Ch. 10: Yōgi-sha o tsukamaeru

A few days later, the scene shows that the cycling club are having a meeting at the new club room, and there Yousuke is lecturing the members on what to do in the coming days as the next race was moved to two weeks from now, and that Mr. Terao managed to repair the bikes so now they can commence the practice while he instructs Koichi to teach Kaho the basics, and Kaho is fine with it though there was a hint of disappointment as she is hoping that Mikoto would teach her, but then Yuki noticed that the club is being watched, and sneaked her way towards the door and opened it, where two upperclassmen delinquents were eavesdropping, and Yuki demanded to the men on what they are doing here.

"Okay, you two…"

"…"

"Care to explain…?"

"…"

"What the heck are you doing…?"

"…"

The second year students laughed nervously before running off, and Yuki watched them leave as she had a feeling that the men were up to no good, and she wondered if they are the ones who burned down the old club room, but since she has no proof, she'll have to leave it like this, and rejoined the others in the meeting, but then noticed that Yamato is not in the club room and she wondered where he went, and she approached Mikoto and asks him if he has seen Yamato.

"Hey, Shinozaki…"

"Huh?"

"Where's Yamato?"

"Oh, haven't seen him."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Whatever."

"…qq"

Mikoto told her that he hasn't seen him, and told her he has no idea where Yamato went, and Yuki sighed as she wondered if Yamato let success and arrogance get to his head that would cause him to skip club activities, but then Yousuke told the two teens that the meeting is about to resume, and both Mikoto and Yuki went to their seats as the meeting resumes, and Kaho is a bit bewildered at the events that happened though she felt a bit of jealousy seeing that Mikoto and Yuki are close together.

At a corner of a vacant lot within the school, a group of students who are delinquents, are assembled, and there the two boys who were spying at the bicycle club earlier, were telling the others about what they heard, and the delinquents were rather displeased to hear that Yousuke and his club were not discouraged and that the bicycle club managed to find a new club room, and there they proposed that they would burn down the new club tonight and wreck the bicycles as well which they all came to an agreement.

"Sounds good…"

"I like it."

"Good idea."

"Yeah."

"Let's do it."

"I agree."

"When do we start?"

"Leave it to me."

As the delinquents are cheering at the plan they are making, they did not notice that Yamato, Yukiko and Maki are spying on them, in which the two girls did this by accident after seeing Yamato spying, and the trio were incensed to find out that the delinquents of this school were the ones who burned down the old bicycle clubroom and wrecked the bikes, and now they just discovered that the delinquents are planning to commit arson again, and the trio students are not going to let that happen again.

"No way…"

"Those creeps…"

"…"

"We got to do something…"

"And save our clubs."

"We'll make a plan."

"Really?"

"For sure?"

Yamato told Yukiko and Maki to tell Yousuke about what they discovered, and the two girls nodded as they sneaked their way out as Yamato continued to spy on the delinquents, and he is making sure that he is not seen as he intend to find out who is the mastermind behind this and is determined to make them pay for the transgression they committed against the bicycle club, and in order to do this he would have to skip classes for today.

Later, about 10 pm, the delinquent students are inside the main school building, and they had just managed to pick the lock of the new bicycle club room, and as they entered it, they surveyed the club room and they are ready to douse the room with gasoline as they intend to burn the room down to ashes and they are hoping that Yousuke would be humiliated again and they intend to see it that way so that their benefactor would give them an extra incentive.

"Heh-heh-heh…"

As the delinquents are about to douse the room with gasoline, the lights suddenly went on, and the delinquents, who are wearing ski masks, are taken by surprise as Yousuke, Koichi and Yamato were there, and they are not pleased at what they just saw, and there Yousuke made it clear that he will see to it that the delinquents will pay for what they are about to do and for burning down the old club room, and Yamato is in total agreement with Yousuke.

"You bastards…"

"Like I said, captain…"

"Good work, Kurosuke."

"Now we got them."

"Think they would talk?"

"Let's find out."

"…"

The delinquents were shaken with apprehension as they did not expect that they would be caught so easily and douse the doorway and floor with gasoline and threw a match at the ground, setting it on fire, keeping the three boys at bay as the delinquents went through the window and ran on foot, where they saw several policemen are waiting, all guns are aimed at them and the police captain ordered the delinquents to surrender, and Yousuke, Koichi and Yamato arrived, and saw that the delinquents are surrounded, and there the three boys are gearing up as they are hoping that they would find out who the mastermind is.

"Yes!"

" They're surrounded!"

"They can't escape."

"Now the moment of Truth…"

"And find out who is behind this."

"For our club."

"Right."

"Yeah."

The cops aimed their guns at the masked delinquents and ordered them to surrender and not resist, making it clear that they are willing to shoot if the delinquents insists on resisting arrest and assured to them that their rights would be respected.

"Surrender!"

"You're under arrest!"

"You can't escape!"

"Stand down! Now!"

"Or we'll shoot!"

"Raise your hands!"

"We mean it!"

"Do it!"

However, one of the delinquents noticed something on his cohorts, as they are wearing chokers, which were GIFTS from their benefactors after they successfully burned down the old club room, and the delinquents asked each other if they all received the chokers at the same time, wondering if this is a coincidence.

"Yeah. I got one."

"Me too."

"Was a gift."

"You also got one?"

"Seriously?"

"For real?"

"…"

Soon the delinquents heard ticking sounds coming from the chokers. They slowly deduced and realized that there are bombs laced on the chokers, and told the leader of the delinquents about it and the delinquents realized that they had been had and that their benefactors intended to get rid of them should they get caught by the police.

"No way!"

"He wouldn't…!"

"He's gonna kill us!"

"No!"

"I don't want to die!"

"Take the chokers off!"

"Hurry!"

"Do it!"

Before the delinquents had the chance to remove the chokers, the chokers exploded which caused the delinquents to sprawl on the ground, their necks blown away almost to the point of being decapitated, which the squad leader told his subordinate to call for an ambulance, hoping to save one of the delinquents as their statements are crucial.

"Quick! Call ambulances! We got to save them!"

"Yes sir!"

However, one of the cops checked on the fallen delinquents and concluded that they cannot be saved, as the injuries are fatal, thus the police, and the three cycling club members, were surprised to see and hear this and realized that someone intends to keep things a secret, and Koichi is angered seeing that the mastermind had treated the delinquents like disposables, and told Yamato and Yousuke that someone is intending to keep the club from joining the upcoming race, and Yousuke is determined not to be intimidated by this incident.

"That won't make us chicken out. Koichi…Kurosuke…we'll win the upcoming race."

"Yes, captain."

"Tell Chibisuke that he's in the race as well."

"Yes, captain."

"We're going forward and win the race."

"Yes, captain."

Nevertheless, the cycling club, school officials of Cherry Hills High, and the police are now facing a blank wall on who hired the delinquents in committing arson, and who is behind this, and not far, Izawa is watching the scene from behind a corner, and then took his leave undetected, as the scene attracted a lot of prying eyes from other students and police cordoned the area to keep the students back.
