he delivered a sucker punch to an incoming Tunneler that caused it to explode into giblets. He terminated the final Tunneler from this original group by throwing it against the wall before driving his knee into its head.
Body trembling and still mad with rage, he whipped around in search of more. All he found was the mess he had left behind. Cracks, holes, and blood on the walls. Blood dripping from the ceiling. Organs and meat on the floor. Eight dead disassembled Tunnelers. And, of course, all the blood that came with it. With his bloodied hands, Six wiped away the stains on his visor as he looked around in search for his taken guns. It didn't take him long to find them all randomly strewn about. He made sure to reload them all and holster them on his person. He felt his body twitch and his hands tremble as the chems still flowed through him. Though his aggression was concentrated and controlled, he knew it could spiral out of control if he didn't keep himself in check.
[Six, report to the Tenth Floor immediately.] A voice - Albedo's - resonated within his head.
He would've responded but felt the communication cut off on his end. Not letting time go to waste, he broke off into a sprint back to the Throne Room for whatever Albedo wanted. It didn't take him long to reach the gates no longer guarded by the golems. He pushed the doors open and walked inside rapidly. He found the Succubus rapidly tapping away at what he believed to be some sort of holographic display. Next to her stood the previously missing golems. What surprised him was the fact that they held all of his weapons on their person
"Choose your most efficient weapons." She spoke seriously but evenly.
These orders made sense, but being hopped up on almost every Chen available didn't make him think too well. He removed and carelessly dropped all of his weapons from his person around the golems as he reached out for the weapons that would quell his thirst for violence. The GRA Chainsaw, Ripper, and Oh, Baby! It went without saying that he had installed the alloy frame, carbide teeth, and a heavy duty chain on the flesh tearer. He ignored the other available weapons while putting the super sledge within his Pip-Boy. He turned to look at Albedo who had glanced at his wrist-mounted device.
"Shalltear's floors have seen most activity by the invaders." A satisfied smile appeared on her face. "Nazarick's defense systems worked as expected. It dealt a heavy blow but their numbers are still quite large."
The holographic-esque pad in the Japanese language disappeared in front of her. In an instant, the elegant white dress she wore soon disappeared and became replaced with a set of pitch black armor protecting every single inch of her body. In her hands lay an equally dark battleaxe.
"To set their filthy feet here…" Her fist shook violently before she focused on him again. "Place your hand on my shoulder."
Without a word, Six approached her and set his hands on her. As soon as he had done so, they both vanished together. Only the golems remained to protect the Throne Room.
…
Shalltear had never been more annoyed. For what felt like an eternity, she had been fighting these humanoids that seemed to have no end. Though their attacks were nothing special, the amount of health they had made them tankier than they had any right to be. She could cleave through a group easily but in a time consuming manner, even with the help of her double - Einherjar. As such she was forced to use more spells. One that proved particularly useful was {Summon Household}. Vampire Bats, Rats, and Wolves were all used to serve as a distraction and chip away at the enemies health. Of course, she wasn't the only line of defense against the intruders. The POP monsters, mainly the Nazarick Guarders, fought alongside her.
Shalltear thrust Spuit Lance forward and penetrated right through the head of a Tunneler. She pulled it out from the hole, the effect of returning unneeded health coming with it. She looked around herself and watched a Master Guarder become overwhelmed by a group before eventually becoming nothing more than fragments of bone. She clicked her tongue and rushed over before raising her arm.
"{Vermillion Nova}!"
Two Tunnelers close to each suddenly went up in flames as a pillar of fire swallowed their bodies whole. The others shrieked in surprise and fear before putting a large distance between their two fallen comrades.
"{Mass Hold Species}!"
But they couldn't flee any further. Paralyzed but unable to fall, they watched the True Vampire come rushing towards them. Shalltear rammed her weapon into one of them but didn't kill it. Completely defenseless, the Tunneler died a painful death as her Spuit Lance attacked it three times before the fourth blow ended its life. With this one dead, she moved on to the next Tunneler. A flash of light to her right caught her attention. She glanced at it and witnessed as Albedo and Courier Six appeared in the Grave.
