Part 1b – Palpatine

Corellia.

Plalpatine had only been there once in his lifetime when he was searching for an aid. He'd found a few but the only time he had been to Corellia was also quite brief, maybe less than a few minutes, he had never really set foot on the planet directly.

But now he was there. And it was as everyone had said, a shipyard planet, with artifical parks with real grass, unlike Coruscant, it made him feel as if he was at Kuat. But Corellia was also steeped in traddition, and he wanted to get off Corellia before anything else happened.

He had received word that Dooku had left the order, simply because of family issues and also loss of heart in the order itself, which Plapatine felt could be useful down the road. So he had asked Dooku to meet him on Corellia within the day, the critical component of the war machine was missing and Palpatine was hoping to get it the next morning when the votes were counted.

The key vote of course against the military contract was that of Undryl Stathe, daughter of Tobias Stathe, the current CEO of Corellian Engineering Corporation Palpatines plan was to have not just an army, but ships, supplies, armor, etchnologies for warfare really, built at several planets then taken t othe cloning planet.

The only piece of the puzzle left was to see if CEC would take the bait, if they didnt, it was no big loss for him. If they did, then it was a boon, but if CEC remained in the civilian market, only BoSS would worry about them in the long run. With Palpatine now the Surpreme Chancellor and had requested the military contract in secret, it was a mostly secret vote.

Dooku stepped into the spaceport and waited at the bottom of the ramp for a good minute before Palpatine stepped down it quietly. "Any news ?"

"Nothing, everything is quiet right now" Dooku replied. "But our informants and spies told me that only the daughter of Tobias Stathe is unphased by the methods used by the spies and sabatoures" Dooku informed Palpatine.

Only a few days from leaving the Order before meeting with Palpatine in secret, and finding out that the senate, and rthe Jedi were just too corrupt for their liking the two had an idea.

So when Sifo-Dyas had contacted him to help him in secret in finding a location outside the Order without their sanctioning, and without the sdenates help at the time, a cloning planet to make an army. Sifo-Dyas force visions were becoming more troublesome, and that meant getting rid of the man.

But that was ten years ago.

Sifo Dyas was dead. "Our spies also reported that there is a issue concerning your reelection, and if with this sepratist crisis could soon be ended. One spy reported that the senator from Naboo, Padme Amidala, was planning to go to Coruscant for the vote, I have not heard anything new."

Palpatine smirked, he had a plan for that. "Do as you must. Now best you not be seen here in public. We have only a scant few moments before the press arrives about my arrival here. I want this to be secret after all!" Palpatine said. The senate guards were quiet and did their jobs nicely by escorting Palpatine safely to a side entry away from prying eyes as Dooku, kmnown as Darth Tyranus took his leave.

It was a matter of a few hours before Palpatine formerally met with Tobias Stathe, but his daughter was nowhere to be found. It mattered little. Palpatine had a plan after plan in the case of something going wrong.

A few hours alone with Tobias to learn of the finer workings was all he really needed at that moment, but Palpatine could tell the man was worried. Seeing him alone in the ofice, Palpatine spoke as he entered the room. "Is something the matter ?"

"Yes" Tobias replied, "I worry for my daughter, ther was an attempt on her life this morning."

"What kind of attempt, I can have my guards aid in the investigation if you wish it" Palpatine was laying it on thick, and yet he knew how to play his cards close to his chest when the time called for it.

"Food poisoning, the servant droid analysed the food before serving it and reported it to the human staffer, next thing anyone knew the servant droid was dismantled and Undryl fired the staffer that destroyed th droid. Had her Nexu not caught wind of the staffers intentions, undryl would have been sick in bed and the vote ignored." Tobias replied

The two men conversed further. "Your daughter is nervous ?" Palpatine asked

"Of meeting you ? Anyone would be, that nervous excitement tends to get even the best of political people so I hear. Quite personally, I am glad of the stablity you brought to the galaxy so far. Though this whole sepratist issue nags at my wife a bit here and there." Tobias then assured Palpatine that the vote indeed would happen in the morning and offered him a pleasant room to stay in should he want it.

An hour later and Palpatine was in the lavish apartment allowed for him to use that night, he'd only be there one night, Dooku was waiting for him. "So, what have you learned ?"

"Undryl Stathe is Tobias' own daughter, she has the key vote, and isnt swayed by anything our people are throwing at her. The others fell easier than hoped but she is proving to be quite stubborn and recently figured out our spy this morning was trying to make her sick so the vote would pass." Dooku explained "I get the feeling sometimes she might be more of an issue then we had hoped."

"I agree, have the men been notified ?" Palpatine asked as he took a seat at the desk.

"Not yet, we're still scouting possible sites of meeting after the vote." Dooku said

"There is something about this woman, she apparently is in love, and has a Nexu for a pet." Palpatine mused. Undryl Stathe had proven to be more then a simple go away problem, she was an issue that persisted "Either direction the vote takes tomorrow, the military contract has already offically been awarded, this is just for show."

"So when she votes, we leave as if nothing happened ?" Dooku asked

"No" Palpatine replied, "We will act like we're leaving. Undryl has a pet Nexu, so where else on Corellia are such animals ?"

"The Axial Park Zoo ?" Dooku said

"Exactly" Palpatine replied

"Would she be meeting someone there ?" Dooku wondered

"Most likely, I will have a more solid plan in the morning, for now, you will be the one she is to meet up with, or at least meet up with her by chance. Ensure the media gets wind of it as well, it would be nice to have her face plastered on the news" Palpatine had begun thinking of how to dispose of Undryl, and feeding her to a Nexu was not the idea.

Having a Sith kill her however was a most viable option.

Dooku took his leave and began preparations as Palpataine went to sleep, wherein he ended up meditating on many things carefully on his own through the night. It would be a while before the man had his plan fully in motion. And time was ticking away. Beecause he was needed back on Coruscant. Before Amidala got there.

Palpatine had to think carefully on things at that point as he meditated. Undryl was currnetly the issue in his present path. While Senator Amidala was another issue, but she was going to vote in favor of keeping him as Cahancellor due to the onset of the possible war.

Hopefully his spies could delay Amidala enough for him to safely return home and Darth Tyranus to begin the next phase of the plan. The night passed while Palpatine meditated instead of slept. It wasnt long before he was roused from his sleep by a Senate guard knocking upon his door calling a simple word "Sir, breakfast has arrived, shall I keep it warm for you ?'

Chancellor Palpatine smiled, his plan was ready to begin.
