Disclaimer: Naruto doesn't belong to me.
"Does his father plan on choosing him as the next ambassador after his death?" Her father asked looking at her nervous face.
"I don't know, father." Hinata quietly said.
On Saturday morning, her father has called her to his office. She thought he might have wanted to ask her about school, but she was surprised when he asked about Naruto instead.
She didn't know the answer to his question.
They talked a lot, and she knew from his words that he had a great relationship with his father. But they never really talked about the future.
And she appreciated that about him. Planning the future was pretty much all she did with everyone, beside Hanabi. And she was thankful that Naruto focused more on what was happening at the moment than the future.
"Is he interested in taking office?" Her father's question snapped her out of her thoughts.
"I'm not sure."
He straightened up. "What does he plan on doing if he doesn't?"
She shook her head once more. "I don't know."
The only thing Naruto talked about was that he was planning on going to university. She knew that for sure. But nothing more.
"Yet, you agreed to his proposition to be friends." He said. "When you rejected Toneri's confession back in Kumo, I wasn't opposed to it." He said and her heart skipped a beat. "I also assumed you also just weren't interested in making friends at all, since you refused to continue hanging out with him afterwards."
She stayed quiet for a second.
"I-It just didn't feel right to be friends after."
It was really uncomfortable because despite the chivalry he showed in front of her father. It was obvious that he wasn't accepting her rejection.
That's why she was more than relieved when her father announced that they were returning to Konoha.
She wouldn't have to see him again. At least not for a while.
"I know. You told me that." He said. "I just want to know Naruto's plans for his future. So, make sure you find out today."
She looked at him in confusion. "Today?"
"He's called me to ask my permission to show you around Konoha." He informed her. "He told me he had your consent. But I don't remember you mentioning any of that."
She did agree to go out with him on Saturday, but he hadn't mentioned it again after he….
She had to really fight the blush coming up to her cheeks at the memory.
Oh Kami.
"I-I must h-have forgotten, father."
"This is the second time already you've forgotten to mention something concerning that young man." He stated. "This isn't like you, Hinata."
"I'm sorry."
He let out a tired sigh. "I told him to make sure you're back before sunset."
"Y-Yes father."
"He's picking you up in two hours."
As she stayed in her room lost in her own thought, she couldn't help her slightly shaking hands. She looked at her reflection still deep in thoughts
Why was she so nervous?
Her lavender eyes slowly moved to her phone resting on her nightstand when it started ringing. She grabbed it and looked at the screen only to see the name of the person who was causing her to be so nervous.
She answered the call faster than she would like to admit and brought it to her ear.
"H-Hello?" She quietly answered hoping it wasn't some ads.
"Thought you would never pick up." She heard the familiar voice say. "Hi, Hinata."
She placed a shaking hand to her cheeks. If she thought she liked his voice before, she absolutely loved it now.
"H-Hello, Naruto." She softly greeted. "I didn't know it was you."
"Did your father tell you?" He excitedly asked and she couldn't hear him move around on the other side.
"Y-Yes." She quietly looking at her reflection through the mirror. "Did you take his number from my schoolbag?"
"Nope." He said smugly.
"Then h-how did you get it?"
"I know how to use my father's connections." He chuckled as she heard him moving around. "They come in handy."
She shook her head smiling at his words.
He spoke again. "I'll see you later, okay?"
"O-Okay." She said before they hung up.
She sighed, still smiling as she looked down at the now dark screen of her phone.
She was kind of disheartened that Hanabi wasn't here. she was gone on a school's field trip for the week-end. And no matter how much, she knows her sister would have teased her mercilessly, she always eased her nerves when she was nervous.
And that's exactly what she was.
So nervous.
She never had any particular sentiment when her father used to encourage her to accept Toneri's invitations. So, she assumes it was normal not to feel anything.
But now she had this knot in her stomach that wouldn't go away as she walked to her closet. She pulled out an off-shoulder summer dress and quickly placed it on her bed before she started debating on what to wear.
So many 'what ifs' went through her mind as she walked toward her bathroom to take a bath. And the more she thought about the possible outcomes of today, the more nervous she became.
Hinata was more than surprised when Naruto had stopped the car in front of a botanical garden.
"You told me your hobby was to press flowers, so I assumed you would like this before lunch." He had said.
And she was more than happy indeed.
They walked around playing twenty questions, that turned into more than twenty. Asking questions that would than bring a conversation before asking more questions.