Facing her direction and with a weapon unfamiliar to her, Six broke off from Albedo and ran right at her. His Chainsaw roared as he rammed it into the body of what he knew to be a Hulking Tunneler and watched it let out a cry of pain as its flesh, organs, and bones were eviscerated by the carbide teeth before he brought it up and split it in two. In fear of her Frenzy being activated, Shalltear leapt back to ensure no blood landed on herself.
"Shalltear!" Albedo's voice caught her attention and forced her to look the She-Devil's way. "Send your familiars down their tunnels. We need to find the summoner!"
"I'm on it!" She yelled back and began using the Blood on the Battlefield to craft more familiars. Being the smallest and less noticeable, she decided on sending Vampire Rats through the mounds before focusing back on the fight.
"QUEEN!" Six snarled loud enough for both of them to hear. "Find the Queen! She Dies, they run!" In his Mania, he drove the Chainsaw into the torso of a Tunneler before raising it into the air and let loose a hysterical war cry as it trembled violently on the teeth before eventually sinking down to the base of the spinning blade.
…
They scurried rapidly down the holes they had been commanded to enter. Small and barely worth a look in the darkness, the Vampire Rats passed many Tunnelers digging more paths to the surface or using ones already created by their brethren. Despite their grand numbers, the winding haphazard tunnels sometimes leading to dead ends made it difficult for them to find the enemy summoner. Luckily for them, the size of their scouting party granted them many chances to happen upon the enemy. It was only mere minutes before they encountered what appeared to be a nest. Dangerously large in size, one could compare this stone dwelling to hold two coliseum worths of individuals. Their beady red eyes made out the birthing grounds where many large Tunnelers guarded their eggs. The moment they laid eyes upon them was the moment the Queens noticed them. Almost in unison, they all shrieked at them and bounded towards them.
…
Realization dawned on Shalltear's face. Though she did not see it, she felt her summons die almost all at once. But she knew where that had occurred.
"I found them!" She turned to look at Albedo. "It's not a summoner! It's a nest underground!"
The Succubus decapitated a Hulking Tunneler, its head shooting blood before falling over. "So we simply kill them all. But the nest needs to be destroyed."
"Show me where!" Six said as he approached Shalltear. The crimson armored vampire focused on the mailman and noted the gore plastered all over his body. He was an absolute {Bloody Mess}.
In response, she summoned another pack of Vampire Rats but less in number. "Follow them. They know the path."
Six looked down at his feet and looked at the pitch black creatures. They in turn looked up at him before they all turned at once and entered one of the specific mounds. The Courier sprinted towards them before tossing his Chainsaw aside and pulling out the Ripper. He threw himself in feet first and disappeared from their sight.
Feverishly crawling through the tunnels, Six heard the squeaking of the rats Shalltear had summoned as he moved through the winding paths at an impressive rate though still trailing behind the superior speed of the vampire rodents. He continued his pace before suddenly feeling something dig down on his legs. He grunted, the pain dulled to something akin to a simple sting. He turned his head and looked at the Hulking Tunneler trying to eviscerate his legs. The Ripper roared to life before he pitched it behind himself. The shredding device landed into the creature's left eye which caused it to screech in pain. With it still alive, the Courier fully turned and tackled it to the ground. As the Ripper tore through, he gripped the Tunneler's neck with both hands before and began squeezing. In it's desperation for life, the brute painfully removed the Ripper with its free hand before shoving it into the side of Six's torso. The Courier growled in pain before removing one hand from its neck and placing his grip onto its limb. With one swift motion, he bent the arm in the opposite direction, the sinew and bone exposing themselves. He then yanked the Ripper from his body before placing it on the enemy's neck. He watched it die in only a matter of seconds before it stopped thrashing.
