It is time for chapter 3! Thanks to all of you who have supported the story.
I'm planning for this story to go until either the start of the sports festival or the end of the sports festival. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not re-writing the entire show. (So I would expect less than 20 chapters)
"Now, let's get this set straight." All Might said to Ochaco. "You think you're ready for my quirk? Once you jump in, there is no going back."
Ochaco nodded, rubbing her sweaty hands on her yoga pants. "I know that. But I'm ready!"
"I guess you still have a few weeks before the entrance exams, so I will be able to train your power."
Ochaco nodded and opened her arms wide. "Hit me with it!"
All Might buffed up and smiled. "That's not how it works, young Ochaco. You must digest part of my DNA."
Ochaco felt bile rise in her throat and forced it down. "Like eat it?"
"Yes. In this case…" All Might plucked a hair from his head. "A stand of my hair!"
Ochaco gagged and shook her head. "That's so gross!"
"Listen, do you want my quirk or not? I have already told you too much, and if you say no I will have no other option than for you to swear to secrecy."
"Ok fine. Give it here." Ochaco said.
"Here."
Ochaco took the hair, folded it in two and popped it down her throat. After swallowing, she raised an eyebrow. "I don't feel any different."
"It should kick in after a few hours, because you still need to digest it." All Might replied.
"Makes sense. So what do I do in the meantime?" Ochaco asked.
"I think you deserve some free time. You have been working your butt off for over nine months, you deserve a bit of freetime."
"Ok. Where will you be going." Ochaco said as All Might turned and started to walk away.
"I have...something I need to attend to. I will be back in a few hours. Don't use One for All until I get back."
Ochaco walked to the local park, sitting on a bench. She ran her hands through her hair and contemplated how much her life had changed. She still was going to become a hero, but even with her getting another quirk?
The very thought was insane to her, yet it was her reality. A soft breeze blew, stirring up some of the first fallen leaves of autumn.
After a few minutes Ochaco was awoken from her half-awake sleep by a loud yell and the sound of footsteps.
"Thief! Stop him!" An elderly woman yelled. "He took my purse!"
Ochaco got up and started to sprint toward the thief, pulling on some leather gauntlets she had made to reduce cuts on her hands from working at the beach.
Ochaco drove her fist into the man's back, pushing him to the ground. He dropped the purse and started to struggle, unable to accept the fact that he was beaten by a teenage girl.
"Let me go!" He snarled. "You have no idea how much my power can hurt you! I can shatter your entire nervous system without breaking a sweat!"
"Please," Ochaco said sadly. "Don't try to resist, you're only going to hurt more people and get yourself a longer jail sentence."
"Never!" Suddenly Ochaco was blown back by a strange wind, something powerful. She hit a nearby tree with a thud, her head ringing. Grimacing with pain, she stood up. The man didn't run, even though he had the purse. He wanted to fight.
"If it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get!" Ochaco yelled.
She drew back her arm, ready to punch the man in the solar plexus. Suddenly her arm, heck, her entire body felt strange. A weird energy filled her body, making a small crackling sound as it gathered power. Is this One For All? She thought. Well, it's too late now!
Her fist slammed into the man, her aim disrupted by the new energy. The man was sent back, his shoulder badly dislocated and in immense pain.
The crowd of onlookers gasped in shock at the power of the girl's quirk. Ochaco looked up, unbelieving of what happened. I'm that powerful?
Then she looked at her arm, wondering how bruised her knuckles would be from a punch that powerful. She gasped in shock and teared up from the sight. Her arm from the shoulder to the tips of her fingers was all red, the bones jutting out at awkward angles.
Filled with fear, pain and embarrassment, she ran off.
"So you used it?" All Might stated disapprovingly. "I told you not to do anything that would involve using One for All!"
Ochaco teared up. "I'm sorry!" She cried. "I couldn't help it! It just turned itself on!"
All Might put his hand on her shoulder and smiled. "It's ok. I'm pretty sure everybody was too confused to find out who you are."
Ochaco looked down and her shoulders sagged. "I just feel so bad for the guy I hit. He's probably dead."
"You hit his shoulder. Sure, his arm is badly dislocated and fractured, but he is still alive."
Ochaco sighed. "That's a relief. How will my arm get fixed?"
"We'll go to the hospital and get you in a cast. After that, time will heal your wounds."
Ochaco got up from the bench, her arm dangling uselessly from her side. "Let's go then."
They both walked to the hospital, Ochaco hiding her injury with an old sweater.
They walked inside, being beckoned over by a worker. Ohaco walked into the doctor's office, All Might sitting down in his true form by the door.
"So, Miss..?" The doctor's voice trailed off.
"Ochaco." The girl finished.
"And what happened?" He asked.
"I got in a fight with….some old friends from my school." Ochaco lied. "One of them had a quirk and hit my arm with it. I don't know what quirk it was."
