"Hello, dear. How are you feeling?" Recovery Girl asked a slowly awakening Logan.

Logan brought her hands to her head and dragged them down her face as she sat up "Huh? What's going on? What time is it?" She looked around the room until she spotted Recovery Girl. "Recovery Girl? What happened?"

Recovery Girl shuffled towards her. "Hey there, sweetie. Calm down and don't get up too fast," she instructed. "You were involved in an attack and received an injury to your head."

"Oh okay, it isn't too late is in?" Logan asked casually. "I need to get to Gym Gamma. I have an important meeting today. I'm the president of a club and we have our first meeting."

Recovery Girl grabbed a clipboard from the end of Logan's bed and made a few marks on the chart attached. "Well, that is a good sign that you are not suffering from amnesia, but we still need to go through the test to be safe. I am going to test you for any signs of a concussion first, and then I will do an amnesia test. Is that okay?" Recovery Girl quickly grabbed a small flashlight and shined it into Logan's eyes to check her pupil dilation reflexes. She then grabbed a small rubber hammer and hit Logan in the sweet spot right below the knee causing the girls leg to automatically extend out. "Your reflexes seem to be alright. Do you feel any sort of numbness?"

"No, I can move everything. I can feel my hands and legs fine."

"Can you touch your nose for me?" Recovery Girl watches carefully as Logan brings her right index finger up to her nose. "And go ahead and touch your finger to mine." Recovery Girl holds out her finger for Logan to touch "Good, let's just do a few cognitive tests real quick. What is five times seven?"

"Thirty-five."

"Okay, perfect. I don't think you have any sort of high grade concussion so you should be able to go home today. Do you have a headache?"

"No. I feel fine. I feel like I always do when I wake up from a power nap, so I am sure the energy is just going to take a second to kick in like usual."

"Power nap is an interesting way to refer to a coma, but hopefully your energy does return," Recovery Girl commented, only half paying attention as she made a few final notes on Logan's chart.

"Coma?" Logan asked, alarmed. "What? I thought I was out for an hour at most. How long has it been? Is the meeting over? Did they do it without me? I hope everything went alright regardless of the lack of their rich, fearless, courageous, beautiful, and humble leader." She dramatically held a fist to her chest, lifting her chin high. "I'm kidding. But seriously though, how was the meeting. I need to know. Did Etusko cover well for me? Wait, would you even know that? I need to speak to Snipe. Where is Snipe?"

The nurse set her clipboard down slowly, considering how to approach the onslaught of questions. "Okay, well, you have been asleep for twenty-six hours and it appears you don't have a concussion or amnesia. I am sure whatever meeting you needed to go to was cancelled. All after school activities were canceled yesterday, as well as school today. I am actually one of the few faculty members on campus. Your acting guardians at the moment asked me to call them as soon as you awoke, so I am going to go ahead and do that now." She turned and began walking towards her desk. "They will likely be relieved to hear that you are fine."

"Wait, so you stayed here all night?"

"Yes, of course. They preferred for me to care for you rather than sending you to the hospital so that is what I did." She smiled warmly. "I guess you can say I am a rather dedicated school nurse. I was very worried with how long it had taken you to awaken from the injury that you would have had some more long lasting effects. It seems all is well, though. Now, I really must be calling your guardians."

"I mean, that is a bit odd, but thank you still. I am going to go ahead and let you call now." Logan laid back down on the bed and listened to Recovery Girl give a quick debrief to Mrs. Tamura.

"Okay dear, they are on the way now," Recovery Girl said as she set the phone down. She grabbed a remote control from her desk and turned towards the television mounted on the wall. "Do you want to watch anything in particular on the television or are you fine with just watching the news?"

"The news is fine. I'm sure they are going wild about the hero class attack, so it can help me piece together what happened while I was out. I'm surprised I didn't die while I was knocked unconscious."

"Yes, yo-

"The fishing industry has been shaken to its core by the discovery of a quirk-possessing fish capable of speech," the reporter announced. "This has led to heated online debates about whether or not it is ethical to eat such an animal."

The screen transitioned suddenly, now showing two broadcasters sitting at a table. "Breaking News," scrolled across the bottom of the screen in bold characters. "We've just received new information regarding the recent invasion of the prestigious U.A. High School," one of the broadcasters said as a picture of the school flashed on screen. "Ongoing investigations have revealed evidence connecting the disputed vigilante group with growing notoriety, known as the Sideline Squad, to the attack. Remnants of their signature explosive devices suggests extensive involvement by the group, leading police to believe that they may be the leaders of an expanded team known as the League of Villains. This opens up speculation about how the group's growing online following will respond to their potential rebranding to 'villain' status."

