Chapter 2 : Behind the mask
It was 1:00pm in our favourite inn and Manta Oyamada was in a hurry to go somewhere important.
"Manta why are you such in a rush?"His girfriend asked descending the staircase.
"Well you see i'm supposed to have lunch with a very important business client and i don't want to be late" He panted
"oh,you didn't tell me about that"she said innocently
"That's right!"He exclaimed"Gomen,i guess i forgot"He added
"It's OK, i understand"she gave him a reassuring smile
"Thanks for understanding"he said sheepishly
"By the way Himiko"
"Hmm" she stopped in her tracks
"Would you be alright staying here by yourself for a few hours"he had a worried expression on his face .He really didn't want to leave but he had to
"Don't worry about it Manta, I'll be fine"She assured him"Besides, you have really nice friends i'm sure they'll keep me company"
He nodded,feeling more confident about his girlfriend staying behind.
Manta:I'm very happy that Himiko likes my friends . i mean at first i thought she wouldn't like them. Trust me, i had my doubts but now i don't have to worry about that anymore
Producer(that's me,your authoress): who exactly among your friends where you having doubts about?
Manta: Umm,I'd rather not say but i think it's pretty obvious *cough*cough*Hao *cough
Manta waved to his friends and went out the door, got into his car and drove off to his destination . Himiko stood there and watched until his car was out of the clearing and turned around to see only two of the Inn occupants still standing there . The rest of them had gone to do whatever the heck it is they normally do .The two that were standing there were no other than Tamao Tamamura and Pirika Usui
"Hey,we were wondering if you wanted to go shopping with us later this afternoon"Pirika said in her normal,cheerful voice
"Yeah and i heard they are selling everything 50% off at the mall today"Tamao chipped in equally excited(but not as excited as Pirika)
"Pfft"Himiko scoffed"Don't pretend as if you know me that well" She answered coldly letting her forced smile fade.
"Wait,What?" Pirika said confused.
Tamao just stood there dumbfounded . It was as if Himiko was a totally different person from yesterday .She couldn't believe Himiko just said that and rest assured the producers were equally as shocked.
"Now that that squirt is gone i can finally drop this Bull**** of an act"She said in her previous cold voice as she ascended up the stairs not before adding something else
"Oh yeah,both of you had better stay out of my way or else i'll make your lives miserable"
{A/N:This like normal reality shows ,censors extreme coarse language only allowing mild ones like damn,crap and the likes.i would have you know that although i use them in the story i actually can't say them in real life.( i don't like swearing)
"Pirika?,Tamao?, why are you two just standing there"Horohoro asked coming from the kitchen with his best friend behind him
" Yeah,You two look like you just watched a horror movie"Ren added knowing that his girlfriend hated horror movies and from what he had heard from Horo,Tamao didn't like them either .In fact,he recalled a time when it was movie night in the inn .It had been Faust's turn to pick a movie for everyone to watch(A/N:That was obviously a bad idea).Anyway,the doctor had picked a horror movie for everyone. The movie was titled "The mad surgeon".He explained that it was about a doctor that was obsessed with dissecting people that he began to kill his patients,nurses and other innocent people just so he could cut them open. Ren knowing his girlfriend hated horror movies had suggested he pick something else but Pirika insisted that she had gotten over her fear of them and even added the fact that it was just a movie and that she was sure it won't be that bad .It was barely 5 minutes into the movie and she was literally shaking in her boots,she was so terrified that it was a miracle she managed to sit through the whole thing(well,only because she wanted to prove a point).What made it worse was how the movie doctor ran away before they could arrest him and was never seen again. Pirika couldn't sleep on her own for 4 weeks straight and as a result she had to sleep in Ren's room much to Horohoro's dismay. And according to what Horo told Ren,Tamao never slept with the light off for 3 whole weeks, fearing that the mad doctor would come and get her .Ever since that day Ren never let her watch horror movies again,like EVER
"You guys wouldn't believe what just happened"Pirika said,snapping Ren back to reality
"What?"Ren inquired gaining his composure
"Well.."And Tamao explained the whole ordeal to her fiance and his best friend
"She did what?"Horohoro looked dumbfounded still not believing what his fiance just told him.
