"Now class, as you're all third years this is the moment where you truly need to think seriously of what you're going to do after you graduate" said a middle aged teacher to his class with a stern look "To help you decide I prepared these career aptitude tests, that I hope you'll take seriously so as to..." he paused as his stern face turned to a smile as he threw the papers in the air "...what am I saying? I know you all want to hit the hero course, right?!"

The class went into an uproar of cheers as they let loose with their quirks, with the only exceptions being a brooding blonde and a greenette too absorbed in his notes to pay much attention

The greenette in question was none other than Izuku Midorya, now 14 years old, looking over and updating his first ever "Hero Work for the Future" notebook of his 15 series. He started researching quirks so as to get a better handle of his own. Given the randomosity of his quirk he went into observing heroes, villains and vigilantes alike in order to get an understanding of every possible quirk there was to prepare for the eventuality of getting a new quirk in an inopportune moment during his future hero training and later on hero work

'Getting a little ahead of schedule but hey, never hurts to be prepared' he thought to himself with a smile

The subject he was updating at the moment was actually his own quirk and the progress and discoveries he made with it over the years

Quirk: Random Effect

Type: Emitter/Transformation

Description: The power to give the user any quirk possible at random

I discovered that despite not giving mutation type quirks (Which is actually a good thing since after one too many of those the result would probably not be very eye pleasing) my quirk can give me any kind of quirk from healing to enhancers, elemental based, erasure, matter alteration, etc.

It took a few years but I can finallydecide if I get an Emitter or a Transformation quirk and control which part of my body to transform or shoot from

My body can only take two quirks at the same time: one Emitter and one Transformation (not two of both) and even trying to stack a third one on the result is always a rush for me to the emergency room on account of quirk exhaustion

-Reason: a possible bodily limit set to avoid quirk overload (?)

Note: Apparently, while activating an Emitter quirk and a Transformation quirk one right after the other is okay, the idea to deactivate one or both to try to go for new ones is halted by a minute-long charge time/cool down period

-Cool down/charge time: 1min-52sec-45sec-39sec-34sec-30sec

Similarly to my two quirk limit, my training to reduce my cool down period seems to have hit a wall in the last two years. No matter how many times I try to use as many quirks consecutively I can not force down the charge time to go any lower than 30 seconds

Another interesting fact: even with as random as my quirk is there appears to be a certain factor that can influence the end results and that is that my quirk seems to have a somewhat idea of what is going on around me and give me abilities capable of helping me if I am in a dangerous situation, seemingly being able to feel out the space around and act accordingly, which led to my theory that my quirk is actually sentient, at least to a degree that it can get an idea of what quirk would be of use to solve a certain problem

'And from how often it activates to mess with Bakugo' he thought humorously, remembering all the times the blonde got in his face and got a random quirk lesson in response. Izuku could argue that was his emotions of dislike to the blonde triggering his quirk since he observed as strong emotions seem to activate his quirk as well, but that just wouldn't be as fun

"Hoh hoh, it looks like we have some very ambitious students, with both Izuku Midorya and Katsuki Bakugo applying for UA High" his teacher's voice snapped him back to reality as every students' eyes went wide with Bakugo's blowing open

"No way, the top school in Japan!?"

"I heard they have like a 0.2% acceptance rate"

"Well, this is Bakugo and Midorya here, if anyone can get in it's gotta be them"

"Your marks are very impressive, Midorya and Bakugo, maybe you do have a chance of getting into UA" said the teacher smiling, joyous at the thought of the recognition the school would get if two of its students got into the most prestigious school in the whole of Japan

Murmurs like this went on, as the students praised the 'prodigies' of the class, while Midorya put his notebook away, propped his head in a hand with a tired expression and mentally counted

'...three... two...one...-"

"DEKUUUUU"

'...and there it is' thought the greenette exasperated

Bakugo launched himself across the room via his explosions, landing on the freckled boy's desk who didn't even bat an eye at this, him and everyone else in class looking on as if this was the morning news

"YOU JUST CAN'T HELP IT CAN YOU, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!? EVERYONE I GO, YOU JUST GOTTA FOLLOW SO YOU CAN MAKE ME THE BUTT OF YOUR DAMN PRANKS YOU ASSHOLE!" shouted Bakugo in rage as let out some small explosions

Izuku just looked on as Bakugo ranted, while the class started snickering and poking fun at the blonde

"Heh heh, oh yeah! Like that one time when his quirk turned you into a pomeranian?"

