The wolf kings father, Lord Kazuya, was a wise man, whom often told Koga while he was a young pup that there were two types of happiness in the world.
One form of happiness would be experiencing a brief moment of great delight and pleasure; that would eventually come and go. An example the Lord would often give to his son when it came to describing this form of happiness,.he would often say that when experiencing this particular feeling it would often be something important to a person; such as to finally achieving a certain goal you set in life or it could even be something small such as enjoying the taste of your favorite food.
The second type of happiness is where you pursue things of meaning and value in your life. And when you achieve this form of happiness, this particular feeling won't just come and go, but remain throughout the rest of your life giving you a sense of completeness within your heart; an ever lasting happinesss.
And when telling young Koga this, Lord Kazuya would often say that his mate, Kogas Mother, was his ever lasting happiness.
As a young pup, Koga never understood his Fathers words. Though he loved his Mother with his whole heart, he never quite understood how someone could give another person ever lasting happiness.

But now, as the wolf king walked through the old forest in the early morning hours with his arms cradling a precious treasure that slept peacefully cuddled up against his chest of armor... he finally understood his fathers words.

He now understood the second form of happiness.

And there was no other words to describe the feeling that the wolf king felt at this very moment.

Azure eyes scanned over the sleeping miko within his arms. Pieces of her hair came undone from the tight binds throughout the night; causing whisps of ink black hair to cascade down her shoulders and over his arm. He noticed that her kimono loosened somewhat as she curled further into him, baring her creamy white flesh to his searching eyes.
Lightly he bit down upon his bottom lip as his eyes scanned over her bare flesh, slowly raking up towards her face. Her beautiful hazel eyes were closed behind thick dark lashes as her swollen red lips were slightly parted as soft puffs of breath left those two soft pieces of flesh as she slept soundlessly.

A deep crimson blush erupted over his bronzed skin as thoughts of the night before clouded his mind.

The way she felt under his wondering hands as they gliding over her silken kimono; she was just so soft and warm under his wanting touch.
It took everything in him last night to not slice the delicate fabric to pieces with his claws so he could feel the creamy white flesh hidden underneath.

And when his rough tongue darted between her lips, gliding over her blunt teeth and entangling itself with her own in what seemed to be a never ending battle, the wolf king almost lost control... multiple times.
The way she tasted, so sweet and enticing, he knew he had become addicted to her as soon as his lips touched her own.
He couldn't tell you how many times he had to pull away from the miko; desperately trying to regain control of his senses.
He wanted to claim her at that very moment under the blanket of twinkling stars: to take her precious treasure as his own and finally make her his and only his for all eternity.

But, he knew he had to wait.

That he should wait.

He knew he had to give her time.

But damn.

She wasn't making it easy for him to hold back.

When he would pull away from her, his calloused hands slightly gripped her slender shoulders gently in a attempt to put distance between the two of them for a brief moment.
His chest would expand under his armor as he took heavy of breaths of the autumn of air that surrounded them in a dire attempt to regain the lack of air within his lungs from devouring her mouth nonstop.
His half lidded lustful eyes would stare down at her, taking in her appearance before him. And while he scanned over every detail of her being, he couldn't help but think that she was the most beautiful creature that he had ever laid his eyes upon.

Her hazel eyes were masked in desire as she stared up into his azure ones. Her cheeks were a bright red that glowed against her porcelain white skin, while the kimono she wore became lose baring her naked collarbone and shoulders to his wondering eyes. Some of her hair pins fell out causing strands of black hair to cascade around her, while the remaining hair pins and combs that desperately held the remaining thick hair into its extravagant hair style glittered in the moon light.
And her lips... full and slightly swollen from his constant onslaught of his own mouth, were parted as heavy breaths left her mouth as she tried to regain her breath along with him.

It was a breathtaking sight that was permanently engraved into his mind.

"Mmmmm."

