No sooner had she returned and Zagara acknowledged the command, did Mengsk show his face to her again, she first glancing to the device before his face as he spoke with blame on her. "Kerrigan. Look what you have wrought. Thousands dead, all for your revenge."
"Their blood is on your hands, Arcturus. You made every part of this happen. Those five long years ago on Tarsonis has come back to truly ruin your world.
"I have done great and terrible things, it is true. And I would again to protect humanity from monsters like you." Kerrigan huffed in annoyance of his very tone that SHE was the cause of all of this in the first place, never taking the blame for his own stupidity.
"You use words like weapons, Arcturus, but words cannot save you now."
"Oh, I have other weapons. I just wanted to say goodbye, Kerrigan, as it should have been. Those five long years ago on Tarsonis will finally come to an end, permanently." The device shut off and Kerrigan felt the pain before she was addressed by her council.
"Our outlying broods are being eradicated!"
"The Terrans have deployed a Psi Destroyer." Stukov voiced as he explained how the machine would work, having been able to pull some knowledge from the infested troops fighting the infested below. "It corrupts our hive mind, ripping us apart from inside. The field will quickly kill any Zerg who enters it." That explains it so well, Mengsk is using a barrier to stop her force, briefly taking noticing of its orange dome now protecting the capital building, his throne.
"Understood." With that, came the knowledge that the Swarm was halted, not stopped as she spoke of what was to come next. "Listen to me, all of you. The Dominion will launch an assault in a moment."
"A diversion, to keep us from dealing with the Psi Destroyer." Zagara voiced as Kerrigan agreed.
"Yes, and we're going to let them think we're diverted." With that, she gave her commands to the force before her. "Zagara, you have the Swarm, hold the middle. Stukov, take Alice and a force and screen her flanks." And she addressed the final two. "Dehaka and Skorch... this is your moment."
"The device uses this psi connection you share. But we do not have a psi connection. we will not need it."
"Exactly. Gather your packs." Mengsk may act as if he has all the cards, but Kerrigan had unexpectedly had a pair of wild cards in her deck against him...
First, she had to test out that little dome of orange that was enveloping the platform and would consume the city if nothing was done to stop it. "Let's see what your Psi Destroyer can do, Mengsk." The soaring Mutas barely had time to go to town on the small Terran forces nearby before their bodies erupted into fragments and Kerrigan grimaced as this meant trouble. "The Swarm is going to torn apart... We have to shut down this field now!" She channeled her thoughts to the two pack brothers in explaining it out, her Overlords and Seers detailing the perimeter of the platform.
"Dehaka, Skorch, this is the central hub of the Psi Destroyer. We're going to bring it offline, permanently. The Psi Destroyer uses power links to extend its range. Disable them and the field will shut down temporarily."
"This field poses no threat to me. I will rip apart this power link, myself."
The Swarm shall be able to strike once the links are destroyed, Queen of Blades." Skorch voiced as the both of them emerged from a vent system as Kerrigan confirmed.
"Once the field is down, I'll command the Swarm and destroy their defenses."
"Then it is time to act." The Primal Zerg made their move into the first power link, cutting down the Terran forcesas Dehaka could leap onto cliffs and down while also mending his ruined flesh while Skorch deal a wide arc of damage and picked up Yagdra's flaming breath and left charred remains in place of Terran soldiers and melting through the power link as they both voiced for the next link to destroy in finding it first.
"We must go, we gather our packs. We will return and destroy the next power link." They headed into the vents as the Destroyer's dome lost control and retracted into the hub as Kerrigan commanded with pre-mutated structure landing in the resource sector she had landed in.
"The destroyer field is down, prepare a hive cluster for combat."
"The Psi Destroyer is rerouting power. The field will reactivate shortly."
"Keep me informed on its progress, Izsha. For now, I'm going to crush the Dominion." The cluster grew as Kerrigan commanded. "Go! Attack while the field is down!" Small her force may be, but effective it was from the start as they tore through a small base and nearly gunned for the next one before Izsha warned the Queen.
"Energy spike detected. The destroyer field will reactivate soon." Not taking the chance, Kerrigan ordered it to be done.
"All forces, pull back to the hive cluster!" Without the first link, the dome couldn't reach the cluster, but that didn't stop Mengsk from trying to muscle his way out of the Swarm's retribution.
"Kerrigan, you and your Swarm will never threaten humanity again after today!" But Kerrigan didn't care as there were still two other power links to destroy and Dehaka was on the case as she spoke.
"Dehaka, the field's returned. I've pulled back the Swarm. It's up to you now."
"My pack is ready, eager to destroy the power link." Skorch didn't reply, but Kerrigan had no time to think on it as she held the ground against the Dominion before the power link fell... both fell actually as Kerrigan reached out and found Skorch... having brought a likewise pack, but it was somehow comprised of Guardians blitzing the third site before Izsha spoke.
"The Psi Destroyer is permanently offline." Kerrigan shook off the advanced thinking of Skorch on attacking the third while Dehaka had the second taken care of to focus on the platform before her.
"We don't rest until that hub is destroyed. All forces, strike now! For the Swarm!" With that, the combined force of the Swarm rushed in and started to tear through everything the Dominion had on site as Mengsk firmly denied his loss of ground and power.
"I will defend humanity from you, Kerrigan!"
"Humanity already doesn't see you as its protector anymore." Despite everything that the TErrans had, there was nothing they could do to stop the Swarm from destroyign the hub and terminating the Destroyer for good as Kerrigan channeled her voice to Zagara. "We've done it, the Psi Destroyer is finished. Zagara, report."
"We are pushing the Dominion into the Imperial sector now." She peered down to the palace and allowed a smirk to slip across her face.
"Was that your last card, Mengsk? It wasn't good enough." She turned to return to the Leviathan to compose her focus and ready her for the final battle between her and Mengsk...
Kerrigan said her words, spoke her praises for Dehaka and Skorch's actions in the fight and what is to come, pleased to have Zagara by her side in the final battle, and Stukov voiced his willingness to fight to the bitter end once the conflict on Korhal ended and the Swarm will focus on the one who had fallen from the ranks of gods, Amon, Alice agreeing to join the fight and put the end of the god that dared to trample over everyone for ITS agenda, but the most that came to Kerrigan's mind was what she felt with looking at the Palace, Zerg Overlords and drop pods surrounding the city as she spoke with resolve.
"Can you feel it, Mengsk? All your plans, and lies, and manipulations are crashing down around you. Soon, all the pains you've cause will come back to you. And I hope when that pain comes, you'll hear all the screaming done in your name." She did converse with Abathur on the fact that the 'greatest' the Swarm had become was for the sake of vengance, hers, but Abathur was not swayed on that, that it was the leader's purpose that made the Swarm into the weapon and force it was now, when the ideal changed the Swarm would change in relation.
It was as simple as that, but the gene-weaver was still unclear on Terran ideas or words with KErrigan telling him that he was not bad sometimes.
No, the time for words had passed, now was the time for action as Kerrigan readied herself for the fight, now it was the time...
...For a Reckoning...