He let out a sigh before turning his whole body back around and going onward. The Vampire Rats had patiently waited for him to finish his battle before going onwards once more. He found no more resistance as continued down the subterranean passages. It took only a minute more before he eventually encountered what the rats had previously. He exited the hole before coming into a grand cave filled to the brim with countless black eggs being defended by their mothers. All the Queens focused on him before shrieking and retreating further into burrows much larger than themselves. Were he not hopped up on every drug conceived by mankind, he would have certainly found it more than strange. Instead, he sheathed his Ripper and summoned his Chainsaw instead. In his fervor, he charged forward, his heavy stomps against the stone promising them death. He ran straight into the 6 meter hole...
Six dropped his Chainsaw when he felt a devastating force upon his chest. Like a ball of paper soaring through a classroom, Six went across the cavern before crashing against a wall. Air no longer in his body lungs, he gasped violently in search for any and all oxygen. He tried standing up but realized his nerves had taken a hit as well. That and he felt his broken ribs stabbing away within. He brought his Pip-Boy up and looked at his condition. 20% of his health was gone and his torso had been crippled. He quickly popped a stimpak before slowly beginning to stand and look up at whomever had gotten a good blow on him.
The creature responsible for the damage came out from passage and fully revealed itself. It was a Tunneler no doubt but it had many differences over the others. For starters, it resembled something more humanoid and stood on two of its legs. Smaller bioluminescent eyes, more rounded eyes, bulging muscles and toned body, it stood four meters tall and showed off the jagged spikes on its head, shoulders and back. It regarded Six for a moment before it picked up the Chainsaw with both hands.
This is a Tunneler Alpha Male.
It revved it up before breaking into a sprint. Thinking fast, Six summoned Oh, Baby! from his Pip-Boy before bringing it up to defend himself.
…
It had only been a day since he left Nazarick and already there was another incident.
"{Chain Dragon Lightning}!"
The Tunnelers below him yelled in pain as the countless number of volts spread throughout their bodies and cooked them from the inside.
He had only just arrived back to Nazarick before using teleportation to show up on the Third Floor. Almost all the POP monsters in Shalltear's residency had been wiped out by the invaders. From what he had seen thus far, he felt these invaders were somewhere around Level 60 in terms of strength. These variants at least.
Initially, he feared the Enclave had somehow gotten a read on their location. He wouldn't lie, a boiling hot anger directed at Six came alongside with it. He had been assured by the Courier they wouldn't be any wiser to their whereabouts. But once Albedo explained the situation further, any potentially lost goodwill to the mailman soon came back when he heard that unknown crawling creatures had burrowed into the underground tomb.
"{Hell Flame}!"
A small shot of fire came out from Ainz's skeletal hands before it latched onto one of the previously stunned Hulking Tunnelers. The small flame soon erupted into a great fire quickly covering the entirety of its body. Completely in panic, the Tunneler flailed and bumped into its own ally's. It took only a moment of contact for the fire to slowly begin eating away at their flesh. In mere seconds the whole group had turned into living torches. But unlike torches, they all turned into nothing but fine black bone powder.
"Their numbers dwindle. Keep up the pressure." Ainz ordered from beside Albedo who, with a small group of Skeleton Master Guards, surrounded their master in order to guarantee his safety. They had boxed him in with Albedo naturally closest to him. This was done in order to allow him to cast as many buffs on himself as possible which he had already done. Of course, even with that done they insisted on protecting him at all costs.
"They will not lay a finger on you, Ainz-sama!" Albedo said aloud whilst in front of him.
"More are on the way!" Shalltear yelled out after killing a hulker.