She was so much more comfortable around him, so comfortable that she even noticed how her stuttering had faded around him.
"How many friends do you have?" It was her turn to ask a question.
"My ride-or-die friends are Shikamaru, Kiba and Sasuke." He said. "Then there are the other members of the circle."
"Shikamaru is the one with the ponytail. He's in my geography class." She said actually remembering the guy who always slept in class yet always knew the answers to everything.
"Very good, Hinata." He grinned. "Though the lazy bastard isn't hard to miss."
She smiled in agreement bore furrowing her eyebrows. "But I don't think there's a Kiba in any of my classes."
"He doesn't go to our school." Naruto explained. "He goes to another one with Lee, Ino, Sakura and choji." He said then chuckled at her confused expression. "Other people from my circle of friends."
"Oh." She nodded in understanding.
"Yeah. They call our school pretentious and snob." He snorted.
"Why pretentious and snob?" She asked curiously.
"Because our dear school doesn't accept anything less than a Hyuuga princess." He said teasingly and it took her a second to react.
"H-Hey!" She frowned looking up at him.
He laughed at her slightly offended expression before asking. "What about you? Friends?"
"Neji and Tenten are in Kumo. Temari is a little older and is already in university in Suna."
"How did you know them?" He asked genuinely curious.
"Neji is my cousin. Tenten was the first person who came to me on my first day of school in Kumo and I met Temari when she was tutoring me." She said as they walked closer to a small bridge.
Naruto hummed and she took her eyes off the small river under the bridge. "So, you do have friends."
"Yes, I do." She nodded. "I told you."
He scoffed at her show-offish tone. "Your turn."
"When is your birthday?" She asked after barely a few seconds of thought.
"Nice." He smiled. "October 10th. You?"
"December 27th." She said and he nodded. "How long have you been doing Judo?"
He looked at her curiously because he never mentioned that to her.
"Your sister told you?" He asked and she nodded with a smile. "I was seven. It was either that or have my father assign me a bodyguard until the day I die."
She slightly giggled shaking her head. "That wouldn't be so bad."
"No thanks. I love my freedom too much." He smiled. "Who was your first kiss?" He then asked and watched as her cheeks slightly turned pink.
Her eyes very slightly widened as she looked straight ahead as they crossed the bridge.
"I pass!" She said walking slightly faster.
He narrowed his eyes moving to match her pace. "Hey. You can't pass!"
"Yes, I can!"
"No, you can't."
She looked straight again as her cheeks got slightly pinker. "I pass."
"Why won't you tell me?" He asked slightly frowning at her hesitation.
"I don't want to!" She protesting getting slightly redder.
The fuck is she blushing about?
"Do you love the bastard or something?" He asked, not really liking her flustered expression at the moment.
That was a first.
He always loved her blushing, absolutely adored it. But he wasn't the cause the cause of it at this moment and it brought a very unpleasant feeling in his gut.
He did not like it.
He didn't like this damn feeling or the way she was blushing right now.
"Pass!" She said louder, still looking ahead.
He tried to shake off the new and unwelcome feeling looking at her unhappily.
"That's another question! You can't pass twice." He quickly moved and stood in front of her blocking her path.
"Y-Yes, I can."
He frowned looking down at her with a frown.
But it was more than a frown, he actually looked pretty unhappy at her silence.
Hinata looked at his expression for a moment and sighed looking down and clasping her shaking hands together in front of her.
Was he frowning because she wouldn't answer his question?
Whatever the reason was, she did not like it.
He should be smiling.
She sighed. "N-No I don't have feelings." She quietly said walking around him.
She did see how his face lit back up as he walked beside her again and that was enough for her.
"Then who was it?" He asked.
She looked ahead again staying silent, because at least he was smiling again now. So, she didn't have to answer.
She passed, after all.
He huffed. "You're no fun, Hyuuga."
His question actually made her curious now so she returned the question.
"W-Who was yours?" She asked looking at him.
His shoulders tensed as he slightly shivered. "I am definitely not answering that."
His reaction made her even more curious, because he seemed awfully bothered that she asked.
She looked up at him with wide eyes. "Why not?"
He smirked looking at her wide curious eyes. "Because I pass."
It was her turn to frown. "You're no fun, Namikaze."
He chuckled at what she said before he stopped walking.
