The next morning on New Berk, Hiccup headed downstairs after he strangely found Zephyr's and Nuffink's beds empty.
As he looked around the living room, the sound of a closing door was heard as he turned to a cabin.
"Hmm." Hiccup stared at the cabin.
Almost realizing what was going on, he then chuckled begins to head towards it.
"Where did they go?" Hiccup said in a playful tone. "Did they disappear? Did they turn invisible?"
He then heard stifled laughing from inside the cabin as then Astrid came down the stairs.
"I just have no idea." Hiccup said.
He then quickly opens the door ready to snatch them but froze as the cabin was empty.
Unknowingly to Hiccup, Zephyr and Nuffink were actually hiding on the cabin door as they stayed quiet. Hiccup frowned wondering where they were, but then a sneaky suspicion made him thought of something. And then he glanced right and slowly turns to the cabin door and finally saw them.
"Get him!" Zephyr said.
The 2 kids then lunged at their father as Hiccup caught them and fell back as Astrid laughed from it.
"What's all this about?" Hiccup asked. "Who's idea was it to tackle me?"
"Mine." Zephyr said.
"All right you little sneaks." Astrid said. "That's enough."
Later towards midday, Hiccup headed outside and went up to a small madeshift tent that Zephyr made as he went up to it.
"Chow time!" Hiccup said calling her out for lunch. "Zephy." He then sat down. "Zephyr Haddock, you want some lunch?"
Then Zephyr came out of the tent with Hiccup's old dragon-scaled helmet and points a sharpen stick.
"Define "lunch" or be disintegrated." Zephyr said.
"Okay." Hiccup said holding his hands out. "You should not be wearing that, okay?" He then kissed her cheek.
He then removes the helmet and fixed her hair.
"There you go." Hiccup said. "You thinking about lunch? I can give you a handful of crickets on a piece of salmon." He teased.
"No." Zephyr said.
"That's what you want." Hiccup said. "How did you find this?" He held out his helmet.
"Attic." Zephyr said.
"Really?" Hiccup said. "Were you looking for it?"
"No." Zephyr said. "I found it, though."
"You like going in the attic, huh?" Hiccup said and got up. "So does Daddy." He then lifts her up. "It's fine, actually. I don't use it anymore, anything."
He then carries her back to the house.
Shortly later, as the kids were having lunch, a knock was heard on the door.
"I got it." Hiccup said to Astrid.
Hiccup went up to the door, and opened it and found Goober standing outside.
"Oh, hey Gobber." Hiccup said. "What brings you here?"
"Uh, something quite interesting, actually, Chief." Gobber said. "We just got 2 visitors."
"Visitors?" Hiccup frowned and stepped outside and closed the door. "Who are they?"
"Eh, I'm not sure." Gobber said. "They didn't say where they were from. But they did said they heard of us, and meant no harm."
"Okay, and?" Hiccup inquired.
"They also said there was something they went to talk about with you and Astrid." Gobber added.
"And where are they now?" Hiccup asked.
"Well, they asked if there was somewhere where they could meet up, and I brought them to your workshop." Gobber said.
"Okay, can you get Mom to look after Zephyr and Nuffink for a little?" Hiccup asked.
"Sure." Gobber said.
Shortly later, Hiccup and Astrid arrived at the workshop and waiting inside were the 2 visitors.
One was a man with an Eastern look from a far distant land, black short hair and brown eyes. And the other was a woman brown hair and eyes.
"Chief Hiccup." The man and shook his hand. "Serizawa. And this is Kari, we've heard many things about you. Especially of what happened to Stoick, we're sorry for what happened."
"Thank you." Hiccup said. "So, why exactly are you here?"
"There's actually something we need to discuss." Kari said. "It's time you knew something."
Soon, the windows were closed as then a Dragon Eye-like object casted an image on the wall.
"Over 60 years ago... the first time a diver was sent to reach the lower depths... it awakened something." Serizawa said.
"At first we weren't sure what happened, or what he was even talking about." Kari said. "But we knew there was something out there."
"It was something in our culture for centuries." Serizawa said.
The Dragon Eye-like object then showed a new image.
"Him." Serizawa said pointing to the image.
Hiccup and Astrid stared at the image and then realized it was identical to the giant lizard creature.
"An ancient alpha predator." Serizawa said.
"Millions of years older than mankind." Kari said. "From an age when the Earth was 10 times more younger than today. This animal and others like it consumed this energy as a food source. But as the levels on the surface naturally subsided these creatures adapted to live deeper in the oceans. Further underground. Absorbing energy from the ground below. The 4 tribes were from, Monarch, was built in the wake of this discovery. A multinational coalition... formed in secrecy... to search for him. Study him. Learn everything we could."
