On a remote island, under the summer's sun, so secretive that a thin layer of mists covers the forest region, and is inhabitable to humans. Instead, the island is ruled by a different type of creature instead of man.
On it's beach, a ship rests on it's shore as 4 trails of footprints lay in the sand heading inland.
Within the forest, a family of 4 were hiking down an old trail that hasn't been used in over a decade.
"Dad, are you sure you know where we're going?" Zephyr asked.
"Of course I'm sure, Zephyr." Hiccup said. "It's not too far away."
After a few minutes, they made it to a clearing and followed the trail as ahead of them was an old structure.
Before long, they finally arrived to Dragon's Edge, or what was left of it.
Hiccup and Astrid saw the entire Edge was in ruins after 12 years of storms, and many other natural events have occurred as what was left of the huts that were standing still were covered in vegetation. Snotlout's old hut looked almost completely gone as all was standing still were a few outer beams, Ruff and Tuff's hut had long-lost the tarps from storms as a few beams were standing still and the 2 Zippleback heads were on the old platform after braking and falling off. Fishlegs' old hut was only left with the stoned walls and an old support beam as the Gronckle head and wings were missing being broken off by storms.
What was left of Hiccup's old hut was only the stoned chimney which still standing, the black tarps from it's outside have been blown away and the chains were all rusted. And even the windmills have been knocked down. Astrid's old hut looked to be the less effected as most of it was still standing, only a few metal plates have been broken off by weather as well as there were a few patches of rust on it. The Nadder head had broken off from weather, and as well as ballista tower.
And lastly the Clubhouse had missing gaps on it's walls, and the tower and dragon heads have broken off as well from weather. The dome only a few metal plates standing still, and the old stables only had a few support beams standing as well as the front hanger. And a few lookout towers that the Night Terrors used to be still stand.
"Whoa, this is where you and Mom used to be, Dad?" Nuffink said amazed.
"Yeah, for a year we lived here with our friends." Hiccup said.
"I wish we could've seen this place back then." Zephyr said.
"Yeah, we made so many memories here." Astrid said.
"Some were good." Hiccup said.
They started looking around as Hiccup can still remember the days were dragons used to live on this island. But now the reign of winged beasts have been a distant memory.
After a few minutes, the ground suddenly shook with a thud.
"What was that?" Zephyr wondered.
They looked around as then another thud was felt as Zephyr and Nuffink nervously went over to their mother.
"Is it a monster?" Zephyr nervously said.
Then some trees were heard shaking as more thuds were heard. They then turn to the trees as then another thud was felt.
Then a large foot appeared and lands on a puddle of water with a heavy thud. And then a bellow was heard as the lifts up as then Nuffink and Zephyr were then amazed of what they were seeing.
Walking by the family was one of the several surviving Brachiosaurus as she momentarily looked down at them. And she came out of the trees and her foot hits the ground with a thud and bellows out, and then she lowers her head down.
Zephyr and Nuffink were almost amazed by the ancient giant that they hardly noticed they took a few steps towards her as Hiccup followed them. And they watched as the Brachiosaurus lifts her head up from a beam covered in vines as she had a mouthful of plants.
"I've never seen like it in my life." Zephyr said amazed. "She's beautiful."
They watched as the Brachiosaurus soon swallowed the plants, and then begins to walk off as she bellowed. And the Brachiosaurus heads off as the ground shook each time she took a step.
An hour later, after getting a made-shift camp set up in the Clubhouse after finding a way up. They were in the forest as Hiccup wanted to see if an old friend was still around.
If she's still alive.
"You sure she's even around still, Hiccup?" Astrid asked.
"Well, maybe." Hiccup said though admittedly unsure. "But I just have to look."
They continued on through the forest, unaware that they missed a footprint close by.
A few minutes later, they soon made it to a clearing as they looked around as there was nothing but plants.
Hiccup looked around, and then a shape was seen nearby on a log as it's head quickly perked up noticing them. Hiccup noticed the creature as well, and then it stood up as then a smaller version appeared from behind the log. And is joined by 3 more.
Hiccup was soon overjoyed as he recognized it.
Then, the creature rushed into the tall grass as a rustle was heard coming towards them.
The suddenly, leaping onto the log in front of them was Blue as she screeched out loudly at them.
Hiccup and his family stood still as Zephyr and Nuffink stood nervously behind their mother. And Blue hissed at them as the 4 smaller raptors nearby were actually her offspring as she was a mother now protecting them which would make her very aggressive.
"Hey. Hey there, girl." Hiccup gently said with his hand out.
He then glanced over to Astrid for a moment.