"Onii-chan, you got to believe what Tamao and I are telling you"Pirika pleaded
"I'm finding a hard time believing myself"Ren added
"But why?" Pirika spluttered
"Because Pirika,this was the same girl who was acting all shy around us could she possibly have said all that?"Horohoro answered
"Yeah,it just doesn't make sense how she'd just change all of a sudden"Ren said buttressing Horohoro's point
"B..But.."Pirika was about to complain when Tamao put a hand on her shoulder to cut her off
"It's OK Pirika,We shouldn't blame them for not believing,the whole thing is surprising itself"Tamao calmly stated
"I guess you're right"Pirika sighed in defeat "I guess you guys would just have to wait and see for yourselves"
"I guess so" Ren said with a hint of doubt in his voice
"We'll probably keep a close watch on her during lunch but for now i'm starving"Horohoro said quickly returning to his usual hungry self (A/N:That's our Horohoro)
Horohoro(Elemental warrior/Tamao's fiance(yes people they're engaged): yeah,i don't really believe the whole Himiko not being who we really think she is s***.i mean i know for a fact that Tamao never lies cause she's bad at it but come on,the whole thing sounds far fetched if you ask me.
Everyone in the inn was seated for lunch and having their usual conversations ,Contrary to what was expected,Himiko did not show any signs of strange behavior. In fact,she was quiet throughout lunch only answering questions when she was asked with a small smile on her face. Pirika and Tamao never let their , Horohoro and Ren relented in their observation .After lunch, Tamao assisted by Pirika and the two Hanagumi waitresses cleared the table.
Tamao(Horohoro's girlfriend/Fortune teller): i was surprised Himiko didn't act up during lunch but i'm pretty sure everyone's gonna see her true colors soon.
Everyone had returned to do their usual activities. Some guys were watching a soccer game on TV. Ren went to the fridge to take his second glass of milk .Apparently, he hadn't gotten over his milk obsession yet, ,he opened the fridge and was stunned at what he saw .His milk bottles were empty ,completely drained of milk,finished,like there was nothing in the bottles(OK people, i think you get the point).Nobody and i mean absolutely nobody drinks Ren Tao's milk .The only person who could do that was his girlfriend (occasionally)and she knew better than to take it without asking. He slammed the fridge shut to see a familiar Raven haired woman standing next to the fridge.
"Oh!were those bottles of milk yours?"Himiko asked in mock surprise
Ren was trying to calm himself down even counting to ten .He didn't want to strangle her because she was a woman and Ren Tao doesn't hit women (or strangle them).As if drinking it wasn't bad enough she finished everything . When she had the time to do that,we will never know.
"Come on it's just milk , you can always buy more, you don't have to be such a baby about it"She said mockingly
"oh wait ,seeing as you drink so much milk i'm guessing you are a baby"She laughed hysterically
"SHUT UP WOMAN!"Ren screamed
"Hey,hey,Relax i was just kidding,You wouldn't hurt me now would you"she teased
At that moment,the Chinese shaman really wished Himiko wasn't a woman ,if she wasn't , he would have literally killed her right now but unfortunately, she was. Somehow he really did wish he hit women.
"Anyway catch you later ,Baby"She mocked as she sashayed out of the kitchen.
The only thing poor Ren could do was punch the wall in annoyance.
"Master Ren, is everything alright?''Bason asked floating beside his master.
Ren shot his guardian ghost a death glare. If ghosts could die again,despite being technically already dead,Bason would have died 7 wanting to make his master angrier than he already was,Bason just disappeared back to wherever it is he came from.
"Stupid Bitch" He cursed under his breath.
