(A/N) Mito's being a plot device today, sorry. Seriously tho, really, is put 'soulmate' and 'OTP' in a story all I needed to do to actually get you lot excited about a Tenten story? Seriously, ridiculous.
Tenten had been fighting Mito of all people. Mito Uzumaki! She was their best seals master, she did get to say that with absolute certainty, but it was Mito Uzumaki! Tenten was nowhere near her level! Sure, Tenten had read a lot of Uzumaki sealing scrolls, but she wasn't Uzushio born, she hadn't been raised on seals like how most other people were raised on reading and pointy things! This was Mito Uzumaki, a renown seals master at least three times her age!
Okay, maybe she was panicking just a bit. Oh who was she kidding, she was freaking out big time!
Alright, calm, she was fighting Mito Uzumaki, and trying not to die and distract her long enough for everyone else to escape. Usually it wasn't too hard cause Tobi kind of wanted her dead. Probably because of her Hiraishin. Reminded him too much of his old sensei.
She pulled herself out of her mind in time to Hiraishin away from yet another forming seal, successfully dodging death yet again when the spot she was just in went up in flames.
Another Hiraishin and she avoided a water bullet to the head. A Hiraishin up to the ceiling and she'd avoided a tsunami wave of water. She was just dodging and she knew it. She couldn't really do anything else though, Mito was a reanimation, and that meant any damage healed almost instantly. Unlike Orochimaru's, which could be eliminated by destroying the seal in the backs of their heads, these ones had no such seal, and they had yet to figure out how to release the Edo Tensei.
A Hiraishin later and she had neatly removed Mito's head, spinning around to ready for another attack, tanto held at the ready.
While her head was busy reforming, Mito had crouched down and placed her hands on the floor. Tenten looked down in a slight panic to find the seal blooming under her feet. A flicker of chakra for Hiraishin, but nothing happened. A stronger flicker of chakra, and still, nothing.
"Sorry," Mito murmured.
Tenten almost thought she was speaking to herself.
"I'm sorry I can't leave you here to continue to become stronger, but I can't. I'm sorry."
Tenten remained paralyzed, unable to move off the seal, and unwilling to speak. She should've stayed on the ceiling.
Mito truly did look regretful as she activated the seal. "Learn as much as you can while you can."
Tenten nodded hesitantly before the blue chakra reached the end of the seal, and it felt like she was being squeezed through a tube, almost like Hiraishin, but worse.
She landed on her feet, what shinobi wouldn't, gaze immediately scanning the surrounding forest. She didn't spot anything immediately, but the sound of battle reached her.
She lunged towards the sound, coming out into a clearing with two people in it, a much older male she recognized as Danzo reaching for a younger male's eye. He looked like an Uchiha, black hair and red eyes spinning with the Sharingan. Tenten may not have known when or where she was, but eye stealing was a big no-no, especially when dealing with bloodlines. If she was right and the teen was an Uchiha, Danzo could be brought to justice. An attack on a noble clan was not to be ignored or taken lightly.
A warning kunai shot through the air between the two males, Danzo's arm immediately retreating. Tenten lunged forward, the tanto she'd been holding at the ready. The Uchiha seemed stuck, and she attempted to fix that with a neat kick to the ankles before pushing Danzo back and stabbing the tanto through his shoulder and into the tree behind him.
He growled and tried to throw her off, but a tag was quickly slapped across his forehead, and he slumped.
Tenten sighed, and stepped back, pulling the tanto out as she did. She pulled out a cloth and wiped the blade clean of blood before sheathing it.
The Uchiha had unfortunately remained frozen, even with the kick in the ankles. She wasn't sure if he'd even noticed.
"Uchiha," Tenten said, marching up to him. To her annoyance, he was about a half-foot taller than her, so she had to look up slightly. "Why was a council elder attacking you?"
The teen blinked, then looked at her. "I'm not quite sure, sorry."
Tenten sighed, just now noticing an odd burning feeling on her body. She knew she hadn't been hurt badly in the fight with Mito, so it could wait until she had some answers out of the Uchiha. "Well, we'll just have to get him to T&I to ask him," Tenten decided. "Are you alright? It looked like he was trying to steal your eye."
"I-I think he was," The Uchiha replied, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
Tenten nodded. "Right, so, I'm gonna take this guy to T&I, here, hold this, and then I'll be back to bring you to the Hokage's office." She handed him a marked kunai, and he took it absently.
"I should go with you," the Uchiha said quickly. "I'm a Jounin in the village, they'll trust me over you."
"No offense, but I don't even know your name."
"Shisui. Shisui Uchiha," he replied quickly.
"Well then, Shisui Uchiha, care to tell me the date and year?" Tenten asked because it could be any time before the massacre. She had a good idea of the date it happened but hadn't known any Uchiha as a kid, so she couldn't be sure.