Blue however saw that as a sudden move and then snarled aggressively, she then leaped off the log and screeched as then approached them.
"Remember me?" Hiccup asked.
Blue growled as she nears them, appearing not to recognized them after over 12 years, and then lowers down into a lunging position ready to lunge at the slightest move.
It seems maternal instincts for triumphing over memory.
"Mommy?" Zephyr nervously said.
"It's okay." Astrid gently said holding her and Nuffink protectively.
If Blue decides to charge, she could be right on top of either of them before they even had the chance to react.
Hiccup then looked away with his eyes out with his hand out. "You know me."
Blue then sniffed him, and then looked as if she does recognized them. And then suddenly without warning, Blue quickly hugs him and then tackles him to the ground.
For a terrifying moment, Astrid thought Blue was mauling him, but soon laughed a bit as Blue excitedly rushed around Hiccup.
"Hey, I'm happy to see you too, girl!" Hiccup said.
Blue then nudges him to the ground.
"She-She's not gonna eat your father." Astrid reassured her kids.
Nuffink then shyly turns to them.
Blue then happily nuzzled Hiccup and licked his face.
"How have you been holding up?" Hiccup asked trying to hold her back. "Did you honestly missed me that much."
"Look, it's okay." Astrid said as Zephyr shyly came out of hiding behind her. "They're friends. We knew her."
Hiccup continued laughing as Blue madly licks his face as he finally got her off him. And then Blue finally turns to Astrid and saw the 2 kids.
"Here." Hiccup gently said.
Zephyr fearfully held her mother's right arm as Nuffink tried hiding under her white cloak.
"Go on. It's alright." Astrid gently assured them. "I'm right behind you."
"Come on." Hiccup said gently.
Reluctantly, Zephyr and Nuffink nervously up to their father Blue as Astrid gently helped them move.
"She won't hurt you." Hiccup assured as Blue crooned. "Hold your hands out like this." He gently brought Zephyr's hand out as she was fearfully quiet. "That's it." He brought out Nuffink's hand.
Nuffink then fearfully covered his eyes with his other hand.
Blue lightly crooned as she stared at the 2 children. And Zephyr and Nuffink remained fearfully silent thinking she might eat them, and her teeth and claws made them nervous of her.
"Just let her come to you." Hiccup gently instructed.
The 2 kids remained fearfully still as Blue lightly panted as she breathed. And then she lightly jerked back a bit as Zephyr and Nuffink then fearfully shut their eyes as Blue lightly trilled. She then crooned, and then gently placed her snout on their hands and purred as Hiccup and Astrid had amazed looks.
Zephyr and Nuffink then turn to her, and then their fear was replaced with amazement.
Blue then gently nuzzled them allowing them to stroke her. And then she lightly screeches as then her 4 offspring appeared from the brush, and then cautiously went up to them.
The youngsters looked to be about 3 months old, and one of them has a similar coloration to Blue.
"Aw." Zephyr said adored by them.
"Hey, there." Hiccup said reaching his hand near them.
Then a little gray raptor sniffed his hand, and then bites down on his wrist.
"Ow!" Hiccup said pulling his arm back in pain.
"I think he likes you, Dad." Zephyr giggled.
Astrid then felt something pulling on her cloak as she saw a little black scaled raptor pulling on it.
"Hey." Astrid said trying to pull it back. "Let go."
She was then in a little tug-of-war as the raptor growled as he pulled, but he soon lets go.
An hour later, they were still playing around with the young raptors.
"I don't know if I ever anything this playful before." Hiccup said.
The young raptors continue playing around as the one similar to Blue was only focus on them. And then suddenly she screeches out to her siblings, and they turn to her and quickly rushed up by her. She then chattered to them, and then stood obediently by them.
"Did you see that?" Hiccup asked amazed of what he saw.
Astrid, Zephyr and Nuffink were also amazed of what they saw as well.
2 days later, they were beginning to get the boat ready to head home.
As they were loading the last of their items on the boat, Nuffink something on the sand. He went over to it, and picks it up and sees it was a tooth of some kind. 13 inches long, serrated and thick.
"Hey, Dad!" Nuffink said and went over to Hiccup. "Look what I found!"
"Wow, looks like it's a tooth." Hiccup said.
"I can keep it?" Nuffink asked.
"Hmm... I don't see why not." Hiccup said. "Just make sure that no one else knows about it, okay?"
"Okay." Nuffink nodded.
"Okay, let's get going." Astrid said. "I don't think we wanna see whoever lost it comes looking for it, before..." She then smirked. "...trying to snatch you up." She then lifts her son up as he laughed.
Before long, they begin to set sail back home.
