"Look, Cartman is back!" exclaimed Stan, pointing his finger to the entrance of the camping shop.
On that day, I had taken the kids to the mall, since Cartman had to do run some errands, and he had just came back from the last of them: "Blankets, flaskes, thermal top..." listed the kid as we approached him "I think that's all..."
"Cartman, are you sure that you're gonna need all these things?" I asked
"I have to survive in an hostile environment for a long time, these are only the basics" explained Cartman
"You don't have to survive, fat boy" replied Kyle "You only have to spend three days in a motel because you have termites in your house..."
"Shut up, Kyle!" reacted the kid "You don't know how bad those places are..."
"Yeah, yeah" agreed Stan, ironically "By the way, I see you still have 10$ dollars left, how do you want to spend them?"
"I actually don't know..." commented Cartman
"I'll give you an idea" I proposed "We could try to play that game that makes you win SuperBowl tickets..."
"That one where you have to choose a combination of six numbers?" asked Kyle
"Yeah" I confirmed "Although it's difficult, we could give it a shot..."
"I thought you didn't like football..." said Kenny
"It's not my favorite sport" I admitted "But Denver Broncos are in after a lot of years, the halftime show is gonna be the biggest in history and going to Miami could be a nice trip to do together, not like the last one..."
"Hey, I've already said sorry" chuckled Kyle "The tobacco shop is open, who wants to go?"
Kenny suddenly raised his hand: "Me! Me! Me! Me!"
"Why are you so happy to do that?" asked Cartman
"Why do I always have to propose for a reason?" replied Kenny
We all looked at him interrogatively, and the kid admitted: "Ok, the owner has beautiful tits and I wanna look at them: are you happy, detectives?"
I sighed and accepted: "You can go, but choose well: we believe in you..."
Kenny took the banknote and entered the tobacco shop, returning after a couple of minutes: "Here I am" he declared, giving me the ticket "How beautiful she is..."
I read the number combination and asked him: "Kenny, did the owner told you what numbers do you play?"
"Probably, I heard a female voice telling me the six numbers while looking at her..." answered the kid
"Ok, so that's why you've chosen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, right?" I asked again, showing the ticket with those six numbers to the others
"You're a douchebag, dude!" exclaimed Cartman, with an angry face "You've wasted my money!"
"Keep calm, Cartman" intervened Stan "We can keep it anyway, no one knows..."
"Ok, but I'll take that" declared Cartman
"Why you, fat ass?" asked Kyle "You'll surely lose that: you have to empty your house for the disinfestation..."
"My money, my ticket" cut Eric "I'll keep that in the box with my other precious things: when Eric Cartman does something, you can sleep between two pillows..."
"I hope so..." I commented
Three days later, I was doing my homework while Kyle was watching television, muttering: "Why do they always air Terrance and Phillip late?"
"Just wait some minutes..." I commented, writing a comma on my sheet
"Oh, perfect, there are news now" declared Kyle, ironically "They are surely kidding me..."
While writing, I could listen to what the presenter was saying: "The 'Great SuperBowl Bet' has finally a winner: the winning ticket was bought by a resident of the little town of South Park, on the mountains of Colorado..."
"Oh, great!" exclaimed Kyle "Just imagine if one of my schoolmates had won it: he'll flex it around for at least a month..."
"Shhh" I answered, standing up and reaching him on the sofa "Let me listen..."
The presenter continued: "The peculiarity of this win is the combination chosen: an incredible 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. We can say that the lucky winner doesn't care about superstition..."
We had literally kept frozen on the sofa: no, I couldn't believe that...
After some seconds, Kyle was the first to speak: "We won, G..."
"We won, Kyle..." I repeated
Then we finally yelled: "YEAH!"
Kyle started jumping around the living room, while I rapidly called Stan and Kenny to inform them: "Let's go, Kyle!" I exclaimed "Stan and Kenny are going to Cartman's house, let's join them!"
The kid obeyed and some minutes later we were in Cartman's front garden, where we found the kid, his mum and a lot of boxes: "Hey, Cartman!" greeted Kyle "We won!"
"Really? WOW!" exclaimed Cartman, kissing Kenny on his forehead "My lucky boy..."
"Pull it out, I wanna read those magic numbers..." declared Stan
"Give me a minute, I have to find a box where there is written 'Toys'..." explained the kid
"Have you seriously put the ticket in the box 'Toys'?" asked Kyle "Are those your most precious things?"
"Do you know something more valuable?" replied Cartman, looking at every single box "That's strange, I can't find it..."
I saw Mrs Cartman putting their stuff on the ground and asked her: "Is there another box on the van?"
"No, sir" intervened the truck driver "Everything was unloaded..."
"How many boxes were there?" I asked again
The man looked at his paper: "Forty-six"
Kyle rapidly counted them and intervened: "They are forty-five"
The truck driver verified and confirmed: "You're right, maybe we've forgotten one of them in the storage, I'll call my colleague..."
He pulled out his phone, talked for a while and then informed: "It isn't there either. It looks like it has disappeared..."
"Oh, great!" exclaimed Stan
"When Cartman does something, you can sleep between two pillows..." repeated Kyle, mocking his friend's voice
"Disappeared?" asked Cartman in a whisper, white in his face
"It happens" explained the man "Sometimes a box finishes on the wrong van and comes back when the mistake is noticed: in some days we'll give you some news about your box..."
"See? We have to keep calm, there's nothing to fear..." declared Cartman, with the most convincing tone he could find
But I think our glances were not calm at all...
"Are you ready to go back to school?" I asked Kyle, while we were walking to the bus stop
"I think so, but I can't help thinking about that ticket..." commented the kid "And you? Why have you decided to leave your car home?"