The soft moan from the sleeping priestess brought the wolf king back from his memories.
He stopped in his tracks as the girl he cradled within his arms moved closer against his chest, obviously trying to get warm from the chilly morning air.

He smirked, pulling the girl closer against him as his head bent down towards her. Gently he nuzzled his nose against her forehead, "Were almost at your house, my love. Just a little bit longer..." he whispered as be pulled away slightly just to place a light kiss upon her forehead. He watched as a warm smile spread across her lips as she once again drifted off into a deep slumber.

He sighed heavily, enjoying the view of the angel he held, but guilt slowly welled up inside of him.
He should have taken her back to the village last night.
He should have taken her back so she could of enjoyed the festivities with her friends and have her show him all the stands of food, shops and games that littered up and down the streets of the bustling village just like how she orginally wanted.
And when it would have became late with the festival finally ending, he would have brought her home where she would have been tucked away in comfort and warmth for the rest of the night.

But, he was greedy wolf.

And he didn't want to share her with anyone else last night. Especially now that they were alone and he had her within his arms.

He waited way to long to taste the pretty miko whom he desired for years. And once he finally got a taste of her and felt her with his own hands, he just couldn't let her leave.

So he devoured her well into the night till exhaustion took her and she finally fell asleep in his lap.

Suddenly the kings pointed ears slightly perked at the sound of a roosters crowing in the distance. His azure eyes left the sleeping girl to look straight ahead towards the village that sat up ahead from where he stood.

Slowly the village started to arise as the warm morning rays shined upon the sleeping huts. He could now hear the villagers sluggishly awaken to start the new day.

With a heavy sigh, Koga took off into a brisk walk towards the hut that was placed on the outskirts of the village.
His eyes would every so often glance down at Kagome, hoping that his sudden quick pace wouldn't wake her. He was just hoping to get her inside her home before anyone noticed them.
Though the villagers loved the priestess and were always kind to him, he knew tongues would wag if they saw him carrying the sleeping miko to her home at such a early hour... especially since she was missing during the festivities the night before.

When the king finally reached the small hut, he gently repositioned the sleeping girl in his arms so he could open the sliding door.
Slowly he slid the door open as the warmth from the home leaked out of the opening brushing against his face along with the strong scent of the human girl that lived within it.
Quickly he made his way inside, sliding the door shut behind him before anyone saw them.
He crept his way through the darkened room, his demonic eyes guiding him to the mat next the hearth of untouched fire wood.

The wolf gently laid the sleeping priestess upon the mat, quickly noticing how the girl scrunched her nose in annoyance as she turned her head from one side to the other trying to get comfortable. Koga soon realized the hair pins and combs were probably causing the girl discomfort.
A clawed hand reached towards the jeweled hairpins as calloused fingers gripped the heavy gold and gently pulled the pin from its tight binds. He watched in amazement as thick silky hair fell to the floor around her.
Placing the expensive hair piece on the mat he quickly continued to remove the rest.

Once his finger gripped last pin decorated in jewels and dangling pearls, he paused when he felt soft fingertips delicately touch his arm. Azure eyes pulled away from the hairpin to look down at the small hand, watching as blunt nails trace patterns upon his flesh and the veins that protruded under skin. His eyes gliding from the dancing fingers to the slender wrist, quickly noticing that the priestess had already placed the bracelet upon her.

He felt his heart skip a beat as a deep crimson blush covered his skin. Hopeful azure eyes stared down intently at the glowing moonstones. The woman wouldn't have worn the bracelet until she officially accepted the proposal of becoming the mans mate.

Did she accept?

Softly he shook his head from the thoughts that he so long prayed for.

No, she needs time think of her answer. She is human and knows nothing of wolf traditions and meanings...

"Koga?"

As soon as the soft call of his name reached his ears, he quickly turned to face the miko. His cerulean eyes locked onto her drowsy hazel ones.
He smiled warmly down at the girl, his free hand reaching down towards her to brush away the bangs from her gorgeous eyes.

"Yes, Kagome?" He said softly.

