Part 1 – Stardrifter

I never told anyone how I was born, the Jedi who found me, Master Lena Kostana said I was found adfrift in the stars after a starship exploded in orbit of Rishi. Master Lena was drawn there. But she told me she told none of how I was found. I only told Undryl that story. It was some time later when Sifo-Dyas gave me a book, he never told me if he had read it or not, I was seven at the time, he was a Pawadan to the same Master who saved my life, at the time he was ten years my senior. I had read it only once before the Initate Trials, and the knowledge within it facinated me, and in many cases, scared me. And yet I trust the Will of the Force, if I am to read this book, then who am I to question the Force's plans ?

Stars drifted lazily around her as she watched the last of the couslar class cruiser fade into spoace dust. Everyone aboard was dead and gone. It was just her, her and the sapce dust, her and a the stars drifting around her in silence.

But she wasnt alone. She looked around and saw the infant only a kilomter away from her and watched as a starship dropped out of hyperspace. She recognised it as a Jedi peacekeeper vessel that traveled planet to planet and in most case on offical business.

What was it doing so far out there ? In the Taipani sector of all places. The woman watched as the ship gently neared the tiny infant, drifting in space as the side hatched slowly opened and a Droid waited. She remembered that droid, mostly in fear of what was happening at the time.

The hatch closed and suddenly she was in the hallway of the ship watching the events unfold before her. The droid destroyed, in many pieces out of absolute fear of the machine. But a wom,an nowe held the infant with a pair of young boys no older then ten watching her.

"What is it Master Kostana ?" One of the boys, whom she recognised as possibly a child version of Dooku.

"An infant, strong in the force, and miraculously alive." Lena Kostanna replied to the question. "Dooku, Sifo, see to it the nursery is prepared I will speak to the captain." Lena then left, carrying the infant girl with her while the two boys ran to the nursry to ensure it was set up and ready for the infant to spend her new life with them.

Bodgey sat bolt upright as the door to the nursery in her dream closed. It wasnt the first time she had that dream. Ever since Sifo-Dyas had left on that mission by the council to quell an uprising on Felucia she had the dream. Syfo had confided in her on many levels as she grew up, they were close friends, and he was going to take her on as his Padawan when he became a Knight, but he ended up taking up another girl when Bodgey was nearly sent to the Medi-Corps had Yoda not insisted on taking her on as his Padawan himself.

And rthen Sifo Dyas had died, and she had at that point had be3en on the Jedi Council, just like he was, but when Sifo-Dyas had died, Bodgey stepped down.

Now why was she having that dream ? It didnt matter, the question could be answered later. Bodgey got up, refreshed and ready for the day and stepped from her room. The hallway she stood within had a glass wall that looked down over the assembly line of the CR90 corvettes made by CEC. Undryl, her dear friend after the Corellian girl at the time only a half year older than Bodgey had saved her life at the plaza of Blastfield Shipyards when they were both eleven and the Jedi were briefly targeted for arriving on the planet. Had it not been for Undryl, Yoda would have been harmed as well.

Looking back on that memory, Bodgey had just become Yodas Padawan Learner, and that in and of itself was an experience.

"Why are we here Master ?" Bodgey had asked, barely master Yodas padawan for a week and they go to Corellia of all planets. She had never been t oa planet that had greenery and otherwise on it. She was used to Coruscant, the city planet, and the Room of a Thousand Fountains.

"Trouble I sense, on Coruscant should we remain there" Yoda replied. That didnt make any sense to the newly minted Padawan at all. Why leave Coruscant, the center of the Galaxy, if trouble was to be had ? "Better type of trouble, here on Corellia we will find, hmm" Yoda then concluded. That made a little bit of sense, but not in the way that Bodgey was expecting. "Find what you seek, here you will." Yoda then said

"Find what I seek ?" Bodgey asked, then she remembered, her lightsaber, she had only found a fiew bits and pieces of parts she felt worth using through the force to use. But she was missing the crystal, could she find it here ? Well, she could if Yoda did indeed believe she could find it there. "I hope so"

"Come, much to do this week, we have for your learning." Yoda said the two started off and as if bny second nature, Yoda piggybacked on Bodgey's back as they went in search of CEC's head honcho, Tobias Stathe. Meeting him and his wife on a plaza near the Axial Park zoo.

Yoda allowed for Bodgey to wander off and explore the Zoo where she met Undryl, the young brown haired gray eyed girl was facinated with a Nexu kept safely behind a holowall.