True to her word, Ainz felt the ground beneath him begin to tremble. Through the bones of his guard, he was able to make the emerging scaly bipeds. But these ones in particular were larger, much larger than the Hulking Tunnelers from earlier. One turned to look straight at him. Maybe it had been his imagination, but he swore they locked eyes for a second. The Queen near them shrieked as it bounded towards at a surprising speed. His Guard faced the creature and prepared to defend. Except, they did not get a chance to do so. The Tunneler cut them down in one swipe and broke through. Albedo, fast as ever, reacted by heading forward and engaging it in battle. With her battleaxe, she prevented a chomp from landing on her before flipping her weapon masterfully and forcing it to fall onto the ground. It would have sprung back up immediately.
"{Grasp Heart}"
The beating organ in question appeared in Ainz's hands before he crushed in one go.
The Queen squealed but did not die from the spell. Of course, resisting it still allowed for a stun status. It was an effect Albedo took full advantage of. Her battleaxe came down on the head multiple times before she eventually killed it in it's defenselessness (what a word).
The sound of stone breaking sporadically caught his attention. Ainz turned around just in time to witness the ground explode. From it, two individuals sprang forth. One was someone he recognized - Courier Six. The other was a humanoid very similar but different than the other creatures here. Alarm bells rang within Ainz's mind. He was getting boss vibes from the new Tunneler in front of him.
"{Life Essence}"
Were he not a skeleton, his eyes just might've popped from his head. 1250 HP! This was definitely their leader. The boss of these creatures. To say this enemy was a high priority now was an understatement. It needed to be dealt with now. "{Fly}!" He yelled before going into the air.
"Ainz-sama!" Albedo's worried voice reached him.
"Keep these creatures away from Six and I." He turned back to look at the Courier who had come to a standstill with the Alpha Tunneler wielding a Chainsaw. The Succubus followed his line of sight. "He will need my assistance."
"But what if you are struck?! To see you feel pain again-"
"Is an inevitability. It is not a matter of if but when." He chuckled. "Have you no faith in your master?"
"Of course I do!" She nearly screamed.
"Then watch as I become victorious." He began moving away. "The strength of Ainz Ooal Gown will be made known today!"
…
Six stabbed himself with a Super Stimpak, his body stiffening in the process. He let it all go in before yanking it out and throwing it on the ground. He felt his wounds begin to seal up before he refocused himself on the Tunneler in front of him. The enemy revved its Chainsaw and began slowly walking towards him. He was tempted to pull up his Pip-Boy and apply himself with more unhealthy consumables but felt the Alpha Tunneler would attack him the moment he did. It was certainly more intelligent than the others. He had underestimated it and the others. First the Ripper on his torso and now the Chainsaw against Oh, Baby! too. It had been a while since he had properly repaired it and the damage against its condition only made it worse.
"Must have…" A rasp came from the Alpha. It's eyes fell on his super sledge.
"I'll let you have it alright." He flipped it in his hands before taking a stance.
"Human will die!" It answered back before starting the Chainsaw and rushing forward.
"{Vermillion Nova}!"
The Chainsaw Tunneler stopped dead in its track when a pillar of flames suddenly exploded underneath it. It took damage but felt only minor burns on itself. Six turned to his left and looked above to see the All-Powerful Overlord floating above them both.
"Do not gawk, Hall! Prepare yourself for this fight!" He shouted.
Realizing what he meant, Six brought up his Pip-Boy and began going scrolling through his consumables.
The Alpha wanted to prevent that from happening. It moved as fast it could to the Courier.
"{Hold of Ribs}!" Ainz yelled.
The Tunneler soon found itself surrounded by the sharp trying to penetrate its thick hide. It released a guttural shriek before using the Chainsaw to cut through them with relative ease. It only took three seconds for it to escape before going back in its original path.
"{Wall of-"
The Alpha turned its head and sprayed a high-speed liquid in Ainz direction. The Overlord attempted a dodge but ended up grazed by it. He felt it eating and burning away at his bones. There was no mistaking it, this was Acid.
Six put down his Pip-Boy. The buffs he currently had were still active except WBR (Weapon Binding Ritual) and had at least 4 minutes left before they disappeared. Which is why he didn't bother reapplying. Instead, he added: Battle Brew, Sierra Madre Martini, Mentats, Fire Ant Nectar and WBR.