"What the fuck?" Logan yelled at the television.

"I know," Recovery Girl said with a sigh, shaking her head. "It's troubling, the lengths vigilantes will go to for attention these days. A lot of people become vigilantes because they were unable to make it as heroes, but they want the same level of fame regardless. That is why a relatively large portion of them end up turning to villainy eventually. I suppose it really shouldn't be too surprising this group of women ended up the same."

Logan stared at her with wide eyes, trying to mask her anger with confusion. It wasn't hard; she was at a loss to explain how the hell anyone would come to such an extreme conclusion. "I have a headache now," she said slowly.

"It's fucking ridiculous, right? They're trying to spin something out of nothing," Logan groaned as she paced around Rei's room. "It was one smoke grenade. The other guys literally tried to kill some kids!"

"I think you should sit down," Rei suggested, patting the side of the bed. She stood near it, while Izumi had made herself comfortable in the desk chair. "You just came out of a coma."

"She's right, though," Izumi chimed in. "They can't really prove anything they're saying." She fidgeted with one of Rei's pens and kicked back in the chair. "All they're doing is trying to sell a story. Once people start asking questions, it'll start falling apart."

Logan shook her head in exasperation. "They already lied once. What's stopping them from doing it again?"

"We can come out with our own statement," Rei said, taking the pen out of Izumi's hand.

"And what are the odds of the media believing whatever we say?"

Izumi grabbed another pen to toy with. "Not fucking likely."

Logan sat down on the edge of the bed and sighed. "Look, can we take this to the treehouse? Your place is great and all, but your parents are actually around, and the last thing we need is them overhearing any of this."

Rei and Izumi looked at each other, and then back at Logan. "About that…" Rei began.

"We got a new pet," Izumi said cheerfully.

"It is not a pet," Rei corrected her. "It's some kind of...monster, I guess. The one that got sent flying out of U.S.J.."

Logan jumped back to her feet. "That fucking bird bitch?" She shouted.

Izumi nodded. "Yes, I guess you could call it a fucking bird bitch. It's staying in the treehouse right now. We managed to snatch it up before the police tracked it down. Now it's just kind of hanging out in the treehouse, until we figure out how its regeneration works." There was a glint in her eye when she talked about it, like a demented kid ready to dissect a frog. "It flew at least a mile and crashed, but by the time we got to it, it didn't have a scratch. Either it has regeneration, or it has shock absorption that lets it take a crash like that without flinching. "

"It's weird, though," Rei said. "It hasn't moved at all since we found it. We had to drag it to the treehouse ourselves."

"So it's just hanging out in the treehouse?" Logan asked. She was tempted to accuse them of messing with her, but she knew her friends. This wasn't the wildest thing they'd ever done, she was just surprised it wasn't her idea. "Back in U.S.J., all it wanted to do was smash things. Especially heads." She looked at Izumi. "It has both of those, by the way. Regeneration and crazy absorption. I mean, I hit that thing hard, and it completely tanked it. Big or not, it should have felt the impact a little bit, at least."

Izumi shot forward in the chair. "I know what I want for my birthday," she said.

"Your birthday isn't for another two months," Rei reminded her.

"An early birthday present, then," Izumi said with a dismissive wave. She fixated on Logan. "We need a DNA sequencer. If we can break down the code, we can figure out what it has and how we can have it, too. We can make progress on the shock absorption in our suits by leaps and bounds." She paused and flashed her sweetest smile. "And since that's kind of a present for the whole group, you could maybe possibly get me a new microscope too."

Rei interjected. "You already have one of those," she pointed out.

"Well, yeah, but it's old. Plus, an electron microscope would make my life so much fucking easier," she said with a sigh. "And if my life is easier, your lives are easier."

"Because you can invent things more easily, or because you'll make our lives harder on purpose?"

"Yes," Izumi said, maintaining an innocent smile.

Logan laughed a bit. "Fine. If my parents ask about the expense, it's for a school project."

Rei raised an eyebrow. "You know those things are thousands of dollars, right?"

"It's okay, they're rich," Logan assured her. "They have lost all concept of how much anything costs."

"Oh wow. That sounds like someone else that I know…"

Logan tilted her head. "Oh, who would that be?"

