A clawed hand pulled a flower stem roughly making it snap apart with ease. Dark purple petals pebbled with rain drops glistened against the bronzed hand that held it.

Azure eyes inspected the fragile flower in his hand, his nose sniffing it with interest as he inhaled the flowery scent.

So this is what Kagome was orginally traveling for? He thought, as he recalled the wolf pup telling him about it earlier this morning.

Memories of this morning lingered in Kogas mind, a smile tugging at his lips. His tail swished back and forth happily at the thought of the sleeping miko.

He awoke every morning at dawn, when the sun lazily pulled itself from it's own slumber to once again warm the earth. Today there was no warm rays or the morning song of chirping birds. Instead they were replaced with darkened cloudy skys and the sound of pouring rain.

He groggily brought his hand to his face, a slight pounding headache erupting through his head. He drank to much during the festivities from the night before.

Eyes snapping wide as images from last night flooded through his mind and where he had spent the night. His head jerked to the side as he gawked at the sleeping maiden next to him.

She faced him, head still resting upon his arm, her delicate arms tucked against her breasts. Her extravagant hairdo loosened through out the night from its bindings; black curls with braids and shimmering beads fanned around her form and upon his arm.
Her eyes remained closed behind thick lashes while her plump red lips were slightly parted.

In all of his hundreds of years of being alive, this was probably the most beautiful scene be has ever woken up to.

Oh how he has dreamt of this moment countless times years ago when he first met her.
To wake up to her angelic form, to breathe in her enticing aroma and to be able to touch her.

Is this a dream?

Azure eyes fogged with despair at the thought of the human girl disappearing before him. His free clawed hand reached out to her slowly with want.
He wanted to feel the tips of his fingers caress her creamy white skin, to make sure this was all real... that she was real.

Suddenly his hand halted.

The smell of another was inside his little secret room.

He heard the nervous heartbeat pound inside a little chest and the quiet footsteps of bare feet make their way to where he laid with the human girl.

No, this was a nightmare.

Through clenched teeth he said, "What do you want?"

He heard a exaggerated huff of defeat from behind him. "Do you ever sleep?"

"No."

He was a light sleeper, always on alert at all times.
But, with the combination of sleepless stressful nights, countless cups of whiskey from the night before and the enticing aroma that came off of the sleeping girl next to him; surprisingly he slept throughout the night.

But, this pup didn't need to know that.

Honestly, if the pup came a minute sooner he would have definitely succeeded on sneaking up on his king, winning this match.

That would have been his first loss in the game the king was forced into playing with the pups of his tribe.

He heard the patter of quicken feet make their way from the shadows towards the two forms laying upon pelts and silk.

"Oh?" He heard the boy say with amusement as he sat next to Kogas sprawled out form. "You look rather comfortable."

Koga growled a warning. His free arm shielding his annoyed face from the view of pup.

"Did you need something, Kai? If not, then leave."

"I was sent to fetch you."

"To fetch me?," an amused eyebrow quirked as his azure eyes glared at the pup from under his arm. "Who sent you?"

The pup rolled his eyes as he leaned forward, his elbows landing upon Kogas chest of armor as his head sat in his little hands. His eyes stared at the human girl on the other side of his King. "Who do you think?"

All the members of his tribe left him alone, no one dared to disturb him unless it was for good reason.
Except for one old withering hag, who didn't seem to care if she unleashed the Kings anger.

Koga groaned her name in irritation, "Yuriko."

"Yes," Kai replied with a frown on his lips. "She even woke me up to find you. Cursing about how you and Sister Kagome disappeared in the middle of the night." Kai side glanced at his King, "She seemed pretty upset with you."

Running a clawed hand through his hair in frustration, he looked up at the painted stars on the ceiling.

Memories of the discussion he had with Yuriko in his chambers yesterday flashed through his mind.

Ayame...

He forgot about her again.

The auburn haired demoness was usually always dancing in the back of his mind, always in his thoughts.
But as of late, she has hardly made a appearance. And when she did, it was for a mere second before her form shifted to of Kagome.

Ayame would be upset if she saw him now.. having slept side by side with the woman he once loved.

Once loved...

Kogas eyes shifted from the ceiling to the human girl sleeping soundlessly on his arm.

Once loved? Were those words still true?

"So are you going to go? Or are you going to stare at Sister all morning?" Kai asked, breaking Koga from his deep thoughts.

"Shut up."

"I don't blame you.. she's way more pleasing to look at than Lady Yuriko."

"Kai..." he growled.

It's to early for this shit...

He heard the boy laugh behind a covered hand; trying to not wake the girl.

Silence fell across the room, as Koga started to sit up from the comfort of the piles of furs and the girl. He gently lifted the girls head from his arm, and lightly placed it back against the furs.
She moved ever so slightly, eyebrows furrowed from the lose of warmth, but eventually falling back into a deep slumber.

"She never did get her flowers..."

"What?" Koga asked as he pulled himself up, stretching his stiff limbs, cracking bones in the process.

"Sister Kagome," Kai said softly as he scooted his way closer to her sleeping form, "the reason why she was in the forest in the first place was to retrieve some sort of flower for her village that grows near here."

"What kind of flower?"

"A flower with purple petals... she said they help heal wounds."

He knew what flower Kai now described. He grudgingly remembered being forced to pluck some for Yuriko in the past.

With on last look at the sleeping miko, Koga turned on his heel and made his way towards the tunnel, "Stay with Kagome till she awakens."

"Are you going to see Lady Yuriko now?" Kai asked, gray eyes glancing back at his Kings broad back as he disappeared within the shadows.

"No."

"What?! Where are you going then?"

"To hunt."

The sound of thunder and crackle of lightening through the darkened sky brought Koga back from his morning memories.

His eyes glanced up at the sky briefly and then back at his hand, twirling the stem of the flower between his finger tips. The rain of droplets dancing off its pedals as new ones from the sky replaced them.

"Can we go now, my King? The rain is getting heavier and I think you have acquired enough of flowers."

With a glare Kogas eyes glanced back at two of his men whom he forced to accompany him on his hunt.
Once successful in their gathering of game, he ordered them stop at a clearing near the mountain side where he knew these flowers grew.

He looked back at them, both demons completely soaked and miserable.

The usual thick untamed gray and black hair laid flat against Gintas scalp from the pouring rain. He held a bundle of purple flowers in his arms while the carcass of a dead buck from the kill earlier was draped over his wet shoulders.
Wide eyes stared at Koga, "Hakkaku, don't you agree? I think two armful of flowers is enough for Sister." His eyes glanced at the dozens of flowers he had within his arms to his Kings armful of ones.

Worried eyes glanced up at his King as his name was mentioned, memories of last night flashing through his mind; remembering how upset the king was when he saw him dance with his guest.
An anxious clawed hand ran through his wet mohawk while he nervously replied, "Ginta, we don't know how many flowers Sister needs. The more, the better I think."
He lightly laughed nervously as he readjusted the two deer in his arms.

"Maybe we should make it three armfuls.." Koga said aloud for both of his generals to hear.

"Yes, my King. Allow me to help." Hakkaku said as he nervously made his way to where Koga crouched.

Ginta groaned. He just wanted to get out of the rain.
