Chapter 1
Severus Snape POV
Severus was furious! Dumbledore had sent him to pick up Harry Potter who was no doubt just his father reborn! He had just apparated to the hut Potter apparently lived in and knocked on the door. He waited a few minutes and was starting to get impatient so when he knocked next he cast a charm to amplify the noise only to be greeted by a rather large man pointing a shotgun at him. With a flick of his wrist, Severus had disarmed the man and with another, the gun vanished.
"Thank you for such a warm welcome," Severus said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But I need to speak to Harry Potter."
The man quickly tried to close the door but Severus simply vanished it and walked inside only to see Petunia Evans.
"You!"
"Hello Petunia," He said with a sneer"Dumbledore failed to mention that you of all people got custody of Potter. I imagine you are the reason Potter hasn't responded to his letters."
He then turned and saw Potter staring in awe. Unbelievable. He looked exactly like his father except for those eyes, he really did have Lily's eyes.
"Over here, Potter!" He said harshly. And once Potter was close enough he practically shoved the letter into the boy's hands. "Read it quickly."
Then Vernon finally got the courage to try and stop things. "NO BOY! Don't read that letter!" he bellowed but it was too late as Potter had already gotten halfway through it.
Once Potter had finished the letter he looked at Severus suspiciously. "Witchcraft and Wizardry? Magic doesn't exist."
Annoyed but used to being sent to help oblivious Muggleborns he said "Then I'll give you an example." he looked around and decided to cast a simple levitation spell on the sofa.
Once he canceled the spell he saw Potter look on in shock and awe while he said "And I can learn to do that too!" with excitement.
"Yes, Potter you can."
Then Vernon interrupted with "He's not going! When he landed on our doorstep I swore that I would stomp that freakishness out of him!"
"He is going, and you can't stop it. After all, I can use magic you cannot."
"Bu-" before he could respond Severus cast a silent silenco to shut him up.
"Wait," Potter said to Petunia "You knew and you didn't tell me!"
"Knew!" shrieked Petunia. "Knew! Of course, we knew! How could you not be, my dreaded sister, being what she was? Oh, she got a letter just like that and disappeared off to that – that school – and came home every vacation with her pockets full of frog spawn, turning teacups to rats. I was the only one who saw her for who she was – a freak! But for my mother and father, oh no, it was Lily this and Lily that, they were proud of having a witch in the family."
At this comment, Severus's face grew dark and he looked murderous. "Don't insult Lily." he snarled.
"That's rich coming from you did you know Lily didn't leave her room for weeks once she came home after what you said." Petunia said.
"I have atoned for my mistakes." He said simply. "Potter I will be picking you up at 6 A.M. tomorrow to get your supplies. Make sure you're ready." He then canceled the silencio he cast on Vernon and disapparated.
"How exactly could you fail to mention that he was being raised by Petunia Evans!"
Dumbledore did not seem fazed by Severus shouting and simply said "It hadn't crossed my mind."
"Dumbledore you sent Potter to her of all people! She hates magic and has ever since you said she couldn't go to Hogwarts!"
"It was the safest place for him Severus."
"Did you even look in the Potter's wills for someone other than Black! Because I can assure you Lily would have never let Petunia raise her son!"
"It was better this way. Would you rather I send him to a wizarding family who will spoil him endlessly? Would you rather have him be arrogant instead of kind and compassionate?"
"You could find a family who wouldn't spoil him like that! Not everyone in our world worships him!"
"I can see you won't change your opinion so let's move on to other matters."
Severus was pacing in his quarters thinking.
Potter looked so thin... Perhaps he was starved... I wouldn't put it past Petunia…
He didn't act like his father at all just… oblivious… I suppose I should give him a chance… For now, I'll treat him like I would any muggleborn… Then once he's sorted we'll see...