"I'm tired of driving around the school for decades in order to find a parking place" I explained "And I think that if school buses exists, there is a reason, isn't it?"
"Right, right..." agreed Kyle
Stan and Kenny, who were already at the bus stop, greeted us: "Hi, guys!"
"Hi!" greeted Kyle "Where is the fat ass?"
"He's late, as always" answered Kenny
At that moment, we saw Cartman running to us with a big smile on his face: "Guys! Guys!"
"Why are you so happy to go to school today?" asked Stan
"I don't give a fuck about school" answered Cartman "I have good news and bad ones..."
"The good ones?" I asked
"They have found my box!" exclaimed the kid "It was wrongly sent to the apartment of a guitarist..."
"Great!" we exclaimed togheter
"Yeah, but here comes the bad news" continued Cartman "The guitarist in tournée in Japan and will come back only in a week: the boxes were retired by the doorman, that says that he won't give me them back until the owner returns..."
"Goddamn it!" exclaimed Stan "We still have to wait..."
"Artists are always strange" pointed out Kyle "Maybe he'll see that the box isn't his and throw it away from the window..."
The bus stop fell into silence, and our angry glances to Cartman were interrupted by the arrival of my bus: "Bye, guys" I greeted "And finger crossed..."
When I arrived at school, the first person I saw was Jessie, who kissed me: "Hey, how are you?"
"Fine, thanks" I smiled "I'm making up a big surprise for your birthday..."
"I don't wanna know nothing..." chuckled Jessie "I'm sure that it will be great, let's go to our classroom..."
She should have told that to Cartman and that freaking removal society...
Days passed, fear increased, and you can imagine how thrilled we were on that afternoon, when I were in Kyle's living room with the kids and I saw Cartman running from the window: "There are some news here..." I commented, going out with them
"He's back! He's back!" he shouted "The guitarist is back from Japan and has already handed in the box to the relocation company. We only have to go and retire our SuperBowl tickets!"
"You could also yell louder, fat ass!" reproached Kyle "So if there is someone else interested, he'll follow us and steal our ticket..."
"Sorry, I was really excited..." muttered Cartman
"Can we go now?" asked Kenny
"Yeah, I'll bring you to the storage" I decided "Jump in the car!"
We drove to the suburbs of the city, where the place we needed was.
Cartman entered and went out after two minutes with the box in his hands the happiest smile on Earth: he was transporting a winning ticket...
A woman ran to him: "Wait kid, you've forgotten to sign the bill of transport!"
Cartman put the box on the roof of a parked car and asked: "Where do I have to sign?"
"One here and one here" answered the employee "Perfect. This is yours and we'll keep the other one. Thank you and sorry for the mistake, goodbye..."
The kid turned back to take the box, but he couldn't find it: it was still on the roof of that white car, which was running away from us!
We were all paralyzed: "He's a real asshole!" exclaimed Stan "Our tickets are flying away..."
I rolled down the car window and shouted: "Jump in the car, Cartman! We'll follow that!"
"Where has it gone?" asked Kenny, while Cartman entered the Volkswagen
"Left!" replied Kyle
I started to drive at maximum speed, following Kyle's indications: "Where is it now?" I asked
Kyle pulled his head out of the window and shouted: "There! In front of the traffic light!"
"Speed up, G!" exclaimed Stan "We'll reach him!"
The white car restarted and, when we arrived at the traffic light, it turned red: "Go!" encouraged Kenny "If we stop, we'll lose it..."
"But there is a traffic agent in the middle of the intersection!" I replied
"I know, then we'll explain him everything" insisted Stan
Cartman was not talking, but sweating as fuck for the tension.
I tried to cross the intersection, but the agent reached us with his whistle in the mouth and the red palette raised: "Stop! Sir, don't you know the difference between red and green?"
"Bye bye, SuperBowl..." sighed Cartman, pulling his hat away and biting it in anger
"Look, G!" exclaimed Kyle
The box had just fallen from the roof of that car and has finished on the sidewalk: at that moment, the van of the garbage collector stopped there, and a trashman took the box.
If it had gone into the garbage disposal, we would have had to say definitely goodbye to our SuperBowl tickets...
But luckily the big surprise suddenly came: Kyle rapidly opened the car door, reached the traffic agent and wrestled whistle and palette from him.
Then he whistled as loud as he could and started to wave the palette, shouting to the garbage man: "Put that fucking box down!"
The man turned to him and rapidly obeyed, with a scared face.
Cartman ran to pick up the box and, when he came back, he hugged Kyle: "You're a fucking Jewish genius!"
Meanwhile, I explained the situation to the traffic agent, that opened his arms: "I'm sorry, but I have to fine you. And the fact that you've stolen my stuff is an aggravating circumstance..."
Cartman had regained his classic smirk: "Sorry, agent Barbrady: do you remember why you have stopped us?"
The agent scratched his head and admitted: "Ehm... I don't know, but you can go now..."
I was pretty shocked, but murmured: "Ok, goodbye agent..."
We drove away from that intersection, and when we were far enough, the car finally exploded in yells of happiness: "We are going to Miami for the SuperBowl!" exclaimed Stan
"I can't believe it..." murmured Kenny "It's a dream..."
"Yeah, it's fantastic" I admitted "But now I have to do something..."
I reached Jessie's house and looked at Cartman: he initially made an unconvinced face, but then he nodded.
I went away from the car and called my girlfriend: "Look out of the window"
When she opened it, I smiled and said: "Happy birthday, honey! Would you like to go to Miami with us on February? We're seeing the SuperBowl!"
She smiled back, touched, and exclaimed: "Yes, sweetie, I'll come! You're always the best!"
I winked at the kids: we were about to join one of the biggest events on the whole planet...