Shisui rattled off a date, and Tenten blinked. It was only a few days away from the massacre. Maybe she could stop it.
"Alright then, come on, let's get this guy to T&I." Tenten decided after a moment of thought. She walked over and slung the unconscious councilman over her shoulder, which was harder than it seemed, given the councilman was both taller and heavier then her, but if she could carry around Kubikiribocho, she could carry around this idiot. And it wasn't for very long anyway. A very odd noise came from behind her, sounding something like someone had been stepped on, but she hadn't stepped on Shisui, and he was the only one around. Well, except for those signatures in the trees, but they weren't doing anything, so Tenten assumed they only had orders to intervene if Shisui was trying to get away.
Tenten walked back over to Shisui, placed her hand on his shoulder, and reached for one of Minato's seals in T&I. It actually led right into the main room, which was probably good, as it meant they wouldn't end up in a wall when she inevitably overshot by about 5 feet.
A flicker of chakra activated Hiraishin, and they disappeared from the field, leaving the ROOT agents to panic quietly.
They appeared in T&I, startling Inoichi, who'd been drinking a cup of coffee.
Tenten snickered inwardly and dropped Danzo on the floor with a thump. "You might want to stick this guy in a cell."
"Where did you come from?" Inoichi asked, setting his coffee aside.
"A clearing somewhere near the Uchiha compound," Shisui replied. "I can lead you to it if required."
"I walked in on this guy-" she kicked Danzo to make a point- "trying to steal this one's eye. I believe that's bloodline theft. Even if not completely carried out…" She trailed off, remembering Sasuke muttering about the Sharingan on Danzo's arm being annoying. She reached down and tore the sleeve covering the arm, showing white flesh and embedded Sharingan. "Make that bloodline theft. Extended."
A gasp came both from Inoichi, and from Shisui, who crouched down to tear the bandages off Danzo's covered eye. There was no eye there. "My eye would've gone there," he muttered, eyes activating unconsciously.
Tenten hummed in agreement, reaching down and with one quick movement, dislocated the arm, then tore it clean off, a quick seal tag keeping the blood from going everywhere. "Don't want him trying to use it when he awakens."
A couple of seals later, and the arm had been sealed into a scroll and preserved. She handed it to Shisui, who looked oddly starstruck. She briefly wondered why.
Shisui wondered exactly what he'd done to deserve this glorious goddess whose name he'd forgotten to ask, to burst in and save him from clear doom. She was beautiful, strong, and could probably cream him in a fight. It was official, he was in love. Absolutely and probably dreadfully smitten. At least Itachi didn't have the social tack to realize or tease him about it!
Inoichi sighed. "Alright then. I'll get him into a cell. Your name, please? I'll have to mark you as the one to bring him in."
"Tenten. No last name." Tenten replied, smiling and kicking Danzo again. Off to her left, Shisui made an odd sighing noise. Or was it a strangled cat noise. She wasn't sure. Why on earth was he doing that? Was he hurt?
Inoichi noted that down and summoned a pair of ANBU to fetch Danzo. "The seal on his forehead?"
"Keeping him unconscious. Blocks brainwaves. The one on his arm is a stasis seal, it will keep him alive without bloodloss," Tenten replied easily. "The forehead one can be disabled by a distinct pulse of chakra through the left-hand side. Your left when facing it."
There was another stepped on noise from Shisui, and she gave him a weird look. Their eyes met and he turned cherry red. Tenten was confused for a moment, then realized. Oh, he had a crush on her. Huh. It'd probably fade, so she ignored it. She glanced back to Inoichi, silently asking if they could go.
Inoichi nodded, and Tenten placed her hand on Shisui's shoulder again, sneaking a glance to find him bright red again, and using a flicker of chakra to teleport them to one of Minato's marks in the Hokage tower.
(A/N) Wasn't it funny that Inoichi managed to spill his coffee all over himself? For those of you worried, no, they aren't going to be dating for at least a month. I don't do insta-love. It's a silly trope, and besides, it'll be waaay funnier to watch Shisui's silly crush worsen before it turns to proper love. *Cackles* this'll be so much fun! Also, I dare you to try and tell me these two aren't totally made for eachother! The Soulmate thing'll come in a bit, don't you worry. Dare you to try and figure out what her marks are.
This will follow the same AU thing as the other soulmate story, but they are in different universes, so what happens here doesn't affect that one. And vise versa. Same mythos and stuff though. Do go see that one, it explains the whole soulmate thing waay before this one ever will. So read at least the first chapter of that? When it gets posted, anyway.
Also, yes, Tenten did realize Shisui has a crush, but hey, she isn't socially clueless, and I was not going to write ridiculous pining. But don't worry, you can get all the ridiculous 'what on earth is wrong with Shisui' from Itachi!
