(A/N) And this is the point I remember, oh, this was a soulmate au fic. Whoops. Oh well. Also, assume there's been a bit of a time skip? They're dating officially and stuff now. Assume it's been a while.

"Border patrol will do just fine," Tenten informed the chuunin at the desk nicely, hand over Shisui's mouth. She dragged him out, the scroll in her other hand.

"But I don't want border patrol," Shisui whined as soon as she let go.

"You wanted a mission didn't you?" She replied firmly. "Unless you want to go back in there and see if there are any D-ranks, we're doing this one because I don't feel like facing your uncle's wrath for dating you and existing in general."

He pouted, but trailed after her without further protest.

The border was generally pretty quiet, although the Hokage was expecting an ANBU mission back at some point then, so he'd wanted extra reinforcements on the border just in case it had gone really south.

With any luck, that hadn't happened and Shisui and Tenten's presence would be pointless. It probably wouldn't happen, knowing her luck, and the Uchiha luck in general that had seemed to transfer to the entirety of the Konoha 12 along with the Uzumaki luck from Naruto. Like a triple dose of bad luck with a high chance of protagonist-y actions.

"But is the entire arsenal necessary?" Shisui asked, hovering over her shoulder as she sealed up most of her arsenal. "It's just border patrol."

"Shisui, just because there isn't expected to be any trouble because of the mission we're there to receive means nothing especially when it comes to Konoha 12 luck." Tenten huffed, turning to her boyfriend. "Team 7 went on a mission to Wave, which isn't even that far away, and they ran into both the Demon Brothers and Zabuza."

"Okay good point," Shisui agreed.

"I'm just being prepared to fight an army," she said, shrugging and finishing up, sealing away those scrolls into her arm. "Just in case."

"Just in case," Shisui echoed.

"We'll just hope we don't need it," Tenten said, standing up. "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

Luckily, nothing went wrong. The ANBU team reentered Konoha territory without anyone chasing them, although they needed to be patched up before they could actually get back to Konoha.

"So…" Shisui said, shifting next to her. "This might be a bad time but…"

Tenten glanced over at the uncharacteristic nervousness in his voice. She realized exactly why it was there when she saw the ring. Simple black band with a ruby set in the middle. Engravings climbed up the sides to wrap around the ruby. Unobtrusive and slim enough to mean she likely could keep it on most times, even while training.

"Marry me?" He offered, a halfway sheepish smile on his face.

Tenten laughed, going up on her tiptoes for a quick kiss while she took it from him. "Of course dear."
