The sound of the roosters screeching alarm rang outside the warm home, signaling the start of a new day. Whispers of farmers could be heard from a distance chatting amongst themselves as they made their way to the rice fields, their sandled feet trudging along the gravel path tiredly.
The first whisps of morning light shined through a nearby window falling onto two forms.
The demon groaned in aggravation at the bright intrusion, raising a arm to cover his closed eyes, in hopes to block out some of the mornings rays.
The wolf king was hoping to get a few extra hours of sleep, his body still feeling a bit sluggish. But, with the villagers chatting outside and the sound of farm animals also awakening from their slumber, that just wasn't going to happen.
With a defeated sigh and eyes still shut, he ran his clawed fingers through his long dark hair, taking notice that his crown wasn't upon his head and the ribbon that held his usual high pony tail was also missing, leaving his hair sprawled around him.
Suddenly he heard it, the sound of a soft breathing next to him.
His eyes snapped opened in surprise as he quickly turned his head to the side. A light blush emitting from his cheeks as he took in the sight next to him.
There, a goddess, laid curled up under a thick blanket of slumber. Her ink black hair fanned around her, mixing into his own long dark tresses, as bangs slightly covered her closed eyes that were hidden behind thick lashes. Her rosey lips were slightly parted as light breathes left them as she continued to sleep soundlessly.
Her kimono came undone during the night revealing a smooth bare shoulder and round curves of the top of her breasts that slowly rised with every breathe she took. The porcelain skin seemed to glow under the warm beams of light that leaked into the room.
His body froze as he took in the angelic form sleeping next to him.
Is this a dream?
The last few days he dreamt of waking up next to the beautiful miko just like this, only to become disappointed afterwards when he opened his eyes and she wasn't there.
Slowly a clawed hand reached out to her, slightly hesitating above her head, fearful that if he would touch the sleeping maiden next to him she would disappear from him like the rest of his blissful dreams.
Fingers lightly brushed a few strands of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear gently.
She slightly moved under his touch, causing his hand to freeze in worry that he awoken her. But, with a soft moan and few incoherent words that left her soft lips, she scooted her body closer to his warmth and was soon back in a deep slumber.
Reluctantly he pulled his hand away from the sleeping priestess, his azure eyes never leaving her curled up form as his mind raced trying to remember how he got so lucky to waking up to such a enchanting sight.
Memories flooded his mind from the night before.
He remembered the icey look he gave the farmer as he hastenly ate his meal, slurping down the contents of the stew from the bowl. With a quiet thank you to Kagome, he quickly took his leave saying he was needed at home.
The priestesses eyebrows were raised in confusion as she waved good bye to Ichiro while he slid the paper door shut behind him.
Kogas eyes shifted to the girl next to him, completely content now that the farmer had finally left after a short visit. "Is something the matter, Kagome?"
She didn't look back at the wolf demon, but continued to stare at the closed door curiously. "He was acting so strange... usually he's so upbeat and talkative."
Miroku sniggered from across the fire, "I wonder why..." as he brought a cup up to his lips, finishing the rest of the sake till the cup was completely empty. "I'm sure all the men in the village will be acting that way from now on."
"What do you mean?" Kagome asked, clearly not understanding what had just taken place minutes ago between the human man and the wolf king.
Azure eyes met dark blue ones as both men stared at each other.
Koga remained silent under his gaze, fully aware of what the monk meant by his comment.
He knew his little threat would reach ears and soon suspicions would arise throughout the human village on what kind of relationship him and the human girl had... and let them.
Let them gossip about the wolf demon who visited the village priestess, who hinted at breaking bones and killing someone who got to close to the girl. As long as no simple farmer thought he had a sliver of a chance with the miko he didn't give a damn.
Koga simply shrugged, a smug smile forming on his lips, "Yes, Miroku, what ever do you mean?" He asked, almost mockingly.
The monk chuckled, "I guess I mean things are going to start getting interesting around here..." with a mischievous glint in his eye he continued, "especially when certain admirers from other villages show up..."
