"Hey, CONTROL assholes who just stole my car!" the voice in the radio shouted. "You so much as put one dent in it..."

"Sorry? I'm afraid we're losing you," Chief said, turning it off. They were barrelling through a golf course, getting tons of dents in the car as they went, and Susan was hanging on for dear life in the backseat.

"SAND TRAP!" she shrieked right before Max blew through it. She hit her head on the roof. "Ow!"

"I'm really steamed," Max said. "I can't believe 23 is a traitor and none of us saw it. Now I know how you felt when you thought I was a traitor."

"TRACTOR!" Chief bellowed, and Max easily swerved to avoid it, making both Chief and Susan crash into the windows.

"I really don't know how I missed it," Max said. "I'm so observant."

"MAX!" Susan shrieked.

"SWORDFISH!" Chief shouted at the same time. They crashed into the building and came to a sudden halt after shattering it into pieces. Susan fell to the floor of the car and struggled to get back up when they stopped moving. She yelped when she saw the Chief.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Max asked him.

"If you're thinking, 'Holy shit, holy shit, I nearly got impaled by a swordfish and almost shit my pants,' then yes, we're thinking the same thing," Chief said, looking at the needle of the swordfish right in his face with slightly crossed eyes.

"I was thinking, 'There's a plane,'" Max gestured.

"Right. Well, then," Chief said, clearing his throat. "Let's go."

The three of them got out, and they commandeered the plane. Susan wondered where Ford was. She knew he couldn't keep up on foot forever. Chief got connected with Bruce, who gave them directions to find 23 and 99. Susan held on for dear life as Chief flew the plane. When they came to the SUV 23 was driving, Max started to climb out of the plane.

"Hey!" Susan yelled. "Be careful!"

"I will!" he called back. She craned her neck to see him slide and grab the wire behind them. Then he was being thrown around in the wind while holding onto the sign, which happened to be advertising help for suicide. Susan covered her eyes with her hand. She really felt nervous now.

...

Max slammed against cars as he got lower. A speed bike went racing past him, and he saw it was Ford, who caught up to the SUV easily enough and jumped up onto the roof of it. Max wasn't too long getting there himself, and he opened the side door to help 99. Ford leaped in through the passenger window and started wailing on 23.

"Who's laughing now?!" Ford shouted, punching him in the face over and over until 23 managed to block him and fight back. Max managed to grab the briefcase only to get knocked backwards by one of 23's flailing arms. Max was barely hanging in there.

"I could be of more help if you untied me!" 99 yelled.

"There's a knife in my right, front pocket," Max told her. She reached in with her foot, making him start to laugh because she wasn't grabbing his knife. When she did finally get it, she opened up the wrong part.

"Not that!" Max shouted, but he was too late. The flame thrower went off, and she screamed. 23 and Ford ducked, causing the SUV to go all over the road. Max finally got up and freed 99 before the SUV went over the side of the bridge. He braced himself as best as he could, and he jolted hard when they landed and started going down the tracks. He looked to see that 23 was knocked out from the crash, as was Ford.

"Come on," Max said, helping 99 get up to the roof of the car. "Chief, I have the football but no code to stop it!"

"These tracks are heading right back to downtown L.A.," 99 added anxiously.

"We gotta jump, but it'll probably kill us," Max said.

"Hang on, I'm coming to get you!" Chief shouted in his ear.

"Max!" 99 screamed as 23 came up to join them. Ford was behind him in seconds, and he tackled him, sending 99 toppling in the process. She got caught hanging off the SUV for dear life.

"99!" Max shouted. 23 drop kicked Ford in the stomach, and he fell backwards, sliding down to the front of the SUV.

"I'll take that," 23 said to Max and gesturing to the briefcase.

"If you want it, you'll have to take it," Max said.

"I just said that!" 23 exclaimed, annoyed.

"I know! I'm just trying to piss you off!" Max replied. They engaged in a struggle, and then Max had an idea. It was something 99 had done before, and he was desperate. He grabbed 23's head, pulling him in.