"Or when it shrank you to the size of a mouse?"

"Or when it left you in nothing but your underwear?" teased a girl "I gotta say Bakugo, a girl is gonna fell oh so dominated when she sees those imposing grenade boxers"

The class started laughing with Bakugo looking ballistic and Izuku decided now was the time to interfere

"Look Bakugo" said Izuku simply "like I said before, like I said a thousand times before, I did not intend for those things to happen. And might I remind you, besides me not knowing what my quirk will do next that you triggered it by trying to attack me, so you could say it was self defense more than anything"

"SUCK MY ASS! I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FUCKING EXCUSES, DEKU! YOU'RE JUST SOME RANDOM FUCKER WHO GOT THE OTHER EXTRAS TO SIDE UP WITH HIM WITH YOUR STUPID ASS QUIRK!" shouted Bakugo in retort

Izuku closed his eyes and let out a sigh, not seeing a puff of yellowish spores come out and raise up to Bakugo's face "Bakugo, we've been at this too many times. Look, if it somehow helps I'm sorr-"

Bakugo's knees buckled before he collapsed on Izuku's desk, letting out an explosion that singed the desk before falling onto the floor

The class laughed harder while the teacher fixated Bakugo with a glare

"Bakugo, when you can, go to the principal's office" said the teacher

Bakugo, almost completely numb, managed to raise his head "WHAT!? IT WAS THE DAMN NERD WHO-"

"After you assaulted him and then damaged school property" the teacher cut of strictly "I'll call your parents and tell them what happened"

A little while later the final bell rang with everyone getting ready to leave, with Bakugo storming outside the classroom first

Midorya was about to exit the class too when two boys approached him

"Hey Midorya, we're gonna hit the arcade now, wanna come?" asked one of them

Izuku gave them a smile that seemed extremely fake "Maybe some other time, I have some chores at the moment, sorry" he didn't give them a chance to respond as he made his way out

Outside the school Izuku was frowning, the deal was, he hung out with those guys before and many people throughout the school, but over time an issue became more apparent as Izuku took note of it

'Can you show me your quirk again?'

'Hey guys, check out Midorya's quirk?''

'Woah man, that's some quirk you've got there. You're sure to make a great hero with it'

That was the gist of what most people told Izuku and to most people all the compliments would have blown their ego to enormous proportion, but to the greenette there was a fact that soured all of these compliments: people always complimented his quirk, never complimented him

To Midorya all those words of encouragement made it seem that people only stayed around him only because of his quirk and not once because they liked him

'I mean, I know I'm not the most interesting looking guy' he thought bitterly before switching to anger "But dammit, I'm more than just my just my quirk. If they actually tried to get to know me maybe they'd know"

Those were his thoughts as he entered a passage way, going over a manhole that started rattling before bursting out, Izuku turned to see a green sludge like being looking at him ominously

'A villain!?" Izuku thought panicked

"A medium sized invisibility cloak, perfect timing" said the sludge villain with a smile as he charged at the teen

Izuku tried to run away but the sludge man was too quick and pounced on him, triggering his quirk and causing long, bone colored spikes to protrude from hid body and spear the villain but to little success as the sludge just kept creeping around them and forced itself down Izuku's throat

"Nice quirk kid, I'll make to use it well after I take over your body" the gurgled voice of the sludge villain said with a supposedly smug expression on his deformed face

...before he felt himself heat up to a point his sludge was boiling and steaming with the source of it, he realized, being the now hot red brat

Grimacing he rapidly slithered his sludge out of the kid's throat and dropped him on his stomach, akin to someone who touched something too hot and got burned, or boiled in his case

"Grr.." he growled at the kid trying to catch his breath before smirking "So two quirks in one package? Must have won the jackpot today. Now just gotta knock you out cold brat and claim my prize" he said rearing an 'arm' back and bringing it down hard on the kids back

"Huh?" intoned the villain as he felt his sludge press against something as flat as the road, bringing it up he saw the kid's midsection flat as paper before springing up to normal as if it was made of rubber before the kid forced himself on his knees and hands

The sludge man blinked "Alright, kid. I have no idea what your quirk is," he said with a blank tone, not seeing Izuku hold a hand under him in which a blue snowball started to form "But I'm in a hairy situation right now, so I can only hope the ol' hostage situation will work when the grinning fool gets here"

With the sludge villain's large mouth open Izuku took full advantage and chucked the blue ball right into the villain's maw

"HE*gulp* hey, what's the deal you bra-" he tensed up as he felt his insides grow cold, literally. Looking down he saw his liquid body turn into swamp green ice

""WHAT THE..FUCK IS TH..."his words ceased, his entire body now a green sculpture of ice

Izuku sighed in relief "Well... not how I thought I would fight my first villain but..."