"We call him... Gojira." Serizawa said.
"The top of a primordial ecosystem." Kari said. "A God, for all intents and purposes."
"A monster." Hiccup breathlessly said.
"Each of the 4 tribes were built in a different location, honoring each creature." Serizawa said. "Like Gojira. But the other 3 are of a different kind of creature, we call Titans. And there's one Titan-like creature out there."
A image appeared on the wall showing a Wyvern dragon that looks like the same one they saw last week.
"He is call, Doragon." Serizawa said. "He is believed, to be the father of all dragons. A guardian to the Draconic World."
"So he's basically a dragon god?" Astrid said.
"Some would say that, yes." Kari said.
"This predator." Hiccup said. "He's still out there. Where is he?"
"Gojira is active... patrolling." Serizawa said. "Moving through the world's oceans."
"The 4 tribes are always in close contact if something went wrong." Kari said. "But, we're always prepared if the worse were to happen."
"Then what?" Hiccup asked.
"Nature has an order." Serizawa said. "A power to restore balance." He then turns to the image of Gojira. "I believe he is that power."
Later towards night, Hiccup and Astrid were in the living room when then footsteps were heard on the staircase, and the saw Zephyr.
"Zephyr, what are you doing up?" Astrid asked.
"I was feeling a little thirsty." Zephyr said.
"Okay, wait here." Astrid said and walked off.
Zephyr then went up to Hiccup as he then noticed she seemed uneasy.
"You okay?" Hiccup asked.
"Um, Dad, I actually wanted to say sorry." Zephyr said.
"Sorry for what, sweetie?" Hiccup frowned.
"For calling you and Mom liars back at Snoggletog." Zephyr said sadly.
"Zeph, you never say that." Hiccup said.
"I did in my head." Zephyr said and sniffled.
"Hey. It's okay." Hiccup and hugged her as Astrid came back with a cup of yak milk. "Maybe in some cases you were almost right. I mean, we were actually gonna tell you and Nuffink about what happen before I met Toothless someday when you 2 are older."
"We just... didn't understood dragons before meeting Toothless." Astrid said joining next to them.
"If anything is ever bothering you, you can always come to us, okay?" Hiccup said.
"Okay." Zephyr nodded.
"Now, off to bed." Astrid said.
Zephyr then hugged her parents and heads upstairs.
A few hours later, Zephyr and Nuffink were peacefully asleep in their beds.
Then the door slightly opened as Astrid quietly peaked in to check on them. It's been a habit she had since they were smaller, and she knew it something every mother would do.
Astrid lightly smiled and then closed the door.
Another hour has pass, the 2 kids were asleep still.
Then Zephyr stirred a little, and then woke up. She then quietly climbed out of her bed clutching her stuff Night Fury sneaks out of the room not wanting to wake her brother up.
She leaves the room, and carefully peaks down to the living room to be sure her parents weren't there. Once she knew it was all clear, she quietly heads down and quietly poured herself a small cup of yak milk.
Once done, she placed the cup away and heads back to bed.
But then, a strange feeling in her gut made her feel something was off. She then looked around to see if anything wasn't right.
She went over to the front door, and slightly cracked it open and peaked out. She looked around but didn't see anything unusual.
"Hmm. Must be imaging things." Zephyr shrugged.
Zephyr then closed the door, and begins to get back to bed. When then suddenly a piece of cloth was swiftly placed over her mouth gaging her. She tried to scream for help when then the gleam of a knife was seen in front of her. And then she felt her hands tied behind her back.
Then she saw a shape coming from the living room walking towards her.
Then a candle light was lit, as the figure was revealed to be Drago.
"Took me a while to find your father's hideout." Drago said softly. "Now, be a good girl and come with us. Or you'll be personally kill your parents in front of you and burn your home down."
Zephyr fearfully gulped as then Drago placed a note on a table with a knife pinning it, and then he and a soldier who held her back then quietly left the house.
Then they both got on a Deathgripper as Zephyr tearfully looks back to her house one last time before they flew off.
Author's Note:
Next chapter will reveal more of what Drago is what up on his revenge plot.
And last night for New Year's, me and my family went to a friend's house and met with several others. And I was able to drink only 1 glass of champagne, and nearly gagged twice. Thought I was gonna throw up but didn't.
And no, the Wyvern dragon was not Godzilla in the last chapter. It was a Titan-like dragon I made up.
And lastly, first day of 2021 is good for a start. Learnt that Lego Ideas has a Polar Express set in voting, and ending the day with a Wendy's Baconator, fries and a Coke is great.
