"I wanna meet your friends from Hollywood Arts." Tori spoke softly as we lay in bed. Her fingers moved delicately across my own hands as her eyes gradually met mine. Jett lay still fast asleep beside me.

"You've met them." I replied hastily, moving my hand away from hers. Tori had met them the night we met, not like they would have taken much notice to her, they were all under the influence and she didn't hang around long enough to even make an impression on them. But she had met them and they had met her.

"That was weeks ago. I don't even remember their names and I doubt they remember mine!" Tori whined. "Won't they be at the party on Saturday?"

I shook my head. "They are just my school friends, they don't like my outside of school peers."

"Why?"

"You sound like my brother. Always asking annoying questions." I joked, pointing to the sleeping child beside me.

"Is he ok?" Tori said finally changing the subject, much to my pleasure. Her eye's diverted over to the sleeping boy beside me, a sympathetic look consuming her face.

I stroked the hair off his forehead, revealing his sleeping face. He always looks so vulnerable when he sleeps. He's so innocent and naive to the horrible world thats around him, but when he sleeps he's in total peace, like nothing can hurt him. "He always is."

"He sure can sleep through a lot!" Tori half smiled, her eyes focused on Jett.

"Yeah." I lied. He'd hardly slept last night and we both knew that. Once he'd drifted off I could feel him tossing and turning the majority of the night.

"I can't sleep when you two are blabbering on!" Jett mumbled into the pillow, opening one eye and glaring at me, a smirk on his small lips.

"It's almost lunchtime, you should be up anyway kiddo." I poked his side, making him squirm towards the edge of the bed, his smirk turning into giggles.

"Jade!" He laughed, trying to push my poking hands away from him. "I don't have school so what else can I do but sleep all day?"

He was too much like me. "Have your friends over? Play soccer? Watch a movie?"

"I want to do what you do. I want to get drunk." He sat up, rubbing the sleep away from his beady eyes.

I almost choked on the air around me. "What?" A shocked laugh left my mouth. "You are too young to drink."

"I'm almost eight!" He declared, sitting up to make himself taller. "And you're both too young to drink anyways, you have to be twenty one!" He declared, sticking his tongue out at us.

"When's your birthday, Jett?" Tori asked, trying to move away from the conversation.

"The day after Christmas." He beamed. "Our birthdays are exactly five months apart, right Jade?"

"Your birthdays July 26th?" Tori turned to me while speaking. "That's so soon, do you have any plans for it? I mean it's your sweet sixteen so you've probably planned a huge party, right?" Her eyes lit up as she spoke, excitement rising in her voice.

"I've got nothing special planned. I guess I'll have a party and get drunk. I doubt my parents will make a big deal out of it. I'll probably just get given money to do what I want and a few presents from them." As I spoke I watched Tori's excitement decrease.

"No plans? Are you serious? For my sweet sixteen I had a huge party, there was bowling, lazer tag, make overs, horse back riding and my Dad took us for rides in his cop car! It was the first proper time I got drunk as well, let's just say that didn't end too well."

I cocked my eyebrow at her. "Your party sounds like a six year olds party mixed with alcohol." I mocked her. "So, what didn't end well? Did you not get the right face paint?"

She scowled at me. "I spent the next day hugging the toilet seat with the worlds worst hangover. I'd never felt that lousy before in my life. That was before I started partying with you. You introduced me to a whole new world of hangovers." She smirked. "So seriously, no plans?"

"Nada. And please don't plan anything surprise thing for me. I'm not into that shit. I hate birthday parties. Why would anyone want to celebrate getting older? You're just celebrating that you're a year closer to dying. It's dumb." I crossed my arms over my chest, pursing my lips at her as she smiled back at me. "No." I said before she could reply to me.

"Fine." She rolled her chocolate colored eyes at me, a frown surfacing on her forehead. "Can I at least get you a present?"

"Of course. I like presents. Who doesn't?"

She giggled, her eyes lighting up like a warm fire. "Good. In that case I'm going to spoil you then."

I felt my cheeks blush heavily.

Jett gasped at the sight. "Jade, are you sick? Why are your cheeks that color?" Jett poked one of my cheeks, his mouth wide open.

"Very funny kid." I pushed him off me, my cheeks finally returning to their original color. "Ok, deals over. You have to get out now because Tori and I have plans."

He pouted at me as he climbed out of my large bed, dragging his feet as heavy as he could as he headed for my door. "Can't I come?"