"HA HA HA, that was quite an effective way to restrain a villain young man"The boy whirled around at the easily recognizable voice and sure enough the greek god-like musculature, the V-shaped blonde hair and the radiant smile were sure signs of none than than...

"ALL MIGHT!?" shouted the shell-shocked teen

"Yes, it is I! The number 1 Hero in the flesh!" declared All Might striking a pose with his fists on his hips "I must thank you for you assistance young man and also apologize for dragging you into my hero work, it seems the years are catching up to me if I let this small time crook escape me, HA HA HA"

"No problem..." Izuku looked entranced as he gazed at his idol, before snapping out "All Might sir, it's an honor to meet you! I'm Izuku Midorya and I just wanna say you've always been my idol, all I always wanted was to be a hero like you who makes everyone feel safe just by being there! Could you please sign my notebook" the greenette rambled about four words a second as he pulled one of his notebooks out of... somewhere

"Of course, anything for a fan!" All Might seemed to catch Izuku's words, or at least the general idea as he took the notebook and skimmed through it to find an empty page, in doing so he came across Izuku's quirk notes

'These are very detailed, especially for someone so young' the blonde hero though seeing the in depth description of different quirks, strong points, weak points, drawbacks, he almost thought Nezu wrote this for a second

He found an empty page and scribbled his signature before handing the notebook back to the starstruck boy

"I must say young man, I was quite impressed by what I saw in that notebook. If you plan to enter the field of heroics those analysis skills will certainly come in handy" All Might said, ever supportive for a young hero hopeful

Izuku was beaming at this point, meeting the hero he looked up to the most was one thing, but getting praised by said hero was something completely different, so thrilled he was that his quirk took his overflowing emotions as a sign to come in to play

As Izuku was about to thank his hero profusely a green energy beam shot from his chest and hit All Might in the stomach where the beam seemed to spread energy throughout the hero's body given the energy waves traveling the man's shirt

Izuku recognized the quirk he got as a healing quirk. Well giving the man some of his energy back would be a good of thanking him, thought it seemed the hero was quite fatigued as the beam kept finding more things to heal of the seemingly unwinded and non-damaged man

All Might on the other hand was startled by the feeling of rejuvenation going through him, having thought the teenager in front of him had some sort of cryokinesis quirk given the way he froze up the villain he was chasing. That feeling of surprise slowly slipped to shock as he felt his time limit go back to three hours and keep going up until it reached four hours, where the beam stopped and the greenette started to sway and almost fall down

"Y-Young man, are alright?" asked the still startled and a little woried hero

"Yeah, I'm good..." said Izuku holding his head with a sleepy expression on his face "You must be very tired or have some nasty wound All Might, that healing made me feel like I haven't slept in a week and I still felt like I haven't healed it all"

All Might's smile became a little forced with a slight sheen of sweat on his face, inwardly panicking at the notion his secret would be found out he said quickly "W-Well I did have a busier day than usual so I burned quite a lot of steam.. A-Anyway, I thank you for your intentions young man, but you shouldn't have drained yourself in order to do so"

Izuku smiled tiredly and lifted a tired hand to placate the hero " It's alright, since it happened I thought I might as well make the most of it"

All Might became confused again "'since it happened'?"

"Yeah, since I got a healing quirk I thought it would be a good way of thanking you sir, thought I didn't think it would take so much out of me" he muttered the last part

All Might tilted his head, even more confused "What exactly do you mean by that young man?"

"Huh?.." Izuku intoned also confused but then his eyes opened a bit in realization "Oh right, I didn't explain my quirk yet, sorry. My quirk is called Random Effect, basically whenever I use my quirk I get to use any quirk possible at random" he demonstrated by bringing a hand up that then turned into wood and then a small tornado formed in said palm

All Might was stuck speechless, staring at the boy as if he saw a ghost, luckily for him the boy's tired mind didn't catch onto that as he looked up at the muscular hero, thinking he was simply aghast at the notion of his quirk

Izuku scratched his head "Heheh, yeah that sounds pretty crazy, huh? A quirk that let's you get any other quirk you want? How crazy is that?"