She did too and looked at him curiously. "Why are y-" She paused and gasped when he leaned to her height and moved his face really close to her, almost brushing their noses together.
"You're being a little bold today." He said looking deep into her eyes and watched her pink cheeks turned red.
"W-What are you d-doing?" She gasped looking at him with wide eyes.
He smirked bumping her nose with his before moving back. "There she is."
She slightly huffed with a now red face as he grabbed her hand and started walking again with his familiar laugh.
This guy.
They had walked for a few more minutes before they reached a restaurant right in the middle of the garden. And to say Hinata was pleased would be an understatement. She doesn't remember the last time she's been in an open-air restaurant.
"Come." Naruto had held onto her hand and guided them to the entrance.
At the entrance, the hostess politely greeted them with a warm smile.
"Reservation under Namikaze." Naruto said and Hinata discreetly moved her eyes to his profile, looking at him.
"Right this way, please." She took some card and led them.
She seems to be doing that quite a lot these days. She even found herself unconsciously looking at him in the couple of classes they had together, which was embarrassing enough, especially when she would find him already looking at her.
With those warm blue eyes.
Eyes that would make her heat up all over, making her fidget on her spot because of the intensity they held looking at her. Especially when they always brought back what happened in the library.
Not like she had stopped thinking about it. It was constantly on her mind.
Frightening her.
"Does your mother live with you guys?" Naruto asked once the waiter took their orders or left.
"Um… S-She passed away a few weeks after giving birth to Hanabi." She said gazing into his eyes. "She got sick."
His shoulders sagged slightly as if he'd instantly regretted asking that. "Oh. Sorry."
"It's okay." She smiled reassuringly. "What does your mother do?" She asked instead.
"She died giving birth to me." He said and it was her turn to be sorry for opening her mouth.
"I-I'm sorry."
"It's okay." He mimicked her with a teasing smile. "I'm grateful to have an amazing father." He grinned before changing the subject. "Speaking of father, why is yours like this?"
And by 'this', she knew he meant his protectiveness.
"H-He's just very protective." She explained with a small shrug. "He means well."
"I'm sure." He snorted. "He's going to need to loosen his hold a little."
She placed her joined on the table in front of her. "Well it has never been a problem for me."
He scoffed. "That's because you've never had a boyfriend."
Her face slightly heated up again. "W-Who said that?"
"You're easy to read." He said confidently as his eyes roamed her face.
She gaped at him. "Well y-you're wrong."
He raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh?"
"Yes!"
He leaned in placing his arms on the table looking at her intently, not letting her look away. "Who was it?"
"Y-You don't know him. He l-lives in Kumo." She answered not being able to look away, though she would have gladly hidden under the table at the moment.
He looked at her skeptically. "Really?"
"Yes." She affirmed biting on her lip nervously.
"And why did you break up?" He then asked as his eyes briefly shifted to her lips.
"I'm n-not telling." She whispered looking down out of the restaurant at the small frog jumping from one rock to the other in the water.
Again, she found herself thankful that they were seated on one end beside the small river and not in the middle of establishment.
"Was he your first kiss?" Naruto's question made her head snap back to him.
"No!"
He tilted his head to the side with a glint in his eyes. "Wow, Hinata. So, you can just kiss random guys. That's very surprising, Hinata."
Her face beat red at his insinuation. "I-It's not like t-that."
"You're going to have to share your experience with me, since you are sooo experienced." He winked at her.
"I-It's not true." She denied but he continued.
"Maybe you can even teach me some new stuff. I'm always open for new exp-"
"N-No! I haven't even kissed anyone." She quickly said hoping to stop him.
He smirked looking extremely proud of himself. "Gotcha." He said making her slightly frown at him.
He laughed looking at her now unhappy face. She crossed her arms on the table looking at his amused face with a small frown.
"You're so easy to mess with." He chuckled moving a hand to slowly run it over her arms, making shivers run down her spine though she didn't pull away.
She couldn't.
Didn't want to.
She huffed shaking her head but still let a small smile appear on her face at his laugh.
"So, you were together with that guy but never kissed." He said with a nod still touching her arm. "I mean, good for me."
She sighed. "A-Actually our family wanted us t-to be together, so we tried, b-but-"
"You rejected his ass." He nodded running a hand higher up her arm making Hinata gulped. He laughed leaning in closer. "I'm right, aren't I? He wasn't even your boyfriend. So, I was right about that."