"No." I scolded, my eyes squinting at his. "Out."

Jett looked at Tori helplessly before opening the door. "You're both mean." He huffed, slamming the door behind him.

...

"Bowling?" Tori eyed up the bowling complex as we walked towards the doors.

"You mentioned bowling at your birthday thing and I hadn't been in ages. Plus it's about time we had a decent date."

"We've had loads of amazing dates, Jade. The first one was a bit rocky, but the rest have been perfect. Like the aquarium one? That was so amazing. Oh, and when we went to the park the other day, that was so simple, but sweet at the same time. And when we sat and just watched the freeway, that was fun."

"You and I have very different opinions on good dates." I chuckled. "The park and freeway weren't really proper dates."

"They were to me." Tori whispered under her breath as we changed our shoes up.

"I hate these shoes, they make me look like bozo the clown." I stomped around with the big shoes on my feet, almost tripping over myself.

"Careful!" Tori called out. "I don't want to go to hospital as one of our dates!" A grin slid across her pink lips as she caught me in her arms.

"I love hospitals." I grinned back, wrapping my arms around her neck as I pulled myself up.

"Of course you do. That doesn't surprise me at all, Jade." She helped me up to my feet both of us not breaking the eye contact. "Stop that." She said bashfully.

"Stop what?" I raised my studded eyebrow up at her, my smirk almost coating my entire face.

"That look you do."

"What look?" I kept my face in the same composure, knowing I was driving her mad.

"That look!" She sighed dramatically. "You do this thing with your eyes, it's like you're planning something evil and devious but at the same time you look sexy and beautiful."

"Oh really?" I moved my hair away from my shoulder, exposing my face fully.

"Yes." She groaned. "You're annoyingly perfect, you know that? You're so confident and funny and beautiful." She ran her fingers through the ends of my colored hair. "Your hair always looks so neat and the different colors really suit you." She dropped her hand to her waist, looking into my smug eyes again. "And your eyes! God I could go on for hours about your eyes. I've never seen such icy blue eyes in my life. And you can always express so many different emotions with just your eyes. I could literally list for days about how perfect you are." She sat down at our bowling lane.

"Thank you." I felt slightly awkward. I never knew how to take compliments without sounding arrogant or ungrateful.

"I'm so jealous of you."

I took a deep breath. I was about to do something I never would normally do. "Don't be. You are the most beautiful girl I've ever met. Inside and out you are a beautiful person, Tori. You may think I'm pretty on the outside, but I'm not so pretty on the inside."

"I think you are." A small smile expressed on her face as she stood up opposite me. She reached towards me, brushing a strand of hair off my cheek. She slid her hand ever so lightly past my ear, her thumb rubbing softly against my earlobe, her fingers supporting the back of my head as we lean in and firmly yet seductively place our lips together. I can feel her quickly inhale pulling the air from my own lungs with desire and passion. I pull her body closer and embrace her holding her tightly against me feeling the race of our hearts as one beat. "Aren't you worried people will see us?" She gasped as I pulled away, a smirk on my lips.

I shook my head. "I'm not ashamed of you."

Her face lit up, a complete smile appearing. "Good. Now are you ready to be beat?"

"In your dreams, Vega." I grabbed a green bowling ball up, placing it up to my face before throwing it full force down the ally, hitting a perfect strike. "Did I mention I was good at bowling?"

Her mouth dropped open. "Wow."

I chuckled as I handed her a light, pink ball. "Wow me then."

Tori's first ball was a gutter ball, no surprise there. Her second ball was slightly better, hitting two pins over and for the rest of her game her bowling didn't improve.

"You suck." I teased as we got our final scores.

"Ugh." She groaned as her eyes scanned across the screen. "I never win first place."

I ran my fingers through her long hair, my eyes sympathetically locked on hers. "Maybe one day you'll be as good as me." I smirked, kissing her lips softly.

"Woah, no way!" A guy behind us hollered, pointing to us and nudging his mate. "Lesbians!"

Tori span on her heel, her face covered in shock. Her eyes were wide, innocence shining through as the guy and his friend said crude comments towards us.

"Fuck off." I shouted, trying to move Tori's attention back onto me.

"Can you guys kiss again but for my camera?" The obnoxious guy held his phone up to us, a smug look on his face as he clearly tried to impress his friend.

"In your dreams hobbit." I pushed the camera out of my face, knocking it out of his hands and sending it onto to floor, only to be smashed into a million pieces.

