The good part to this was that the Leviathan could linger in the orbit of Kaldir as Kerrigan took sight of what these evoulations were that Abathur were talking about before he spoke with the pleasant before their sight or their hive connection. "Planet Calus." The sight zoomed in to the planet where a Dominion outpost was set up and Kerrigan mentally smirked with the first steps to removing the Dominion power right now. "Dominion security outpost in cliffs above valley. Out of reach. Adaptation required." That was a problem, but Abathur provided the answer as the local Karak leapt off the cliffsides and attacked some prey as Abathur continued.
"Local karak vault through air, attack prey. Devour karak. Collect essence. Can assimilate trait into Zergling strand. Once collected: Dominion outpost within reach." Kerrgian hummed as she sent the horde of Zerglings for the Karak and it was a battle, but Abathur was not wrong as the essence was consumed. "Essence acquired. New sequence spun into Zergling strand." They entered eggs and emerged... different, very as they now had some form of wings and their hind legs were now high-tensioned to be lethal as Abathur continued. "Augmented Zerglings, ready for combat."
"Good. Let's see them in action." Additional Zerglings were dropped from orbit as Abathur continued and explained what they could do.
"Delivering additional Zerglings now." The horde charged and Kerrigan watched as they leapt through the air to close the gap and their strikes were more lethal than before. "Raptor strain, leaps to close on enemy. Scales cliffs." After clearing that out, they charged for the main outpost and a normal rush would have been leveled with a siege tank and Marauders, but with Raptors, they were destroyed in recorded time. "Outpost destroyed. Next strain ready for testing." Kerrigan focused as Abathur soon had the specimens gathered up and prepared for evaluation.
"Planet Astrid III. Feral Zerg brood." The planet was a more arid world as Kerrigan took in the feral hatcheries there as Abathur explained. "Feral hatcheries evolved unique adaptation. Morph Zerglings very fast."
"I'm taking control of the hive cluster right now." They fell under her sway easily and Abathur took to applying some additional features to the hatchery for the second test.
"Incorporating adaptation into Swarm." The hatcheries started to mutate as Kerrigan sensed Terrans on the world and lightly growled.
"There's a Dominion force on this world! Inbound on the hive cluster. Work fast, Abathur." The hatcheries finished up and Abathur spoke.
"Swarmling strain complete. Ready to morph." Kerrgian commanded the hatcheries to produce Zerglings, suspecting that it would be too late to hatch them in time, but no, instead the eggs somehow accelerated the growth of the Zerglings and now three emerged from the eggs, as in three per egg as Abathur spoke. "Swarmling strain: hatches quickly. Three from single egg. Overwhelms foes." Larger numbers, more Zerglings, and the emergent of the back fin likely from its host organism, Kerrigan could see the use behind that if she needed to overwhelm foes as she sent them to do so, the ground force of heavy firepower was no match as she even caught some feedback form a Marine before his death as Abathur continued. "Attackers eliminated. Ready to morph additional Zerglings. Destroy base." Kerrigan was going to love this part as more Swarmlings were mutated and were rallied before they charged as she heard some of the feed.
"They're everywhere!"
"Then shoot everywhere!" And there goes the Thor as the base was wiped out and Abathur concluded the tests.
"Dominion dead. Swarmling test concluded. Must prepare sequences for Swarm integration." Kerrigan breathed as she released her far sight and took in the two strains before her, looking between them as Abathur spoke.
"Sequences ready for integration. Await decision." Kerrigan hummed to herself in thought about which one would be the successor and which one would be left for the other broods to take.
One was more dangerous, with a jump and increased damage from its claws, but the other embodied the Swarm Rush, a method to overwhelm with numbers before she made her decision.
"Ready the Raptors for the Swarm, the Swarmlings will be LEFT to the other broods if they choose to do so."
"Very well. Both strains in use. Raptors most prominent in Swarm forces." And so, the Zerg had their first creature mutation and it was lethal in the long run as Kerrigan headed back and soon learned that the Swarm wasn't fast enough to get into the ship and it was leaving from the dark side of the moon, but Kerrigan kept her word as she recalled all of the Zerg to her Leviathan for the Protoss to the world to their agendas, she would head for Char soon, as soon as she figured out a way to get on that ship and destroy it or stall it long enough for someone else to take care of it, the Dominion MIGHT have some answers aboard that ship that she needed to know about...