"Well, I might as well do an examination. What quirk do you have anyway?" The doctor said.
"It disables gravity for objects I touch…" She said dazily. He nodded toward a nearby cot and gestured for hey to lay down. Ochaco laid down on the cot, her broken arm dangling off the side.
After pulling on some gloves and pulling up a computer program, he drifted his chair over to her side. After touching her broken arm for a few minutes, he sighed and typed some data into his computer. He went back to the examination, dragging a strange white film over her chest and head, leaving her arm exposed. He ran a bright blue light over her arm and a picture on his monitor.
"I have to put something in your arm. Don't move, for both our sakes." The doctor said. He took out a needle and injected it into her, at the soft part of the armpit. Ochaco was instantly filled with a blissful feeling, like she was in the sky on a cloud. She closed her eyes, imagining a soft breeze flying around her.
The doctor shook his head in surprise and pressed a button on his desk, calling into his intercom. "We need surgeons at station J for an arm injury ASAP!"
Almost half a minute later Ochaco was rushed into a medical room, being changed into a medical gown while the surgeons set up the room.
The last thing Ochaco remembered before blacking out was a needle being plunged into her thigh.
Ochaco awoke with All might standing beside her, smiling. It was a smile of relief, and a smile that said:'you're going to be okay'.
"What happened?" Ochaco asked groggily.
"The doctor told me that the breaking in your arms was so severe that they had to resent the bones via surgery. I never had that problem, so I assume it's just because your body needs to get used to your quirk."
"How much did it cost?" Ochaco asked miserably.
"Not too much. Money that I get from my hero work will cover everything. You won't have to pay a coin."
"Really?" Ochaco asked excitedly.
"Yes, really. After all," All Might said, "you are the future for this quirk."
Ochaco nodded and leaned her head back, the paper-like medical gown ruffling as she moved. "How much longer am I stuck here?"
"Well, I told the doctors that you don't have a closeby home, so they have rented you one of the rooms upstairs. I won't be with you, unfortunately."
Too tired to reply, Ochaco closed her eyes. "I think I'm gonna sleep for a bit…"
She was asleep before the minute was over.
"She's so calm, isn't she?" A nearby nurse said.
"Yes." All Might agreed, still in his true form. "She is very calm and peaceful."
"I HATE BEING STUCK UP HERE!" The calm and peaceful Ochaco yelled in anger, throwing her pillow at the floor with her good arm. "It's so boring!"
All Might shook his head. "Don't complain. If you weren't up here and doing your exercises, your arm would have to be reset."
"I know I know." Ochaco said.
"I can tell you've changed over the last few weeks. This is your last day here, and the UA entrance exams follow short after. But that can't be it. Something else is troubling you."
Ochaco sighed and looked outside her window, watching the world around her move along. "I just feel so responsible now. I have this power, and I can't even use it without breaking my bones."
"Once you learn to control it, it will be a great ally."
Ochaco sighed and walked to her window, taking note of the large school in the distance. "That's UA, right?"
All Might nodded slowly. "Yes."
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. It was a nurse who was holding a tablet and a few papers. "Miss Ochaco?"
Ochaco turned toward the door. "Yes?"
"Your X-rays just came in and the doctor thinks you're ready to be released."
Ochaco was overjoyed. "Yay!"
All Might nodded his thanks and, after lots of paperwork, they were let out.
Both of them were on the beach, training.
All Might picked up a wooden board he had purchased and held it up. "Listen up. The way you used your quirk before was probably at over one hundred percent. That's why your arm broke so bad."
"How can something get over 100%? Isn't 100 the limit?"
"Not in this case. Here, percents are just a way to measure power. Somebody with your muscle structure can probably only handle 5%."
"Oh, okay. Understood." Ochaco said. "So what do you want me to do with the board?"
Punch it. No quirks, no nothing."
Ochaco nodded and brought her fist back, her now-healed arm shaking with the effort. As fast as she could manage, she drove her fist into the center of the board. It broke with a cracking sound and All Might was left with 2 small boards in each hand.
"Good, good." All Might slowly clapped. "Now. I want you to fight me. No quirks."
Ochaco nodded, knowing it was useless to beg for another thing to do.
Taking out a stick from a nearby buch, the No.1 hero drew a line in the sand. "First person out of this circle loses. Go!" The last word was yelled with a shout and it galvanized Ochaco into action.
Spinning on one foot, she swung her right knee into her mentor's chest. Nothing happened. Suddenly her leg was grabbed and she was slammed into the sand, out of breath.
"The Entrance exams are tomorrow." All Might said. "You may be strong, but you are not guaranteed to enter. Good luck."
All Might left, leaving Ochaco out of breath in the sand.
And that is the end of this chapter! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks to all of you who have favorited and followed the story.