"Are you going to leave?"

His heart stopped, as he watched a small frown tug on her lips.
The playful ticklish feeling of her nails upon his skin had halted as those words left her lips, just to glide towards his hand that was still in her hair. Her fingers entangled through his thick calloused ones, obviously showing that she wished for him to stay with her.

He smiled softly at the girl below him. His hand cupping her face as he slowly bent down towards her.

"I must return to my mountain..." he said softly, placing a light kiss upon her forehead, "But, I will return to you as soon as I can."

"You promise?"

He slightly pulled away from the girl, his eyes locking onto her own, "I promise, Kagome."
Koga bent down and placed his lips upon hers.

They shared many kisses a few hours ago, but this one was delicate, soft and full of love.
And when he pulled away from the miko, he felt his heart pounding away within his chest that yearned to want to show the miko just how much he loved her, "I love you, Kagome, with all my heart." He whispered into her lips.

He felt her lips form a smile under his own.

When he finally pulled away from the priestess, trailing his fingers over her soft cheek, he smiled down at her, "I must leave now, my love. Please get some rest."

She smiled, her eyelids slowly closing as sleep suddenly overtook her once again, "Hurry... back to me... Koga..."

The wolf king couldn't help but smirk down at the now sleeping woman.

I really am a selfish wolf... I kept her up almost all night.

With one last kiss upon the sleeping mikos lips, he took his leave, quietly stepping upon the wooden floor boards of the hut and gently pulling the sliding door to the side.
As he walked through the entrance way, he glanced back at the sleeping priestess and with a long heavy sigh he slid the screen shut behind him.

The quicker I take care of business back at the mountain... the sooner I can return to her...

With determined eyes the wolf king took off into the early the morning as fast as he could. His feet dug into the cold earth, kicking up stone and dirt as he ran into the forest near the awakening village.
He dodged trees as he sprinted while jumping over uplifted roots and boulders with ease. Long skeleton branches and shrubbery slapped against his skin as he ran, causing blood to appear upon the scrapes they left behind only to disappear in mere seconds later leaving his flesh unmarked.

The wind danced through his long hair, flowing behind him in dark glistening waves as the sun from high in the sky beamed upon him through the towering trees of the forest.

He had no idea how long he had been running, a few hours or so he figured. It seemed that the time quickened during his travel since his thoughts were occupied by the pretty priestess he left miles behind him along with the memories of the night before.

Suddenly the wolf king stopped in his tracks, dirt and dust swirled around him at his sudden halt. His chest slightly heaved under his armor plate as pebbles of sweat glistening upon his bronzed skin.
His nostrils flared in and out as he sniffed the air around him.

That scent..

Slowly he closed his eyes in concentration, as he inhaled deep breathes of air.

It can't be...

His eyes snapped open into a glare, his dark blue pupils in slits as a frown tugged at his lips.

Northerners.

There was no mistaking it.
He knew that particular scent that clung to all northerners; the smell of snow and mountain dew along with a hint of burning woodfire.
And since his land hadn't had their first snowfall yet, he easily was able to catch these scents miles away before reaching his mountain.

Kogas frown deepened.

Why are they here?

He recieved no messenger from the north notifying him of their visit.

He growled lowly in frustration, the tips of his pearl white fangs poking out from underneath his top lip.

Of all times to come visit...

His plan to end the treaty with the North was still unfinished. Messengers and warriors he sent out days ago to the scattered tribes in his Eastern lands still hadn't returned.

With one last angered growl, Koga took off into a sprint once again, his pace quickening with every step he took towards his mountain.
His frown deepened as the scent of the northerners became stronger and stronger the closer he got to his home.
Especially one scent in particular that was a mix of snow and sandalwood.

Aoki.