Meanwhile elsewhere,Horohoro was about to go out and buy some things Tamao had told him to get from the store when he saw Himiko throw something on the ground. He went over to her to correct her wrongdoing .
"Hey,Himiko you shouldn't litter" He said as politely as he could but still a bit sternly
"I can do whatever I want, Grandpa" She said with venom seething from her lips
" Excuse me?" Horohoro was taken back
"i'm pretty sure you heard me"She said nonchalantly
"You could harm the environment by littering. Besides some of us take our time to clean outside this inn" Horohoro said matter- of- factly
" Do i look like i give a damn" She barked back
Horohoro just stood there with his mouth agape. Not believing what was happening .His fiance and sister were right .He should have known but anyone would have doubted anyway.
"Close your mouth. Except you want flies going in"She said before she headed for the garden.
Horohoro was in complete disbelief he didn't even know what to say. He just clenched his fist and watched her figure disappear, bent down to pick up the wrapper she had thrown on the floor ,dumped it into the nearest trashcan and headed for the convenience store but not before saying his fair share of cuss words .None too good obviously.
It was 4:00pm when Manta called the inn that he would be back really late,not giving a proper explanation but they had assumed he had more business to do or stuff like that and that was when Himiko decided to cause more trouble .Mari was tending to the flowers in the garden as she loved to do in the late afternoons. it gave her a sense of calm she never knew was possible. In was other words,she really enjoyed doing it.
Mari was pouring some water on the carnations when she saw a foot, step on some of looked up to see who would do such a thing ,She saw it was none other then Himiko . If Mari was surprised ,she didn't show it.
" What do you think you're doing to Mari's flowers?"The blond asked the Raven haired female as she stood up from her squatting position.
"What does it look like i'm doing?,bimbo" She replied
oh ,She did not just go there .Nevertheless, Mari Miraculously kept her cool.
"Mari thinks anyone who treats flowers like that is a bitch" She stated coolly,hoping to hit her in her sensitive areas but unfortunately that wasn't the case
"Well i think Bimbos who talk in the third person are f&*%$ing stupid" she retaliated
Before Mari could even reply her statement,a familiar looking Brunette stepped into the garden.
"Mari, i was looking every where fo-"He cut his sentence when he saw the two women glaring daggers at each other.
"What the hell's going on?" He curiously inquired,eyebrows raised and everything.
Mari turned to her boyfriend and explained the situation to him.
"Mari was just minding her business,Tending to her flowers when this idiotic woman stepped on Mari's flowers"
"And why on Earth did you do that?"Hao directed his question to Himiko,his expression was unreadable.
"Oh please i don't need some prissy boyfriend playing hero"Himiko just rolled her eyes
"What?" Hao asked trying not to loose it.
"Admit it, you're just a some weak guy trying to act like some knight in shinning armor" She taunted
That was when she did it . Oh yes, she crossed the line when she called him weak. Weak was a word that Hao Asakura hated .It was something that absolutely disgusted him .It was like bile in his mouth .Anyone could tell from experience that you shouldn't use that word and Hao Asakura in the same sentence except you wanted to visit the grave early. You can call Hao cruel,Bastard anything but call him weak then you're just going too far.
''what the hell did you just call me?"He was fuming now ,His calm look now gone.
"What is it with all of you in this crappy inn ?,are you all deaf?" she said in annoyance
"I dare you to say that again"He said in a low,dangerous tone.
''OK,if you insist" She smiled "Weak,Weakady weak weak and weak" She mocked
"Why you little"He was about to wring his hands around her thin neck when Mari stopped him.
"Hao,ignore her ,Mari doesn't think she's worth Hao's anger"How she was still calm ,i really don't know .
"I got better things to do than stand here talking to you guys" she yawned"Anyway later weakling" she said ,walking all the way inside the inn.
"That brazen bitch"Hao angrily said as his girfriend tried to calm him down.