Undryl spoke first, "oh hello, are you lost ?" Undryl showed no signs of being phased that Bodgey had no eyes, Miralukans were the eyeless race and her father had a Miralukan for a secretary much to her mothers disappointment on certain days.

"No, I'm actually trying to find something, I was following my senses, I guess I found you instead." Bodgey replied, sahe then extended a hand in greeting, Undryl Took it as Bodgey introduced herself "I'm Bodgareena Stardrifter, I'm Master Yodas pwadawan. You can call me Bodgey"

"Undryl Stathe, its great to meet you, I've always wanted to meet a Jedi, I read stories on the Holonet of Jedi helping others, Mnother always said there used to be a Jedi Academy here on Corellia, but I havent found it yet." Undryl said giving Bodgey's hand a firm shake.

Bodgey smiled, "Master Yoda said something of finding the old Academy on our flight here from Coruscant. I thought he was joking."

"He's a famous Jedi Master, why would he joke ?" Undryl asked, of course they were children, Undryl never knew that Jedi did have a sense of humor on the third months third day. It made sense to Bodgey. But what happened next was anyones guess.

Neither girl noticed a man standing near a control panel and typing in some codes, he worked as part of a gang ring. Black Sun had a hit out on the Jedi and anyone they interacted with, their target was Bodgey, and in turn, Undryl.

The holowall faded and Undryl didnt notice, but Bodgey did. "What just happened ?"

"What ? Is it time to clean the Nexu cage ?" Undryl asked turning as Bodgey did to see the holo wall gone and the Nexu about to pounce them. "Oh no. Run!" But they couldnt run. The nexu was too fast, and it was all Bodgey could do to keep them out of its nasty reach. But it was Undryl who had the idea that Nexu actually hated ion water. "This way!" Undryl hopped the fence of a nearby open holowall, the Aklay enclosure was empty at the time for repairs and it had an Ion water trench they could hide behind.

Only it nearly became their undoing as the Nexu passed out in the ion pool. Quietly the two girls got around it and managed to get back, safely, to the Jedi Master and Undryls parents. "Find trouble you did, survived well you did. Unharmed are you ?" both girls werent harmed. Thankfully so, and the wizened Jedi and his Padawan were invited to stay the week at their home.

Later that day it was revealed that the Nexu was let out by careless error on behalf of the keeper, Undryl insisted that the Keeper keep his job and not get fired, and if he was fired, if her father could hirehim to keep their own Nexu kittens. Undryls Nexu kittens were always donated to the Axial Park Zoo every few years. Howewver one of them, Tapia, a Nexu girl, was too enamoured with Undryl and always treated her like family.

The present

Bodgey's mind was jolted from the memory when her comlink went off. "Busy are you ?" Came the question from Yoda

"Not really Master, what does the council request ?" Bodgey asked.

"Inform you the Council wishes, of Sifo-Dyas's last mission, speak to you before he left he wanted, but unable to do so he was. In his stead, speaking to you I am." Came Yodas reply. It made Bodgey smile.

"Am I needed at the Temple ?" Bodgey asked

"For the moment, yes, sending you a ship I am. Unless take your own vessel you wish to" Yoda replied

"No, its alright, when shall I expect the ship to arrive ?" Bodgey stood at the rail overlooking the halway construction section of the CR90 poroduction line. What started as a nut, a bolt, and a rod of steel soon held a hallway and walls to be built around with rooms and then a superstructure of a ship.

"Within the day the ship arrives. Expect you promptly we do" Yoda said before signing off. Bodgey nodded mostly to herself. She'd have to tell Undryl of her new mission for sure.

But since moving to Corellia, she had seen Undryl a lot more recently, both women had become fast friends, and they both saved each others lives, oweing each other nothing in terms of favors, just plain friendship.

And recently, Undryl's father had an issue, and each family member was a deciding vote for CEC, to remain in the civilian market only, or to take a military contract. But the military contract in question was a weird one.

Bodegey found Undryl in her office. Undryl stood at the window overlooking the assembly line. "What I wouldnt give to be down there again among the assembly arms, exploring for issues in each new panel and hallway built for each ship." Undryl mumbled.

"You could do it again" Bodgey replied as the door silently closed behind her. "Just say you ewanted to inspect things carefully before a panel is bolted down ?"

"I could" Undryl sighed turning to her friend, the woman wore a goregous designed gown that was tight to the body in various shades of pink, it was tight to the body yet allowed freedom of movement, at her hips it flaired out slightly and then was a loose skirt with many slits around her legs. Undryl was a tall woman. "The vote is in three days, Father wont allow me out of this office execept iot eat, see you, or sleep" Undryl then complained. She was the key vote ,the deciding vote of all the votes so far counted.