"Okay, so that is all for our basic safety lesson," Logan announced to the crowd of about eighteen people gathered around the small platform she stood on. Rei, Izumi, and Etsuko stood a step behind her, and Snipe had taken up his post leaning against the nearest wall. "If there are any questions, I am sure our lovely faculty sponsor, Snipe, would be happy to answer them. If not, we can move on to the final announcements that relate to our next club meeting." Nobody raised their hand, so Logan continued. "Alright, well then, on to the next meeting I guess. From now on, we will be meeting at Ground Beta. We have been given permission to use some of the buildings to run mock counter-terrorist missions. Basically, from now during meetings we will try and split up into teams of three to six and just run through simulations. We will be rotating through hostage protection and extraction simulations, or asset protection and bomb defusal simulations. Simulations will be decided the day of the meeting, so preparation time will be limited."

A hand slowly rose in the back of the crowd. Logan called on them. "They won't be real bombs, right?" A nervous student asked.

"Next question," Izumi called out before Logan had a chance to answer.

Another student raised their hand, smiling wildly with excitement. "Well when is the next meeting?"

"I am so glad you asked!" Logan said excitedly. "Our dear secretary, could you please let everyone know the first day we have Ground Beta booked?"

"Sure." Rei lightly punched Logan in the shoulder as she looked at the paper on her clipboard "Our first meeting will be on Monday. That means that you will have the weekend to prepare anything you want. Start figuring out any potential sorts of strategies. What specific type of rifles you want to use: long distance, mid-ranged, short ranged, what kind of secondary would work well with your primary rifle, things like that. We have quite an assortment provided by Logan."

"Alright well, there you go, now unless anyone else has questions, I really must be taking my leave. I have to go to another meeting right after this." Logan looked over at Snipe. "Nobody? Nobody. Okay, great. I will see all of you Monday. Along with any stragglers you manage to bring. Do bear in mind they will have to do safety training before they can participate with you. Anyways, the meeting is now adjourned." Logan turned and began walking over to Snipe. "I'm ready."

Snipe nodded and began leading Logan and the rest of the girls back to the main building. They finally stopped outside of the conference room. "Okay now, lassies. I am sorry, but this is something you cannot all stick together for. You all can feel free to wait out here in the hall, but only Logan can come in." The girls frowned and all crouched along the wall across from the door as Logan was guided into the room.

The desks formed a U-shape facing towards the wall with the door. There was a single chair at the open end of the U for Logan to sit in. "Well this is a rather uncomfortable set up. Feels a lot like I'm on trial over here." Logan inched towards her chair as Snipe went around the desks and took his seat. "Oh, would you look at that. You really have all the first year teachers here. I don't even know some of you. Even All Might stayed after for this. Is it really this serious?"

"We consider it to be very serious," Nezu said. "Please, take your seat." He waited for Logan to sit down. "Miss Logan, you must recognize that your actions the other day were incredibly reckless. You were badly injured, and it easily could have been worse."

"In all fairness. You have a mummy wielding dual arm slings sitting in this very room."

"It is the duty of all faculty members to protect the students at all costs," Eraser Head replied, his voice muffled by bandages.

Logan leaned back and crossed her arms. "I would say that as a human being that feels empathy, it is a moral obligation to help in any way I can to potentially save another person's life."

Snipe was the next to speak up. "You have to consider the situation before you jump into it like that," he explained.

"Exactly. You could have made it a lot worse," Midnight interrupted. "Even if you only meant to help."

"Your colleague over there could be dead if it wasn't for my actions." There was a barely-there frustration in Logan's voice, but she was unmoving in her seat. "Of course, there is no way we could ever know what really would have happened in the time that I bought. What would you rather, him be potentially dead or my getting a skull fracture? Job or not, aren't you people supposed to be heroes?" She looked around the room, holding each teacher's gaze firmly for a moment before moving on to the next. "Aren't you supposed to want to save the lives of others regardless? I was actively watching someone getting their skull bashed in and you are trying to tell me that it was wrong to do something in what I thought could have easily been his last few moments of life."

"We are heroes," Vlad King responded with a stern expression. "It is our job to save the lives of others. It isn't your job. You are unprepared. Your actions were not heroic, they were reckless."

"I don't think that saying the only reason you save people is because it's your job is a very good look. I also never claimed that my actions were heroic. I did what I felt I had to do in a bad situation. I acted on pretty much just instinct. I mean, come on, if I had really been weighing out my options, would I have saved Aizawa? No offense, but I mean really… Aizawa? A man who already has a hero superiority complex? There are better people to save."

Everyone in the room tilted their heads in confusion, some staring at Logan, and some looking to Eraser Head. "You acted on instinct, and that was reckless," Eraser Head said. "There is no guarantee that your actions did anything except damage to yourself."

"He was quite literally in the process of bashing your head into concrete. It, at the very least, did less damage to you," she vocalized, keeping her last thought of, "Maybe I really should have just let him keep at it," to herself.

