Chapter 1

Introductions:

Berk is one of the most dangerous, high crime rated cities in the country. The police Department always carry losses, officers who don't go in vain, they're saying is called. We are family, we go down as one.

It was 12:00 am at the B.P.D station. Rookie officer Astrid Hofferson was standing at the door of the chief's office. Police chief Sam (Stoick) Haddock. She was so excited for this. When the door opened the chief motioned for her to come in. She sat at the desk and the chief read her file. "Went to Berk High. Like my son. Top athlete. Impressive scores in the academy. Not close to our best cop but very impressive. So, you ready for this?". Astrid nodded. The next thing was not what she expected. The chief smiled. "You will be assigned to our best cop. Desk 013. Dismissed.". Astrid walked to the section and saw she's on Homicide and narcotics task force. She was walking until a man was running for the door. As she draws her weapon another cop jumped on the thug and kept his gun to his head. "You move, you die.". The cop was a detective with Auburn hair and was well build. The other cops just stared at him. One went. "Haddock! Just because you're the best that doesn't mean you can shoot every escaping criminal!". The detective talked back. "Well, sorry if I am the only one willing to lethal up.". Another cop went. "Damn you Hunter!". Hunter went. "No, damn you!". The cop was Hunter (Hiccup) Haddock. He was the best of the best. A nerd in High School and a loner but now the best cop in the force. He sat down at his desk and wrote his report with Astrid staring at him. The chief decided to tell Hiccup the news. "Son, meet you're new partner.". Hiccup dropped the report and looked at his father quite annoyed. "I told you! I work alone!". Scot (Snotlout) Jorganson was Hiccup's cousin and a massive douchebag. "Why!? Because your friend ended up to be a criminal?" some other officers laughed at him. All Hiccup did was showing the middle finger. Astrid was actually surprised. Usually Hiccup would've kicked Snotlout's a*s. Stoick quiet the cops. "She will be your partner and that's final.". Hiccup sighed annoyed. "Yes sir.".

Astrid sat next to Hiccup. An officer teamed up with a detective was pretty rare. "Listen rookie, I have one rule around me, don't piss me off.". Astrid was stunned. "Understood Hiccup.". The people in the sector gasped. Hiccup gave a glare. If glares could kill, he would've killed half the department by now. "Listen here, you call me Hunter Haddock. Or sir. Got that?". Astrid looked down. "Yes sir.". Hiccup answered his phone. "Detective Haddock.". He looked at his desk. "Nah, you got the wrong number.". Hiccup slammed the phone down. Astrid gave a confused look. Hiccup saw this. "My ex-wife.". Astrid had an open hanging mouth. "You were married?". Hiccup gave a sigh. "For five f*cking years.". She stared at him. "Kids?". Hiccup was like. "No. She couldn't have kids.". He then look at her. "What about you?". She blushed. "No. Broke it with Scot last month.". Hiccup raised a brow. "You dated my cousin?". She nodded. "For two years. Broke it off when I saw him in the shower with another woman. Living with my mother.". Hiccup sighed. "Yeah, sucks. You feel like you were with your soulmate and then, poof. You're wrong.". Then his phone rang again. "Detective Haddock.". He wrote a note. "Stand off, parking lot, Baker street. Got it.". He grabbed his gun and badge and walked for the door. Astrid on his tail.