"Hao should calm down and forget about that witch"
Hao scoffed and turned around,knowing the Italian woman was right,he just sighed and let the anger leave his system.
''Where are the flowers?"
she pointed to the crushed carnations to her right.
Inside the inn,Jeanne was sitting down with Hana by the table playing a game with him on the tablet Manta had sent to him as a Christmas gift . Anna wasn't too supportive of her son owning his own tablet at such a young age,saying something along the lines of he'd become lazy . But after some pleas from Yoh,coupled with his infamous puppy dog eyes,she eventually gave in not able to resist her husband's Kawaiiness(Not a real word,people). Macchi was just leaning by the kitchen door drinking soda ,watching little Hana having fun when Himiko ,you guessed it,came to ruin the moment.
"Hey Himiko, I've been wondering where you were"Jeanne gave a her a warm smile.
"F#% & off Albino" she replied Jeanne coldly.
Jeanne audibly gasped .Even Macchi,who was leaning by the kitchen door spat out her soda . Hana just blinked in utter confusion.
"Insult me if you want but please don't use such words in front of Hana" Jeanne scolded
"yeah,Jeanne is right"Macchi pipped in
"I can say whatever i f^#$ing want" She spat but not before giving her hair a flip like in all those mean girl movies.
"What's Aunt Himiko saying?"Hana innocently asked
Jeanne and Macchi turned towards the toddler with their eyes Widened ,Gaining their composure rather quickly ,Jeanne just nodded to Macchi and it seems she was thinking the same thing as the french woman.
"N...Nothing Hana ,how about we go upstairs and play a game"Macchi nervously said offering to take Hana away from the Vulgar woman.
"OK" Not realizing the situation the 4 year old just agreed,taking his Samsung galaxy tab s6 lite with him ,Macchi took little Hana upstairs ,Jeanne turned to face the Hazel eyed woman.
"How could you say such things in front of a child,what if Anna found out?"
" oh puhleasse, I couldn't care less about anyone in this crappy inn" She responded
Jeanne just looked at her with her lips pursed together but just then her boyfriend stepped in(i really need to stop these and then this guy walks in cliches but i just taught it'd fit in. so yeah)
"What's -" Lyserg was cut off abruptly
"Don't even bother saying anything" Himiko cut him off not wanting this to be like the garden scenario with Hao and apparently wasn't in the mood for that.
"But-" He wanted to speak again but sadly he was cut off...AGAIN.
"Look British boy,why don't you go have a tea party and go choke on a biscuit or something" She brutally said before walking out .Lyserg was at a total loss for words. Jeanne just pulled his arm for the both of them to exit the room.
Lyserg(Elemental warrior/Jeanne's Boyfriend) : i don't even understand what just happened right now.
It went pretty much the same for everyone , with Himiko purposely and deliberately causing trouble for all the inn occupants .She pissed off literally everyone that day. She had told Chocolove that she'd rather listen to an estranged pregnant cat strangling a headless chicken on YouTube then listen to anyone of his jokes, called Ryu a 40 year old, rapist Sasquatch ,told Faust that he was a quack doctor that got his degree out of a hospital's garbage can .She had also said something racist to Nichrome,telling him he should go back to his little hut in his stupid country.In the span of a day she also managed to call Jun a hooker and tell Yoh that he was a pot headed hippie with poor taste in music even going as far as throwing his soul bob CD's in the trash to prove her point.
Manta had come back to the inn at exactly 11:24 pm . Quite late if you ask of the inn residents were already fast asleep but everyone was in their rooms,He sneaked into his room not wanting to disturb anyone. No one knew of his return not even his girlfriend . Yoh had told Anna about what Himiko had done and everyone else had done the same but she knew that it was the last straw that night when Himiko had come downstairs in a rather revealing night dress .Hana wanted get a glass of water because,well, he was thirsty (duh!).And it seemed his mother had the same idea,that is, she was also thirsty . She saw her son step out of his room and asked him what it is that wanted . He told her that he needed a glass of water,so she escorted her son downstairs to get a glass.