All Might openly flinched at the words, dark memories resurrecting in his mind before he tried to pull himself together "W-well, u-um..." the hero stuttered, at a loss for words before looking at the green-ice-villain "I-I should take this villain to the police before he manages to get out"he said quickly before going over to pick the frozen villain and easily hoist him on his shoulder as he got out of the passage way, all his movements a little stiff and his mouth a thin line instead of his usual blinding smile

"Oh right, sorry for distracting you so much All Might" apologized the teen

All Might waited for a second before replying "No problem," he said simply, very conflicted with his thoughts and suppositions, he had some brainstorming to do, he had some research to do on- "Say kid, I didn't catch your name"

Izuku's mind, still clouded by drowsiness didn't pick up on his idol's odd demeanor so he simply answered "Oh my name is Izuku Midorya, sir"

"Right.. I'll be keeping an eye out for you, young Midorya" said the hero before jumping hundreds of feet in the air 'Indeed I will'

Izuku stands there for a moment both out of shock at meeting All Might and also out of fatigue, after a while of resting a little he made his way home, his mind fuzzy but still filled with excitement 'Man, now that was some way to spend the day. Getting into my first villain fight and meeting All Might! Huh, I suppose with my quirk, I should be used to crazy stuff like this, I mean I don't know if it was it who caused all this to happen. Although if that's the case Random Effect sure has an interesting way to help me meet All Might, but hey can't argue with results'

His reverie was interrupted as he found himself at some dumping ground, looking around he saw a sign that said "Dagobah Municipal Beach", realizing he took a wrong turn and ended up here

'Great..' he thought tiredly

Finding a bench he decided to relax a bit before continuing on his way. He'd heard of this place. It was once a very popular beach but over time ocean currents bringing sea dump and people throwing their trash here turned a once beautiful ocean coast into a trash heap

'I mean how hard could it be to pick up at least some of trash. Yeah, the cars and refrigerators would be an issue, not to mention the eighteen wheeler cab, no idea how that got here, but at least the little things could be easily picked up'

Izuku thinks angrily at people's usual negligence of the environment. He admits the heavy things would be pretty difficult to move but someone with a strength quirk or a telekinesis quirk or hell someone with a shrinking quirk could easily clean up this place and that's just ideas of the top of his head of the quirks that could help clean up the beach, not to mention it would bring a nice buck to whoever helped move this stuff to a recycling center, and to add onto it, it would make anyone break quite a sweat both quirk-wise and muscle-wise which would be good for anyone's physi-

He perked up and looked around the thrash, getting a pretty extreme idea. He had done some exercises to keep himself in shape but he had to admit he hadn't thought of any special training to improve his chances of getting into UA but now he might have just stumbled upon his answer before he even though of the question, he smiled

'I'd have to get a permit but that shouldn't be too hard since it will be community service. Looks like I found what to do for the next ten months' thought Izuku ready for the challenge ahead on his way to achieve his dream of becoming the greatest hero he could be

In a police station, sitting on a counch was a gaunt man with blond disheveled hair, two long bangs framing his face and a thoughtful look in his neon blue with black sclera eyes as he waited to discuss an important matter with a friend of his from the force

'It's just a coincidence' he tried to convince himself 'He can't be alive, I made sure of it five years ago... but... could a quirk as powerful as that truly exist... without HIM being involved..." he thought darkly

If there was a chance that the terror of the past was back, then he had look into it and make sure that if he confronted it again he'd truly put a stop to it

Greetings folks and welcome to the second installment of Random Effect

It took me a little longer to finish this since I scraped my first idea and went with this instead

So Izuku gave All Might some more time in his hero form but also stirred some suspicion in the man. What will happen next? Well have to find out

Now, Izuku had quite the different upbringing here, while people still praised Bakugo for his powerful quirk most people think Izuku's quirk is even more impressive, not to mention the instances where said quirk decided to mess with our blonde bomber, so Izuku is actually more popular than Bakugo but unlike him he doesn't let it go to his head but instead feels like people don't like him for himself, but he's still not abused and you can see the change in demeanor from that fact

I hope this was a fun read for you all and I promise the Entrance Exam will have much more action scenes