His smile was infectious. So, she couldn't help but return it despite trying not to focus on how good it felt to have his hand on her skin.
I'm losing my mind.
They left the restaurant after lunch and slowly walked their way back to where they came from. Hinata tried not to focus to much on the fact that he was once more holding her hand. She tried not to focus on how nicely her hand fit into his or how warm she felt all over.
She jumped as Naruto let out a displeased groan looking down at her.
"I can't take it anymore." He muttered. "We need to lose him."
Huh? Lose who?
"W-What?" She asked in confusion.
"Your father had someone following us from the moment we left your home." He told her and her eyes widened in reaction. "I tried not to pay attention to it, but it's driving me crazy."
"I-I'm sorry." She mumbled not looking already knowing who might be following them.
"You're sooo lucky I really like you." He chuckled slightly squeezing her hand. "It's that stuck-up driver of yours."
"Ko." She said already guessing it might have been him.
"Yeah, him." Naruto nodded before grabbing her phone from her to shove it in his jeans pocket. "Run." Naruto suddenly said before taking off, holding onto her hand tightly.
She squealed as she was pulled into following his pace. But she did run and tried her best not to look back to check for Ko, just in case she tripped over something.
"You are so slow!" She heard Naruto laugh and she would have laughed too if she didn't feel like dying in fear.
Hinata dropped in exhaustion on the grass to catch her breath.
They managed to run fast enough to lose Ko and took a break hiding behind a tree.
Hinata felt like throwing her lungs out while Naruto was just leaning against the tree laughing at her struggle.
"Shit." Naruto started laughing as he leaned back against the tree watching her struggle to breath. "You would be so screwed if this was the zombie apocalypse."
Hinata was exhausted and out of breath but that didn't stop her from falling into a fit of giggles with him.
She was laughing not only because his laugh was contagious, but also because this was the first time she had ran from Ko or any other person her father assigned to look after her. She would have never dared to try to escape them.
And she just did. And just that made her laugh in surprise at her own behavior.
He watched with a fond smile as she finally stood to her feet. "You have never done that, have you?"
"No." She giggled with a shake of her head.
"I'm having a bad influence on you, aren't I?" He asked reaching for her arm to pull her closer to him. "Your father might murder me before I even have the chance to kiss you." He mumbled placing her hair behind her ear before slowly running his fingers down her neck before looking at her at her flustered face with a glint in his eyes. "And it would be your fault."
She shook her head in denial not trusting herself to open her mouth.
"You're gonna get me killed, after giving a hard-on in the school's library."
She gasped slamming a hand over his mouth looking at him with a positively scandalized expression before she looked around in case anyone heard. He chuckled behind her hand before saying something that was muffled by her.
She furrowed her eyebrows as she quickly lowered her hand to hear what he was saying.
"I said the best way to shut me up would be to kiss me." He said as if it was the most logical thing to say.
She gasped again and quickly walked away from him.
"You're crazy." She whispered but he heard her heard her causing a laugh to escape him.
"You've said that already." He grinned and matched her pace to walk beside her.
"What is this place?" Hinata asked looking at the very large glass entrance in front of them.
Naruto looked at her as if she had struck him.
"What? You've never been to a game center before?" He asked.
She shook her head in response. "N-No."
"Hinata, what have you been doing your whole life?"
She smiled shaking her head. "I've been to amusement parks and plenty of other places, you know. My father just never had the best opinion about game centers."
He sighed tightening his hold on her hand and pulling her toward the entrance.
"I'm going to teach you how to live." He announced.
And indeed, did she have fun there. She doesn't remember the last time she had laughed so hard. From Naruto's rash behavior to the different kind of games he pulled her too. She felt like a little child all over again.
After almost two hours there, they left and it was only when they went out that Hinata realized that the sun was already going down, which highly disappointed her.
"Damn, I wanted to take you to the Cinnamon bun place before taking you home." Naruto groaned throwing his head back before looking at her with one raised eyebrow. "There's no way I can convince you to go past the curfew your father gave us, right?"
"I-If we do, he won't allow us to hang out again." She sighed briefly looking at the group.
"Aww. You're disappointed." He smirked wrapping an arm around her shoulders making her jump as he pulled her closer to him. "Don't worry. I have every intention of taking you out again."
"N-Naruto." She hissed with a deep blush as she tried to move away while glancing around.
"What?"
"L-let go." She whispered going a shade deeper. "W-We're in public."
