Chapter 35 - The happiest day

-Me-

I never thought this day would happened. After he promised to replace my ring with a wedding ring, I thought he was just saying that for the sake of the moment. But here I am. Wearing the very dress that I knew would never be worn by me. If only Alice and Lucas could see me now... "Catherine! It's time," A voice calls out. I turn away from the mirror. This was it. I was finally going to be with him. This time for good.

||Church||

Everyone I knew from the military was here. Obviously, our new Furher didn't waste time in making sure nothing happens to this perfect day. Taking one deep breath, I stood before the large doors and waited for my cue to step inside the hall. "You look beautiful." I yelp in surprise at dad's sudden appearance. I lightly slap him with my bouquet, joking, "Papa, you're late again! Mama won't be happy to know her husband still hasn't arrived yet." "I know! I know! It's just..." He pulls down the veil. "I never thought I'd get the chance to be part of the greatest chapter of my little girl's life. If only it wasn't to that guy..." "Papa..." I rolled my eyes. We had an argument when I told him about the sudden proposal. Papa even swore he would send his future son-in-law back to the gate for taking things too fast.

I agree that it was sudden, but after everything that's happened, I don't think I would have the heart to say no. The pipe organ started to play from behind the doors not long after. "You ready?" papa asks, extending his arm to me. I smile and firmly take hold of him, "As if I would back down now." Once the doors open, I was nearly brought to tears at the people who I saw. When we started to walk down the aisle, the entire church went silent and all eyes were on me at this point. I almost wanted to run until I saw HIM standing at the alter. Brought to tears, I bit my lip and continued my walk towards the one I love. He's been there since I first arrive in this world. And the fact he was willing to sacrifice himself just so I could stay, there was no way I could go back. Not like that.

Not too far from where I was, I could see Al and Winry watching. They happily waved once they noticed me staring at them. There was something off about that. Al has his body but... there's something missing. I shrug it off and continued on with the wedding. One I reached the end, I almost forgot to breathe once I was up and close to him. Papa reluctantly hands me over to the groom before going to where Mama sat, who was extremely upset that she thought he wouldn't arrive on time like before. "Wow... never thought I'd see the day you'd wear another dress," he jokes once I stood in front of him. I lightly stomp on his foot in response. The priest interrupts our short banter with a cough, making us stop and pay attention to the wedding. Our wedding. For some strange reason, the priest looked more like a woman. Let alone have red hair.

As the priest began to read from the bible, I couldn't help but stare at the man before me watch the priest as he continues to talk. This was it... I can't believe it's finally happening. Unable to hold back the overwhelming happiness, a few tear fells. Feeling my eyes on him, he turns his head to me and was surprised to see the tears. He brings his gloved hand to wipe them away. "What's wrong?" ask the man, most likely worried that I was starting to regret this. I shake my head and firmly held his hands. "Nothing..." Then the time to seal our vows began.

"Do you... Catherine Cairo take Roy Mustang as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"
"I do."
"And do you, Roy Mustang, take Catherine was your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"
"I do."

The priest closes the bible and steps back. "You may now kiss the bride." As Roy lifts the veil up and slips my ring on, there was something that started to feel off about this. But what? 'Who was it that was with us during our journey...?' I slip the ring on his hand. 'He used to argue with me a lot... call me, Kitty. Who was he?' I close my eyes when I saw Roy lean down to my face. 'He is supposed to be Al's big brother... not exactly big but a- shrimp?' My eyes shot open. "Ed...?" The 'priest' bursts out laughing. "You finally realized it! I thought I would actually watch you kiss the bastard!" I watch as the white hate was thrown off to reveal long red hair, and a girl that wore the robes of a priest. She smiles evilly at me, asking, "Did you enjoy your little fantasy? C-A-T?"

"Gah!" I shot up only for my head to collide with someone above me. "Ow! What the heck Cat?!" I was about to yell back but immediately went quiet with who I saw. "Ed...?" I muttered, confused to see him. He rubs his forehead and glares at me, saying, "Mustang told me to pick you up. Said something about a special meeting." "Special..." The memories of that dream flashed into my mind. "MEETING!?" And speak of the devil, he walks up. "Oh you're awake. I need to talk to you about-" I grabbed Ed and ran straight out of the room, shocking both Ed and Mustang.

"Slow down! What's gotten in to you?"
"Shut up! I don't want to face that bastard! Not after having that horrible nightmare about him!"
"Nightmare? What nightmare are you talking about!?
"Oh I don't know... the one where you're happily marrying the guy who's been a total dick since day one!"

"SAY WHAT!?" Ed abruptly stops, forcing me to fall over once he lets go of me. When I was about to get up, he suddenly grabs my hand and takes my gloves off. "Listen here, Cat! This ring is from me, and me alone! If anyone's going to replace it with a different ring... it should be ME!" I sat there, blinking as I tried to register what he just said. My face instantly heats up once it finally came to me what he just said. I think Ed started to figure it out with how his face was now completely red too.

-Normal-

Giggling, a girl in all red watches the two from outside the window as both start to stutter and avoid looking at one another in the eyes. She smiles and write in the book that had a blue rose crest on it. "Too bad she doesn't know what today it." She turns around and faces someone. "What about you guys? Did you forget too?"
