Aile lay there on the bed, unconscious. Vent stared at her with sadness.
"How... How is she?" He asked utilizing all possible strength not to cry.
"Well..." Fleuve said whilst looking down at the floor, pondering on whether or not to give him an answer. "She is alive, for the most part. But her body suffered severe damage when she was hit by that strike. It's looking grim right now for her recovery..."
Vent just stared, wide eyed, and then looked down, with tears dripping from his face. "If I was faster... Aile wouldn't have gotten hurt." Prarie places a hand on his shoulder.
"You are not to blame for this Vent. Aile took the blow for you. Now it's up to you to keep fighting for her." Vent wiped away his tired and forced a pained smile.
"Thanks..."
"For now, we need to figure out who or what caused that big energy ball." Prairie instructed.
"Why do we need to do that? It disappeared, so it's not like there's much we can find out about it anyway." Vent pointed out.
"True, but it appeared because someone made it appear, and incidentally..." Prairie turns to the young man in the bright green jacket, currently sitting in a containment cell. "It's the same thing that brought our green monster friend over here."
"Hahahaha, as if someone giving me the evil eye wasn't funny enough, now you call me a 'monster'." He said snarkily, referencing Vent who was glaring at him with a hateful look. If looks could kill, he would've dropped dead right then. Fellow guardian Thon, slammed a desk, and said...
"Listen here chump, Aile got hurt cause of you, so sit pretty and shut up."
"And if Aile doesn't make it, you won't be able to do that either." Vent snarled. Suddenly, the boy in green gained a sympathetic look on his face.
"Listen, I'm sorry about your friend, honestly, I am. I understand what it's like to see someone you love get hurt..."
"Save your pity for yourself, I don't need it." Vent scoffed. The green boy rolled his eyes and said...
"But I really haven't got the foggiest clue what's even going on. I've never heard of 'Slither Inc.' or 'Reploids' or whatever. All I was doing was just taking a nice stroll in the park and then I was pulled up into the sky, and then I ended up here!" He exclaimed.
"You know, he may actually be speaking the truth." Fleuve interjected.
"Really?" Prairie said perking up.
"Yes, according to my scans, Ben's energy signature is different to that of Humanoids. He is completely 100% Human flesh."
"Whoa." Is the only word Vent could come up with to describe the situation.
"Still, that doesn't explain how he got here." Prairie said, still slightly confused.
"We're probably looking at a parallel world thing." Ben said nonchalantly.
"Parallel world? Are you mad? There's no proof that sort of thing even exists." Vent said in complete disbelief. Was this stranger really insinuating something so ludicrous?
"There's no proof that it doesn't exist." He rebutted smugly.
"Quit joking around!" Snapped Vent.
"Exactly, whilst we're sitting here playing Questions And Answers, we aren't finding out anything useful. We'd be better off looking into that energy ball thingy."
"Dude, do you even know where you are? Prison." Vent said in a mocking tone. "We've got you locked down, or have you forgotten?" Vent said. Ben however, was unfazed by this. In fact, he started laughing instead.
"Hah! You have ME locked down? That's rich. I wasn't just sitting here for the heck of it. I just wanted to see what help I could be. From the looks of it, I'm pretty useless to you. So with that, I'm outta here." Ben then jumped and then slammed the device affixed to his wrist. The room was suddenly consumed by a bright green light. When the light dispersed, in place of the green jacketed boy, was a humanoid manta-ray like creature, with yellow horns extending from his face, gills underneath his arms, yellow wings, and two lightning bolt like stripes going down his chest. Everyone in the room looked at the creature, completely flabbergasted. The creature then jumped through the glass, causing it to shatter. He started at Vent for a moment, before saying. "And just to be clear, you aren't the only one who has people he worries about." The creature then flew out of the room at breakneck speed.
"What on earth-" Fleuve exclaimed before his sentenced was interrupted by a loud 'MEGAMERGE!' and Vent was transformed into Model HX.
"I'm going after him!" Vent shouted before he flew off.
"Vent! Wait!" Prairie called out. But it was too late. The boy had already left. "...Vent..." Prairie whispered to herself. She then turned to look at Aile with a saddened expression.
Meanwhile, in the city, the jetfast red creature was fleeing from the Model HX Vent chasing after him. "Why don't you just go back to where you came from?!" Vent yelled. The creature turned back at him and said...
"I'm trying to you doof!" He hissed. They then stood face to face, and vent readied his saber. But before he could land an attack, the jet creature shot bright green energy from his eyes at Vent, knocking him down. Vent got back up, and prepared to attack him again, before noticing that his eyes were widenened.
"Oh no..." He said before flying away.
"What?" Vent said, concerned as to what was happening. He followed the creature, who upon landing, reverted to the green jacketed Ben from before. Vent looked ahead, and in front of him was a restaurant.
"..." He was quiet for a moment before saying... "Mr. Smoothy... It isn't here. That's just... not right." This sentence imbued Vent with utter rage.
"What?! THIS is what you were so concerned about?! My friend is in a coma! And your biggest concern is that a frozen drink store isn't here." Ben turned around, looking at Vent with an annoyed look.
"You don't get it, do you? This is Bellwood, my hometown..." Ben said trailing off. He continued... "...or at least, it should be." He then began to look sad. "But... It's all... different. Part of me hoped that it wouldn't me, but this right here just proves it." He said, seemingly in despair. Vent however, could not understand what he was talking about, and just got more angry.
"How the heck does a restaurant prove anything?!"
"You know how you have a friend that you care about?!" Ben suddenly yelled. "Well, I have a cousin! A grandfather! A best friend that I care about!" Vent just looked at him, stunned. "But... they don't exist here... I may never see them again! I'm totally alone..." The boy said despairing. He then glared at Vent and said... "Go ahead, insult me all you want. It doesn't matter anymore." He then turned away. Vent looked at him, before briefly looking away, and he felt a flow of guilt in the pit of his stomach. He went over and placed his hand on Ben's shoulder and said...
"Look... Uh... We may have gotten off on the wrong foot earlier..." Vent said slightly awkwardly. "But I get how you feel. I've lost my Boss, and if I were to lose Aile, I feel like there would be nothing left for me to fight for. So, I'm sorry for attacking you and all that... So uh, maybe we can, um, work together?" Vent said, starting to feel very awkward. Ben turned around, with a surprised look on his face.
"You'd... do that?" Vent simply smiled and held out his hand. Ben looked at it before smiling himself. "I'd be happy to work with you." Ben said. Then, the both of them heard a noise, and could see a small flying vehicle landing, and the door opened, revealing Commander Prairie and the Scientist Fleuve.
"Vent! We've figured out what that ball of energy was!"
"Sweet! Come on, let's go!" Ben nodded, and the two of them entered the Vehicle, and it took off.
So, that's chapter 2! I'm sorry it took so long for it to come out, but school has been busy so I don't really pay the story any mind. But don't worry! I'll try to update when I can!