Koga felt his eyebrow twitch, his eyes squinting in irritation, "admirers?"
"Mmmhhhmm." The monk smiled, enjoying the way the wolf squirmed as worry and jealousy rolled off him in waves. "Oh yes, lots of them."
The wolf king glanced over to the girl sitting next to him, arms crossed over her chest as thick black waves of hair flowed to the floor around her.
Her beautiful face was scrunched in clear irritation as hazel eyes stared intently at the monk. "I'm so confused." She said with frustration, "What admirers?"
He wasn't that surprised that men sought out her hand both inside... and outside the village.
He was well aware years ago that she attracted lots of attention from men where ever she went during her search for the Shikon jewel shards. But with muttface traveling along her side he never had to worry; his brash behavior would scare anyone with interest away from the beautiful priestess.
And as the years went by, with her beauty growing and the tales circulating of her adventures of defeating Naraku and continously aiding villages with her powerful priestess abilities... and also with the disappearance of the lingering hanyou, it only made sense for her to accumulate even more attention now.
I guess I'll be visiting the village quite often from now on...
He couldn't explain it; why his body shook with a jealous rage at the thought of another man besides himself touching the miko... she wasn't even his to touch. He held absolutely no claim to her whatsoever.
And the auburn haired demoness that he should have been territorial over, his future mate, he could care less about. Ever since their union was announced, she waited in the northern mountains for him to take her officially as his mate. And being hundreds of miles apart from one another, he just was never worried if another demon showed interest in her.
No one would dare to disrespect the betrothal mark he would leave upon her flesh and risk his wrath.
But, even now, he knew the temporary mark had since been gone from her pale smooth skin. And still, he had no interest to hurry back up to the North, to see her pretty face and place his lips upon her collarbone once again, laying claim to what was his.
He sighed heavily, a clawed hand running through his long dark hair frustratedly.
These awakened feelings and emotions for the human girl had become overwhelming for him.
He was at constant battle with himself since she reappeared back into his already chaotic life, always having to choose between his high position duties and his beastly urges for the miko.
"Is something troubling you, Koga?" The monk asked, clearly enjoying the wolf demons inner torment.
"No, of course not. Why would I be troubled?"
"You shouldn't be troubled at all, Koga. There is absolutely nothing for you to worry about here in the village." Sango interjected, with a scowl still placed upon her pretty lips. She continued to glare at the wolf demon, as she held up her sleeping son in her arms.
The boys small head tucked into the crook of her neck, mouth parted wide as he snored loudly in the warm embrace of his mother.
Koga sneered at the demon slayer as a soft growl left his lips.
If she had been anyone else, he would have lashed out at the woman by now. But, since she was the mikos close friend, he bit his tongue and tolerated her. But, now he just about had enough of Sangos fowl attitude and dirty looks that were directed at him throughout the night, his patience quickly thinning.
The wolf king jilted from his angered thoughts as the feeling of a warm hand being placed upon his own. Worried hazel eyes looked up at him, "Koga?"
She said his name softly, for only him to hear, immediately calming the furious beast inside him.
Suddenly a loud snore erupted through the tense room accompanied with soft moans as the little boy adjusted himself in his mothers arms.
"Oh, looks like the little warrior had just to much fun today." The monk said soothingly as he leaned toward his wife and son, his hand gently rubbing over the sleeping boys short hair. "We should head home, my love."
"Miroku..." Chocolate eyes looked to her husband as her lips pouted defiantly. "You go on ahead with the children, I'll help Kagome clean up."
"Oh, Sango, you don-"
"I'll help her." Koga interrupted Kagome, causing the demon slayer to whip her head back to face him.
"I'm sure you wou-"
Sango stopped midsentence, as she felt her husband rise from his sitting position, hands gently lifting their son out of her warm embrace.
The monk repositioned the boy in his strong arms, causing Hisui to snuggle closer into his fathers extravagant robes.
