Chapter 16
Marcus POV
Three days. Three days till the last task, and until Dumbledore will let us go back to Camp with the other demigods. We had been given special permission to leave school early, and I was ecstatic!
I sighed. We were hanging out by the Black Lake, while Fleur and Vicktor were hanging out with their non-halfbloodian friends.
Cedric had been unusually quiet, and hadn't made any comment when I sent Oliver slamming into a tree! He just handed him a square of ambrosia, and went back to staring aimlessly at the glittering surface of the lake.
"Cccedddrrriiiccc!" Dennis whined. "Pansy's being mmeeeeeaaaannnnn!"
Cedric didn't move. "Ask Oliver." He whispered. Dennis pouted but did as he said, walking over to Oliver in order to vent his problems.
I was currently hiding in a tree, which was one of my many favorite pastimes.
Cho walked over to her boyfriend, and offered him a glass of nectar. "Cedric you've been watching the lake for hours! You're starting to worry everyone. What's wrong?" She asked.
He sighed. "I'm fine. I promise." He assured her.
Cho shook her head. "Alright. I'm gonna spar with Katie…" She started to walk away. "Are you sure you're alright?"
"Yes…" Cedric breathed, though his voice sounded uncertain.
I frowned. He was clearly not alright. I jumped down from my tree, and landed besides him.
He didn't even flinch! That normally would have sent him into a tisy, and gotten me yelled at. My frown deepened.
Cedric sighed after a few moments. "Do you need somthing Marcus?" He asked in a resigned voice.
"Yeah." I said confidently. "To know why you're being passive, just blew off your girlfriend, and didn't bat an eyelash when Dennis got upset."
The jerk didn't even look up. "I have a bad feeling Marcus…" He whispered.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He sighed again! I'm seriously done with his exasperation! "I had a dream…" He shook his head.
"Voldemort is rising." I acknowledged. I had a dream too. Same one probably.
"Yes… but we all knew that… I'm talking about one in which I died." W-what?!
"You know as well as I Marcus that demigod dreams are as good as prophecies."
I shook with fear. No. He-he wasn't going to die! "W-why are you telling me this?!" I asked. Me-me of all people?!
"Oliver will have to lead you all once I'm gone… I die saving Lavender, and I wouldn't want to go any other way, than protecting one of my friends, my family." Cedric shook his head.
"You know Oliver can't keep a secret. Lavender will be broken. Cho wouldn't believe me. And I wouldn't want to give this burden to anyone else." Cedric stood up, and gave me a sad look.
"You will need to carry my final message." He told me. "Tell them I love them, all of them… Tell them to carry on, and defeat Voldy."
Marcus was crying at this point. "Alright."
Marcus awoke with a jolt, tears running down his face. That was a memory of the day before Cedric's death. And he hadn't delivered the message yet.
But he would. He promised himself that. In the morning. He would. He would.
