Chapter 5! I apologize if any characters have different personalities, the reason why is that I only read the manga.
Ochaco walked into her new classroom, taking no notice of her new classmates at all. Her gaze was directed to the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with anybody. Not after what happened.
Flashback begins..
Ochaco calmly opened the door to her house, ready to tell her parents that she got into UA. "Mom?" She called. No reply...strange.
The car was in the driveway, so somebody must be home. Walking into the living room, Ochaco looked around.
There were two people on the ground, blood staining the floor.
"Mom! Dad!" She cried. Running over to her parents, she hurriedly began to check for a pulse. There was none.
After trying over and over again for a few minutes, Ochaoc leaned back, her shirt and hands covered in blood.
"No!" She cried out. She clenched her hands into fists and punched the floor, her knuckles red and bleeding when she was done. Soon she heard footsteps.
"Hello, Ochaco." The new person said. "My name is Tomura, nice to meet you."
"Why!?" She screamed. "Why did you kill my parents!?"
"You thought your secrets were safe?" he mocked. "I've known about your new quirk, and I also know how untrained you are with it."
"What are you saying?" Ochaco asked angrily.
"Join me, and you will be able to get all the money you need. I'm not sure how you will spend it though."
Those words resonated in her mind. If my only goal as a hero was to help my parents, what do i do now that they're gone? She thought.
"I know what I have to do now." Ochaco said, her voice deadpan. "I may not be able to help my parents anymore, but I will avenge them with all my might!"
She leapt toward Tomura, swinging her knife in a backhanded stroke. Instead of splitting his neck like she had hoped, he grabbed the blade. The metal turned brown, then shattered.
"Don't be foolish." Tomura said.
Ochaco got up and turned toward the door, ready to run. Tomura sneered. "Go run. We will see each other again."
Flashback ends
Ochaco sat down, mindlessly scribbling on a piece of lined paper. A strange, yellow-haired boy with a black lightning bolt in it walked up to her.
"Hey, cutie! I'm Kaminari!" He called. "Mind if I sit beside you?"
Ochaco didn't say anything, completely ignoring her classmate. Soon another boy walked in. Half of his hair was red, and the other half was white. He had one large scar around one of his eyes, and each eye was a different color.
He sat down on Ochaco's other side, pulling out some notebooks. Ochaco pretended not to notice or care about anything, but how could she be a hero if she didn't have the spirit for it?
A single tear escaped her eye and she shook it away, trying to think of other things. The one thing that hurt her heart the most was the funeral. Or at least the lack of it. Due to money problems, there wasn't a funeral.
Ochaco was pulled out of her thoughts by somebody entering the door.
"Hello everybody. It took you thirty seconds to shut up. That isn't going to work."
Ochaco straightened her back and stared at the teacher, waiting for him to continue talking.
"My name is Mr. Aizawa, and I will be teaching you. Here are your schedules."
Ochaco looked the schedule over and noted the special events listed on the side. Orientation, it read, first day, first class.
"Everybody go to the locker rooms and change into your gym uniforms. Meet me outside in the training field."
Ochaco nodded and followed the other girls to the locker room. She noted the difference in each person's attitude.
The one with head-phone jacks dangling from her ears had a deadpan expression. The one with pink skin and horns was happy, energy flowing from each of her steps. Then there was a tall, black haired girl who had the atmosphere of a polite and determined person.
Soon everybody was gathered outside, the teacher standing in front of the group.
"Okay. Here you will all undertake some tests. The person with the lowest score.." Shota ran his hand through his messy, black hair. "Will be expelled."
Ochaco took in a deep breath and focused, pleading with her quirk that she wouldn't break her limbs.
"First up, Ochaco Uraraka. You scored the highest on the entrance exam, so you go first."
Ochaco walked up to the teacher, waiting for more instruction. He continued talking. "Throw this ball as far as you can. Use your quirk."
Ochaco took the ball and tried to use her gravity quirk. Tried. As she threw the ball, both of her quirks seemed to be activated at once. The ball flew off, flying faster than a F1 racer. And the ball was in zero gravity.
Aizawa's eyes opened in shock. He showed the class the counter. "As you can see here," he explained, "her quirk is so powerful it broke the counter. That means that the ball went so far in so little time that the computer couldn't calculate it."
The entire class was shocked. Those who had been present at the faux city when Ochaco was there (Like Tenya) were still amazed.
"Just another person in my path." Katsuki thought.
Shota Aizawa put the phone back in his pocket and the class began the tests. Ochaco exceeded in all tests, besides the grip test and seated toe touch. The running was close, but she used her little trick called gravity skip. (Shown in chapter 2) She had noticed that very small amounts of One for All were present whenever she used her first quirk, but randomly the amount would increase. The only time she came close to breaking a bone was during the long jump. One for all had built up in her legs, boosting her in the air. She used her gravity quirk just in time so she wouldn't go splat on the sand.