As Anna was washing two glass cups under the the faucet of running of water, Himiko choose to step in the kitchen wearing an extremely revealing night dress .Anna nearly dropped the cups on the floor .Hana just looked confused(poor Hana. u.u).
"What the hell are you wearing?"Anna said in a loud whisper
"A night dress ,duh"Himiko just rolled her eyes at the Itako
"How dare you wear something like that knowing there's a 4 year old in this inn?"She hissed
" I can wear whatever I f*&%$#ng want " she sassed
"Kaachan,Aunt Himiko is saying it again"Hana tugged at his mother's night gown referring to the f-bomb that Himiko just drooped.
"Don't pay attention to her,Hana"She softly said to the toddler beside her
"Don't try and sweet talk the little brat"
Not wanting to cause a scene as Everyone was most likely asleep plus it was a quarter past midnight (get it? quarter past midnight, as in Bastille,XD . : Authoress gets mauled by angry readers: fine ,fine i'll stop my useless jokes now and continue with the story,sheesh)she took her son upstairs ignoring the Raven haired woman,telling her son to just ignore the other woman as well.
After tucking her son in bed and giving him a kiss on the forehead(OK, i know Anna isn't the mushy type but come on peeps ,this is her son we're talking about ),she slipped into her room to find her husband awake and siting upright with a blank stare on his face.
"oh,Yoh you're awake" she said ,astonished
"Yeah,i am" He gave her a small smile." I've been awake since you left the room" He added
she closed the door behind her and sat down on the bed beside him.
"Anna ,I've been thinking about Himiko and everything that happened and i'm stilled baffled"He said not quite out of the blue
"Well if you want my opinion, i want that woman out of this you have any idea what that Woman did?" Anna said not hiding the anger in her voice
"What did she do?" Yoh asked surprised
"She had the guts to come downstairs wearing a trashy night dress in front of my child and to top it all she used vulgar words in front him"
Yoh just sighed at what he was told.
"I don't even know what to do about this but i know this can't continue"
"Throw her out of the Inn !" She almost felt like whacking her husband on his head
"But Anna you know we can't do that"
"It's easy. just throw her things outside and tell her she should get the hell out"She said dryly
"Anna!" He was shocked at his wife's harsh statement
"What?,it seems like the easiest way to get rid of her"
He just shook his head and sighed for the nth time with a sad look on his face
"Maybe, you're right , we definitely can't all continue to live like this"
"Of course i'm right"She said with a straight look
"Maybe not the way you described it but we have to do it either way" He admitted in defeat
"Obviously" she rolled her eyes at him
"But maybe we should tell Manta first" He added
"Ugh,fine"
"I never knew that it would come to this,But we have to tell Manta that Himiko can no longer stay here with us" Yoh said never expecting to make such a rash decision but he had no choice ,even if he didn't,it wouldn't change the minds of his other friends and his wife who desperately wanted the Hazel eyed Woman out of the establishment . It was a though decision but he had to make it anyway.
"Come on ,stop looking so gloomy,we'll sort all this out tomorrow but for now let's go to bed"She hated seeing her husband like that.
" Yeah" He nodded giving her a small smile.
With that they both crawled into bed and turned off the lights and allowed themselves to be drawn into dreamland. Hopefully without Himiko in it ,LOL.
Next time on keeping up with the shaman king:
" I can't believe this" Manta said in bewilderment
"Wait ,Manta don't go" Tamao called out to him but it was to late, he had already gone out.
"This is hopeless"Ren sighed in anger
"Lyserg is right .we need to find some evidence against her" Anna seconded the Detective's Idea
Drum roll,
How is Manta going to take the news about his girfriend? What kind of evidence will they find? Find out on the next Episode of keeping up with the shaman king.