"Have you decided ?" Bodgey asked

"I did, I feel that CEC should remain in the civilan market. Why the Chancellor is pushing this vote I will never know. Are you heading off on a mission ?" Undryl said, then seeing how Bodgey was dressed

"I am, Master Yoda contacted me, I am needed at the Jedi Temple immediately. He never said why." Bodgey replied

Undryl smiled, "Give him my regards if you are able." She said to her friend, "When shall I expect you back ?"

"In time for the vote, I hope. If anything changes I will contact you by holo" Bodgey said. Tapia purred nearby on her nest that Undryl had built in the office. The closest thing to home really.

"See you then" Undryl said, basically saying goodbye in her own way. With Bodgey gone from Corellia, that left her a prime target, recent vote casters had been bribed, or scared into voting to keep CEC entirely civilian market only. But Undryl had always felt that CEC should stay civilian market entirely. Why the chancellor wanted a vote on such matters didnt make sense. But Undryl had a plan for it and she hoped it could make sense. For the moment at least.

Bodgey headed off to the spaceport, her ship was going to be arriving soon and she knew it. Yoda had sent for her, and he mentioned it was partly because of Sifo-Dyas last mission. A mission that he never managed to begin because of his untimely death. It was time, she thought, to stop drifting.

She had been called upon by the council, and as such that meant she had to be there when asked unless otherwise disposed. Bodgey stood within the spaceport getting her information a few moments after speaking to Undryl about her leaving. Another woman stood nearby. Undryls driver. Shinnah Twang of one of the most reputable police squads in the galaxy. Havoc Squad of old and in stories was a heroic group of people, rebuilt after coming apart by a new recruit to the squad as a whole.

"Keep Undryl Safe while I am gone, agreed ?" Bodgey had picked out Major Twang herself, mostly when the other vote casters were getting scared into voting a certain way and to be protected to begin with when Bodgey was away on Jedi duty.

"As always" Maj Twang replied, the soldier was someone who could be terusted and keep Undryl safe. Lately though Maj Twang had been busy with training and other missions in secret, some of which tasked by the Jedi Order directly, but some also tasked directly by Undryls own mother.

"I do not plan on being long, keep Undryl safe at all costs. Within reason" Bodgey said, Shianniah smirked and nodded. She could do that. "Any questions ?"

"If I get called away on a task, what happens then ?" Maj Twang asked. Bodgey stood there a moment in thought, having no answer.

Finally she said "Let us just hope you do not get caleld on a task until after I return in time for the vote."

"What if you're longer than three days ?" Maj Twang asked out of the blue as Bodsgey was about to step up the ramp to the waiting ship. It caused her to stop in her tracks.

A foot on the loading ramp, "I am trying to not think about that" Bodgey said, turning her sightly gaze at the soldier, she said simply. "Please, for my sanity, keep my friend as safe as you can." With that Bodgey boarded the ship and it took off.

Keep Undryl safe enough until the vote, then Undryl could be on her own. Then again Undryl had been locked in the office or her own bedroom, unable to even go outside of all places either because of the threats and the vote so close.

The vote was a important vote to keep Corellian Engineering Corporation in civlian sales and out of military contracts. Only half the voters voted in favor of the military contracts, backed by Rendili StarDrive and Kuat Drive Yards. Both were pushing for the same contract if CEC didnt want it.

And as far as Shiaanniah knew, Undryl didnt want a military contract, but she did want to expand on the military like weapons in the civilian ships. Which then pressured BoSS to allow such additions as standard equipment to defend against pirates and other unsavery types.

And so far it was working. Major Twang stepped into the Stathe mansion grounds, it was attached to the massive complex that built the CR90, a corvette both durable, customisiable and roomy. It had a family touch to each one built infact. Because as Undryl grew up she'd excplore the layouts for each new CR90, and if she found any imperfections in the design, be it sound damnpent, headspace, cracks in the panels, anything, that model would be taken off the assembly line and repaired whiel she went onto the next one. This went on until Undryl turned twenty six, now the poor woman was traped in her bedroom or her new office.

But Undryl had made it clear to her father, once the vote was over she'd meet up with her boyfriend. After that, she'd go back to personally inspecting each CR90 on the assembly line like she had grown up doing.

She just hoped the vote would go the way she wanted it to do. The threats, Major Twang knew, were starting to really get to her charge. Threats of bombings of her favorite places to visit, assisation attempts, even bribes were getting too close for comfort and it had Undryl sleeping in her office on some nights.
