A Isekai Star Wars Story
Part 1a – Stathe
I never knew her. Not really, I thought I had, but it wasnt until I read her klast holo journal that I realised I never knew my daughter at all. And it is too late now. Too late to tell her I misjudged her, too late to tell her. I am sorry
-Tobias Stathe Corellia 31 BBY
The papers were set on the desk. Ships were bought and sold daily, almost hourly, and the staff were well kept and ordered. Tobias had more time to spend on his own. And that allowed him the chance to relax and try to figure out the latest mess upon his desk.
The Surpreme Chancellor was pushing for a side assembly line of a military nature. And he was due to arrive in the next day. Undryl was under pressure from all sides, her vote was the deciding factor of this whole mess and he hoped she would keep CEC in the civilian market.
Kuat Drive Yards, Sinar and Rendili StarDrive were all three trying for the contract, and if CEC said no and chose to stay in the civilian market, then those three would get the contract, which suited Tobias just fine.
He was more worried for his daughters aake, but she never let the news get to her, the news reports of bribed votes, bought votes, intimidated votes, news reports of assissinated voters being replaced by corupt fake replacements. Undryl never let the news get to her. And it left them all a bit more then simply agitated now that the vote was only a pair of sunsets away.
Undryl had been kept both safe and rather calm by the mere precence of her friend, the Jedi Master, Bodgareena Stardrifter. Along with the soldier, Major Shianniah Twang. Undryl had chosen the woman as her driver and bodyguard at Bodgey's as Undryl called the jedi Master, recommendation.
And for the last few months, Undryl had been locked in her office, or in her room, and she had made it clear ot her father she didnt like it. She missed exoploring the assembly lines, finding the faults in each ship built down the line. Droids and machines were well and good, but knowing something by experiencing it to ensure it did its job with a natural sound instead of mechanical hearing system only made things all the more personal for the buyer in question.
Undryls methods were outlandish, but she had a point and it was one that Tobias would love for her to continue. And he had promised her that after the vote was cast she could go right to the assembly line and get back to what she enjoyed doing, exploring the in progress halways for issues in each new CR90.
CEC made Tobias richer than he had dreamed when his former boss and CEC stepped down amid a scandal that had him taking bribes from several other starship makers who all denied such bribes. Thankfully Master Stardrifter was a helpful person since she had been allowed to move in with the Stathe family after certain events plagued her on Coruscant.
Tobias hadnt said no at first, initially hisitant but his wife had said yes, so he too agreed with her assement on the matter. Allowing Undryl to be with her friend and her friend a place to live without worries of cost or otherwise put onto the family in any manner.
With the amount of credits that Undryl made just exploring each new halway and corridor in a assembly line station alone did much more than what a Jedi Master could make in a week just relying on their credit line.
So Tobias never gave it a second thought after Master Stardrifter moved into the Stathe Family Mansion. She never complained either that half the house was an assembly line. A soundproof glass wall on the back hallway looked out over the massive "backyard" As did all their officies. Tobias just hoped it would work in his daughters favor. He put too much pressure on her for this vote.
But he felt he didnt have to worry, at least when he saw the soldier, Major Twang waiting near Undryls office door. "Been here long ?" The older man asked.
"Only a few minutes, shes still inside if you wonder. Ever since Master Stardrifter left for Coruscant yesterday she hadnt let anyone inside." Sianniah replied with a brief shrug of the shoulder.
"She'll let me in" Tobias said as he put in his code to the door. It briefly didnt open before Undryl opened the door with a thump.
"Hi daddy" The twenty seven year old said in greeting to her father, then she saw Sianniah. "Major." the soldier simply nodded in greeting as Undryl grabbed her fathers hand "If you'll excuse us a moment" She said simply, Twang smirked, trust Undryl to want a quiet chat with her father.
"The vote is in two days" Tobias started, but Undryl cut him off.
"I want to go back to the assembly line, now" Undryl said simply to him. Almost too bluntly for her case really.
"I know" Tobias said in reply, he knew since she was put in that office she wanted to be on the assembly line like she always had been. 'And I promised you that as soon as your vote was cast along with your reason of why, you could go back to it. Wont even have to to talk to the holonet press either if you want to go straight from casting your vote to the assembly line, I wont stop you."
"You are sure you cant push the vote back ?" Undryl asked
"I am sure, this was as far as the board would allow me top push it. If I try to push it further they'll ignore your vote and go for the military contract anyhow." Tobias told her.
Undryl grumbled and crossed her arms over her chest. "Fine, as soon as I cast my vote and give my reason of why, I am going right down to the assembly line and exploring a new corridor"
Tobias smiled. "Undryl, dear one, what has you so worried ?"
"Bodgey left, she said that Yoda wanted her at Coruscant but wouldnt tell me why, she hopes to be back before the vote. But said shed tell me if she had not be here for it." Undryl explained
"When did she leave ?" Tobias asked her
"Yesterday morning. If we cant push the vote any further I wont feel safe without Bodgey there backing me up. Major Twang is good replacement but I feel better if Bogdgey was here, even if she had to be here via holonet relay." Undryl explained to her father why she was worried.
Tobias nodded thoughtfully. "I know how you wanted Master Stardrifter by your side or at your back to keep you safe, but Major Twang is here in case things go wrong as well. Best case scenario, you're safe, you vote, you get your voice out there, and its over. Worst case scenario someone starts shooting. But that is why Major Twang and the Chancellors Senate Guard are going to be there, to keep anyone from shooting." He gave her a careful look, "Can you at least hold upthat long ?"
"I can try, Daddy" Undryl replied, the woman hugged her father, the two then left the office and with Major Twang in tow headed for somewhere to eat. That night was going to be a lot of paperwork for Undryl and Tobias knew he was in for a world of complaining from both his wife and his daughter concerning it all.