His smirk widened. "You're saying you'd rather be like this in private?"
"N-No! T-That's not what I-" She stopped herself as she looked at his content expression and managed to get out of his grip puffing her cheeks at his teasing face.
"I'll take you to the cinnamon bun place next time." He smiled grabbing onto her hand again. "Let me take you home and show your father how responsible I can be."
"T-Thank you for today Naruto." She said as soon as she got out of the car to face him once they've reached her home.
"You see how fun I am?" He asked moving forward making her take a step back to move away from the car.
She grinned and nodded agreeing with him with pink cheeks. A squeal escaped her mouth as Naruto leaned grabbed her waist pulling her close enough for their bodies to touch, as he leaned his back against his car.
"Isn't this the moment you let me kiss you?" He teased.
As expected, she violently shook her head with a deeper blush while looking back at her home behind her, causing him to.
Well he did expect such response. Especially because he was sure that her father might be watching them from somewhere inside the house.
I would have to wait. He thought as he squeezed her waist making her jump briefly glancing at the manor.
No matter how hard it would be for, because Kami, had he tried his best to act like a gentleman after what happened in the library. He couldn't risk scaring her away. Not matter how much he wanted to touch more of her, kiss her.
Devour her.
Enjoy her in ways that would break the prim proper posh image, make her loose her mind and break her composure. He wanted to know every single façade of her.
He craved it. And he wanted her to crave him. He wanted to be in her mind and heart. He wanted to know and have her in ways so one else ever had.
What the fuck did she do to me?
What the hell am I thinking?
He didn't know and fuck it he didn't care. He was going to explore these new feelings, just like he will explore her.
He looked down at her nervous, flustered face and all he wanted was to take her lips, kiss her until all she could think about was him.
He had to be patient. Something he has never been before. But he would be for her. He would be the most patient just for her.
Because damn it, she was worth it.
Not kissing her tonight, however, didn't mean that he couldn't tease her.
It was, after all, his favorite thing to do these days.
As just as he thought, soon enough, Hiashi opened the front doors and directly looked at them. Hinata slightly jumped and slightly moved away from him making his hands drop to his sides.
Hiashi's cold grey eyes peered at his daughter's red face then at the young man. The blond was grinning as if Hiashi hadn't just seen his hands on his eldest daughter.
Naruto straightened up with a small bow.
"Good evening, Sir." Naruto shamelessly grinned looking at the man's impenetrable face.
"Good evening." Hiashi greeted back. "Did the two of you have fun?" He asked looking directly at his daughter.
She nodded. "Yes, father."
At her response, he turned toward Naruto with a small nod.
"I'm sure your father will be expecting you home, young man."
"Yes." Naruto nodded looking at Hinata. "I'll call you."
She nodded with a slight blush and another muttered 'thank you' before quickly turning to go to her awaiting father.
Hiashi didn't even wait as he closed the front door as soon as she walked through it.
"I have a meeting right now." Her father said looking down at her. "We'll talk tomorrow."
"Yes, Father." She nodded before he turned walking toward the direction of his home office.
She let out a content sigh and a smile stretched on her lips as she slowly made her way toward the stairs.
She didn't know what exactly her father wanted her to say but all she knows is that she had a lot of fun. This was so different from what she was used to. She doesn't know anyone who would have just taken her to game center instead of the opera or to a botanic garden restaurant instead of a five-star closed one.
And by that, she meant Toneri. He had the same taste as her father and by hanging out with him, she surprisingly found herself not liking their preferences as much as she should have.
At least not as much as she had enjoyed her day with Naruto.
As soon as she got up the stairs, her phone started ringing. She pulled her phone out of her purse and looked in surprise as Naruto's name showed on her screen.
"Naruto?" She answered in surprise. "Is everything okay?"
"I said I would call you, didn't I?" He said on the other line.
He did, but she didn't think he meant now.
"But you just left." She said. "A-And you shouldn't be on the phone while driving." She softly chastised him.
"Yeah, yeah." He chuckled. "So, when is our next date?"
She bit on her lower and smiled as she made her way down the hallway.
"I-I don't know." She practically whispered.
"How about next Friday after school? We could go to th-"
As she continued listening to him, Hinata couldn't stop the thumbing f her heart against her chest. It was so loud in her ears, she was afraid that he might hear it.
It was new and scary.
But she would welcome it.
Let me know what think. Hope you enjoy it!