"See Sango? She has help. Now come on my love, let's head home."
"But-"
"Sango." He said her name sternly, causing her mouth to shut tightly.
"Fine." she said curtly as chocolate angry eyes snapped over to Koga, "But, I'll be back here first thing in the morning to wake you for your training, Kagome."
He watched as the humans said good bye to one another as they gave warm hugs to the miko.
Chocolate eyes glared daggers as a quick "bye" was said from the demon slayer to Koga. Her husband on the other hand simply chuckled saying "We all must get together and do this again soon, this was a lot of fun."
Koga barely held back a eye roll.
If there is to be a next time, he was sure Sango would be dressed in full demon slayer attire, hiraikotsu ready to swing at him at any given chance.
As soon as the door slid closed, Koga let out a heavy sigh of relief, his body finally relaxing from being so tense.
With a quick roll of his shoulders he walked over to the dwindling fire, crouching low to the ground as he began stacking the dirty bowls into his one hand.
White soft hands reached out for the the stack bowls he was balancing, fingertips lightly brushing against his skin.
"Please go sit and relax, Koga. I appreciate the help, but I can do it on my own."
"I want to help."
Kagome smiled warmly up at him, "I know you do. But, I know you are really tired, so I want you to just relax for a little bit."
"Tired?" Azure eyes widened.
Did he look that bad? True, he had been having trouble sleeping lately due to the stress concerning the North and South. Also with the pretty miko running through his mind during all hours of the day and even through his dreams... didn't help either.
But, usually he was able to hide his expressions from others when he was fatigued.
"Mmhmm" she giggled at his surprised look, "you're eyes... a enchanting blue color that always glow, seems to take a slight darker shade around the edges when your tired."
He felt the tips of his ear burn hot along with his cheeks as he looked down in shock at the smiling human girl who crouched next to him.
She noticed something like that?
Quickly he turned his head away from her, hoping she didn't notice the red hue that emitted from his bronzed skin.
"Oh."
She continued to giggle, slightly nudging him with her elbow. "Just go and relax."
Defeatedly he stood and walked back to the spot be once laid upon before her friends arrived earlier; only a few feet away from the warm fire.
This time he positioned himself on his back, with his one arm placed behind his head for comfort. His eyes slowly closed, as his ears perked every so often at the priestesses movements as she wondered around the room. Clay bowls and cups could be heard clanking against one another as she hummed softly.
Between the angelic humming along with the aroma of lavender and vanilla swirling around him, he would have immediately fallen asleep. But the constant nagging in the back of his head; telling him he needed to head back to his mountain immediately kept him awake.
He furrowed his eyebrows in annoyance, as a aggravated sigh left his lips.
He knew he had to leave soon...
"What's wrong?"
Surprised eyes immediately snapped open as soon as her soft voice reached his pointed ears.
His breathe caught within his throat as he stared up at the hovering girl above him. Long black waves of silky hair cascaded over her shoulders as she leaned over, slightly tickling his skin from the contact.
Her hazel eyes looked down at him, etched with worry.
He was so deep in his thoughts, that he didnt sense her approaching him and take a seat right above him.
He felt his cheeks burn, as she continued stare down at him. Her bottom slightly raised from the ground from her kneeling position, so she could get a better look at the wolf king below her.
When Koga didn't reply, she simply asked again, "What's wrong?" Her fingers reaching down towards him, gently brushing back the bangs from his face. The soft touch sent chills down his spine making his face to flush even deeper.
He gulped nervously, "Stressed." Was all he could muster, his mind becoming foggy after every delicate touch from her hand.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked, feathered fingertips running over the sides of his head now.
"Not really."
He wouldn't mind talking to her about what was going on in his tribe. It would have been nice having someone listen to his rants since he tended to bottle everything up inside.
But, he just couldn't think straight right now as her fingers continued to trace over his forehead, head and throughout his hair.