"Listen clearly," Eraser Head instructed, disregarding her interruption. "We have several things we need to address besides this now. I have known you for less than a week and I am already fully aware of how incredibly stubborn you can be in your beliefs. You do need to realize the potential dangers you could have put yourself in, however. Let's think beyond just yourself for a second, alright? You didn't die, but you very easily could have, had you been slammed any harder. We are all adults here. We have lived through all our major life events, and you are in only your first year of high-school. You have much more in life you have yet to experience, and that is why anytime there is a death of a child, there is significantly more public grief. The murder of a child in a school geared towards making heroes could cause a chain reaction throughout society, giving bad people a sense of security in their actions when they see the League of Villain's accomplishment. On top of that, your death could lead to a complete shutdown of U.A.'s hero program, as well as adding new regulations to other hero programs. Deaths of heroes are expected. When innocent civilians die under hero watch, it does much more to interrupt the relative peace and security that society feels."

Logan shifted in her seat. "...Give me a second, I need to find a counter to that."

"You don't need to search for a counter, because you know that he is correct," Power Loader advised.

"I dunno, I still don't like that one of the excuses was that it could have shut down U.A.'s hero program," Logan said, rolling her eyes. "I guess the other stuff has some sort of validity though. Ugh, listen. If I just say I'm sorry, can we move on? I'll just agree with whatever you say and we can be on our way if you want. Do I need to sign something saying I won't do it again, or are you giving me detention, or what?"

Nezu shook his head. "No, we are not going to give you any disciplinary action beyond this meeting. We just called you here so that we could hopefully help you to understand the issues with your actions during the attack. Now, would you perhaps like to further explain your comment on Aizawa's hero superiority complex because that is a rather alarming claim?"

"Honestly, it doesn't need much explaining. I said what I meant. I am tired and I just really want to go home. Can I go home please?" Logan began to stand up from her chair.

Snipe frowned as he looked at the girl. "Yes. You go ahead and head home, you little rascal. With all of the events that have happened recently, you and your friends can stay home on the half-day tomorrow," he offered. "There aren't any core classes and you never got the same break as everyone else to cool down after the attack. If you need anything, you can reach out over email, and the school also can give you a mental health counselor if you ever feel it's necessary." Snipe gestured to Hound Dog, who sat on the other side of the U shape.

Logan looked Hound Dog up and down with a mildly alarmed expression. "No, thank you," she told Snipe.

As Logan walked to the door, she could hear Present Mic behind her presumably talking to Eraser Head. "What exactly did she mean by you having a hero superiority complex?"

The vigilantes had been investigating these targets for several days, and after a lot of work, they'd finally found the hideout. The targets in question were a well-equipped mob group, and they were bound to be a lot harder than the chicken fighters. With that in mind, the girls had decided to devote their night to reconnaissance. They needed to know exactly what the building they were attacking was going to be like; rooms, hallways, windows, wall thicknesses, and any staircases were all vital for Rei to consider when planning a proper attack. So, the Sideline Squad had been monitoring the movements of the group, and made their move on a night when no one would be in the building.

"You're sure they won't be there?" Logan asked as they wove through the streets, making their way towards the mob hideout. "It's going to be really awkward if they come home while we're poking around."

"They won't be," Rei assured her.

Izumi took a long stride to pull just ahead of the other two. "And besides, we can slip out if they do show up. A good ol' tactical retreat."

"I don't think knocking everyone unconscious and hoping they get amnesia qualifies as 'slipping out.'"

"Eh, details."

Rei sighed. "In any case, they shouldn't show up. They stick pretty hard to their schedu-"

The girls stopped dead in the tracks as a figure emerged from an alleyway on their right, effectively blocking their path. Had it been a normal civilian, they could have just run past, but this was clearly someone intent on blocking their way. Even in the dim streetlight, it wasn't hard to make out who it was. Her spiky black hair and shape-fitting costume were a dead giveaway, and though they couldn't clearly see her face in this lighting, she radiated a smug aura.

"Midnight?" Logan blurted out.

"Ah, so you are familiar with me," the hero cooed, resting a hand on her hip. "That's good. I'm glad to see my reputation is still holding its shape." She looked the group up and down, apparently evaluating their costumes and trying to size them up. "As cute as you are, I can't afford the risk of playing with all three of you. Let's make this easy, shall we?" She reached for her arm, tearing at the thin fabric that covered it. "Sweet dreams, ladies."

