Hello, and my sincerest apologies for not updating this fic for more than a year. I know, I know…why update just now? Well…"writer's block" is the main culprit as I mysteriously lost interest, but after my country's anime channel re-aired Overdrive last month, and an 8th review posted his review (among one of the reviews being in Spanish, that is), this gave me a motivation to try and continue this fic.
So now I'm facing a prospect of whether to continue or not depending on this new chapter's reviews. I hope this would at least attract more readers and get the inspiration to write more. So here it is…the next chapter.
Now on to the story!
Ch. 3: Chōryoku
A few days later, the scene shifts to a park where another race is being announced, and like the recent race, the racing venue is still the same, this time it enticed more bikers to join the race as aside from the prize money, a special trophy and a live interview is also being offered, and thus at the registration booth, it was filled with bikers, lining up in a long queue just to put their names on he list of participants, and the scene zoomed where the Cherry Hills cycling club have arrived, and Koichi is surprised to see so many people have gathered and expects that the upcoming race would be more difficult than before though Yousuke is beamed with confidence that he would win the next race, which Koichi cautions his captain not to get overconfident.
"Alright! This time I'll win the race two in a row!"
"Captain...calm down..."
"What for? I can win this one..."
"Don't act so cocky..."
"Why not?"
"We don't know what await us...and it'll be more difficult than last time..."
"Don't act so soft..."
"But..."
Meanwhile, Takeshi Yamato and Mikoto Shinozaki glanced at the long queue, and both have a feeling that the next race will be more challenging that the last one, and Yamato told Mikoto that he should start working on his stamina if he wants to make a big win, reminding him that the last race he only won the KING OF THE MOUNTAIN award but ended up losing, and encouraged him to do his best as he felt that Mikoto may have a chance to win both the same award and bagging at least third place.
"Really, Yamato?"
"If you want to be recognized...you managed to bag a rookie award and people are starting to respect you..."
"..."
"What you need to do is build up your stamina..."
"Well..."
"You have what it takes to win...even if it's only a chance to bag third place..."
"Okay. I'll do it..."
"Good."
Mikoto nodded and told Yamato that he will train hard to make up for what happened at the last race, and Yamato nodded, seeing that Mikoto has what it takes to become a contender, and soon spectators began noticing the cycling club, recognizing Yousuke as the recent champion, and Mikoto whom he made headlines as the new KING OF THE MOUNTAIN award winner, and they began whispering among themselves about this, airing praises and felt that the cycling club might make two in a row in the upcoming race.
"Aren't those...?"
"Those high school kids..."
"Yeah...them...the big guy won the race..."
"And the kid who won the Mountain King award..."
"Looks like they're going to get another crack..."
"You think they'll win?"
"I'm betting on those kids..."
"Me too..."
Yuki Fukusawa and Kaho Asahi were surprised that their presence has attracted attention, and they wondered if this is good for the club or not, and soon Asahi realized that she is among the sponsors and told Yuki that she has to meet up with the event organizers which Yuki nodded, and Asahi said she will be back in a while and told her to look after the club for now.
"Ah...I'd better go..."
"Where?"
"I'm one of this event's sponsors...I have to meet with the event organizers..."
"How long?"
"Don't know...but I'll be back..."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Okay."
As Asahi left, Yuku waited at the car where Koichi's dad is there and soon Giru approached her and began flirting with her much to her annoyance as she tries to ignore him but Giru began making moves that are evocative of sexual harassment, which slightly escalated as Giru persisted to make her notice him which she started to rebut in a near angry tone though Giru is not threatened and continued to flirt her in an annoying manner.
"Come on, Yuki-baby...let's hang out like old times..."
"In your face! Now get lost! you dumped before, remember?"
"And I regretted it..."
"Too late!"
"How about we make out in the crowd..."
"Get lost! You're insulting me!"
"How about we put our crotches together..."
"HENTAI!"
This soon caused a slight commotion and Mikoto was the first to notice it and went to Yuki's side, asking her what is wrong and saw Giru making harassing moves on her and confronted him, sparking tension which other people started to take notice as Mikoto demanded to Giru what is he doing to Yuki which Giru cruelly said he is just greeting his OLD FLAME, claiming that he and Yuki had a ONE NIGHT STAND, which is obviously a lie, and Yuki took offense to this and tries to slap him but he held her hand and held her in place.
"Why deny when WE DID IT before...?"
"WE DID NOT! NOW LET GO OF ME!"
"Oh yes, we did...I can even tell you the sex positions we had..."
"You hentai!"
"No, I'm not...i'm a romantic type..."
"LET GO OF ME NOW!"
"How about I touch your bum...?"
"I SAID LET GO!"
Mikoto went to Yuki's defense but Giru stepped aside and tripped him, which Mikoto fell down and Giru began to waltz with her and said soon he will take her virginity which further agitated her and tries to resist, but he trapped her in a hug and is making a subtlely sexual gesture until Koichi's dad stepped in and grabbed Giru's shoulder and gave him a stern warning, telling him to let her go, and Giru smirked as he released Yuki and she went to Mr. Terao's side as Yamato helps Mikoto to his feet and by then Yousuke and Koichi came back after seeing the commotion and there the club captain confronted Giru, which caused another bit of tension as the spectators looked on.
"You..."
"Yes...?"
"What did you do to my sister?"
"I beg your pardon...?"
"Don't fool me...I saw what you did..."
"Can you prove it, hotshot?"
"You better not..."
"Loser."
Giru did not showed any signs of intimidation and nearly provoked Yousuke when he said Yuki will be his and he will start calling him "brother in-law", but Koichi restrained Yousuke as Giru smirked deviously while Yamato urged Mikoto to calm himself, and by then Yousuke's former manager arrived and bragged to his former protege that Giru is their SECRET WEAPON and he will be the next cycling champion, and told Yousuke that he will lose in he upcoming new race, and Yousuke glared at the "bald octopus" and said that he will win the race and make Giru pay for making a pass at his younger sister.
"You'd better beg for forgiveness, Fukusawa..."
"In your dreams, you bald octopus..."
"You'll regret it..."
"I already have..."
"Prepare to be humiliated..."
"Tell your boy to stay away from my sister..."
"You tell her to stop seducing my protege..."
"You're dead."
After that, Yousuke's ex-manager and Giru leaves them as he already registered his team, and Koichi urged the rest to let it go as no one is harmed and he saw Mikoto glaring at Giru and tries to calm him down while Koichi's dad tries to calm Yuki as well as she too is glaring at the departing Giru, frustrated that of all tbe places she had to encounter him again and she couldn't believe he had the gall of making a sexual harassment in public and treated her like a sex object, and she is now hoping that her club will win the new race and teach Giru a lesson he would never forget, and by then Koichi urged his club mates to head for the queue line to have their names registered so they can participate.