Suddenly he felt her untie the ribbon in his hair, causing the thick dark mass to sprawl around him. Her fingers lightly pulled on his crown, gently removing it from around his head, placing it next to her sitting form.
"What are you doing?" He whispered.
She smiled as her sparkling eyes glanced away from his long hair to meet his gaze.
"My mother used to do this to me when I was upset or stressed... this always made me feel better."
Dull finger nails lightly rubbed his scalp as her thin fingers glided through the strands of hair to the very ends. She would then bring her hands back up to his head to repeat the process while she softly hummed a song.
It was almost as if the world had disappeared around them.
His gifted hearing that could hear a pin drop miles away was suddenly silenced, leaving only the heavenly humming from the miko above him.
Her enticing fragrance engulfed his senses as her pleasant caresses from her dainty fingers continued to work through his hair causing his body to relax under her touch.
He felt his eyes start to get heavy and eventually close.
Darkness fell around him as the only sound he heard was the lullaby of soft humming.
When the blissful memory ended, bringing him back to the curled up treasure that now laid mere inches away from him, he couldn't help but feel pride build up within him.
For years, literally years, he chased after the human girl only to get dismissed constantly by her for a half breed.
And now she slept peacefully alongside him, her fingers just hours ago glided through his long hair, in hopes to comfort him.
He was fearful that she would have placed distance between the two of them, especially after his intimate caresses from tongue he placed upon her finger and the seductive way he spoke to her.
But, after last night all worry and fears evaporated from him, leaving nothing but hope and want.
A clawed finger reached out to the sleeping girl, the tip of the claw delicately drawing patterns upon the iridescent flesh of the naked shoulder. He drew circles and swirls, savoring the feel of her under his touch slowly making it's way to the top of her collarbone where it stopped.
Eyes widened in surprise as they intently searched the unmarked pale skin.
...she's... untouched?
Curiously he leaned carefully forward, so close to the girl that his nose was mere millimeters away from her skin.
He inhaled her scent deeply, the aroma of lavender and vanilla masking all other smells within the home causing his eyes the roll up into his head in ecstacy.
His tongue darted out between his lips, the tip ever so lightly gliding over the smooth flesh.
After a few lingering swipes, his tongue retreated back within his mouth, savoring her the sweet taste of her while smirk formed upon his lips.
"Inuyasha... you are such a fool." He whispered.
The priestess remained untouched, whole and pure just like the day she was brought into this world.
He should have been able to taste her purity as soon as his greedy lips touched the flesh of her finger the night before. But, his mind instantly went blank as the sweet honey taste of her skin and blood coated his rough tongue.
What a treasure... he thought as his eyes clouded over with wanting desire.
He didn't know whether to go and applaud the hanyou for his restraint on not immediately rutting with the human girl, or to mock him for his obvious stupidity on leaving her a virgin for another man to conquer.
It doesn't matter, he smirked as lustful thoughts clouded his mind.
The things I could do to her...
The things I could teach her...
His tongue slowly crept out from inside his mouth, to once again sliver across the white delicate flesh. His fangs throbbed inside his gums as they slightly grew longer; urging him to pierce the unmarked flesh; claiming her as his own permanently.
I could be her first...
His mouth widened, fangs ever so lightly glided over the flesh till his mouth was stretched to the maximum. His fangs continued to ache with want to pierce her skin as they lingered above.
Slowly his mouth began to bite down, the sharp tips of the fangs pressing agains't the skin, not yet puncturing the fragile flesh...
Then she moved slightly underneath him, causing his body to swiftly retreat from the girl. Azure eyes tinted with specks of mauve and crimson stared down at the miko as she stirred in her sleep.
His heart throbbed chaotically underneath his thick armor and bronzed skin, as his elongated fangs slowly started to retract back into gums.
He took a sigh of relieve as the girl fell back asleep.
His eyes faded back to his normal cerulean color, as alarms went off in his head.
What the fuck was that?!
Widened fearful eyes once again looked at her bare shoulder.
