Izuku Midoriya sat in a chair in a hospital room, her hand still shaking badly as she had some soot under her fingernails after she had tried to clean it up as best that she could. The police had already questioned her a little bit after the doctor's had saved what they could of her charred right arm, ending up having to amputate halfway between her elbow and shoulder since the arm far too burned to repair and mangled beyond recognition. She pushed herself to her feet and walked her way over to a nearby window and looked out into the rain that blanketed the city that she had once been happy to call her home. Though right now all she could think about was the same hopelessness and despair she had felt when she was trapped in the burning building with the bitter smoke tearing at her lungs and eyes as her hope for survival slowly drained away with her will to live. That was until she heard a voice call out to her, one that promised her safety and revenge for the heroes that supposed ignored her cries for help before her throat was raw from the smoke and once she agreed she felt herself get transported and seemingly dropped off on an operating table where she was saved. Now that thought was still lingering on the edge of her mind, who had saved her, who exactly did she sign her life away to?
It was a few days before Izuku was back in school, heavy bags under her eyes from sleepless nights with nightmares of the burning building. Her right sleeve cuff was pinned against the shoulder of her shirt as she was barely able to focus in class as her eyelids felt like they weighed a ton and her hair was much messier than it usually was as well. The entire time she was sitting at her desk she felt every other student's eyes like they were trying to burn holes into her as she slowly slid down not really enjoying the attention. She pulled her most recent notebook filled with quirk information and tried to focus on that as a distraction as she felt even more so as an easy target ever since she got back. As soon as the bell rung Midoriya got to her feet and put her stuff in her backpack as quickly as she could before making her way towards the door. She made sure to stop by her locker on her way, wanting to get out of the building before anyone caught up to her as she got the rest of her stuff/ Before she could leave though she felt someone grab onto her backpack and as she whipped around she found herself face to face with Bakugou Katsuki as he forced her back against the lockers.
"I honestly hope you still don't dream about becoming a hero Deku." Bakugou smirked. "You were useless before and now you would be dead the moment you tried to help anyone, I mean lets be serious here you couldn't even save your worthless life."
Midoriya glared at Bakugou, not giving him the chance to gain satisfaction of getting under her skin anymore though that only seemed to piss him off more as he shoved her back against the lock again. He yanked her bag away from her and pulled her notebook from her bag before he looked through it.
"What is this supposed to be huh?" Bakugou asked her. "Is that how you are going to try to be a hero?"
People had gathered around and watched as Bakugou smirked exploding the notebook in front of her, Midoriya jumped at Bakugou but he stepped out of the way and kicked her into another set of lockers. He gripped the front of her shirt and lifted her up as he got in her face.
"If you want to be a hero then the least you could do is protect yourself." Bakugou hissed as a couple of students started to move in to try to intervene.
Bakugou smirked and tossed Midoriya one last time before he left the school as a few students checked on her. As he glanced back one last time Bakugou couldn't help but feel like there was something off about the three people helping Midoriya as if he had a slight memory of who they were but he couldn't confidently place where he may have seen them before. Were they really students at their school or was there something else that was bothering him as he watched the girl with bright pink hair and dark purple almost hypnotic eyes. Bakugou scoffed as he pushed the though from his mind, not really understanding where any sort of care for who Midoriya hung out with sprung into his mind but even though he tried to say he didn't care something still weighed heavy on his mind as he made his way home.
Midoriya coughed softly as she got up, rubbing the back of her head slightly as she walked out with a few of the students as they made sure she was okay. They packed around her a bit more as a large group of people start to rush by them yelling about Mt. Lady fighting a villain nearby and their group started to make their way towards the commotion thinking it would cheer Midoriya up a little to see a Pro-Hero in action. Midoriya didn't know what else to do than follow the three other students around her since they pretty much were surrounding her like a protective detail though she did watch Mt. Lady fight with some interest which quickly turned bitter as the Pro-Hero seemed more focused about the media attention than her actual job once it was all said and done.
Serana Connors, the girl with pink hair, was the first to notice the shift in Midoriya's mood and suggested that they leave and all get home before anything else exciting happens which Midoriya only really nodded to. She had quickly noted that Serana's voice had a tendency to take on a melodic almost sing-song type tone sometimes when she suggested something. Midoirya brushed it off as a part of her bubbly personality since she was pretty energetic, she just shook any thought from her head as Serana started to pull her through the crowd. She glanced back Kiba Hitaki and Shishima Mortama as they were talking to each other Kiba was much shorter than Shishima at 5' 2" and much hairier arms than you would expect from a 15 year old and he was more over a more collected and reserved type which was pretty much in complete contrast to Serana. Then of course there was Shishima, the tallest of their new group, he had messy blonde hair and steely gray eyes and for what credit Midoriya could give him he seemed to be the impromptu leader of the three of them, doing what he could to keep Serana and Kiba from butting heads all the time whenever their personalities may clash.
As they headed towards Midroya's apartment Kiba was the first one to leave as Serana spun around, humming to herself as they walked and her skirt spun around her slightly. Shishima stepped up beside her and gently bumped her with his shoulder.
"So how are you doing Midoriya?"
"Well, fresh air is always good, it clears the mind."
"You know what I mean Midoriya, your mood just suddenly plummeted after the fight was over
like someone just flipped some sort of switch in your mind."
"I'm fine Shishima, don't worry."
He only nodded and waved to Serana as she ran up to the front door of her house, leaving just
the two of them now as they walked in silence for a bit before Shishima cleared his throat causing Midoriya to glance over at him.
"What's up Shishima?"
"Nothing, just wanted to make sure you weren't in the middle of your own mind."
Midoriya only nodded as they walked up the stairs towards her house, though as Bakugou brushed by them it did raise a slight question in Midoriya's mind. Once they got to her house Shishima pulled the notebook Bakugou had burnt out of his backpack, though most of it of illegible now Midoriya had to admit that she was at least slightly touched by the gesture as she took it from them, muttering a quiet thank you before she went inside.
As she stepped into her apartment her mom ran up and hugged her tightly examining her face and touching a bruise on her jaw that Midoriya only now noticed. "I swear, that boy is more trouble than some of the people the police arrest these days."
"Mom, I'm fine alright." Midoriya replied she kissed her cheek softly. "Besides some of my classmates walked me home."
"Oh I wish I could've thanked them, the small things really make people true heroes."
Midoriya nodded slightly. "Well I am going to get cleaned up, and I'll be sure to invite them in next time alright?"
"You better and be quick. I don't want the food to get cold alright?"
As Midoriya stepped into her room she flinched slightly as a cold voice came into her head, giving her clear instructions causing her to smirk before taking a shower and once she was done she joined her mom for dinner.