His vision turned blood red for a moment before normal colors took precedence. He watched the Alpha open its mouth and shoot something from it. He dipped to the ground and avoided the acid just in time. He heard the reviving of his own chainsaw above himself he rolled to his left and avoided the shredding teeth. He swung the sledge alongside the ground, dealing damage and knocking the creature off its feet. Even so, it flipped backwards and used the chainsaw to land flawlessly on its hands before standing upright. Six rolled sideways and stood up as well.
They looked at one another for a moment. Before Six decided to take the initiative. He leapt into the air and brought down Oh, Baby! on it. The Tunneler brought the saw up and watched as sparks came from the clashing metal. The Alpha raised its leg and threw a kick. Six spun away from the attack with his weapon and used {Grand Slam}. It connected with the Tunneler but the majority of the damage had been negated. The force from the blow alone caused a shockwave that sent it flying across. It crashed into an upright coffin, the Chainsaw still in its hands.
"{Hell Flame}!" Ainz yelled.
The dark red flame slowly drifted through the air before it touched the coffin the Alpha lay in. A painful shriek soon echoed throughout the floor. In response, all the other Queens who had yet to emerge, all responded in at once by unexpectedly exploding from the ground all around the area. Six looked around himself and quickly counted an estimate of at most twenty of them. They all let out their war cries before engaging the residents of Nazarick.
"It seems things are getting out of hand." Ainz muttered. "{Summon Undead 10th}!"
Ainz motioned with his hands before two entities known as Elemental Skulls slowly emerged on the battlefield. The floating skulls grinned as they raised themselves higher off the ground. They both let off a light show of blue, green, red and yellow as their summoner mentally relayed his orders. And they obeyed. Both oversized skulls opened their mouths and unleashed {Mist of Super Acid} on the Queens below them.
"{Black Hole!}" The said anomaly appeared just below him and sucked some of the Queens in but didn't instantly kill them. However, that wasn't the intent. Once they were all grouped up, Ainz ordered his Elemental Skulls to attack both at once with {Vermillion Nova}. This supersized tower of fire quickly consumed the Queens. Their screams overlapped with one another as their bodies began melting from the heat. The Overlord wasn't done yet.
"{Thousand Bone Lance}!"
Countless amounts of spears crafted from bones launched themselves downwards and impaled themselves into the bodies of the Queens already on the brink of death. Ainz didn't have to check his MP to know that he was about halfway through it. He ignored the dying forms of the Queens before turning to look at Six.
The mailman in question watched as the flame engulfing the Tunneler suddenly disappeared, an invisible force expelling the effect. It walked out from the coffin and stared down the Courier. It revved the Chainsaw in its hands before suddenly glowing a bright red color and then charging him.
Instead of playing defensively, he ran straight towards the Alpha to meet him halfway. He raised his super sledge and the Tunneler his Chainsaw. Six swung first and sideways towards the head. The Tunneler blocked it with the saw and retaliated by throwing itself forward and biting down on Six's shoulder. The mailman felt the incredibly sharp teeth Pierce through his armor before cutting away at his flesh. He removed one of his hands from the oversized hammer and towards his Ripper. He swiftly pressed it into the Alpha's stomach and watched it shred through the hide. The Tunneler rasped, releasing his teeth from his shoulder. In anger it raised the chainsaw, pressed it against Six's side and let it shred through the armor and flesh.
The roaring saw and pain on his side forced the Courier to drop the sledge and put a hand on the front handle and shoved it away from himself. This diversion allowed him to open its mouth and spray acid directly onto his helm. The liquid immediately melted through the visor first and revealed the manic eyes of the Courier. Despite the attack, Six did not recoil but instead used the good part of the helm to headbutt the Alpha with all his strength. It effectively worked as a quick stun that allowed him to reel his fist back and sucker punch the scaly biped on its jaw. The Alpha recoiled backwards and spun but did not fall over.