Realizing that his beastly instincts took over him just now, getting ready to mark her as his.
He wasn't even inside her, joined as one, for him to react such away.
What is wrong with me!? What the hell is happening?!
Hurriedly he sat up, hand quickly reaching out for his ribbon that was placed to his side. Thick fingers swiftly pulled his hair up in its usual high pony tail style, encasing it with the ribbon tightly.
He needed to leave.
Now.
His feelings were getting stronger for the girl, so strong that he just lost himself moments ago.
If she hadn't moved underneath him, causing him to return back to senses... he would have marked her.
And the thought frightened him.
He reached out for his crown, grasping the thin silver circlet and placing it around his head.
Getting ready to rise up from the ground, he paused as a sudden jolt ran up his spine.
The feeling of small fingers circling around the tip of his tail caused him to whip his head around, eyes wide as he watched the human girl slightly sit up, still half asleep.
His eyes dashed between her grasping hand around his tail and her sleepy form.
Her hazel eyes were hidden behind heavy eyelids, barely even slits. Her wavy black hair was in disarray while the top of her kimono slid further down her arm, revealing more creamy white flesh to his eyes.
A deep blush stained his cheeks as his body completely froze, his eyes greedily scanning over the priestess.
"Kag-"
"Where are you going?" She mumbled, eyes slowly closing as her head started to fall forward and then back up, struggling to stay awake.
"I need to return to my mountain."
Her beautiful face contorted, obviously not liking his answer. "Will you come back and visit me again?"
"Yes."
"Promise?"
Another promise I have to keep...
With a soft smile he whispered loud enough for her to hear, "Yes, I promise, Kagome."
He watched as she smiled contently with eyes still closed.
She released his tail from her grasp as she once again curled up upon the mat.
"Don't take to... long to... visit, Ko... ga..." she barely said, as she drifted back into a slumber.
Looks like I'll be back here sooner than I thought.
The wolf king smiled warmly, as his hand reached out to the girl. His fingers gently tugging the kimono back up into place to cover her bare shoulder.
After one last lingering gaze at the sleeping girl, he stood, and proceeded to walk towards the entrance to the mikos home, stretching his arms in the process.
Before he took his leave, he needed to take care of some things first...
Hours passed since the departure of the wolf king.
Kagome still slept peacefully on the mat. Eventually her hand reached out before her, expecting to feel something hard and warm.
Sluggish eyes slightly opened as she realized she felt only air.
With a yawn, she sat up, curled up fingers rubbing the sleep from her one eye, while the other scanned the room searching for the wolf demon.
He must have left... she thought disappointly.
Her hands went up to her hair, fingers gliding through the long strands desperately trying to tame it.
I wish he would have said bye...
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Kagome?"
A womans voice called her from outside the entrance of her home.
Not wanting to get up just yet, the miko called out, "You can come in, Sango."
The paper door slid open, as the demon slayer entered the home, chocolate eyes quickly scanning the room searching for a particular wolf.
A thin brow quirked upwards as her eyes fell upon her bestfriends appearance. "Did you just wake up?"
"Mmhmm." Kagome mumbled, fingers still working diligently through her hair. "I was really exhausted."
"I see... and Koga?"
Kagome shrugged lightly, a frown forming on her lips. "He left at some point... I don't really remember when he left exactly."
"And what is all of this?" Asked Sango.
Kagome looked at her friend who was still standing near the entrance of her home. Her eyes scanned over her friend, noticing the demon slayer was looking down at the ground near her feet.
Following her gaze, she couldn't help but blink a few times in surprise.
There sat near the entrance of her home was stacks of fire wood, thinly chopped, easy for the miko to handle. Next to it laid carcasses of rabbits and ducks upon a piece of cloth along with a net full of fish.
...Koga did this?
Kagome felt her cheeks heat up at the thought of him running around all over the place to acquire such things for her as she slept.
"... Koga must have done all of this before he left." She said stunned.
Sango rolled her eyes, "Of course he did."