When the king reached the base of the mountain, he bent his knees ever so slightly and pushed himself upward with ease. Stones and dirt swirled around from where he once stood from the force he used to push himself off the ground.
He jumped from one rocky ledge to other, making his way up to the main entrance of the cave hidden behind the pouring waterfall.
As he made his way up he briefly saw his warriors and scouts out on patrol, lingering upon the ledges and cliffs. Greeting voices of "My king" reached his pointed ears as he jumped past them.

Finally when he reached the entrance he jumped through the waterfall with ease.
His bare feet landing upon the rocky wet service of the cave, as water droplets from the waterfall drizzled down his skin and dripped from his hair.
His azure eyes scanned over the scene before him.

The fire pit in the center of the room was ablaze, littered with men and women of his pack around it. The northerners were intermixed with them, a mere dozen or so of strong warriors, all cladded in their northern armor of dark blues, grays and whites. Everyone happily conversed amongst each other as they picked the meat off bones from the early morning kill and drank whiskey.
Koga scanned the faces of everyone, till they landed upon his general Ginta who sat amongst them all. Almost as if his general felt his gaze, he looked up, indigo eyes immediately locking onto cerulean ones. The wolf king watched as his friends smile fainted into the thin line of worry.

"Well if it isn't my dear future cousin finally gracing us with his presence."

The once happy chatter and laughter that bounced off the caves walls fell silent.
Koga turned his gaze away from his general and followed the voice, his eyes peering up at his throne where figure sat lazily upon it.
Mischievous pale green eyes smeared with charcoal stared down at Koga while a smirk spread acrossed his chiseled face. Upon such a handsome face, a thick scar adorn his left cheek bone, stretching past the tip of his pointed ear.
The wolf demon leaned forward, his dark blue armor glistening in the soft light from the flames of the fire pit from below while the white furs almost blended in with his creamy pale skin.
With his elbows resting upon his knees, his head lazily fell into one of his clawed hands as finger tips rubbed against the prickly the side of his shaved head. Though his head was shaved all around, the top of his head was full of thick dark red hair that was pulled into a messy bun with a simple leather strap. Thin braids and silver beads were placed throughout the unkempt hair, as strands of the color of fire fell from the binding of the strap and cascaded below his chin.

"Koga, It has been a while hasn't it?" The wolf demons smirk spread further, revealing the tips of his fangs.

"That is King to you, Aoki." Koga glared up at the red headed demon that still sat comfortably upon his throne. "A message that you had plans to visit would have been appreciated."

Aoki shrugged at his words, "My King, we will one day be family. A surprise visit shouldn't bother you so much."

"It doesn't, but I would have liked to have been notified of your planned arrival beforehand so I could have prepared accommodations for you and your men."

"I appreciate the thought, but you don't have worry. Your generals and Lady Yuriko have taken good care of us while you were away all night." Pale eyes squinted down at the wolf king, "But, I did send my dear sweet cousin to your private chambers to rest from our long journey. I hope you do not mind."

"Ayame is here?" Koga asked.

"Well of course. Once I told her my plans to visit you she begged me nonstop to come along." The once mischievous smirk that graced Aoki's features was replaced with a small frown. "I couldn't say no to her since she hadn't seen her betrothed in over three months."

Koga turned away from the red headed demon and started to make his way towards the tunnels of the cave.

"By the way, my King, how was your hunt?" Aoki asked outloud.

The wolf king stopped and glanced back at the wolf demon, "Hunt?" He questioned as he quirked an eyebrow.

Aoki leaned back into the throne, his eyes sparkling while his usual playful grin was plastered upon his face once again. "Did you not go on a hunt last night? Your generals said you were hunting down some rare animal that always seemed to escape from your grasps." Arched eyebrows raised as he continued, "I was shocked that you returned to your mountain empty handed when I've heard countless tales of how great of a hunter you are. I'm assuming that the beast got away yet again?"

The wolf king smirked, "I finally succeeded in catching her last night." His tongue playfully crept out between his lips, gliding over his top lip, "She tasted so good I just ate her all up and had nothing to bring back to the mountain."

And with those words he continued to make his way down the tunnel to his private chambers.