20 minutes later, their boat has made it out of the bay, and Zephyr looks over the boat and thought she sees something.
"Hey, Dad?" Zephyr said. "I think I see something."
"What is it?" Hiccup asked joining next to her and ruffled her hair a bit.
Underwater, just under the boat was great big blue shape.
"What is that?" Nuffink wondered.
The rising from the water right next to them, was a large sea creature was 4 times the length of their boat. And a jet of mist was sprayed out from it's nostrils. After it cleared, they finally what it was.
"Whoa, a whale." Nuffink said amazed.
"Is it the big Blue Whale?" Zephyr excitedly asked.
"Looks like it." Astrid said also amazed.
Nothing symbolizes one's relationship with the high seas better than the Blue Whale.
Though they are not as big as a Bewilderbeast, they are still impressive as they were still the biggest whale.
They watched as the Blue Whale swam directly next to them.
Weighing 200 tons and 100 feet long, these are the largest non-dragon animals ever to have existed. Yet much of their lives is still a mystery to humanity.
Soon, the whale surfaced again and spouts a mist let from it's blowhole.
"She really is big." Zephyr said.
"Yeah." Hiccup said.
Blue Whales live far out to sea, roaming every ocean from the tropics to the poles.
The family of 4 watched the whale glide under the water and looked as if she was glowing.
Yet, there are actually a few special places where they come close to shore.
They then watched as the Blue Whale dives as it's large tail fluke was lifted up as it looked almost as wide as the boat is long and went under.
The boat continues traveling alongside the whale as she looked as if the boat doesn't seem to bother her. And she then came up right next to the boat as she surfaced, and then sprays another jet of mist from her blowhole as she was so close, they can actually her hear taking a breath of new air. And went back under.
But what they didn't know, is that they were about to see something truly special. As the island had recently became something.
This is a sanctuary for Blue Whales.
They continued watching the ocean colossus as then Zephyr noticed something.
"Dad, what's that thing?" Zephyr asked.
"What?" Hiccup asked.
They then saw there was a small appendage underneath the whale, almost looking like a 3rd flipper.
"A whale with 3 fins?" Nuffink frowned. "That's weird."
"I don't think that whale has 3 fins." Astrid said.
Then the fin moves from under the whale as then a head was seen as the whale surfaces to take a breath. And then they were surprised as they met the world's biggest newborn...
Then, rising to the surface was a smaller version of the whale as it took a breath.
A baby Blue.
"Aw, she has a baby!" Zephyr said adored.
"Yeah, a big baby." Astrid said holding her up for her to see better.
Just a month old, she's already 26 feet long and weighs 6 tons.
They watched the calf as she dives back under and swam underneath her colossal mother.
Her mother shelters her with a protective fin.
"She sure is small compare to her mom." Hiccup said.
"Small to her, yes." Astrid stated. "But she's huge compare to us."
They watched as the calf swam under mother as she surfaces and takes a breath of air, and then surfaces again on her left side and spouts a new breath of air.
They caress one another, cherishing their close bond.
This is the most breath-taking encounter of a Blue Whale mother and her calf witness by a Berkain Viking.
They then watched as the calf dove back under.
This female will give birth only once every 2 or 3 years, so each baby Blue is extremely precious.
They watched as the 2 whales surfaced every now and then as they swam alongside their boat.
The calf will grow 3 tons a month.
More than 300,000 Blue Whales roam the world's oceans.
Back in the days of Old Berk, Blues Whales are often seen traveling by it's waters when fishing boats head out. And they are still often seen every once in a while on New Berk though living on a high cliff.
When it comes to food stock, whales are not usually an item of choice with Berkains. They weren't whale hunters. But whenever a body of a dead whale is found washed up on a beach, the opportunity to harvest is too great to resist.
Whale oil is often use to make candle wax, and one large gray whale with a blocky head holds gallons of wax that makes a smokeless flame. Which makes perfect use for candles.
The Haddock Family continues watching the whales as the calf surfaced right next to their boat.
Soon, this calf will leave these sheltered waters to roam the high seas.
The 2 whales and the boat traveled alongside each other for almost a full hour, before finally the boat reached open water and the Blue Whale mother and her calf swam off.
And the Haddock Family begins the long trip back home.

Since this will be the last New Island verse story of HTTYD, I decided to bring Blue for 1 last appearance.
The Blue Whale encounter is something I saw in Netflix series, Our Planet, The High Seas. Which that scene was truly amazing.
Oh, last night I saw the news saying that Covid has finally reached Antarctica. As it was now fully global.
And today marks 5 years since I started playing Steam game, The Isle.