"What the fuck did you do? Stupid dyke." He bent down to his camera, his eyes burning into me.

"What did you just call her?" Tori finally spoke up, her voice obviously trying to be menacing but she ended up sounding like a pissed off mouse.

"You heard me. No wonder you're a dyke. No guy would want you." He stood up, clutching his broken camera in his arms. "Or you." His eyes diverted to Tori. "All I wanted was a fucking photo."

"Leave him Tor." I pulled at her arm, turning her body so she was facing me again. "Are you ok?"

She nodded. "I hate the word dyke."

I agreed silently, taking her hand proudly. "Come on loser, let's get out of here."

...

"I still can't believe what that guy said to you." Tori slurred, sipping from her red cup and swaying her hips slightly to the music playing in the background.

I felt my eyes roll as she spoke. What had happened to us at the bowling alley wasn't great, but I had been called way worse than a 'dyke' in the past. "Tori that was on Monday, it's Saturday now. Get over it. I'm fine." I gulped my drink heavily. Unlike Tori I wasn't a lightweight and it took me more than two beers to get drunk.

"I missed you." She bat her eyelashes at me, a pout on her face.

"I saw you yesterday and I'm with you right now. We were apart like less than twenty four hours."

"You sound annoyed? Am I annoying? Am I being too clingy?" She held onto my arm, kissing my hand.

I snatched my arm away from her. "Yes, yes and yes."

She let go of me, her eyes falling onto her almost empty cup. "Oh." She whispered.

"I'm going to get another drink, stay here until I come back, or don't. I don't care." I watched carefully as I left her alone. Well she was hardly alone, the party was buzzing with people, not that she knew anyone other than me, but that was beside the point. My eyes stayed on her until I entered the house, she didn't move from the spot I'd left her in.

"Hey, West! How are you man? Life treating you ok?" An arm tapped my shoulder as I heard my name.

"Oh, hey Cam. Yeah life's pretty sweet." I poured myself another beer, grabbing a water for Tori.

"Awesome. Are you here with Beck? I haven't seen him in ages!" Cam flicked his light blonde hair out of his eyes, looking around behind me.

"No." I replied bluntly, my eyes following his as he looked outside. "I'm here with my-" I stopped as my eyes landed on Tori in the distance, she looked so beautiful. She'd curled her brown hair and put it in a half up do, chocolate curls framing her perfectly structured face and making her look like a model at a photoshoot when the wind caught her hair and blew it off her face. She'd even dressed up, wearing a hot pink midi dress with converse. "Tori." I finished my sentence with a smile. It was so damn hard to stay mad at her.

"Dude, she't hot."

I took my eyes off Tori, following his eyeline carefully. "What?"

"She has the most perfect cheek bones I've ever seen. I wonder if her tits are just as perfect?"

It didn't take me long to realise who he was gawping over. "Dude." I mocking his stupid voice. "She's taken."

"I don't see her boyfriend. She's all alone. I best go introduce myself." Before I could stop him he'd already starting walking towards her.

"Hey." He stood beside Tori, his eyes scanning her entire body.

"Do I know you?" Tori's eyebrows crossed as Cam smiled at her.

"No, but you'll want to. I'm Cam." He put his hand out towards her.

"Oh will I now?" She moved her focus onto me, ignoring his hand gesture.

"I told you she's taken." I stepped closer to Tori. Anger burned inside of me, although Tori was being standoffish towards him I couldn't help but feel jealous. Jealously was something unfamiliar to me and I hated it. I curled my upper lip to keep myself from speaking anymore. My mind whirling with thoughts that only made me assume the worst. The feeling of jealousy was slowly taking over me, filling my mind, my thoughts, making my eyes go dark, and my mouth become a straight line.

Tori noticed my straight face, smiling towards me and showing off a smug smirk towards Cam "You heard her."

"What are you, her girlfriend?" Cam rolled his eyes at me.

I scoffed, my face relaxing slightly although my stomach tensed harder than before. "No."

"Then why do you care?" Cam cocked his eyebrow up at me.

I was stumped, speechless, clueless. What do I say to that?

Tori who looked mortified by my previous answer spoke up, a tremble in her voice. "I think you should go."

My eyes scanned up to Tori, expecting to see her focus on Cam, but she was looking right at me. Her eyes were glazed over, water filling her bottom lid. It was almost as if she were looking through me. "What?"

