"New toys!" A Jack in the box cried. The daycare came to life as the toys came over to welcome them. There was a robot, a squid, tinker toys, and even an insect warrior. They heard a small horn and the crowd parted to allow a Tonka dump truck to pass through. On the back was a pink teddy bear.
"Well hello there. Welcome to Sunnyside, folks. I'm Lots-O-Hugging bear, but please call me Lotso! Look at all of you. You've been through a lot today, haven't you?"
"It's been awful!" Mrs. Potato head cried.
"We'll you're safe now. Don't worry, you'll find that being donated was the best thing that ever happened to ya!" Woody scoffed. Rose nudged him.
"Do toys get played with every day?" Rex asked.
"All day long, five times a week."
"And what happens when the kids grow up?" Jessie asked.
"New ones come in, and when they grow up, new ones will replace them." He showed them a wall of students. "You'll never be neglected or forgotten here. No owners means no heartbreak." The toys murmured in amazement.
"Huh! And you wanted us to stay with Andy!" Potato Head snapped at Woody.
"Because we are Andy's toys!" Woody snapped back.
"So you were donated by this Andy, huh? Lotso said, placing an arm around him. Well he can't hurt you no more, sheriff." Woody went to say something, but Lotso blew him off. "Now let's get you all settled in. Right this way everyone." Lotso led them through the room, pointing out places to go to get new parts and introducing them to other toys. He then led them down to a door, knocking on it with his walking stick. It opened to a bathroom and a big baby doll stepped out. Lotso thanked him and led them through the bathroom into the conjoining room. "Here we are, the caterpillar room! This is where you'll be staying." The toys were in awe, even Woody. Rosetta looked up at him and smiled. He smiled back softly. Suddenly something hit both of their feet. They looked down and saw a Fisher Price Chatter Phone.
"Well hey there, little fella." Woody said. Rose giggled.
"Alright folks! Recess is just about over. Once that bell rings, this room will be filled with children just waiting to play with ya. Welcome to your new home!" He got back into the truck with a few other toys and drove off back to the butterfly room. Andy's toys murmured with excitement. They couldn't wait to get played with. Woody sighed, knowing he lost this battle.
"Look everyone, I'll admit, it is nice here. But we have to go home." Woody said.
"This could be a whole fresh start for us, Woody." Jessie said, grinning.
"Yeah, stay with us, Woody." Rex cried. The rest of them tried to convince him to stay, but Woody had enough.
"No. No! I don't need another kid, I have one. You have one! And if he wants at college or in the attic, then it's our job to be there for him. Now I'm going home. Come on, Rose. Buzz are you coming?" He looks at the space ranger, who looks at Jessie. "Buzz?" Buzz steps forward.
"Our mission with Andy is complete, Woody. What's important now is that we stay together."
"We wouldn't be together if it weren't for Andy. Look under your boot, Buzz, all of you look under your feet. Who's name is written there? Andy's! He still cares for us. He wanted to put all of you in the attic. You can't turn your backs on him now!"
"Woody! Wake up, it's over!" Jessie snapped.
"It will be okay, Woody. Buzz said, pulling Jessie back. This is better for all of us, including Rosetta. She can stay here instead of the attic." Everyone gasped. Buzz looked at them and realized what he said. "Oh boy."
"Dad, what is he talking about? When were you going to put me in the attic?" Rosetta asked. Everyone looked at Woody, who glared at Buzz. The cowboy rubbed his forehead.
"I asked your uncle if, in the event that Andy does take me to college and puts the others in the attic, to take you with him and watch over you." Woody said.
"Why? No, how? How can you possibly think that I would want to be anywhere without you? Your my dad. I need you. Plus you promised me you would never leave me again!"
"I know I did, Rose, but this time, I am not in control of what Andy decides. Andy wants me at college and wanted the rest of you in the attic."
"Not me. I'm not Andy's toy. I'm Molly's, and she hasn't played with me for years. I've stayed on a shelf since Mom left."
"Which is why I knew you wouldn't want to sit on another one at college. You deserve to be played with honey."
"And you don't? You're so worried about me and all of us that you never think about what you need, ever!"
"That's enough, Rosetta. We're going back home and that's final. The rest of you are staying?" None of the others moved. "So this is it, after all we've been through? I can't believe how selfish you all are." Jessie, Slinky, Buzz, and even Rosetta were taken back. Woody turned and walked away. Rose looked at Jessie, smiled softly, and then followed her father. The two toys disappeared into the hallway, as the kids outside were getting ready to come back in.
*Uh-oh, Woody's in deep trouble. Will he be able to explain? We shall see!*
**Also, I know I haven't update 'Strength of a family' in over a week. I am having trouble with the chapter I'm working on, and also I have two other stories, plus the last week has been hectic. I'll have it up soon!**