As the class scores were pulled up, a small, purple haired boy stomped his feet in the ground. "It's not fair!" He protested. "Just because I got last doesn't mean I should be kicked out!"
Shota shook his head. "I was just joking, but I don't like whiners. Heroes don't complain."
"That's so unfair!" The invisible girl said. "You can't just kick him out!"
"Well, the thing is." Shota said as he stepped toward her. "This is UA, and I can teach as I want. Keeping somebody like Mineta in the hero course would be next to useless." His voice fell to a whisper, but everybody could still hear. "If I were you, I would be content I wasn't last."
Shota walked past All Might, his students going back in the locker rooms to change.
"Shota!" All Might scolded. "You can't just expel somebody!"
"I saw you looking through the records. You know that I expelled a full class because they had no potential." Shota replied.
"So what kept you from spelling them all this time!?" All Might replied with heat.
"I kept all who had potential. I can't help myself but wonder," Shota took a deep breath and smiled, "Your attention was focused on Ochaco. It's a bit too early to show favoritism."
All Might took a deep breath. "I have to admit, I think she has the most potential."
Shota smiled. "They all do. You better teach them well in the afternoon."
The day continued without much excitement. Luckily, school kept Ochaco's mind off her parents death, but now and then she would tear up.
Now, she was eating lunch in the cafeteria. She had planned to eat alone, but all of the tables had at least one person. So, she seeked out her classmates and saw Shoto. After asking if she could eat with him, she sat down.
"Hey, Shoto." She said.
"Hi." He replied crispily. "Good job on the tests."
Ochaco blushed. "You did good as well."
Shoto swallowed his bite of food. "Thanks."
"So…." Ochaco started. "What's your quirk?"
Shoto scowled, but, seeing she was going to ask again, he replied. "Fire and Ice. I can use both at will, but I don't use fire."
"Why not?"
"It's my fathers power. I feel that by not using fire, I defy everything that he gave to me." Shoto scolded himself for being so open to his classmate. "What about you?"
"I can...uh...disable gravity." She said. Almost told him about One for All, she thought, oops.
Shoto stared at her. "And add an extra boost when you do?"
"No, but yes?" Ochaco suggested.
Shoto looked at her, confused.
Ochaco thought of a lie and said it. "My quirk has been acting strange lately. It looks like I can sometimes manipulate air particles as well, and even the doctors don't know what's going on."
"Strange." The half-and-half quirk user replied. His voice then fell to a more serious tone. "So why are you a hero?"
"I...I don't know anymore." Ochaco said. It felt so good to just let her emotions out, but she was worried Shoto would think condescendingly of her. "I had my goals set straight, but then…." Ochaco buried her head onto the table, tears seeping out of her eyes.
Shoto waited. He decided to answer his own question, and give Ochaco time to recover. "I'm a hero so I can stand up to people like my father. I want to stand up against the people who are like him."
Ochaco looked up and wiped her tears away. "My parents died. My original goal was to give them all the money I made so they could live better, but now I don't know. I guess I just needed to do something in my life."
They finished their meals in silence. As they were both getting ready to leave, Shoto spoke up. "I have been thinking," he said, "Don't you think your quirk is the most powerful? You could change the entire solar system if you were strong enough,"
Ochaco tried to smile. "I think controlling fire and ice could do way more damage. Just think about it-freezing the entire earth over and melting it! That would be crazy!"
"I guess. Let's head back to class."
Soon the entire class was lined up, all dressed in their hero uniforms. Ochaco had chosen a midnight-blue jumpsuit with pressure on her pressure points. She had also chosen sneakers, with springs built in to distribute kinetic energy created from landing.
All Might was standing in front of them, dressed in his Silver Age costume.
"Okay everybody! It's time for battle training! Here, you will be set into groups of two. One group will have to protect a fake missile for 5 minutes, while the other group has five minutes to capture it. Groups will be decided by drawing lots!" He took out a box and pulled two papers from it. "Team one! Ochaco and Shoto! Those two will be fighting…. Bakugou and Tenya!"
Ochaco took a deep breath of air and looked at Shoto. His face clearly said one thing. Let me handle this.
Ochaco moved beside Shoto and whispered in his ear. "Let's do this together. We were put in teams for a reason."
Shoto nodded, his face grim. "Fine."
The four students walked to the faux-city, all the others going to some bunker. Bakugou and Tenya ran into the building, leaving the hero team alone.
"So what's the plan?" Ochaco asked.
"Simple. I make a large chunk of Ice and you float it. We ride it to the top and clear it downward. I would like to freeze the whole thing, but Bakugou could just melt it."
"I can use my stronger ability and take them down if we run into them."
"True." Shoto replied.
A loud horn blared, starting the training match.
And that is the end of this chapter! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or comments.
