(A/N) New mission now! The murder will pop up again, don't worry. The cameo last time was that bird named Hawk. Cause Hawks, and he liked Touya? Anyone? ...Nevermind.
Now that Shisui had come to the conclusion he liked Tenten, he just had to start courting her! He had found the old Uchiha courting traditions scrolls, having not had a parent to teach him what they were, and even made a plan to do it around all of the missions they kept getting. Something about bringing back the Yuki's apparently meant they were going to be sent out on more missions. Well, it meant he wouldn't get too stir crazy, so he supposed it could be a good thing.
First up however, find an appropriate knife for the goddess that was Tenten. It had to be just perfect. Luckily, they were going into the capital for their next mission, which was them stealing a stolen artifact. It would be amusing at the very least. The capital often employed hilarious and often ridiculously complex security systems in hope of stopping ninja. It never did, but boy was it hilarious to watch.
While in the capital he hoped to find the perfect knife, and he'd have to remember to either send a clone to find one, or somehow sneak away himself. Either would do honestly. He just had to find a knife. A perfect knife.
"Shisui I swear if you're trying to brood I will kick your backend twelve ways from Tuesday."
"Coming, coming, sorry!" Shisui scrambled down his tree. "I wasn't brooding, I was just thinking!"
She gave him a very unimpressed raised eyebrow. "Right. And brooding. You were doing the frowning behind your linked hands and everything."
"I wasn-" Shisui paused, reconsidered his words, brought up the memories of what he'd been doing while thinking, and redid his sentence. "Nevermind, I was."
Tenten laughed. "Told you. Next time leave your hands behind your head and you'll look like you're napping. Or day dreaming. Brooding is not a good look on you."
Stars above Shisui loved her. "Yep! Will remember that!" And there he went, stumbling over his words like the fool he was.
"Come on, we have to leave in a couple of hours, and I need to grab an actual set of civilian wear." Tenten turned to leave, and Shisui silently pumped his fist. He'd have time to check Konoha one last time for a pretty knife. "Wait," she turned to face him. "Do you have actual civilian wear? Or just Uchiha clothing."
Shisui's brain paused and he reviewed all of the clothing he knew for sure was in his drawers. Nope, it all had the Uchiha high collar and crest. "Uhh, probably not?"
"Looks like we'll have to find stuff for both of us," Tenten sighed. "Alright, come on."
"Coming!" Shisui avoided one stick, tripped on another, almost ran into a tree, and was suddenly very grateful Tenten hadn't met him in his gangly early teen years. He'd been even more clumsy then, and he was clumsy now.
"I'm going to assume you'll want something black," Tenten said, hopping gracefully over a log. "But it isn't going to have a tall collar. I don't care how attached you are to the aesthetic, no high collars this time. It'll just be for a few days while we do recon."
Shisui nodded along, trying to make the fact he was staring less noticeable. How did she just...jump over the log so gracefully. If he tried that he'd probably trip over the log and his own two feet, and end up on the ground.
Tenten hopped over another log while Shisui went around, not at all up for embarrassing himself this time. He'd have plenty of time to do it later. So he'd rather wait for later.
Tenten made a beeline for a place, so Shisui assumed she knew what she was doing and followed her. He didn't ever get his clothes outside of the Uchiha district, and even then, rarely bought clothes at all, preferring to sew any holes up himself if really needed.
First up was apparently what Tenten was wearing, and Shisui let himself be dragged to the appropriate sections.
"Have to find something with enough places for hidden pockets," Tenten said, flicking through the dresses. "And still easy enough to move in."
Shisui stared somewhat uncomprehendingly at the rows of dresses in weird cuts and colors. Wasn't her preferred color like red or something? He poked at a red dress with gold trimmings and a long slit up the side.
Tenten glanced at it, then pulled it out, holding it up to herself. "Hm, a bit too big, although I do like the colors, probably a bit longer than I'd want." She put it back, and Shisui turned around to see the rack behind them. There were at least four others of the same dress he'd just poked, so he turned back around, not particularly wanting to think the dresses were multiplying or something. Which, who knew, they might be.
Tenten held another dress up against herself, this one white with gold and red trimmings, about mid calf length, and with a shorter slit up the side. The neckline was weirdly low, and Shisui squinted at it suspiciously.
"Yeah, the neckline's a bit low, so I'd probably wear a shirt under it or something," Tenten admitted, putting it back.
Shisui squinted at the dress suspiciously for a moment longer as Tenten grabbed another one. What even was the point for something that low?
"This one's a bit short, but I was going to be wearing leggings under it anyway." The dress was again red with gold trimmings, mid thigh length, and without sleeves. It had a higher neckline then the last, although Shisui wasn't sure if there could be something with a lower neckline then the last one.
"I'll try this one on I think," Tenten said after a moment. "You go over there to the men's section and see if you find anything while I do that."
Shisui nodded, starting to wander in the direction she'd pointed in. He found the black section, and decided to wait for Tenten, who clearly knew how to shop in a civilian shop.
Tenten came back with about four copies of the dress she'd gone to try on over her arm. Shisui tried not to stare at them. So they did multiply.
"I assume you aren't nearly as picky," Tenten said, gesturing to the shirts. "Find one in your size and pick it up. Shouldn't be too hard. As long as you don't use bandages to tie off the ends, your usual pants should be just fine. It's just the high collar and Uchiha symbol that need to go."
Shisui located his size in shirts, picked up three, and hoped it was good enough.
"Alright, let's go pay," Tenten said, clearly amused.
(A/N) And here we see my innate Aceness leaking through. Shisui child is so confused about clothing shopping and it's hilarious. I love my clumsy disaster child.