"Nooooo," 23 said as Max kissed him. "Uh uh. Uh uh!"

When Max stopped, 23 was stunned, giving Max time to slam the briefcase into him and knock him back into the SUV through the sun roof.

"99!" he shouted again, getting up to help her. They lost their balance and fell down onto the sign they'd been dragging behind them the entire way.

"Your foot!" she shrieked. Max looked, and it was indeed stuck. They both looked as Ford went rolling past them, his hands covering his head. He sat up after he stopped, watching them.

"I really wish we had more time," Max said to 99.

"What?" she asked. He flipped her off, and she shrieked. He reached for his knife and started cutting at the rope.

...

"Oh my God!" Susan shrieked when the train crashed into the SUV and then Max. "NOO!"

"Max!" Chief yelled. He slammed his hand on the console in front of him. "Damn it!"

"Noooo," Susan kept crying. She couldn't believe she'd lost her best friend.

"What happened? What happened?" Bruce's voice asked.

"Susan?" Nancy's voice came on. "I'm here! I got here as fast as I could. Please don't tell me I was too late! What happened?!"

"Max...Max is..." Susan tried, but she couldn't finish it.

"Oh no," Nancy said, getting it without her saying it. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Susan."

Chief turned the plane, doing another loop. Susan wasn't sure what they were going to do now. 99 just told them the football was broken. If they can't stop the bomb, a lot of lives would be lost. Susan was beginning to feel hopeless.

"Chief!" Max's voice shouted at them suddenly.

"Yea! Maxie, are you okay?!" Chief called. Susan felt so much relief in her chest. She started to cry a little.

"Yes. The final notes to Ode to Joy are going to trigger the bomb. We have to get back to Disney Hall!" Max yelled.

"Okay! I'm on it!"

"Go, Susan!" Nancy shouted.

"I'm hanging up now," Chief said, disconnecting them. Then he yanked the plane, and they barreled back to where they came from. When they parked and got out, they ran back to the building.

"Look, I already told you..." the guy there started, but Chief punched him in the face.

"You'll have to speak up," he said. "I'm an old man, you know!"

Max and 99 came right behind them, and Max ran towards the concert. Susan covered her face with her hands as he ran right up and tackled the orchestrator, knocking him down into the instruments and causing a big to-do.

But no bomb went off. Susan had never felt more relief in her life, even after she learned Max was still alive. Ford came up behind her, startling her.

"I knew it," he said. "Bomb under a piano. That's classic."

"You didn't know it," Susan argued.

"I did so. I've seen it a dozen times before."

"Where? When?" she challenged. He simply waved his hand and rolled his eyes.

"Come on, toots," he said. "We have to go back and face the Dragon Lady."

Susan was dreading this very much.

...

They had found the bomb under the piano, which had been a complete guess on Max's part. He was so proud and happy. He had no idea the back of his pants had been burned off when he did his bowing. He had felt mortified when Susan told him.

They were standing outside now, and he had a towel around him, courtesy of a paramedic.

"I have to go," Susan said. "But I'm glad you did it, Max. I'm proud of you." She hugged him.

"Thanks for all your help," Max smiled after. "I know one day we'll be lucky to have you in the field with us too."

"I doubt Elaine will let me after this," Susan sighed. "I did defy orders."

"She'll come around," Max said. "I'm sure of it."

"I can send a letter," Chief offered.

"That would be much appreciated," Susan grinned. "Thank you!"

"We'll talk soon," Max promised.

"Yes, we will! And go get that puppy! You deserve it," Susan smiled. Max laughed a little in return, and she saluted before going to join Ford in the cab.

"Well," 99 said to him when Chief was occupied with someone. "We have all the time in the world now."

"We do," Max agreed.

"What do you want to do?" she asked.

"This," he answered, kissing her again. He'd been dying to ever since the first time, and it was just as good the second time.

It was more than good, actually. It was perfect.
