Part 3f – Investigation Begins

Someone wanted me dead, and just seeing the raw data from my own body proved to me that I had enemies, enemies who I want to undermine in my own way. But that is not the Jedi Way, and for now, I am not a jedi.

- Undryl Stathe, Corellia, 21 days before Battle of Geonosis

Upon entering the outer lobby, the soldier stationed there stood at attention at sight of the two Jedi arriving. "He just went inside" He motioned to the nearby door.

"Thank you" Undryl said simply as she and Nyxia went through the door and down a short flight of stairs. Undryl had to stop at seeing her own body laid on the table. It was something she was going to have to get used to. Two men were conversing nearby, one of them Undryl recognised and had to fight within herself not to run and hug the legs of.

Tobias was speaking with Baozi. "I called on you Master Vanvaris, to find out who killed my daughter, what killed my daughter, you need not worry of the whys, only the who and what." Tobias said, "My wife is already distraught over this matter, so the sooner you find what and who killed my daughter, the sooner we can have closure."

"I will do what I can" Baozi replied. "How long do I have ?"

"We've already announced the funeral on Corellian media and the Holonet. But we did not announce a date or time as yet." Tobias said, it made sense, Undryls mother was still trying to get over the fact her daughter was dead. Cut down by some unknown enemy. "So, I'll give you two weeks to find my daughters killer and bring some sense of justice for us"

"Revenge is not a Jedi trait" Baozi started to say, but at Tobias' expression he said. "But, understanding is, and I can understand that the love of a parent for their child is as strong as the Force. So I will do what I am able, and time is now pressing. I do not plan to be too long in this venture."

"See that you can find out what you are able. You have two weeks" Tobias said, giving a gentle glance to his daughters body before turning on his heel and disappearing through a door.

As soon as Undryl was sure Tobias was out of earshot she spoke up. "I see you just met my dad"

"Nice guy" Nyxia mused aloud as she looked at the door Tobias had disappeared through. "You think he might try to send people after us or be troublesome ?"

"No, Dad was always concerned for my safety sure, Honestly I knew it was because he and mom loved me" Undryl said with a brief shake of her head. It wasnt worth thinking that her father could cause them trouble. The one who might end up doing just that would be Undryl herself trying to get a one on one with her parents.

"Very much so," Baozi smiled thinly. "His concern for you is well merited and justified in every sense of the word." He turned to Undryls body on the table. Had Undrly not been slain she'd be just asleep. "Did you find what you sought ?"

"I did" Undryl held up the relic, "Took a bit to get to it however. But I managed to get it. I am still surprised that my safe recognised my... paw print when I typed the code"

"Most safe systems are DNA complaint, so the palm scanner recognised your hand regardless of what it looks like." Baozi said simply as he used the force to gently lift Undryls body to her side so he could properly inspect the injury that ultimately took her life.

"Huh" He said after a few moments of quiet. Undryl and Nyxia were going through Undryls last possessions she had carried when she was cut down. Finding she still had her credit chip and credit stick untampered with. No doubt the Republic Bank could have acncelled out the account already.

Turning towards him Nyxia asked "Is something wrong, Master ?"

"The cut has been cauterised. There is only two weapons in the galaxy that can do such a thing." He said

"A lightsaber, master Tang had been cut a few times I remember, but she never bled" Nyxia said as she went over to Baozi's side and also viewed the deep base of the neck to the base of the spine cut.

"Hmmm, and the other is a vibrosword or Force Pike" Baozi said turning briefly to Undryl trhe Tooka he said. "Undryl, a moment if you will"

"What ?" The Tooka asked confused at the look she was given.

"Is your clothing familiar to yourself ?" Baozi asked as he pointed out the damaged dress the dead body still wore

"It is, why ?" She asked in reply stepping over.

"Would you mind doing me a small favor, if you'd rather not show your front, I should like to see your back. If you reincarnated as by the will of the Force, some markings of what killed you must also be on your new body." Baozi said

Undryl thought a moment, then nodded. "Alright, you might be right" She turned around and within a few moments had loosened her top enough for it to slide down to her waist where if she wanted to she could tie it off. But since she was actually a female tooka cat, being in the fur didnt feel too bad either.

But what made even Nyxia gasp with startlement made her worried. "What ? Is something wrong ?" Undryl asked

"No, but this does confirm my suspscions, there is a line of blood red upon your back, the exact length of which goes from the base of your skull, to the base of your tail" Baozi said as he also saw the injury upon the dead body directly, "That means whatever killed you, the injury given to you also transferred over, but you cannot feel the pain from it, can you ?"

The Tooka woman shook her head. "No, I cant feel any pain, I even got my tail caught in a door on Tooge's ship. No pain whatsoever." It was hard to explain but she was somehow able to keep her body from falling apart in pain. She felt no pain. "Its not easy to explain but as I died I heard a voice, weird things were said. Next thing I know, I woke up like this on Rishi"

"I must admit" Nyxia was silent after her initial startled gasp at seeing the red line on her masters friends back. "Your fur coloration is rather quite beautiful." that compliment made Undryl the Tooka blush deeply.

"I dont know about fur colorations, but I can see clearly in full color too. Most people say Tooka are colorblind, but I'm not" Undryl pointed out simply. She did however, admit that Nyxia was right, her fur pattern was indeed quite beautiful.

"Do you feel naked without your top on ?" Baozi then asked, Undryl wasnt wearing a bra, and yet, in just her fur, she actually looked kind of like a child sized Wookiee.

"I gotta admit that yes. I do feel a little naked without my top on." Undryl said "But with it on, in here, I feel somewhat too warm." the space where Undryl had been gently laid for Baozi to inspect carefully was kept rather cold. Almost like a carbon freezing chamber.

"Feel free to remain clothed, it is, after all, your body" Baozi said simply. Turning to Undryls dead human body however he noticed the matching outfits. "I see now why the guard wanted you to change clothing." He said.

"Yeah, he said something about me being killed in this outfit. I think the way I got this outfit, somehow had to do with that voice I heard. I told Shenniah to keep her version of it, she looked good in it. The voice must of misheard what I meant and made me a copy too. At least the reborn me" Undryl explained. She hopped lightly onto a chair and plopped her fuzzy butt on it with a heavy sigh.

Being a Tooka was gonna take some getting used to.