Cam backed up. "Woah ok, I'm not down with this chick bitchy shit. I'm out." He turned quickly, only looking back once he got to a circle of guys the other side of the pool.

"What did I do? I just saved you from that jerk?" I stared at her slightly bewildered by what she'd just said.

"It's not that. And if you don't know what you did then don't call me until you figure it out." Tori turned away from me, heading for the street.

"Tori?" I called after her, half running to catch up with her. "Seriously what the hell did I do?" I grabbed at her shoulders, spinning her around and holding my hands there to keep her still.

She struggled under my arms, trying to shrug me off several times before giving up. Her eyes stayed glued to the floor as tear drops dripped down her cheeks. "You honestly don't know, do you?"

I stood still, my hands still firmly on her shoulders. "Was it something I said?"

She nodded. "How can you be so clueless and ignorant, Jade? I thought you were more than that. I didn't think you were that kind of girl."

I felt my stomach drop. I could feel Tori losing respect for me and I still didn't even know why. "Look, if you wanted to talk to Cam and got to know him you could have just asked me." I finally let go of her shoulders, my hands dropping onto my hips.

"It's not that." She ran her fingers through her hair. "You were standing up for me, and being all cute and jealous and I literally couldn't have been happier. You're so cute when you're angry and jealous and I loved knowing you'd be my knight in shining armor. But then you went and ruined it, all with one word."

I felt a terrible weight fall onto my shoulders. It was as if a giant boulder was laid on me and I couldn't straighten up or catch my breath entirely. "I was jealous. He was hitting on you and I wasn't going to allow that. You're my girl."

"But I'm not, and you made that perfectly clear, Jade."

I felt like I'd be punched in my heart. An ache pained through me as I thought back to the conversation.

"What are you, her girlfriend?"

"No."

"Oh, Tori." I cupped Tori's cheek in my hand, moving her head upwards and so she was facing me again. "I didn't mean it like that."

"I know, but it still hurt. I don't know what I am to you. I'm so confused Jade. I thought this was just a casual thing you know, but it's not. After the night in the pool I know it's a lot more serious than that." She didn't even try and stop the tears that fell from her eyes as she spoke, her voice cracking as she cried.

"I'm sorry." Was all I could manage.

I hated seeing her crying or upset and knowing that I had caused it only hurt me ten times more. I felt as if I had been stabbed right through the heart. I hurt one of the only people in this world who cared about me.

I moved my second hand so I was completel holding her wet face, our eyes blurring into focus on one another. "Tori Vega, I never ever meant to hurt you and I will never do it again."

She sniffed, a slight smile appearing on her lips. "I'm just being silly."

I shook my head. "No, I'm just being an insensitive bitch."

She laughed finally, moving her hands to wipe her tears. "I know you don't like commitment because of your parents and shit. But I just like to know that I'm yours."

"You are mine and I am yours. You know how we just lie in bed, or under the stars or even just watching the freeway and you wrap your arms around me? I feel so safe and so comfortable. You make my heart beat at a million miles a minute. When you play with my hair and kiss my forehead sweetly, I can't help but smile all over. When you look at me when we wake up in the morning I can see how much you care about me, just from that sparkle in your eyes. It makes me never want to let go of you, to just stay warm in your arms forever, where nothing else matters but you and I. No one else has made me feel the way you have."

Tori lets tears fall down her cheeks for the second time this evening. "Do you mean that?" Her lips moved into a smile.

"Why are you crying this time?" I wiped a tear from under her eye.

"Because you make me so happy. I feel so many emotions I didn't even know I could feel when I'm around you. Tonight I just felt like I wasn't yours, and that crushed me more than I thought it would."

I laughed slightly. "You are mine, stupid. You drive me crazy, but now you're in my life, I couldn't imagine life without you."

Tori said nothing more as she leaned in quickly, stealing my lips with her own. A tingle ran through my body as her moist mouth closed slowly round mine, forcing me to inhale through my nose. The kiss was gentle yet insistent, loving but possessive. I moved my hands around her waist as her tongue lightly swept across and between my slightly parted lips. There was an edge of urgency about this kiss, a hunger that might suddenly rage out of control, yet strangely tender and sensuous.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to make me fall in love with you." Tori whispered as we eventually moved away from one another, our faces still close enough for our noses to brush against one another.

"Is it working?" I replied with a smile, a smile so big it was almost hurting my cheeks.

She let out a deep breath, moving her face away from me to look my deep in the eyes. "Yes."