Still not willing to let up, the Courier removed his helmet and pitched it towards the creature. It landed square on its face, bouncing off of it and going into the air. He ran and leapt up, catching in the air before bringing it down on the Alpha's head. A savage crack came from both the helmet and the creature's head. Stunning the Tunneler even more, Six stepped forward and delivered a kick to the torso that sent it backpedaling before he broke into a sprint and executed a drop kick directly on its head. It was here that the biped was sent off its feet and flew back, dropping the chainsaw in the process. Six flipped in the air backwards and landed on his feet. Without turning around, he walked backwards and picked up Oh, Baby! with one hand. The Courier then gripped it with both hands before reeling it behind himself and launched it towards the sprawled Alpha. It landed directly on the creatures back, the shockwave causing the ground underneath to crack from the force.
Six huffed out and grabbed the Chainsaw on the ground before holstering it on his back. He drew one of many hidden throwing knives before bringing up his Pip-Boy and summoning one Mother Darkness. He undid the top and dropped the entirety of the liquid on the blade. In one swift move, he hurled it at the Alpha and landed it directly on its neck. The Tunneler, still getting on its feet, shrieked when the knife embedded itself. It grunted when it gripped the blade and pulled it out. It managed to get on its feet before suddenly feeling its muscles freeze up before falling on one knee and one hand. It began to let out raspy breaths, its lungs struggling against the frozen muscles. It couldn't even move its head to look up at the human slowly approaching him. But it could hear the engine of the Chainsaw. It took a few seconds for Six to walk up.
He started the Chainsaw and pressed it against the Alpha's torso. It could only roar out loud as the terry chewed the tough hide and teared through its flesh.
Six yelled as he used all his strength to shove the saw inside of the creature's abdomen. It went through the gut and out the other side and continued eating away. He picked up Oh, Baby! from off the floor and held it on both hands. Taking a stance similar to a designated hitter, he brought the super sledge down sharply and slammed it into the back of the Chainsaw. The Tunneler felt the carbide blade and teeth sink further into its stomach. Six reeled back again and this time smashed the oversized hammer onto the side of the Alpha's head, forcing it to roughly fall sideways. Six raised Oh, Baby! and brought it down on the Tunneler's head. The force alone created more cracks on the ground. He put the hammer into the air again and let it fall. He repeated this multiple times over and over until he finally saw the brain become exposed from the shattered skull.
He breathed out heavily before dropping the super sledge and getting on one knee to turn off the Chainsaw which he retracted from the Alpha's gut. He moved the weapon away and watched as the creature slowly gasped and bleed out before his feet. It was on the verge of death.
"Hall."
A voice caused him to snap his head in that direction. Mere feet away, Ainz stood. He looked past the Overlord and at the battlefield before them. Charred corpses, ash piles, severed limbs and heads, bones of POP monsters and their dropped weapons, holes along the ground and general bloodshed was all he saw. Six didn't realize it, but he looked absolutely mad. He was covered in so much gore and the smell that came with it. His eyes jittered and his muscles spasmed. He wasn't tired. He was more than ready to fight.
"It's over." Ainz looked down at the Alpha. "Shall I finish it?"
The Courier shook his head in. He brought his Pip-Boy up and summoned a nice cold refreshing bottle of Sunset Sarsaparilla. He approached the fallen Alpha, took a knee and forced its jaw open. He placed the tip of the cap at the top of its sharp tooth before removing it in one swift move. He brought the bottle to his lips and chugged it rapidly in front of it. He let out a low but satisfied exhale before flipping it in his heads and smashing the glass bottle over the Alpha's head. Shattering into pieces, he used the jagged remains of glass and jammed it into the brain, the blood shooting out over him. It died on the spot. Six stood back up and turned his head to look at Ainz.
"What a day, huh?"