The girls looked at each other as a thin violet haze spread over them, wrapping around the group gently, almost like a blanket. Logan let her knees give out, stumbling and falling dramatically into Rei's arms. "Oh, how can this happen?" Logan cried. "Cheap perfume! My one weakness!" She reached into the air with one arm, staring cloudy-eyed at the overcast sky above them. "It's no use. The stench is too strong! I'm fading away."

Rei held back a laugh. "No, Sync, don't fall asleep. We need you!"

"Strats," Logan said in a dreamy voice. "You're strong. You're the smartest dumbass I've ever met. You'll make it without me. Both of you, carry on for me."

Midnight tapped her heel against the concrete impatiently. "Alright, I get it. It's not working on you," she snapped.

Izumi tapped her helmet. "Yeah, we've got gas masks, dumbass."

"I figured it wouldn't be that easy," the hero sighed, pulling her whip from her belt. "Let's have some fun then, shall we?"

"Couldn't they at least have sent another hero after us?" Izumi groaned as Logan rightened herself. "They're giving us the retirees. I almost feel insulted."

Midnight snapped her whip towards Izumi, who ducked below the strike. "Retiree, huh?" The hero growled. "Well, this retiree still has some moves." She brought the whip back around, wrapping it around Izumi's ankle and pulling hard.

Izumi felt the ground fall out from underneath her feet, and just as quickly, she fell down against it. In all fairness, it wasn't a bad move on Midnight's part, but Izumi had been working a lot on these suits of hers, thanks to those samples from Nomu. The shock absorption wasn't perfected, but it was leagues better than what it had been. So, when she hit the concrete, it felt a lot like getting thrown onto a mattress. "Oh, I've really outdone myself," Izumi said as she got back up, unable to contain her glee.

"Izumi, calm down," Logan laughed. "I can't even see your smile but I know that it's creepier than the grandma in handcuffs over there."

Rei reigned in her laughter. "Guys aren't these insults a little bit…. I don't know, ageist?"

"Well I mean yeah but you have got to be mean in a fight. It's how you build up the 'I'm not afraid' persona. It's in the job description," Logan said as she rushed forward on the right while Rei rushed up the left side. Izumi stayed towards the back and took aim at Midnight with her custom rifle. "Heads up, by the way. There are three of us and you will have literally no chance of winning this battle, so if you want to run, we won't follow you." Midnight flung her whip towards Logan as she approached wrapping up the girl's body. Rei quickly wrapped her fire escrima in the whip and activated it melting through the whip's leather. Rei blocked a roundhouse kick that Midnight aimed to her head and then tucked Midnight's leg into her elbow. While Midnight was held in place by her leg, Logan grabbed the arm that held the leftover bits of the older woman's whip. Logan and Rei stretched out Midnight using the right arm and left leg that they captured.

"Hah. Well, Midnight!," Rei gloated with a weak imitation of a mocking tone loud enough for midnight to hear though her helmet. "Seems you won't even be able to stay up until Midnight!"

Logan looked at her friend and gently shook her head. "Rei. Nice effort. But we really need to work on your witty lines."

"Yeah. I know. Anyways, Izumi, can you just do it now?" Rei said, thankful that her mask helped hide both the groups conversation and her obvious personal embarrassment.

Izumi finally stopped shaking her head in response to Rei's line and quickly took aim at Midnight's forehead. She squeezed the trigger and one of the electric rounds hit the woman slightly left to the center of her forehead. When the round hit, Midnight was shoved backwards by the force, and Logan and Rei let her fall to the ground before letting her go. They retracted their hands just before the shock actually went out. Midnight let out a short scream before passing out a few seconds later.

"Well. I mean, it's a really good thing her quirk can't affect us," Logan noted as she stretched her arms. "That made that fight way too easy."

Rei looked down at the unconscious woman. "Yeah, well, she's a Hero. What are we going to do with her? We can't just call the police to take her away, and we need to make sure wherever we leave her is at least relatively safe."

"Yeah, also, with a costume like that you definitely wouldn't want the potential for any of her psychotic fanboys to find her," Izumi said remembering a few encounters with horny teenage boy fans of the woman in middle school.

Logan and Rei grimaced. "Ugh… Yeah," the girls groaned in unison.

"We can put her up on a rooftop somewhere," Izumi suggested. "That would probably be our best option."

"Yeah, that sounds like a decent idea. Let's find one high up," Rei said, nodding in approval.

"Alright."

Midnight woke up about thirty minutes after the girls had placed her on one of the nearby rooftops. She was still dazed but started to remember the events that unfolded a few moments before she was incapacitated. Her anger grew as she pieced together the events and she pulled out her phone. "Hey, Aizawa. I know you aren't in the best state right now, but as soon as you are healed, I'm going to want your help."
